  • Railfanning Chicagoland: A Great Day of Railfanning in Naperville and West Chicago, Illinois.

Hey everyone! Here is another great video from Chicagoland of action on the BNSF Racetrack in Naperville and in West Chicago, the junction of the former Chicago & North Western mainline and the Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern mainline. This junction is now operated by Union Pacific and Canadian National. In addition, this was the first time I visited both places, and they certainly did not disappoint.

The day starts of in Naperville where we see a local and a BNSF freight train with eight units, six of them CSX, shortly after followed by the eastbound Illinois Zephyr on its way to Chicago from Galesburg. Unfortunately, there was track maintenance for BNSF that morning, and the only trains that would run during the maintenance were the Metra trains to and from Chicago. So, I decided to go to West Chicago for a bit.

West Chicago pretty great, as you will see, there was an abundance of freight trains from Union Pacific, a few Metra trains, and a Canadian National oil train. However, I did want to return to Naperville to see at least one Amtrak train. With much luck, I not only saw one Amtrak train (the westbound California Zephyr), but four Amtrak trains (both Southwest Chiefs and the eastbound California Zephyr), as well as the Amtrak Phase III Heritage Unit, a BNSF Warbonnet, and the Norfolk Southern Bar Code Unit. Traffic for BNSF did indeed pick up in the afternoon and I was able to see a great number of trains in Naperville after all.

Over all, it was an exciting day of railfanning and an unforgettable first time in both places. Hope you enjoy the video!

  • BASTILLE - POMPEII | cocohong

This was so much fun to film! I'm starting a series of videos concerning BASTILLE because I see them on APRIL 3 (and i love them so much and they are my life)! This one is the first and it's Pompeii by Bastille because it's the first song I heard from them. Lauren and Callista, Maddie's friend were visiting and they said yes to joining this cover video!!!
Thank you to Gaby for filming this video for me!!! Thanks to Maddie, Callista, and Lauren for agreeing to be in this video (and singing in front of strangers in a tunnel) with me.

I'm learning so much from my editing class at columbia college chicago, and I used some of the things I learned in that class this video. I learned how to merge a video clip and an audio clip! I played around with some colors as well, but I'm still learning, so that's fine. I'm labeling the projects correctly as well! I love learning!

I LOVE CHICAGO SO MUCH, and I wanted to ABUSE THIS CITY by squeezing all the content I can and using it to the max. I love it I love it I love it. and I want you to love it too. so here is Harrison, on the red line stop of the Chicago Transit System. It's the one closest to me and it's 24 hours and it takes me everywhere. i'm so grateful to a first world country and reliable transportation system. this is what chicago is to me, and i hope you like seeing it through my lens.

  • Cindys | Cheers to Sunshine | Chicagos Best Rooftop Bars

Chicago's got plenty of rooftop bars that afford bird's-eye views of glass and metal buildings. But take the hike up to the 13th-floor terrace at Cindy's (12 S. Michigan Ave., Loop) and you'll get an ethereal sweep of the natural and urban: the blue from Lake Michigan, verdant treetops in Millennium Park, and shiny skyscrapers enveloping both edges of the view.

Now, you can enjoy your beverages al fresco without the hassle of going inside to order; they've opened a new outdoor bar, featuring wine, large-format cocktails, and boozy popsicles. Just be prepared to elbow your way toward a prime Instagram location.

Chicago magazine raises a glass to drinking establishments we love. This June, we cheers to sunshine—visiting some of our favorite outdoor bars where you can enjoy our beautiful Chicago summers while indulging in frosty beverages. Check out these top-notch Chicago patio and rooftop bars that make our long winters worth the wait.

  • BiG BOY🌪️Union Pacific 4014

For my nephew KEViN🌪️HAPPY BIRTHDAY! August 8, 2014
    October 2019 Los Angeles Times:
Itinerary of Kyle B. F. Swartz:

I love driving trains. It's my pride and joy!
    ~ Walt Disney

The best known and most admired of all railroaders is the locomotive engineer. The envy of boys everywhere since the first locomotives gasped steam and chuffed forward, the engineer, with his hand on the throttle, controls the locomotive's power.
~ Brian Solomon, Working on the Railroad

In his continual search for something better, man has devised and created goods and machines that have left more than a passing impression on his generations. It is a credit to our way of life that though these creations are taken for granted by most people, there are always those who possess an undying interest in a creation with which they may never have direct contact. Thus it is that while some gaze rapturously at an aged Mississippi stern wheeler and collect souvenirs of its kind, others spend their lives searching for and collecting postage stamps, coins, and the like from distant corners of the globe. Antique automobiles, modern airplanes, and rockets all come in for their share of attention; in fact, very little that man has created does not gather a following, sometimes momentarily interested spectators or again avid followers whose quest for information and experiences knows no bounds. No other devising of man created such an enthusiastic following as that of the most nearly human of his creations, the American steam locomotive. Since its inception it has been an object of attention and fascination on the part of the American public. Though its construction and operation are really quite simple, its outside motion and near human laborings have never ceased to arouse amazement and fascination on the faces of onlookers. No other machine has so universally captured the public's imagination and affection.
~ Joe Collias, The Last of Steam

At 11:45 a.m. CT Friday, July 26, 2019 Union Pacific Railroad 4014 The Big Boy thundered through Glenview, IL. In my 27 years on this Earth, very few milestone events such as the Monday, August 21, 2017 Total Eclipse could compare to this profound, miraculous and sentimental experience. To see UP 4014 Big Boy Steam Locomotive for the first time in my childhood hometown of Glenview where my love of trains all began is what makes this experience so profound, miraculous and sentimental. A lifelong dream come true! A blessing to be humbled by. This is a memory that will stay in my heart forever. Special thanks to railroad attorney Mike Blaszak of Trains Magazine, Chicago & North Western Historical Society and Author of Chicago: America's Railroad Capital, North Western Lines and Pennsylvania Railroad who conducted the chase operation with me from Glenview. A very BiG special thanks to Ed Dickens, Chief Locomotive Engineer of UP 4014. The Big Boy was on display at UP Larry S.
