Testing NEW ValhallaDelay with synth in VCV Rack

    10:43

This is amazing delay and I think that's all I should say. There are so many characters, saturation, diffusion (reverb), pitch shifter, frequency shifter, reversed pitched delay, BBD, tape...oh, really . But they are all sound great!
Just look how it processed Mutable Plaits with minimalistic sequence from bidoo dTroy.

El patch es bastante simple: Una ráfaga corta de ruido blanco va hacia cuatro filtros paralelos en modo de bandpass y de ahí a los efectos (distorción, un filtro LP, reverb y delay).

    TrigSeq Test

    9:01

Here I run the AutomaticWiggler patch to test the pattern select voltage range of the TrigSeq sequence. Being able to select patterns via a CV voltage would be pretty tasty. This is the raw test footage that I used to create the protocol video comming later. I figured some of you curious types might want to verify the test I used to get the data I then use later. You can see its pretty straight forward you just wait for the pattern to tick over to a new value pause the video and check the voltage reading on debug. You then do that 64 times. And you can be fairly certain as long as you pic a value between the limits tested you are going to hit that pattern voltage range.

    VCV Rack Explorations 004

    10:12

No Talking. Running through a patch I'm working on.

Keyframer/Mixer is controlling 4 synth VCAs levels on the main mscHack mixer in the top left of the patch.

Each synth is receiving a sequence from Entropia that has been attenuated and quantized to scale.

The Quantum/quantizers each get a transpose message from the Sequential Switch 2 ( thank you Omri Cohen).

Drums are played by hand on the 2 Big Button Seqs with a fast clock. I have an A/B switch setup on the Flows for different kick or snare patterns.

The Flow also control drum mutes and Keyframe modulation mutes.

Floats for VCV Rack - Make Noise Maths Emulation

    13:01

Here it is - one of the best envelope generator for VCV Rack! Top notch emulation of famous Make Noise Maths hardware will improve your patches like a shot. In this video I'm doing some comparison it with Befaco Rampage and showing my favorite using of this module.
From the Floats page: Floats is a module that can become anything with creative patching, but its three main uses are as an envelope, LFO, and audio rate oscillator. As an audio rate oscillator, Floats is antialiased through the whole audio range resulting in a stable and warm timbre. As an LFO, Floats can reach times as low as 8.5 hours per cycle! Floats can also be used as a mixer, logic comparator, clock source, envelope follower, low pass gate, complex oscillator, and gate delay.

VCV Rack & Neutron - Macro

    10:44

What is a better way of celebrating the release of a new module of the Geodesics collection, than to compose something with it... So I used Entropia to control Monark from NI (via VCV Host), and I've added also Plaits to the mix (and a few other modules...). I also programmed a sequence on the BeatStep Pro, controlling the Neutron, but also outputting its second sequence, which is on random, to modulate a few parameters of the Neutron. With the Midilar I control a few parameters in VCV Rack like the filter's cutoff point of Monark, the level of the various modules, and so on. One thing is for sure, I need a bigger table...

    VCV Rack & Neutron & O Coast - Largo

    8:36

So this time, I sat first at the piano and wrote a short chord progression. I then programmed it in VCV Rack with using Foundry from Impromptu, and started adding voices and textures. I've used 4 Cosmic Oscillators as you can see on the screen, but each one of them has actually two oscillators, so, all in all, there are 8 different voices for the chords. On the BeatStep Pro, I programmed 2 sequences. One is sequencing the Neutron, and the other one is sequencing another voice in VCV Rack. The KeyStep is sequencing the O Coast, and I also transpose this sequence when needed.
The O Coast is sending its random voltage to a few destinations through a splitter, and one of them is the cutoff point of the Neutrons' filter. With the Midilar controller, I control a few parameters in VCV Rack like distortion, cutoff point, and levels.

Improv session / live jam used custom sound of VL-1 with VCV Rack.

    Info:
The VL-1 was the first instrument of Casio's VL-Tone product line, and is sometimes referred to as the VL-Tone. It combined a calculator, a monophonic synthesizer, and sequencer. Released in June 1979, it was the first commercial digital synthesizer.

It has 29 calculator-button keys (G to B), a three-position octave switch, one programmable and five preset sounds, ten built-in rhythm patterns, an eight-character LCD, a 100-note sequencer, and a multi-function calculator mode. The VL-1 is notable for its kitsch value among electronic musicians due to its cheap construction and its unrealistic, uniquely low-fidelity sounds.

Its sounds were mostly composed of filtered squarewaves with varied pulse-widths. Its piano, violin, flute and guitar timbres were nearly unrecognizable abstractions of real instruments. It also featured a fantasy voice, and a programmable synthesizer which provided for choice of both oscillator waveform and ADSR envelope. It had a range of two and a half octaves. (Wikipedia)

VCV Rack now lets you run an entire simulated Eurorack on your computer – or interface with hardware modular. And you can get started without spending a cent, with add-on modules available by the day for free or inexpensively. Ted Pallas has been working with VCV since the beginning, and gives us a complete hands-on guide.

There’s always a reason people fall in love with modular music set-ups. For some, it’s having a consistent, tactile interface. For others, it’s about the way open-ended architectures let the user, rather than a manufacturer, determine the system’s limits. For me, the main attraction to modulars is access to tools that can run free from a rigid musical timeline, but still play a sequence. It means they let me dial in interesting poly-rhythmic parts without stress. (CDM)

    Sinisterer - VCV Rack patch

    3:38

Here's a patch that came into my head this morning featuring ADSR saws and reso with a hesitant sinister beat. Two Seq-3's run same sequence but one at ¼ speed and the other at 2x speed.

Demo of a new flavour of Triad Sequencer with independently clocked channels. Also added a sync clock input to the Ping Pong delay.

    Aepelgate - VCV Rack

    4:27

VCV rack - open source virtual modular synthesis patch. This one's got three fm-ops providing the chord sequence through stereo delay via BogAudio Mute8, its got an unused LFO I forgot about, its got Alan Turing feeding a Quantum into Even VCO triangle wave into an ADSR and slew unit, its got a Bernoulli gate triggering macro oscillator through the marvellous Lindenberg Alma filter for a wobbly didgeridoo bass sound, it’s got Squinky saws into constants modulated by AS Tri-lfo, its got autodafe drum section, loads of delays and of course Plateau. But most off it all, it;’s got the 16-step gate sequencer from Aepelzens, and now its also got you.

I use a S&H to stabilize the pitch of a longer sequence to create multiple voices.
