Are you going to Scarborough fair?
    Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
He once was a true love of mine

Tell him to make me a cambric shirt
    Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
    Without no seam nor needlework
Then he'll be a true love of mine

Tell him to find me an acre of land
    Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Between the salt water and the sea strand
Then he'll be a true love of mine

Are you going to Scarborough fair?

    Lyrics:

Come away with me in the night
    Come away with me
And I will write you a song
Come away with me on a bus
Come away where they can't tempt us, with their lies
And I want to walk with you
    On a cloudy day
In fields where the yellow grass grows knee-high
So won't you try to come
Come away with me and we'll kiss
    On a mountaintop
    Come away with me
And I'll never stop loving you
And I want to wake up with the rain
    Falling on a tin roof
While I'm safe there in your arms
So all I ask is for you
To come away with me in the night
    Come away with me

  • Dan Fogelberg - Same Old Lang Syne

    5:24

Same Old Lang Syne is a song sung by Dan Fogelberg released as a single in 1980. It was also included on his 1981 album The Innocent Age. The song is a narrative ballad told in the first person and tells the story of two long-ago lovers meeting by chance in a supermarket on Christmas Eve. The melody phrase at the beginning of each verse is taken by Fogelberg from Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. It is now frequently played during the holiday season and is integrated with traditional Christmas songs. The song ends with a soprano saxophone solo by Michael Brecker based on the melody from the original Auld Lang Syne.

As Fogelberg stated on his official website, the song was autobiographical. He was visiting family back home in Peoria, Illinois in the mid-'70s when he ran into an old girlfriend at a convenience store.

After Fogelberg's death from prostate cancer in 2007, the woman about whom he wrote the song came forward with her story. Her name is Jill Greulich, and she and Fogelberg dated in high school when she was Jill Anderson. As she explained to the Peoria Journal Star in a December 22, 2007 article, they were part of the Woodruff High School class of 1969, but went to different colleges. After college, Jill got married and moved to Chicago, and Dan went to Colorado to pursue music. On December 24, 1976, they were each back in Peoria with their families for Christmas when Jill went out for eggnog and Dan was dispatched to find whipping cream for Irish coffee. The only place open was a convenience store at the top of Abington Hill where they had their encounter, located at 1302 East Frye Avenue. Today, the store is still in business and is now called Short Stop Food Mart. They bought a six pack of beer and drank it in her car for two hours while they talked.

Five years later, Jill heard Same Old Lang Syne on the radio while driving to work, but she kept quiet about it, as Fogelberg also refused to reveal her identity. Her main concern was that coming forward would disrupt Fogelberg's marriage.

Looking at the lyrics, Jill says there are two inaccuracies: She has green eyes, not blue, and her husband was not an architect - he was a physical education teacher, and it is unlikely Fogelberg knew his profession anyway. Regarding the line, She would have liked to say she loved the man, but she didn't like to lie, Jill will not talk about it, but she had divorced her husband by the time the song was released.

Met my old lover in the grocery store
The snow was falling Christmas Eve
I stole behind her in the frozen foods
And I touched her on the sleeve
She didn't recognize the face at first
But then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried.

We took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totalled up and bagged
We stood there lost in our embarrassment
    As the conversation dragged.
We went to have ourselves a drink or two
But couldn't find an open bar
We bought a six-pack at the liquor store
And we drank it in her car.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness
    But neither one knew how.

She said she'd married her an architect
Who kept her warm and safe and dry
She would have liked to say she loved the man
But she didn't like to lie.
I said the years had been a friend to her
And that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasn't sure if I
    Saw doubt or gratitude.

She said she saw me in the record stores
And that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly
    But the traveling was hell.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness
    But neither one knew how.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to time
    Reliving in our eloquence
    Another 'auld lang syne'...

The beer was empty and our tongues were tired
And running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
And I watched her drive away.

Just for a moment I was back at school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
    The snow turned into rain

    Should old acquaintance be forgot
    And never brought to mind
    Should all acquaintance be forgot
    And auld lang syne

    Brother - Lyrics
    When we were young
We were the ones the kings and queens, oh yeah we ruled the world
We smoked cigarettes, man no regrets
wish I could re live every single word

We've taken different paths and travelled different roads
I know we'll always end up on the same one when we're old
And when we're in the trenches and you're under fire I will cover you

If I was dying on my knees
You would be the one to rescue me
And if you were drowned at sea
I'd give you my lungs so you could breathe

    I've got you brother
    I've got you brother
    I've got you brother
    I've got you brother

Oh brother we go deeper than the ink beneath the skin of our tattoos
No we don't share the same blood,
You're my brother and I love you that's the truth

We're living different lives,, heaven only knows
If we'll make it back with all our fingers and our toes
Five years, twenty years come back, we'll always be the same

If I was dying on my knees
You would be the one to rescue me
And if you were drowned at sea
I'd give you my lungs so you could breathe

    I've got you brother
    I've got you brother
    I've got you brother
    I've got you brother

And if we hit on troubled water
I'll be the one to keep you warm and safe
And we'll be carrying each other
Until we say goodbye on our dying day

    Because I've got you brother
    I've got you brother
    I've got you brother
    I've got you brother

If I was dying on my knees
You would be the one to rescue me
And if you were drowned at sea
I'd give you my lungs so you could breathe

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh x 2

    I've got you brother
    I've got you brother

  • You Make Me Want To Dance - Original Song | Lauryn Marie

    4:03

    Happy Valentine's Day :)

    Lyrics:
i can see you on my front porch
    smiling time and time again
each new evening we’d get closer
    waiting to begin

now the songs i used to sing
    are filled with new meaning
    you are the lyrics
    i long to memorize
you make me want to dance
and you know i’m not a dancer
but everything changes when i look in your eyes

take me to the city i will
    let you lead the way
letting you in, makes me feel like
    vulnerable’s okay

now the songs i used to sing
    are filled with new meaning
    you are the lyrics
    i long to memorize
you make me want to dance
and you know i’m not a dancer
but everything changes when i look in your eyes

you make me feel safe and loved
and that’s more than enough for me
    we’re not like anyone else
and from what i can tell
    that’s the best thing

now the songs i used to sing
    are filled with new meaning
    you are the lyrics
    that i romanticize
you make me want to dance
and you know i’m not a dancer
but everything changes when i look in your eyes

  • Crappy Holiday

    5:52

Here's a song for anyone who did not enjoy Valentine's Day or a myriad of the other holidays. Recorded at Rarefied Recording in San Diego, CA.

People ask me about my resolution
mine is to stay out of a mental institution
    I say that half jokingly
I know it's not me It's this world that's crazy

    It was a crappy holiday
    but I'll be ok

    Valentine’s Day came and went
and I professed my love to my ex-girlfriend
But I don’t regret that text that I sent
though she replied she's now pregnant

St Patrick’s Day I got sad again
A girl I really like came out to hear my band
People drunk and screaming you couldn’t hear a thing
Then she introduced me to her Irish boyfriend

And 4th of July I was a lonely guy
I asked a girl out, that I also like
She told me unless I’ve make up my mind
to leave her alone and to go crawl away and die

Halloween is supposed to be scary
So why all these girls dressed so sexy
Don't they know it makes me feel more lonely
when I have to go home alone drunk and horny

    Please excuse my negativity
but last year just ended terribly for me
Alone with a flu for Christmas good grief
dumped by a girl 3 days before New Year’s Eve

Now here is a mildly happy ending
I just paid my bills and I’m making a living
Life is magical when I let it be
Thank God I’m alive and still breathing

    Already Gone
    by MattyBRaps

    You just wanna rescue me
    But I'm already gone
Could of had the best of me
But I chose to be strong
Now you're blowning up my phone
But I won't turn it on
You keep calling out my name
    But I'm already gone

    It's a cold world
    That we live in
Growing up and discovering you got fake friends
    When you've been real
    And you stayed true
But you realize what they care about and it ain't you
When you feelin' like you just lost
    That one person you knew
But there's nothing that you can do (nah)
    Real love it takes two
    They life isn't a movie
    'nother episode
So you keep it all to yourself
But your hearts about to expload

    You just wanna rescue me
    But I'm already gone
Could of had the best of me
But I chose to be strong
Now you're blowning up my phone
But I won't turn it on
You keep calling out my name
    But I'm already gone

    You feel sickness
    When you witness
    Someone close betray
All that trust that you once built up
And you watch it crumble away
    You replay every word
All the lies that you were fed
How they pushed you and they pulled you
And they messed around with your head
See all that love you felt was real
So you're wondering what went wrong
And you start to question what's real love
And what's been a lie all along
2nd guessin what you've been told
When you feel lost and alone
Cause that person that you would run to
Just ain't that person no more

    You just wanna rescue me
    But I'm already gone
Could of had the best of me
But I chose to be strong
Now you're blowning up my phone
But I won't turn it on
You keep calling out my name
    But I'm already gone

A real friend wouldn't hurt ya
A true friend won't desert ya
And if it's meant to be
    They can disagree
But in the end they still your person
A true friend could never lie (no lie)
    Stay standing up for you
    Cause in the end
    If it's not pretend, then
    That's what real friends do

    You just wanna rescue me
    But I'm already gone
Could of had the best of me
But I chose to be strong
Now you're blowning up my phone
But I won't turn it on
You keep calling out my name
    But I'm already gone

    Lyrics

She's been living in her uptown world
I bet she never had a back street guy
I bet her mama never told her why

I'm gonna try for an uptown girl
She's been living in her white bread world
As long as anyone with hot blood can
And now she's looking for a downtown man
    That's what I am

    And when she knows what
    She wants from her time
    And when she wakes up
    And makes up her mind

She'll see I'm not so tough
    Just because
I'm in love with an uptown girl
You know I've seen her in her uptown world
She's getting tired of her high class toys
And all her presents from her uptown boys
    She's got a choice

    Uptown girl
You know I can't afford to buy her pearls
But maybe someday when my ship comes in
She'll understand what kind of guy I've been
    And then I'll win

    And when she's walking
    She's looking so fine
    And when she's talking
    She'll say that she's mine

She'll say I'm not so tough
    Just because
    I'm in love
    With an uptown girl
She's been living in her white bread world
As long as anyone with hot blood can
And now she's looking for a downtown man
    That's what I am

    Uptown girl
    She's my uptown girl
    You know I'm in love
    With an uptown girl

    My uptown girl
    You know I'm in love
    With an uptown girl
    My uptown girl
    You know I'm in love
    With an uptown girl
    My uptown girl

    Daddy's Angel Lyrics:

    I'm giving you away
    But I'm not letting go
The memories, they flood my mind
Of the little girl I know
    Once upon a time
You held my hand so tight
You'd close your eyes and say a prayer
Then I'd kiss your head goodnight

As we dance I keep our love deep within my heart
And thank God for giving me this angel in my arms...

    You're my little angel
    So baby don't you cry
It's time to spread your wings and fly
If there's one thing this father knows
The hardest part is letting go
But you will still always be...
    Daddy's little angel

    It seems like yesterday
Has come and gone so fast
Now my baby's all grown up
    But the memories will last

    It's hard to say goodbye
When you've always been so near
But for now I'll hold you tight
Like those times that I hold dear

As we dance I keep our love deep within my heart
And thank God for giving me this angel in my arms...

    You're my little angel
    So baby don't you cry
It's time to spread your wings and fly
If there's one thing this father knows
The hardest part is letting go
But you will still always be...
    Daddy's little angel

When you were young, I used to laugh
At the funny things you'd say
Right now I just can't help but smile...
    On this blessed day

    You're my little angel
    So baby don't you cry
It's time to spread your wings and fly
If there's one thing this father knows
The hardest part is letting go
But you will still always be...
    Daddy's little angel

I'm giving you away, but I'm not letting go...

    Lyrics by Rizzato Gala
Published by Baby Angel Music S.r.l. (Italy SIAE), Mollyville Publishing S.r.l.

Gala is a top dance music artist; she’s renowned for her minimal look and recognizable voice. Bearing the name of the muse of Salvador Dali and Paul Eluard, Gala left Italy when she was only 17 to attend a school of arts in Boston and moved to New York in 1993, where she portrayed music and underground art community.
Gala sold over 6 million records all over the world. Her debut album Come Into My Life (dated 1997) includes multiplatinum singles: ”Freed from Desire” (#2 in UK and present for 8 weeks in a row in UK Top10 charts), Let A Boy Cry (#3 in Hot 100 european charts) and Come Into My Life (#1 in Italy, Spain and Brasil).
In 1996 Gala was elected Best Female Performer of the Year by Italian magazine Musica e Dischi. In July 1997 she has been awarded with the Italian Dance Award as best pop/dance artist of the year and was elected Best Foreign Artist of the year at Midem in Cannes, France. Gala has been awarded with golden and platinum records in France and Benelux and with a golden record in the UK. In the same year she gained a nomination as Best Dance Act at Mobo Awards in the UK together with Prodigy, Chemical Brothers e Orbital. Between 1995 and 1998 Gala attended several TV shows such as BBC’s Top Of The Pop in the UK, Taratata, Les Année Tubes and Hit Machine on Canal M6 in France, MTV Germany and performed live in famous arenas such as Bercy stadium in Paris and Las Ventanas in Madrid.
In 2014 Frida Gold project presented the song Liebe ist meine rebellion, German remake of Freed from desire, and went gold in Germany!
In 2016 Sean Kennedy, supporter of Wigan Athletic FC, decided to “customize” Freed From Desire and dedicate it to the amazing performances of Will Grigg in League One. It quickly became a real anthem, first for Wigan’s supporters and then for those of Northern Ireland, who never miss the chance to cheer for their idol.
To celebrate her first 20 years, Gala is back with a new acoustic version, fully played and sung again and included in the soundtrack of the recent movie by Laurent Tirard titled Un homme à la hauteur, with Oscar-winning actor Jean Dujardin (The Artist).

The Tams - Take Away [Composer: Harry Middlebrooks] c/w Hey Girl Don't Bother Me [Composer: Ray Whitley] [USA ABC-Paramount 45-10573] Jun 1964

The Tams are an American vocal group from Atlanta, Georgia, who enjoyed their greatest chart success in the 1960s, but continued to chart in the 1970s, and the 1980s. Two separate lineups of the group continue to perform and record. One lineup, called 'The Original Tams with R.L. Smith', features original member Robert Lee Smith, and the other lineup is under the leadership of Charles Pope, the brother of co-founder Joe Pope.

The band formed in 1960, and took their name from the Tam o'shanter hats they wore on stage. By 1962, they had a hit single on Arlen Records. 'Untie Me', a Joe South composition, became a Top 20 on the Billboard R&B chart. The follow-up releases largely failed until 1964, when 'What Kind of Fool [Do You Think I Am]', reached the Top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song spent three weeks at number one on the Cash Box R&B chart. Many of their popular hits were written by Ray Whitley.

'Hey Girl Don't Bother Me' was also a modest US hit the same year. The Tams had only one further major US hit [in 1968] when 'Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy', peaked at #26 on the US R&B chart, and subsequently made the UK Top 40 in 1970.

Their 1965 recording 'I've Been Hurt' was their biggest regional hit [based on sales and airplay] prior to 1980.

The group reached the Number one slot in the UK Singles Chart in September 1971, with the re-issue of 'Hey Girl Don't Bother Me', thanks to its initial support from the then thriving UK Northern soul scene. The song also went to number one in Ireland, making them the first black soul group to top the Irish Charts.

The group didn't chart again until 1987, when their song 'There Ain't Nothing Like Shaggin'' reached #21 in UK, propelled by a regionally-popular dance known as the Carolina shag, which featured heavily in the subsequent 1989 film, Shag. However, the track was banned by the BBC because the word 'shag' means 'to have sexual intercourse' in colloquial British English.

Still quite popular in the Southeastern United States, they continue to record new music and perform at well-attended concerts. In 1999, they were featured performers with Jimmy Buffett on his CD, Beach House on the Moon, and also toured with him around the country.

American singer-songwriter Tameka Harris, born in 1975, is the daughter of Dianne Cottle-Pope and Charles Pope.
Charles Pope died from Alzheimer's disease on July 11, 2013, at the age of 76.

On June 25, 2019, The New York Times Magazine listed The Tams among hundreds of artists whose material was reportedly destroyed in the 2008 Universal fire.

  • Aileen Stanley and Billy Murray If I Had a Girl Like You Victor 19795 September 22, 1925

    2:38

Aileen Stanley and Billy Murray If I Had a Girl Like You Victor 19795 September 22, 1925.

Aileen Stanley visited Victor studios in August, 1915, and made her first Orthophonic discs, the name for Victor's early electric records.

She was immediately paired with Billy Murray though their efforts at If I Had A Girl Like You on August 20 and August 25 were rejected. From the August 20 session, only You're In Wrong With The Right Baby, sung by Stanley alone, was issued. Making several takes in the early days of electric recording was not unusual. Stanley was more successful in making the transition from acoustic to electric recording than most other singers who had enjoyed success in the early 1920s.

On September 22, 1925, Murray and Stanley cut If I Had A Girl Like You with enough success for a take to be issued. On Victor 19795, it was backed by Keep Your Skirt Down, Mary Ann, with Murray singing as an Irish mother.

In the Victor studio she worked regularly with Murray. Their first duets were When The Leaves Come Tumbling Down (19026) and You've Got To See Mamma Ev'ry Night (19027), cut on February 15, 1923. Murray's partnership with Stanley resulted in a wide stylistic range of recordings during the last years of Victor's acoustic era and then during the Orthophonic years. They include blues-derived numbers (You've Got to See Mamma Ev'ry Night, 19027), comic sketches (Nobody's Sweetheart, 19373), and ballads (It Had to Be You, 19373).

The voices of Murray and Stanley blended well in comic duets about sweethearts, at least on issued takes. On a surviving test pressing of D'ye Love Me, cut on November 6, 1925, the musical key appropriate for Stanley is too low for Murray, the tenor often straining, at times sounding like a baritone (weeks later Murray and Gladys Rice cut this, singing it in a higher key).

Murray and Stanley duets sold well despite this being an odd pairing. Born in 1877, Murray was significantly older. Though in some duets he sings in an Irish accent as Stanley's mother, in other songs Murray plays a lovesick teen, such as Whaddya Say We Get Together? (20065), Does She Love Me? (Positively-Absolutely) (20643), and I'm Gonna Dance Wit De Guy Wot Brung Me, made on June 27, 1927 (20822).

On Bridget O'Flynn (Where've Ya Been?) (20240), cut in 1926, Murray truly holds back in a way he never could in the acoustic era by literally whispering sweet-nothings during an opening comic skit--here again he has a role as boyfriend but later in the song sings as an Irish mother worried about her daughter. Many Murray and Stanley duets were innovative, resembling no other performances of the 1920s.

She had four sessions with Johnny Marvin during Victor's Orthophonic period, their version of Red Lips--Kiss My Blues Away (20714) selling especially well. Marvin by 1927 worked regularly for Victor, Murray's career in decline. On June 13, 1929, Stanley and Murray had a final session as a team. Victor issued the airplane song Katie, Keep Your Feet on the Ground (22040) but rejected Please Don't Cut Out My Sauerkraut.

Following a trend among female artists, Stanley performed as a torch singer in 1927 for Broken Hearted (20825) and in 1929 for I'll Get By, As Long As I Have You (21839). Her last two Victor discs were issued in 1930. Neither sold well. Success as an American entertainer began in the early 1920s and ended with that decade. She made some records in England in the mid-1930s.

From 1937 to 1959 Stanley ran with ex-husband Bob a coaching studio for developing singers. One contralto, who was Stanley's niece, adopted the name Aileen Stanley, Jr., and performed with her coach Aileen on a nostalgic radio show titled Music Hall Varieties (also featured were Beatrice Kay, Joe E. Howard and Irving Kaufman). Five numbers sung on July 25, 1946, by the older Aileen were pressed on Record 1352 of the NBC-produced Thesaurus Orthacoustic, and these radio transcription discs were sold to stations. Identified as a contralto, she is accompanied by the Music Hall Varieties Orchestra. The songs are I Was Born in Michigan, My Home Town Is A One Horse Town, Row Row Row, Let It Rain, Let It Pour, and The Nights Are Six Months Long. Only the first two songs had been recorded by Stanley in earlier years. (Performances by student Aileen Stanley, Jr., were made available on Record 1482. They include Down in Jungle Town and I Want To Go Back To Michigan.)

    3:36

Hey everyone, I hope you guys enjoy She. I've been working hard on getting this song out to you guys and thanks to the help of Brandon Daubenspeck, who helped me produce it, it's become a reality!

This song centers around someone going through an incredibly hard time. She struggles with substance abuse, domestic violence and other things that cause her world to be unimaginably difficult to exist in. I hope that through this song people take away a feeling of empathy and understanding. I didn't write this song about anyone in particular, but rather the pain that I know many face. I hope that when people listen to this song, they see her as a hurting, but gentle individual, that just got dealt the wrong hand in life. And had she received the help that she needed, she may have not only stayed alive, but thrived. If you are going through something right now, and you feel like you're alone in it, please know that you aren't, and there's many people (including me) who have been through similar things. No one can truly understand your personal experience, but we can try, and offer you un-judgmental love, respect and help. You deserve to be happy, to not just exist, but actually live.

I left some resources below for a number of different things. Please have the courage and the love for yourself to reach out when you need to. I know it seems scary, but it can be worth it to talk to someone, even if you just talk to someone, that's a positive step in the right direction. If you don't see a hotline for a particular thing you're struggling with, feel free to reach out to me and I'll help you find one. If you are internationally located, I've left a website there for you too.

Thank you guys for your constant support, I wouldn't have the courage to put my music out there if it weren't for you and I'm so incredibly greatful to you for that.

    Lyrics-
She was a pack of smokes and bleeding skin
She was a Sunday morning hangover oh where do I begin
She was a sea of past regrets and didn't know how to swim
She was a shot of unmarked vodka that never seemed to win

In her hands she held a key a key to her future that she couldn't seem to see
And when she tried to open the door
Her hands they dried and cracked and fell down to the floor

Where she slept she would rot
Inside the sheets of all the things she wish she'd done
And when her ceiling looked down upon
Her broken body she wished that she could run

But there was no where else to go
And no one left who knows
The pulse inside her arms was beginning to slow

And she was sought out and strung out
    Her boyfriend was outside now
    A pistol and a breakdown
    and she was stuck now
    And she was stuck before
But now he's at the door
And she's falling and falling and falling to the floor

Where she slept she would rot
Inside the sheets of all the things she wish she'd done
And when her ceiling looked down upon
Her broken body she wished that she could run

She just wanted to be free tried to look but couldn't see a future for herself
She was seen but never heard just a ghost of few words trying to make something of herself

Where she slept she would rot
Inside the sheets of all the things she wish she'd done
And when her ceiling looked down upon
Her broken body she wished that she could run

    (Solo)

Where she slept she would rot
Inside the sheets of all the things she wish she'd done
And when her ceiling looked down upon
Her broken body she wished that she could run

But there was no where else to go
And no one left who knows
The pulse inside her arms had finally slowed

He gave his love a gay gold watch that she might rule in her own country
She gave him a gay gold ring, and the virtue of that ring was above all things

If this ring is bright true know your love is true to you
But if this ring is pale and wan your true love is in love with another one

He set sail and off went he until he came to strange country
He looked at the ring it was pale and wan, his true love was in love with another one

So he set sail and back came he until he came to his own country
And as he was riding along the plain who should he meet but an old beggar man

You lend me your begging rig that begging rig it must go on
So come tell me as fast as you can what's to be done with the begging rig

You may beg from pitt you may beg from paul beg from the highest to the lowest of them all
But from them all you need take none until you come to the bride's own hand

She came trembling down the stairs rings on her fingers and gold in her hair
A glass of wine all in her hand which she gave to the old beggar man

He took the glass and drank the wine and in the glass he slipped the ring
Oh where got you this by sea or by land, or did you get it off of a drowned one's hand

I did not get it by sea or land I did not get it off a drowned one's hand
I got it in my courting gay, and gave it to my love on her wedding day

Rings from her fingers she did pull off gold from her hair she did let fall
I'll go with you forever more and beg for my bread from door to door

Between the kitchen and the hall the begging rig he did let fall
Shining in gold amongst them all and he was the fairest in the hall

  • ROCKY ROAD TO DUBLIN - Belfast Food / Hrvoje Hodak

    3:55

ROCKY ROAD TO DUBLIN (traditional, B.F.)
(album: Zasto Zato / Belfast Food - sung by Hrvoje Hodak)

While in the merry month of May from me home I started,
Left the girls of Tuam so sad and broken hearted,
Saluted father dear, kissed me darling mother,
Drank a pint of beer, me grief and tears to smother,
Then off to reap the corn, leave where I was born,
    Cut a stout black thorn to banish ghosts and goblins;
Bought a pair of brogues rattling o'er the bogs
And fright'ning all the dogs on the rocky road to Dublin.

    One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah !

In Mullingar that night I rested limbs so weary,
Started by daylight next morning blithe and early,
    Took a drop of pure to keep me heartfrom sinking;
Thats a Paddy's cure whenever he's on drinking.
See the lassies smile, laughing all the while
At me curious style, 'twould set your heart a bubblin'
Asked me was I hired, wages I required,
I was almost tired of the rocky road to Dublin.

    One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah !

In Dublin next arrived, I thought it such a pity
To be soon deprived a view of that fine city.
    So then I took a stroll, all among the quality;
Me bundle it was stole, all in a neat locality.
Something crossed me mind, when I looked behind,
No bundle could I find upon me stick a wobblin'
Enquiring for the rogue, they said me Connaught brogue
Wasn't much in vogue on the rocky road to Dublin.

    One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah !

From there I got away, me spirits never falling,
Landed on the quay, just as the ship was sailing.
    The Captain at me roared, said that no room had he;
When I jumped aboard, a cabin found for Paddy.
Down among the pigs, played some hearty rigs,
    Danced some hearty jigs, the water round me bubbling;
When off Holyhead I wished meself was dead,
Or better for instead on the rocky road to Dublin.

    One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah !

Well the boys of Liverpool, when we safely landed,
Called meself a fool, I could no longer stand it.
    Blood began to boil, temper I was losing;
Poor old Erin's Isle they began abusing.
Hurrah me soul says I, me Shillelagh I let fly.
Some Galway boys were nigh and saw I was a hobble in,
With a load hurray ! joined in the affray.
We quitely cleared the way for the rocky road to Dublin.

    One, two, three four, five,
Hunt the Hare and turn her down
the rocky road and all the way to Dublin,
    Whack follol de rah !

    Lyrics below!

I R Hero! Re-recording from my band I R Hero!'s old EP, Stupid Songs For Stupid People. I play bass and sing backing vocals on this track. I also mixed this track on Logic :D. Check us out and comment if you like it.

    Lyrics

    Verse
She's just another hot girl, who thinks she can rule the world
she's the one he's always been chasing,
she's the one who gets his heart racing,
he knows she's got a boyfriend but he's a jerk he's got too many friends
this girl thinks he's so dumb, she's a player she's just making fun

    Pre-Chorus
He sees her standing there in the hallway
what a sad life he must lead, he's so boring
When he talks his bad breath lingers,
he still asks girls to pull his fingers
but at least his blow up dolls still adore him

    Chorus
It's not his fault that he's a weirdo
he cries but no one really sees his tear though
he acts stupid all the time
at night he thinks that he can fight crime
It's not his fault that he's a weirdo
he cries but no one really sees his tear though
one girl says hey, there's zero!
he turns and answers I R HERO!

    Verse
He wakes up and he beside her
the smell of his room is a quick reminder
as he looks at her he begins to feel like
none of this is really really real and
he thinks about how he got here
and he starts to notice just what he feared
that what is happening has no meaning
his clock starts sounding because he's been dreaming

    Pre-Chorus
He sees her standing there in the hallway
what a sad life he must lead, he's so boring
when he talks his bad breath still lingers
still asks girls to pull his fingers
but at least his blow up dolls still adore him

    Chorus
It's not his fault that he's a weirdo
he cries but no one really sees his tear though
he acts stupid all the time
at night he thinks that he can fight crime
It's not his fault that he's a weirdo
he cries but no one really sees his tear though

  • Aileen Stanley & Billy Murray I Cant Get Over a Girl Like You on Victor 20148

    3:23

Aileen Stanley and Billy Murray sing I Can't Get Over a Girl Like You on Victor 20148, recorded on August 20, 1926.

Aileen Stanley visited Victor studios in August, 1925, to make her first Orthophonic discs, the name for Victor's early electric records.

They include Down in Jungle Town and I Want To Go Back To Michigan.

  • GABBY - Thinking bout a girl - original song

    3:31

Thoughts of a girl discovering she might be bisexual while being with her boyfriend. Never woud have happen without an incredible girl she just met

    Lyrics

    You’re telling me
    I’ve changed suddenly
    How can I explain
I’ve been trying to understand myself

    This new friendship
    Has been questioning me
    I think I might
    Have a different sexuality

Cause I’m thinking ‘bout a girl
Her curly hair her tomboy style
    I’m thinking ‘bout a girl
I just can’t get her out of my mind

You might think that I don’t care
    About us anymore
Baby I don’t have an affair
An answer is all I ask for

    I think I just met
    My second soul mate

    She ignores me
While texting me all day long
    She confuses me
I don’t know where my heart belongs

    I wish I could decide
    I wish it was easy
    Why can’t I hide
    My mixed feelings

And I’m thinking ‘bout a girl
Her curly hair her tomboy style
    I’m thinking ‘bout a girl
I just can’t get her out of my mind

You might think that I don’t care
    About us anymore
Baby I don’t have an affair
An answer is all I ask for

    I think I just met
    My second soul mate

    And I tried I tried I tried
    Yeah I tried I tried I tried
    To forget about her
    To reject all of her
    And I tried I tried I tried
    Yeah I tried I tried I tried
    To love you only you
    Choose easily just you

But I’m thinking ‘bout a girl
Her curly hair her tomboy style
    I’m thinking ‘bout a girl
I just can’t get her out of my mind
    I think I just met
    My second soul mate

  • the ultimate love song: To My BFs

    4:37

This is a really personal intimate love song to all of the BFs in my life. it is co-written with Katherine Hoy and Kristimas Kingma. It is in honor of Snezshauna Stadnik, Kim Gia Pham, YaYa Lake, && Amber Thomas

ATTN: vocals & guitar by the talented Katie Hoyyyyy :)

    Lyrics:

    5612 Brooklyn Avenue
The finest house on the street
It's the smallest house, but the most girls
Well at least we're all pretty

This year has gone so very fast
And with you all it's been a blast
Now a few of you must move along
So here is your goodbye song

Let's start with the bravest of the bunch
She threw Gala his first punch
She said, Get out! Get out! This is my house and I like it to be clean
She will graduate with a 4.8
    And an immunity to caffeine
We will miss you dear, but have no fear
When you miss us you can sing
This is the best day of my life.
This is the best day of my life.
    I am Nana

This next one beat us all to the punch
It was a competition and she won
She got a ring by spring
And so we say so long to your virginity
She never even gave us a chance
She just went strait to Vance
    Kim Gia Pham
    Soon to be Roush
    Soon to be Roush
    Soon to be Roush
    Soon to be Roush

Now we say ta-ta to our girl Yaya
    Her nickname from who-knows-where
    She always stayed out late
    Came home around 8am
    And slept the day away
Such a partyer, we will pray for her
Let's pray for her husband too
    Let me make a prediction
    He will be a physician,
With lots and lots of tattoos
    Amen, a man!
    Amen, a man!

The last time I saw this last chick
Was in a missing ad on a carton of milk
If you find this indy 500 we will give you a prize
She's got a heart as big as her kardashian eyes
She mights graduated, she mighta moved
She mighta eloped with some flavorish dude
I forget your voice, were you our friend by choice
Or were you scared we'd put you onnnnnn
    BLAST BLAST BLAST BLAST BLAST

So this year has come to an end
Much more than roommate, we are best friends
Luckily our bond is stronger than blood
Before you forget, Let the memories flood,

  • Postcard From Paris by The Band Perry with Lyrics

    3:37

I messed up on some parts.!
    Sorry about that..!
    But enjoy anyway:)

    Lyrics:
I remember when my heart caught the fever
You were standing all alone in the summer heat
I was with my boyfriend, my new boyfriend
He was as sweet as he could be
one look at you and I was through
My heart switched up on me

Like a postcard from Paris, when I've seen the real thing
It's like finding out your diamond is from her old promise ring
A call back from your fortune teller, she read your cards upside down
The meanest thing you ever did is come around
and now I'm ruined, yeah, I'm ruined

In the evening you can catch me daydreaming
Did that moment send you reeling just like me ?
I should have gone over, right over
I should have never let you leave
But it's the never knowing that keeps
this going and drives me crazy

Like a postcard from Paris, when I've seen the real thing
It's like finding out your diamond is from her old promise ring
A call back from your fortune teller, she read your cards upside down
The meanest thing you ever did is come around

Just when I thought things were alright
My eyes played tricks on my mind
Will I ever be satisfied cause all I ever seem to find, is a

  • That Forever Kind of Love -- A Justin Bieber Love Story

    1:23

By the time I got out of the mall I felt like I bought the whole damn thing. I literally had to have some of the mall employees help me out to the truck. Oh, well. I don't give a damn. Hopefully, by the time I get back to Justin's place no one will be there and I can just pack it all up. As I was getting in the truck I heard a familiar voice say, Damn, did you buy the whole mall? I turned to see none other than Justin himself standing near my truck. I went ahead and started up the truck as I shut the door, What do you want, Justin? I...uh...Did you just call me Justin, he stumbled and then asked in a confused voice. I just shook my head and started backing out of the parking spot and was about to pull away when he said, Wait! He jogged over to the driver's side door with a strange expression on his face. He just stood there for a few seconds before he said, So, it was me the whole time? No. It was another Justin I was crying over and singing to in that arena, I spat back sarcastically. He looked like he was struggling with his thoughts before he finally said, I-I'm sorry. Yeah, I know. Don't worry. I won't say anymore about it. We can just go about our lives like nothing happened, I replied as a tear rolled down my face and drove off. I knew he didn't feel the same way as I did. I should've just kept my damn mouth shut.

    (Justin's POV)
Yeah, I know. Don't worry. I won't say anymore about it. We can just go about our lives like nothing happened, she replied as a tear rolled down her beautiful cheek before she drove away. Why did I have to be an idiot!?!?! I should've stopped her. I should've told her how I feel! Damn it! I'm such a coward! I kicked the crap out of the tire on my mom's car and started cussing at it. I shouldn't be feeling this way about my best friend in the first place! FUUUUUUUUUUUCK, I screamed as loud as I could and punched the car. I had a few people staring at me in the parking lot, so I quickly got into the car and drove off. I don't know where the hell I'm going; I just have to think. I spent an hour driving around LA thinking about Dubs. Why do I love her? She's obviously beautiful. She talented, caring, generous, funny as hell, doesn't act like a rich snob, isn't a spoiled brat, and just everything that I've ever wanted in a girl. She's perfect for me. I think I've known it all along, but just couldn't ever bring myself to say it. I think that's why I've always been so happy with the fact that she hasn't had many boyfriends her whole life. She's only had 2 boyfriends. Some dude that I forgot his name, because it was a long time ago and then this dumbass Derek. I've always hated that guy. I knew he hated me, too, and I was fine with that. Plus, Dubs has always been there for me whenever I needed her. She's always dropped whatever she's doing and came right away no matter what. She did that for me, but I couldn't bring myself to be there for her when her dad was diagnosed with cancer. I'm such a bad best friend and she's the best one anyone could ever have. I don't disserve to have her has a best friend or anything else. I just feel torn about all of this. I'm relieved that she loves me back, but then again I don't want to ruin our years of friendship if it doesn't work out. Well, hell, it's probably already been ruined since all I could say was 'I-I'm sorry', I mean damn. Why the hell did I have to say that?!?!?! That's like basically saying that I don't feel the same way as you do. SHIT! I had to slam on my breaks, because I almost rear-ended the car in front of me. I wasn't paying attention to my driving at all. I looked to see why the car in font of me was parked in the middle of the road. There was an accident. I squinted and saw a green car smashed up into the side of a black truck. A BLACK TRUCK?! OH SHIT NO! I got out of the car and ran towards the scene of the accident; getting close to the truck as I could. All I could see was a mass of long brown hair and an arm hanging out the window. I broke down right there in front of everyone; not caring that they saw me.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LE GASP! What do you think is going to happen next!?!?!?!?! Will Jen be ok?!?!?! Is Justin going to get the balls to tell her now?!?!?!

    Lyrics:

    Two days past eighteen
He was waiting for the bus in his army green
Sat down in a booth in a cafe there
Gave his order to a girl with a bow in her hair
He's a little shy so she gives him a smile
And he said, Would you mind sittin' down for a while
    And talking to me?
    I'm feeling a little low.
She said, I'm off in an hour and I know where we can go.

So they went down and they sat on the pier
He said I bet you got a boyfriend but I don't care
I got no one to send a letter to
Would you mind if I sent one back here to you

  • SERVICE - MK II

    9:22

    John-fuckin-Lizard.

I can’t escape the dude. It’s been, what, a week since I last posted a project that he recorded? Some even speculate that John sometimes PLAYS in these bands, like in, say, I dunno, Acrylics, Fussy, and Rut, but that’s probably a load of shit. These sorts of speculations are coming from the same sort of people who think that Jimmy is Mark Winter or Lumpy, so I’ve conditioned myself to take all your guys supposed “facts” with a grain of salt. Next thing I know, you nitwits are gonna be telling me that the Asswolf is just a guy wearing a mask, or that Cal is actually Lumpy doing a stupid voice. Pft. Get real.

Well, despite my best efforts not to, it looks like I’m going to have to give that little snake some more time in the spotlight. This is Service, a punk group hailing from Santa Rosa, California, in which John Lizard DOESN’T play in; I know this for a fact. He simply recorded the tape here, with the band’s drummer telling me that, for a reptilian, John really “knows what he is doing”. Well, John may know his way around some recording equipment, but he evidently doesn’t know his away around a fuckin’ post office, because the dude still owes me merch. I get real pouty when I don’t get my three-dollar audio cassette tapes, I’m gonna end up taking that shit to my grave. But Sergio on the other hand, who is said drummer in both Service and Rut that contacted me, was a real pleasure to talk to; he said that he’ll be sure to send me some merch at some point instead of “sun bathing on a rock” like Lizard-boy over here. So eat it, Johhny, I’ve found a new man, I don’t need to take your shit anymore. If I knew how to do one of those tongue-sticking-out emojis here in the description, I’d be using one right now. I’ll compromise by using one of these: ;p

I’m teasing, John, I hope you know that. I’m pretty dense, so I can’t tell when I take a joke too far. Take my entire channel, for example.

But back to Service. They’re a five-piece post-punk group up that’re hailing from old-man-wine-county, California. The group’s got the typical punk line-up, featuring a vocalist, guitarist, bassist, and drummer, but also chooses to make use out of a synthesizer to deliver excess warbling tones. You might have trouble picking up on it from the get-go, but once you hit the first chorus segment of the opening track “Commodity”, you should be able to pick up on the slight technical tinges that Service brings to the table, and realize how the added tonality brings this group up to a whole different level of great. It’s partly what makes them such a unique band that’s well-worth multiple back-to-back listens, thought the majority of their distinguishing features stem from the actual utterances of their sounds; as the band chooses to describe it, it’s “in-your-face post-punk”. It shares a similar brand of intensity as straight-forward punk, albeit emanating through desperation instead of sheer aggression. It leads to conflicting impulses that arise when listening to their music, not knowing whether or not its appropriate to completely lose yourself in the confrontational nature found within the abrasive drum work and ragged vocals, or mellow out to the droning chords and synth tones delivered by the guitarist and synthesizer respectively. Even the basslines themselves are dynamic and a total thrill to listen to, acutely fleshing out its accompanying rhythms to its fullest.

It’s a little difficult to describe Service as a single entity. I feel that simply labeling the group as a “post-punk” band deprives them of a lot of what makes their sounds so satisfying and unique due to the connotation that the sub-genre brings forth. It’s not just broody and despondent, but heavily drenched in animosity and discontent in both their own lives and yours; like Sergio told me, it’s in-your-face. It’s a complete and total grey area that’s located somewhere between hardcore and post-punk-like derivatives, with the latter being influence accentuated by the usage of a synthesizer. It's chilling, anxious, and downright invigorating. I love it. Service may not sound like much at first, but I assure you, they're absolutely phenomenal and deserve all sorts of praise. If you're interested in picking up this newly-released cassette, you can nab one during their west-coast tour with the Acrylics, which kicks off on the 14th. Here's the event page:
Check these boys n' girl out if you can, they're an amazing band with unparalleled sounds that you won't want to miss.

Side note, but I think the cover is supposed to be a lighter shade, but I fucked up the render. God. I’m such a shit.

And for the record, my self-loathing is all genuine. Jimmy may pretend to be a lot of things, but he’s definitely a self-deprecating shitbird. Fuck Jimmy and fuck me.

    Lyrics by: Steph
    Arranged by: Mario & Steph

    Nobody's Darlin'
    Never had no mother
    Never had no father
    She's nobody's darlin'
    She's nobody's daughter

Never had no shoes to shine
Never had no one to pine
She's heading down that sweet decline
Her true love for to find

    Chorus:
On the blackened soles like the coal of a midnight freighter
Keeping time with the gold of a sinking sun
    Turned silver, before she faded
Slipped away, 'fore the day begun

Child of the hills bears no name
They all call her Eva Jane
When she comes down to play her songs
They all dance and sing along

    CHORUS

Strike 'em hot like a pick to the coal
    Feel her body growing old
    Appalachian Flamenco Queen
Make them spoons sparkle and sing

    CHORUS

Child of the hills in a country dress
Come to town in her Sunday's best
Gonna make them spoons sing the song
Of the girl that don't belong

    CHORUS

    Never had no mother
    Never had no father
    She's nobody's darlin'
    She's nobody's daughter
