Tanita Tikaram -- Twist In My Sobriety :: Lyrics :: All God's children need travelling shoes
    Drive your problems from here
All good people read good books
    Now your conscience is clear

In the morning when I wipe my brow
    Wipe the miles away
I like to think I can be so willed
And never do what you say

Look my eyes are just holograms
Look your love has drawn red from my hands
From my hands you know you'll never be
More than twist in my sobriety

We just poked a little pie
For the fun that people have at night
Late at night don't need hostility
The timid smile and pause to free

I don't care about their different thoughts
Different thoughts are good for me
Up in arms and chaste and whole
All God's children took their toll

Cup of tea take time to think yeah
Time to risk a life a life a life
Sweet and handsome soft and porky
You pig out 'til you've seen the light
Pig out 'til you've seen the light

Half the people read the papers
    Read them good and well
    Pretty people nervous people
    People have got to sell
News you have to sell ....

Twist in my sobriety -Tanita Tikaram-

    4:49

Tanita Tikaram - I might be crying

    3:51

I might be crying - a beautiful song by a beautiful woman. Tanita Tikaram

What I didn't know back then
Was that I might be crying
    It's such a simple sentiment
    To steal the show

And what I didn't know back then
Is that I might be losing you
    I might be losing you
    Still I wouldn't know

And now I suck up to the pale moonlight
Like it's gonna lead me home
And I shiver in my tired clothes
As if that could keep me warm

And now I stare across the dirty river
And I breathe this dirty air
And I'm sure upon the bridge I'll see you
'Cos I dreamt I'd kiss you there

What I didn't know back then
    Is how great the sin
    How time goes so slowly
When you're cheating on a friend

And what I didn't know back then
Is that I might be needing you
Yeah, I might be needing you
    The need, it doesn't end

And now I stare across the dirty river
And I breathe this dirty air
And I'm sure upon the bridge I'll see you
'Cos I dreamt I'd kiss you there

What I didn't know back then
Was that I might be crying
    It's such a simple sentiment
    To steal the show

Tanita Tikaram - And I think of you

    4:28

    Night is falling
    I think of you
    I'm walking home
    I think of you
And as he calls me, yes I do
    I think of you
    How you doing?
    I think of you
    And I smile, I can't hide
    I think of you

I don't know where your days are spent
    Your lovers and you friends
    But I know for sure
Of who you have been thinking

    Far beyond the city's lights
Are two who dream a life
Forgive them if they never find their freedom
    Their freedom

    It's so late
    I think of you
    He walks me home
    I think of you
I'm so sorry, I'm so tired
    I think of you
    And in the shadows
    I think of you
    I close my eyes
    I think of you
    Now I'm falling
    I think of you

    I think of you
As he calls my name, yes I do
    I think of you
    I think of you
    I think of you

Tanita Tikaram - Bloodlines (Lovers in the City)

This song is from Tanita Tikaram's fifth studio album Lovers In The City (1995). The whole album was produced by Thomas Newman and Tikaram herself.

This is an unofficial tribute video made by me. Although this song has never been released as a single, I think it's still a beautiful and haunting piece from that phenomenal album, which deserves its own music video.

    Lyrics:

    You can't call hell
    A quiet town
    But you walked so shell-shocked
Have you found a way to stand?
    Your head is high
You have, oh, such curious hands

    Did they mention?
    Special faces
    And your young mind
    And foreign places

    And I wonder
    Where you come from
I know they have no answers
    But their bloodlines

    Can you call?
    This land a friend
    You looked so hopeful
Have you found a way to send this soul
To, oh, such a curious end

    For this sadness
    Am I made strong?
    For my sadness
    Must be shared by someone

    Ande I wonder
    Where you come from
I know I have no answers
    But my bloodlines

To know that I am not the only one
To know that my love is for everyone
To hold it in my heart
To hold it in my heart
To hold it in my heart

    And I wonder
    Where you come from
I know I have no answers
    But my bloodlines

Tanita Tikaram He Likes The Sun Live 1989

    5:31

Ancient Heart is the debut studio album by Tanita Tikaram. The record was initially released by Warner Music Group on 13 September 1988. The album had huge success and was a hit globally, launching Tanita's mainstream career. Guest musicians included Rod Argent, Mark Isham, Peter Van Hooke, Paul Brady, and Brendan Croker. Argent and Van Hooke produced the album. The record includes four singles. Tanita Tikaram (born 12 August 1969) is a British pop/folk singer-songwriter. She achieved chart success with the singles Twist in My Sobriety and Good Tradition from her 1988 debut album, Ancient Heart. She is known for her powerful, husky voice, and poetic and somewhat obscure lyrics. Tikaram was born in Münster, Germany, the daughter of an Indo-Fijian father, Pramod Tikaram, and a Sarawakian mother, Fatimah Rohani. Her father's military career meant that she spent her early life in Germany before moving to Basingstoke, Hampshire, England when she was in her early teens. Tikaram started singing in nightclubs while she was still a teenager and came to the attention of WEA Records. Her debut album, Ancient Heart, produced by Rod Argent and Peter Van Hooke, was released in September 1988 when she was 19 years old. The album's first two singles, Good Tradition and Twist In My Sobriety, became top 10 hits around Europe and the album sold around 4 million copies worldwide. Wikipedia
