  • Anita Chase at Lost Artists Colony Chicago plays for SWAN feature. 2016 with wings

Anita Chase plays at feature from SWAN (Support. Women. Artists. Now) (international posting from Berkley, CA) at Lost Artists Colony show 2016. LIVE. unedited clip, at remote location underground in Chicago. , along with artists and poets.
Guitarist/ Vocalist/ Songwriter Company NameThe Lost Brigade
Dates EmployedJan 2010 – Present Employment Duration7 yrs 3 mos LocationGreater Chicago Area
Formerly Matthew Morgan and the Lost Brigade (MMLB), the band became simply The Lost Brigade in December 2013. This is a hard-working band that has made its mark on the Chicago music scene, and is now pushing into the Midwest with support from their Chicago label, CAUDog Records.

Bassist/ vocalist, Kevin Lahvic and guitarist/ vocalist, Anita Chase, have become the driving songwriters behind the band with drummer/percussionist, Jeff Gilbert, and violinist/ guitarist/ vocalist, Anand Christopher rounding out the rest of the quartet. The Lost Brigade blends hopeful and upbeat rock with a diverse influences ranging from folk, to classical, to pop, to alternative, to Motown. Kevin is also a visual artist who works out of Chicago’s renowned Flat Iron Gallery. This connection to Chicago’s Wicker Park art scene is another factor that sets the group apart.

Press regarding MMLB called the band as “intense as whiskey with all the flavors of fine wine. Bombastic, upbeat pop/folk grabs audiences by the hand. It’s a sweet slow dance…” (OnAxis Music). The Lost Brigade has retained that intensity and looks to continue to bring new flavors to their audience.

Their energetic live shows are a sonic feast which satiate the hunger for honest roots music mixed with fresh, fun creative rock.

Love this opening track, a fine fusion of Funk and Avant-garde Jazz, featuring the two saxes of Joseph Jarman and Roscoe Mitchell combined with Lester Bowie's trumpet, Don Moye on Drums with Malachi Favors on Bass. The only female in the band is the legendary Fontella Bass {Rescue Me} on Vocals & Piano.
Check how the drummer and bassist lay the Funk foundation from the very opening as the Horns build and lift the tune to the Sky!
Jazz with total Freedom!. Recorded in Boulogne July 22, 1970.

    Lyrics :
Your head is like a yoyo,
your neck is like the string,
    Your body's like a camembert
    oozing from its skin.

Your fanny's like two sperm whales
    floating down the Seine
Your voice is like a long fart
    that's music to your brain.

Your eyes are two blind eagles
that kill what they can't see
Your hands are like two shovels
    digging in me.

And your love is like an oil-well
    Dig, dig, dig, dig it,
    On the Champs-Elysees.

  • Chicago - Dialogue Part 1 & 2

    Studio version. Great lyrics....

Are you optimistic 'bout the way things are going
No, I never ever think of it at all
    Don't you ever worry
When you see what's going down
Well, I try to mind my business, that is, no business at all
When it's time to function as a feeling human being
Will your bachelor of arts help you get by
I hope to study further, a few more years or so
I also hope to keep a steady high
Will you try to change things
Use the power that you have, the power of a million new ideas
What is this power you speak of and this need for things to change
I always thought that everything was fine... everything is fine
Don't you feel repression just closing in around
No, the campus here is very, very free
Don't it make you angry the way war is dragging on
Well, I hope the president knows what he's into, I don't know... Oooh I just don't know
Don't you see the starvation in the city where you live
All the needless hunger all the needless pain
I haven't been there lately, the country is so fine
My neighbors don't seem hungry 'cause they haven't got the time... haven't got the time

Thank you for the talk, you know you really eased my mind
I was troubled by the shape of things to come
Well, if you had my outlook your feelings would be numb
You'd always think that everything was fine... everything was fine

    We can make it happen
We can change the world now
    We can save the children
    We can make it better
    We can make it happen
    We can save the children
    We can make it happen

Brian and I took our efforts to my hometown in a loft scene style performance space. This improvisation featured some participation from the audience.
