    Lyrics:

    Hey, where did we go
Days when the rains came ?
    Down in the hollow
    Playing a new game,
    Laughing and a-running, hey, hey,
    Skipping and a-jumping
In the misty morning fog with
    Our, our hearts a-thumping
    And you, my brown-eyed girl,
    You, my brown-eyed girl.

    Whatever happened
    To Tuesday and so slow
Going down to the old mine with a
    Transistor radio.
    Standing in the sunlight laughing
    Hide behind a rainbow's wall,
    Slipping and a-sliding
    All along the waterfall
    With you, my brown-eyed girl,
    You, my brown-eyed girl.

    Lyrics:
    When it's not always raining
    There'll be days like this
    When there's no one complaining
    There'll be days like this
    When everything falls into place
Like the flick of a switch
    Well my mama told me
    There'll be days like this

When you don't need to worry
    There'll be days like this
When no one's in a hurry
    There'll be days like this
When all the parts of the puzzle
Start to look like they fit
    Then I must remember
    There'll be days like this

When you don't need an answer
    There'll be days like this
When you don't meet a chancer
    There'll be days like this
    When you don't get betrayed
    By that old Judas kiss
    Oh my mama told me
    There'll be days like this

    When everyone is up front
    And they're not playing tricks
When you don't have no freeloaders
    Out to get their kicks
    When it's nobody's business
The way that you want to live
    I just have to remember
    There'll be days like this

When no one steps on my dreams
    There'll be days like this
When people understand what I mean
    There'll be days like this
When you ring out the changes
    Of how everything is
    Well my mama told me
    There'll be days like this

    Oh my mama told me
    There'll be days like this
    Oh my mama told me
    There'll be days like this
    Oh my mama told me
    There'll be days like this
    Oh my mama told me
    There'll be days like this

  • BB King & Van Morrison - If You Love Me

    5:46

If You Love Me, Deuces Wild Album, 1997
Performer : B.B. King and Van Morrison
    Composer : Van Morrison
Original performer : Van Morrison, on The Healing Game (1997)

You can't move an inch without tripping over a superstar on this album of celebrity duets. On DEUCES WILD, B. B. looks beyond the blues world to collaborate with such unlikely folks as Willie Nelson, Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, and even rapper Heavy D. On newly recorded versions of classic B.B. numbers such as The Thrill Is Gone (with Tracy Chapman) and Paying The Cost To Be The Boss (with the Rolling Stones), the legendary blues guitarslinger reinvents his own material to accommodate his famous pals, whose respect for King and enthusiasm for this project are apparent on each track. Most effective are the tunes that find B.B. paired up with veteran blues belters like Joe Cocker (Dangerous Mood) and Van Morrison (If You Love Me).

DEUCES WILD was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album.

Personnel: B.B. King (guitar); Mick Jagger (vocals, harmonica); Paul Carrack (vocals, keyboards); David Gilmour, Dean Parks, Eric Clapton, Hugh McCracken, Lee Schell, Johnny Lee Schell, Keith Richards, Marty Stuart, Michael Landau, Neil Hubbard, Randy Jacobs, Ron Wood, Bonnie Raitt (guitar); Tamara L. If you love me
    You will give your heart
    Why should be apart
    If you love me

    If you love me
    You will know the truth
    I wasn't born to lose
    And I love you

    Affinity and communication
    That makes reality
    Understanding is the first thing
It means so much to me

    If I love you
    I will find the key
    If it's meant to be
    'Cause I love you

    Affinity and communication
    That makes reality
    Understanding is the first thing
It means so much to me

    If I love you
    I will find the key
    If it's meant to be
    'Cause I love you...

    Dedicated to my precious Cause...
    Priceless, selfless and honest ...
That's the kind of love I found in YOU !

    5:13

These are the days of the endless summer
These are the days, the time is now
There is no past, there's only future
There's only here, there's only now

Oh your smiling face, your gracious presence
The fires of spring are kindling bright
Oh the radiant heart and the song of glory
    Crying freedom in the night

These are the days by the sparkling river
His timely grace and our treasured find
This is the love of the one magician
    Turned the water into wine

These are the days of the endless dancing and the
Long walks on the summer night
These are the days of the true romancing
When I'm holding you oh, so tight

These are the days by the sparkling river
His timely grace and our treasured find
This is the love of the one great magician
    Turned the water into wine

These are the days now that we must savor
And we must enjoy as we can
These are the days that will last forever
You've got to hold them in your heart.

    All the wild night breezes

When you're walkin' out on the street
And the wind catches your feet
    Sends you flyin', cryin'
    Wild night is calling, alright
    Wild night is calling
And all the girls walk by
    Dressed up for each other
And the boys do the boogie-woogie
On the corner of the street
    And the people, passin' by
    Stare in wild wonder
    And the inside juke-box
    Roars out just like thunder

I've used beautiful macro-photography of bees and flowers and cute photos of animals in love. I hope you will enjoy it. A special thank you to Harry Styles of One Direction for helping more people discover this beautiful song.

Note: Sorry about using alright instead of all right. I was going by the lyrics that are posted on the internet and unfortunately let this mistake get past me. The correct words should be all right. Alrightt is not a word. The way to remember this is Alright is not all right.

    From Wikipedia:

Tupelo Honey is a popular song written by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison and the title song from his 1971 album, 'Tupelo Honey'. The title derives from an expensive, mild-tasting tupelo honey produced in the southeastern United States. Released as a single in 1972, it reached number forty-seven on the U.S. pop chart.

The melody, which has a catchy, soulful feel to it, was borrowed from Morrison's song Crazy Love, released the previous year. This same melody was later used by Van Morrison on the song, Why Must I Always Explain?, on his 1991 double album, Hymns to the Silence. Morrison has played Tupelo Honey in a medley with both Crazy Love and Why Must I Always Explain? in concert.

In an Uncut review for the album, David Cavanagh remarks: Building upwards from a gentle flute refrain, and then pushed forwards by mighty fills from jazz drummer Connie Kay who played on Astral Weeks, 'Tupelo Honey' is sung by a man who has grabbed us by the lapels and won't let go until we understand precisely what he's experiencing. On an album where the vocals are exultant to say the least, this song sees Morrison use larynx, diaphragm, teeth and tongue to find new ways of enunciating the lines 'she's as sweet as Tupelo honey' and 'she's all right with me', seemingly in ever-increasing adoration.

Bob Dylan (who performed the song with Morrison during a concert tour in the 1990s) once remarked that 'Tupelo Honey' has always existed and that Morrison was merely the vessel and the earthly vehicle for it. The Allmusic reviewer commented (echoing Bob Dylan): Morrison's lyrics, singing, and phrasing are so free and natural on the country-soul song that it is indeed hard to imagine that the song, and the original recording of 'Tupelo Honey', has not always been there.

    Lyrics to Tupelo Honey

You can take all the tea in China
Put it in a big brown bag for me
Sail right around the seven oceans
Drop it straight into the deep blue sea
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
She's an angel of the first degree
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

You can't stop us on the road to freedom
You can't keep us 'cause our eyes can see
Men with insight, men in granite
Knights in armor bent on chivalry
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
She's an angel of the first degree
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

You can't stop us on the road to freedom
You can't stop us 'cause our eyes can see
Men with insight, men in granite
Knights in armor intent on chivalry
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
She's an angel of the first degree
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

    You know she's all right
You know she's all right with me
She's all right, she's all right (she's an angel)

You can take all the tea in China
Put it in a big brown bag for me
Sail it right around the seven oceans
Drop it smack dab in the middle of the deep blue sea
Because she's as sweet as tupelo honey
She's an angel of the first degree
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee

She's as sweet as tupelo honey
She's an angel of the first degree
She's as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like the honey, baby, from the bee
She's my baby, you know she's all right

  • Van Morrison - A Sense of Wonder

    7:16

Van Morrison - A Sense of Wonder (Lyrics on screen and in description)

This is the title track from A Sense of Wonder, the fifteenth studio album by Northern Irish singer/songwriter Van Morrison & released in 1985. As I made this video, I envisioned myself walking along a forest path and remembering various events in my life, both big and small. I tried my best to convey the images in Van's fantastic lyrics. I hope you'll enjoy this video.

    A Sense of Wonder Lyrics:

I walked in my greatcoat, down through the days of the leaves
No, before after; yes, after before
We were shining our light into the days of blooming wonder
In the eternal presence, in the presence of the flame

Didn't I come to bring you a sense of wonder?
Didn't I come to lift your fiery vision bright?
Didn't I come to bring you a sense of wonder in the flame

On and on and on and on, we kept on singing our song
Through Newtonards and Comber, Gransha and the Ballystockart Road
To Spike and Boffyflow, I said I would describe the leaves
For Samuel and Felicity, rich, red browney, half burnt orange and green

Didn't I come to bring you a sense of wonder?
Didn't I come to lift your fiery vision bright?
Didn't I come to bring you a sense of wonder in the flame

It's easy to describe the leaves in the Autumn
And it's, oh so easy in the Spring
But down through January and February
    It's a very different thing

On and on and on through the winter of our discontent
When the wind blows up the collar and the ears are frostbitten too
I said, I could describe the leaves for Samuel
And what it means to you and me
You may call my love Sophia, but I call my love Philosophy

Didn't I come to bring you a sense of wonder?
Didn't I come to lift your fiery vision bright?
Didn't I come to bring you a sense of wonder in the flame

Wee Alfie at the Castle Picturehouse on the Castlereagh Road
Whistling on the corner next door
Where he kept Johnny Mack Brown's horse

O Solo Mio by McGimsey and the man who played the saw
Outside the city hall, pastie suppers down at Davy's chipper
    Gravyrings, wagon wheels, barnbracks, snowballs

Didn't I come to bring you a sense of wonder? (3X)

Van wrote the following as part of the liner notes of the LP version of A Sense of Wonder to go with an instrumental Boffyflow and Spike included on that album. Some of the text from this piece also appears in the lyrics for A Sense of Wonder. I think it helps add to and clarify the meaning of the song, A Sense of Wonder:

So let us follow Boffyflow and Spike down through the days of the leaves. Boffy is covered with leaves completely the buckijit and Spike is in hysterics. On they go, on and on up the small incline, gathering sacks of leaves for burning in the clearing and waiting on McDole.

McDole has not been seen nor heard of since Halloween and everyone is getting a trifle nervous. Spike took the sheet of paper from his inside coat pocket and tried to decipher the code, but as he glanced over the page, he realised he had not noticed the note in the margin that said It means what it means, followed by, Wee Alfie at the Castle picturehouse on the Castlereagh Road, whistling on the corner next door where he kept Johnny Mack Brown's horse. O Solo Mio by McGimsey and the man who played the saw outside the city hall. Pastie suppers down at Davy's Chipper, gravy rings, barmbracks, wagon wheels, snowballs. A Sense of Wonder.

On and on. Spike and Boffyflow tramping with sacks of leaves over the Gransha road to Ballystockart and back again. Puck up said Boffy, It means what it means and we have a windfall. If we're not daft enough to burn these leaves, we can freeze them 'til next Autumn, study them and then let them decompose. If we can get in touch with your man, I would strongly advise him to do ditto with the documents.

Just at that moment, as if by a strike of faith, McDole came round the bent on a bike. Okay lads, you're on to something, don't blow it. Go out to the Isle and have a few scoops on me. The boys drove out in the charabanc to Daft Eddies and ordered up. And so down to work putting the documents in perspective. McDole got out the accordian and started to wail When heart is open there's loads from Ballygowan to Ballyhacamore. He spun round on one leg, grabbing Spike by the lapels, You're terrible you are. You blurt. He put away six doubles of Jameson from the bar and sank into a deep apathetic slumber, mumbling Blinkin' Cowboys, Blinkin' Cowboys...

    Lyrics:

Oh my dear, oh my dear sweet love
Oh my dear, oh my dear sweet love
When I'm away from you, when I'm away from you
Well I feel, yeah, well I feel so sad and blue
Well I feel, well I feel so sad and blue
Oh my dear, oh my dear, oh my dear sweet love
When I'm away from you, I just have to sing, my hymns
Hymns to the silence, hymns to the silence
Hymns to the silence, hymns to the silence

Oh my dear, oh my dear sweet love it's a long, long journey
Long, long journey, journey back home
Back home to you, feel you by my side
    Long journey, journey, journey
Yeah in the midnight, in the midnight, I burn the candle
Burn the candle at both ends, burn the candle at both ends
Burn the candle at both ends, burn the candle at both ends
And I keep on, `cause I can't sleep at night
    Until the daylight comes through
And I just, and I just, have to sing
Sing my hymns to the silence
Hymns to the silence, hymns to the silence
    My hymns to the silence

I wanna go out in the countryside
Oh sit by the clear, cool, crystal water
Get my spirit, way back to the feeling
Deep in my soul, I wanna feel
Oh so close to the One, close to the One
Close to the One, close to the One
And that's why, I keep on singing baby
My hymns to the silence, hymns to the silence
Oh my hymns to the silence, hymns to the silence
Oh hymns to the silence, oh hymns to the silence
Oh hymns to the silence, hymns to the silence
Oh my dear, my dear sweet love
Can you feel the silence? can you feel the silence?
Can you feel the silence? can you feel the silence?

Hymns to the silence, hymns to the silence
Hymns to the silence, hymns to the silence
Hymns to the silence, hymns to the silence
Hymns to the silence, hymns to the silence
Hymns to the silence, hymns to the silence.

  • Van Morrison - Steal my heart away

    4:24

    From... Down the road; 2002.

I can hear the sound of violins
I can hear the piper play
And every time the song begins
You just steal my heart away

    The journey's longer than
    I thought my love
    There's lots of things
    Get in the way
But every time I think of you
You just steal my heart away

    Just like a morning
    In May like this
See the heather on the hill
    There's a place way up
    The mountainside
    Where the world
    Keeps standing still

Just like the sunshine after rain
    I'll come
To be with you will save the day
    'Cos I know
    When I'm with you again
You just steal my heart away

    Just like a morning
    In May like this
We see the heather on the hill
    There's a place up on
    The mountainside
    Where the world is
    Standing still

Just like the sunshine after rain I'll come
To be with you will save the day 'cos I know
    When I'm with you again
You just steal my heart away

    'Cos I know
When I m with you again
You just steal my heart away

    'Cos I know
    When I'm with you again
You just steal my heart away

    'Cos I know
    When I'm with you again

  • PAUL BRADY with Van Morrison and Brendan Bowyer on 23 October 2001 at Vicar Street, Dublin

    1:52:58

Paul Brady with Van Morrison and Brendan Bowyer at Vicar Street, Dublin 23 October 2001

    Extract from paulbrady.com :
Twas was a truly memorable night. An incredible musical extravaganza! Guesting were Van Morrison and Brendan Bowyer, Arty McGlynn, and the brass section this time with Annie Whitehead, Linley Hamilton and Derek O’Connor. Brendan Bowyer is one of Ireland’s best known and loved singers with a career stretching back to the sixties when as lead singer with the Royal Showband he was the biggest star in the land. When Van was starting out with the Monarchs Showband in Belfast way before he formed Them, Brendan was already a huge star both North and South. When Van heard Brendan was set to sing he was genuinely delighted and the two shared many stories before the night was out. Brendan has just recorded a new album featuring among others, ‘Follow On’ written by Paul and ‘The Bright Side of the Road’, Van’s song from his album ‘Into the Music’. So the plan was for Brendan to sing ‘Follow On’ and then to duet with Van on ‘Bright Side’. Paul started off with just a couple with the band and then on came the brass section for ‘Don’t Start Knocking’.’Love Hurts’ and with Paul on piano ‘Dancer in the Fire’ from the ‘Hard Station’ album. Next on was Brendan. The audience loved him, such is his unique combination of shyness with charisma. Paul and the band just played while Brendan sang lead. Then it’s Van and straight away everything moves up a couple of gears. The man’s energy is amazing. Paul moved to piano and counted in ‘The Bright Side of The Road’. Arty McGlynn joins on guitar. Van and Brendan traded lines and verses and had a real go at each other vocally which brought smiles to both their faces and roars of approval from the audience! Brendan left to huge cheers and then Paul and Van took up with ‘Irish Heartbeat’ and Van’s ‘I Will Be There’. Derek O’Connor left down his tenor to take over the piano for this song. What a talent he is. Van seemed to enjoy himself more and more and by the time he went off the place was going nuts. What to do next? Bring it right down to a whole other thing with ‘Love Goes On’ again with the beautifully understated brass. It was the perfect thing to follow and gradually the set took off again with especially ‘The Soul Commotion’ and Brendan back again for ‘The World Is What You Make it’. Van came back at the end to join Paul on the Ray Charles classic, ‘You Don’t Know Me’ which again was a beautiful thing. ‘Steel Claw’ with the brass was the perfect end to a night in a million.

  • Van Morrison - Caledonia Soul Music

    16:19

A Van Morrison studio outtake of murky origins – it has to be late 60s/early 70s, maybe from the Moondance sessions? Not sure if you could call this a “song,” exactly. It’s a vamp (a Vanp?), with Morrison cycling through two chords, coaxing his band along, singing a few stray phrases. Not much more happens over the course of 16+ minutes, but the whole thing is positively hypnotic. Van Morrison is notorious for being a bit of a grouch personally, but he’s filled with joy here. He doesn’t want to play this music, he wants to live in it. And for a little while, he wants you there, too. -
