    Lyrics:

Every breath you take and every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take, I'll be watching you
Every single day, every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay, I'll be watching you

Oh can't you see, you belong to me
How my poor heart aches with every step you take

Every move you make and every vow you break
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake, I'll be watching you

Since you've gone I've been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
    I look around, but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby, please

Oh can't you see, you belong to me
How my poor heart aches with every step you take

Every move you make and every vow you break
Every smile you fake, every claim you stake, I'll be watching you
Every move you make, every step you take, I'll be watching you

    I'll be watching you
(Every breath you take, every move you make)
(Every bond you break, every step you take)
    I'll be watching you
(Every single day, every word you say)
(Every game you play, every night you stay)
    I'll be watching you
(Every move you make, every vow you break)
(Every smile you fake, every claim you stake)
    I'll be watching you
(Every single day, every word you say)
(Every game you play, every night you stay)
    I'll be watching you
(Every breath you take, every move you make)
(Every bond you break, every step you take)

    - LYRICS -

Just a castaway, an island lost at sea, oh
Another lonely day with no one here but me, oh
More loneliness than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair, oh

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
    Message in a bottle, yeah
    Message in a bottle, yeah

A year has passed since I wrote my note
I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life but love can break your heart

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
    Message in a bottle, yeah
    Message in a bottle, yeah
Oh, message in a bottle, yeah
    Message in a bottle

Walked out this morning, don't believe what I saw
A hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone at being alone
A hundred billion castaways looking for a home

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
    Message in a bottle, yeah
    Message in a bottle, yeah
    Message in a bottle, oh
    Message in a bottle, yeah

    Sending out an SOS...

    Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light
    Those days are over
You don't have to sell your body to the night
    Roxanne
You don't have to wear that dress tonight
    Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

    Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light
    Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light

(Roxanne) Put on the red light
(Roxanne) Put on the red light
(Roxanne) Put on the red light
(Roxanne) Put on the red light
(Roxanne) Put on the red light
    Oh

I loved you since I knew ya
I wouldn't talk down to ya
I have to tell you just how I feel
I won't share you with another boy
I know my mind is made up
So put away your make up
Told you once I won't tell you again it's a bad way

    Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light
    Roxanne
You don't have to put on the red light

(Roxanne) You don't have to put on the red light

    - LYRICS -

    Young teacher, the subject
    Of schoolgirl fantasy
    She wants him so badly
Knows what she wants to be
    Inside her there's longing
    This girl's an open page
Book marking, she's so close now
This girl is half his age

    Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me
    Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me

    Her friends are so jealous
You know how bad girls get
    Sometimes it's not so easy
    To be the teacher's pet
    Temptation, frustration
So bad it makes him cry
    Wet bus stop, she's waiting
His car is warm and dry

    Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me
    Don't stand, don't stand so
Don't stand so close to me

    Loose talk in the classroom
To hurt they try and try
    Strong words in the staffroom
    The accusations fly
It's no use, he sees her
He starts to shake and cough
Just like the old man in
    That book by Nabokov

Don't stand so close to me
Please don't stand so close to me

    Don't think me unkind
    Words are hard to find
The only cheques I've left unsigned
From the banks of chaos in my mind
And when their eloquence escapes me
Their logic ties me up and rapes me

De do do do, de da da da
Is all I want to say to you
De do do do, de da da da
Their innocence will pull me through
De do do do, de da da da
Is all I want to say to you
De do do do, de da da da
They're meaningless and all that's true

    Poets, priests, and politicians
Have words to thank for their positions
Words that scream for your submission
And no one's jamming their transmission
Because when their eloquence escapes you
Their logic ties you up and rapes you

De do do do, de da da da
Is all I want to say to you
De do do do, de da da da
Their innocence will pull me through
De do do do, de da da da
Is all I want to say to you
De do do do, de da da da
They're meaningless and all that's true

Giant steps are what you take
    Walking on the moon
I hope my legs don't break
    Walking on the moon
    We could walk forever
    Walking on the moon
    We could live together
Walking on, walking on the moon

    Walking back from your house
    Walking on the moon
    Walking back from your house
    Walking on the moon
Feet they hardly touch the ground
    Walking on the moon
My feet don't hardly make no sound
Walking on, walking on the moon

    Some may say
    I'm wishing my days away
    No way
And if it's the price I pay
    Some say
    Tomorrow's another day
    You stay
    I may as well play

Giant steps are what you take
    Walking on the moon
I hope my legs don't break
    Walking on the moon
    We could walk forever
    Walking on the moon
    We could be together
Walking on, walking on the moon

    Some may say
    I'm wishing my days away
    No way
And if it's the price I pay
    Some say
    Tomorrow's another day

You consider me the young apprentice
Caught between the Scylla and Charibdis
Hypnotized by you if I should linger
Staring at the ring around your finger

I have only come here seeking knowledge
Things they would not teach me of in college
I can see the destiny you sold
Turn into a shining band of gold

I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger

    Mephistopheles is not your name
But I know what you're up to just the same
I will listen hard to your tuition
And you will see it come to its fruition

I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger

Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
Vanish in the air you'll never find me
I will turn your flesh to alabaster
When you find your servant is your master

And you'll be wrapped around my finger

    - LYRICS -

Though I've tried before to tell her
Of the feelings I have for her in my heart
Every time that I come near her
I just lose my nerve as I've done from the start

Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she does just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on

Do I have to tell the story
Of a thousand rainy days since we first met
    It's a big enough umbrella
But it's always me that ends up getting wet

Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she does just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on

I resolved to call her up
    A thousand times a day
Ask her if she'll marry me
    In some old fashioned way
But my silent fears have gripped me
Long before I reach the phone
Long before my tongue has tripped me
    Must I always be alone

Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she does just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on
Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she does just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on

Every little thing, every little thing
    Every, every little thing
Every little, every little, every little
    Every little thing she does
    Every little thing she does
    Every little thing she does
    Every little thing she does
    That she does is magic
Eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh
Eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh
Eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh
Eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh, eee oh oh
    Every little thing
    Every little thing
Every little thing, she does is magic, magic, magic
    Magic, magic, magic
    Ey oh, yo oh
Eee oh oh oh oh oh

Do I have to tell the story
Of a thousand rainy days since we first met

    - LYRICS -

I've called you so many times today
And I guess it's all true what your girlfriends say
That you don't ever want to see me again
And your brother's gonna kill me and he's six feet ten
I guess you'd call it cowardice
But I'm not prepared to go on like this

    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't
    I can't stand losing you
    I can't stand losing you
    I can't stand losing you
    I can't stand losing you

I see you've sent my letters back
And my LP records and they're all scratched
I can't see the point in another day
When nobody listens to a word I say
You can call it lack of confidence
But to carry on living doesn't make no sense

    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing

I guess this is our last goodbye
And you don't care so I won't cry
But you'll be sorry when I'm dead
And all this guilt will be on your head
I guess you'd call it suicide
But I'm too full to swallow my pride

    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing
    I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing

    There is no political solution
    To our troubled evolution
    Have no faith in constitution
    There is no bloody revolution

We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world

    Our so-called leaders speak
With words they try to jail you
    They subjugate the meek
But it's the rhetoric of failure

We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world

    Where does the answer lie?
    Living from day to day
If it's something we can't buy
    There must be another way

We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world

    Well, someone told me yesterday
That when you throw your love away
You act as if you just don't care
You look as if you're going somewhere
But I just can't convince myself
I couldn't live with no one else
And I can only play that part
And sit and nurse my broken heart

    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely

Now no-one's knocked upon my door
For a thousand years, or more
All made up and nowhere to go
Welcome to this one man show
Just take a seat, they're always free
    No surprise, no mystery
In this theatre that I call my soul
I always play the starring role

    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely
    So lonely

    - LYRICS -

    Another suburban family morning
    Grandmother screaming at the wall
We have to shout above the din of our Rice Krispies
We can't hear anything at all
Mother chants her litany of boredom and frustration
But we know all her suicides are fake
Daddy only stares into the distance
There's only so much more that he can take
    Many miles away
    Something crawls from the slime
At the bottom of a dark Scottish lake

    Another industrial ugly morning
The factory belches filth into the sky
He walks unhindered through the picket lines today
He doesn't think to wonder why
The secretaries pout and preen like
Cheap tarts in a red light street
But all he ever thinks to do is watch
And every single meeting with his so-called superior
Is a humiliating kick in the crotch
    Many miles away
    Something crawls to the surface
    Of a dark Scottish loch

    Another working day has ended
Only the rush hour hell to face
Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes
    Contestants in a suicidal race
Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance
He knows that something somewhere has to break
He sees the family home now looming in his headlights
The pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache
    Many miles away
There's a shadow on the door
Of a cottage on the shore
    Of a dark Scottish lake
Many miles away, many miles away

One, two, three, four, five, six
Oh oh oh oh oh oh

I don't want to spend the rest of my life
Looking at the barrel of an Armalite
I don't want to spend the rest of my days
Keeping out of trouble like the soldiers say

I don't want to spend my time in hell
Looking at the walls of a prison cell
I don't ever want to play the part
Of a statistic on a government chart

There has to be an invisible sun
It gives its heat to everyone
There has to be an invisible sun
That gives us hope when the whole day's done

It's dark all day and it glows all night
    Factory smoke and acetylene light
I face the day with me head caved in
Looking like something that the cat brought in

There has to be an invisible sun
It gives its heat to everyone
There has to be an invisible sun
That gives us hope when the whole day's done

And they're only going to change this place
By killing everybody in the human race
They would kill me for a cigarette
But I don't even wanna die just yet

There has to be an invisible sun
It gives its heat to everyone
There has to be an invisible sun
That gives us hope when the whole day's done
Oh oh oh oh oh oh

(HQ digital stereo remaster) Before anyone accuses me of fraud, this really is the official music video released in Australia for King Of Pain. It was shown on the iconic ABC music programme Countdown on 11 March 1984. It is as an edited version of The Police's album promo film Studies In Synchronicity. The ABC's Countdown was so powerful in the music industry in the '80s that it alone could make or break songs and artists - no video, no promotion, no chance. So A&M had little choice but to put this together in order to promote this song in Australia, the fourth single from the Synchronicity album. That makes it an official music video. I don't know if it was shown anywhere else in the world.

The Police - Walking on The Moon lyrics

Giant steps are what you take
    Walking on the moon
I hope my legs don't break
    Walking on the moon
    We could walk forever
    Walking on the moon
    We could live together
Walking on, walking on the moon

    Walking back from your house
    Walking on the moon
    Walking back from your house
    Walking on the moon
Feet they hardly touch the ground
    Walking on the moon
My feet don't hardly make no sound
Walking on, walking on the moon

    Some may say
    I'm wishing my days away
    No way
And if it's the price I pay
    Some say
    Tomorrow's another day
    You stay
    I may as well play

Giant steps are what you take
    Walking on the moon
I hope my legs don't break
    Walking on the moon
    We could walk forever
    Walking on the moon
    We could be together
Walking on, walking on the moon

    Some may say
    I'm wishing my days away
    No way
And if it's the price I pay

There's a little black spot on the sun today
It's the same old thing as yesterday
There's a black hat caught in the high tree top
There's a flag pole rag and the wind won't stop
I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain
There's a little black spot on the sun today, that's my soul up there
It's the same old thing as yesterday, that's my soul up there
There's a black hat caught in a high tree top, that's my soul up there
There's a flag pole rag and the wind won't stop, that's my soul up there
I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain
There's a fossil that's trapped in a high cliff wall, that's my soul up there
There's a dead salmon frozen in a waterfall, that's my soul up there
There's a blue whale beached by a springtide's ebb, that's my soul up there
There's a butterfly trapped in a spider's web, that's my soul up there
I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain
There's a king on a throne with his eyes torn out
There's a blind man looking for a shadow of doubt
There's a rich man sleeping on a golden bed
There's a skeleton choking on a crust of bread
There's a red fox torn by a huntmen's pack, that's my soul up there
There's a black winged gull with a broken back, that's my soul up there
There's a little black spot on the sun today
It's the same old thing as yesterday
I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign

  • King Of Pain - The Police

    5:02

I've discovered this little masterpiece of songwriting recently, and I've immediately fallen in love with it. It was released in 1983 as forth single of the epic album Syncronicity by Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland, the Police.
The lyrics are both simple and powerful, the metaphors talk directly to the listeners, there's something magical in the echoes... simply amazing... For me, the meaning of al the song is concentrated in one line, That's my soul up there... It makes me cry, especially the last lines, I'll always be the king of pain, it describes fully me...
May the Music be with you all!

    3:54

The first musical act for the Grammy Awards for 2007 was The Police, the original group led by Sting. This performance wins my vote for second best of the night. As a side comment, here is a perfect example of why a good bass player is so important in a rock band. It amazes me when I read or hear people dismiss the bass player as sort of a background instrument. Another famous rock band I can think of also had a bass player as their star performer....

    BANDCAMP:

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
    Those days are over
You don't have to sell your body to the night
Roxanne, you don't have to wear that dress tonight
    Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
Put on the red light, oh

I loved you since I knew ya
I wouldn't talk down to ya
I have to tell you just how I feel
I won't share you with another boy
I know my mind is made up
So put away your make up
Told you once I won't tell you again it's a bad way

Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light

Tell me what you think I’m supposed to do
With a life like this I've got so much to prove yea
Day and night it’s me and gorilla glue
    Hell of a two
    Lights spark the fuse
    The smoke clears so beautifully

Stop calling the police on me
This is not the help I need no
You don't live the life I lead
You don't see the path I see no
You don't breathe the air I breathe
    We're on different frequencies
So if you had believed in me
You would have stopped calling the police on me

Stop calling just leave me alone
Or i'll hit you with that dial tone
Called me one two three times in a row
    Uno uno dos tres
    I won't want no stress
I don't care where we go
I hope it’s far away from home
    Late nights in Americana
Dreaming bout life in tropicana I wanna
    Go where family means ohana
    Call my pharmaceutical doctor
    I'm gone I’m loose
With a life like this i've got so much to prove yea
Day and night it’s me and gorilla glue
    Hell of a two
    Lights spark the fuse
    The smoke clears so beautifully

    Get over it

So many things that I wanna say
You know I like my girls a little bit older
I just wanna use your love tonight
I don't wanna lose your love tonight

I ain't got many friends left to talk to
No-one's around when I'm in trouble
You know I'd do anything for you
Stay the night - we'll keep it under cover
I just wanna use your love tonight
I don't wanna lose your love tonight

Try to stop my hands from shakin'
Somethin' in my mind's not makin' sense
It's been awhile since we've been all alone
    I can't hide the way I'mm feelin'

As you leave me please would you close the door
and don't forget what I told you
Just 'cause you're right - that don't mean I'm wrong
    Another shoulder to cry upon
I just wanna use your love tonight
I don't wanna lose your love tonight
    Yeah
I just wanna use your love tonight
I don't wanna lose your love tonight
    Lose your love
    Lose your love

  • The Police ~ One World ~ Synchronicity Concert 1983

    5:24

This live video shows The Police at The Omni Coliseum in Atlanta on 11-03-1983. Originally The Police wanted to release another concert, but were not satisfied with their 08-02-1983 performance. So directors Godley & Creme filmed them again at The Omni in Atlanta, GA, USA on 11-02-1983 and 11-03-1983. Some audience shots from the August performance were still used for the official release.

The Police's Synchronicity Tour ran between July 23, 1983 and March 4, 1984.

During the early dates, the band resided at a mansion in Bridgehampton, New York and were flown to the concerts. This was the band's final tour as a working unit and one of the highest-grossing tours of the 1980's.

I was never relaxed, drummer Stewart Copeland recalled. I had so much anxiety. And I know how crazy that must sound to people who do real jobs. Copeland did however cite the August 18 show at Shea Stadium as the peak of Policemania: Playing Shea Stadium was big because, even though I'm a septic tank (rhyming slang for 'Yank'), The Police is an English band and I'm a Londoner – an American Londoner – so it felt like conquering America.

The November 2 and 3 shows in Atlanta were filmed and recorded for a live album and DVD.

One World (not three) is the is the eighth track from the band's fourth studio album titled Ghost in the Machine, recorded at AIR Studios, Montserrat & Le Studio, Quebec, Canada assisted by record producer Hugh Padgham between January & September 1981 and released on October 2, 1981.

The song refers to third world countries in need of assistance and advises us that we should all unite together as ‘one world’ instead of dividing ourselves through geographical lines.

Drummer Stewart Copeland had originally written lyrics for the song, but Sting replaced them with his own. Copeland claimed Sting found the term ‘Third World’ to be “patronizing”.

In a 2000 discussion with Revolver, the band shared the following:

Revolver: One World is the most ‘old-school’ Police song on the album.

Copeland: And it was my favorite song at the time because it did have that early Police vibe, where we jammed on one chord for hours.

Summers: Unfortunately, I never did find out what that one chord was.

Copeland: I guess Sting had a problem with the term ‘Third World’. He thought it patronizing or something. I had all these political arguments about the Cold War. Sting and I would argue about politics, and I would lay waste to his flimsy arguments. There he’d be at the table shattered! Then he’d quickly disappear up into his hotel room. Where he’d…

    Sting: Snore, actually.

Copeland: And he’d come in the next morning with one line – just three or four words – that would shatter my logical, geopolitical, arguments. “One World Is Enough!”

Sting: Stewart, you can’t argue with a metaphor.

*The supporting act for the band during this concert was The Fixx.

  • Message in a Bottle - The Police - Drum Cover By Domenic Nardone

Here I am attempting to be Stewart Copeland for 5 minutes. He has always been one of my favourite drummers! I used a new camera for this video. I bought a small GoPro Hero 2 camera, a cool waterproof, high definition video camera that is more geared toward sports related video. You can strap it to your wrist, chest or head and attach it to helmets. In this video, I've got the camera strapped to my head so it gives a unique drummer POV (point of view) If you want to see how the camera reacts to running and going underwater, check out this video...

I filmed the song a few times, Once with the GoPro on my head and the other times without it (so I wouldn't look like a goof in the other views).

As in all my other videos, the audio is recorded once...usually while I'm filming the front view. In this case, I had two HiDef cameras filming while I recorded. The front view and side view. All other views were filmed separately. If I make a mistake while filming another view, I always revert back to the front view for that scene.....it ain't rocket science :)

  • The Police ~ Hole in my Life ~ Synchronicity Concert 1983

Hole in my Life is the fourth track from the debut studio album by The Police titled Outlandos d'Amour recorded at Surrey Sound Studios in Leatherhead, Surrey in the south of England between January & June 1978 and released on November 2, 1978. The album was recorded in an intermittent fashion over six months, with the band jumping in whenever the studio had free time or another band's sessions were cancelled. The album, while at times incorporating reggae, pop and other elements of what would eventually become the band's definitive sound, is dominated by punk influences.

Written by Sting, “Hole in My Life” is a reggae-influenced song about a man who struggles with depression and loneliness, possibly from heartbreak. Its concept is similar to that of “Can’t Stand Losing You.”

Outlandos d'Amour was certified gold by the RIAA in 1981 for sales of over 500,000 copies in the United States, and in 1984, the album attained platinum certification after shipping one million units.
