Strymon Sunset - Dual Overdrive - In-Depth Demo

    18:13

Strymon sound designer and DSP engineer Pete Celi takes you on a tour of the sounds and features of Sunset Dual Overdrive. Signal path: Suhr Classic Antique Guitar » Sunset Dual Overdrive » Fender Super Reverb » Royer R-121 microphone

    Learn more about Sunset:

    ==========================

    Classic overdrive sound, x2.

Sunset gives you the best of the best classic overdrive circuits, custom voiced for instantly gratifying control over a huge range of sought-after tones. We studied six circuit types found in many truly timeless and iconic overdrive and boost pedals, and put our takes on all six of them into a single two-channel unit.

    Two pedals at once.

Sunset is really two customizable overdrive pedals, independently selectable and flexibly routable, designed and voiced for complementary tones when stacked. Six distinct circuits each feel and react differently in your hands, two at once, all in one convenient package. Push your amp any way you want, from transparent “more amp” to heavy saturated fuzz, and all the best places in between.

Holy Grail tone, minus the quest.

We are all familiar with the endless search for the ultimate overdrive pedal and the perfect tone. We did the critical listening and custom voicing to design each side of Sunset with just one tone knob, so you can quickly dial in the sound you want. The knob ranges for each circuit type are custom calibrated to provide maximal usable control. We applied the same design philosophy and care to the stacking options, ensuring each combination interacts optimally and sounds great, so a huge range of classic overdrive tones are instantly achievable.

    Optimized Stacking.

Since the time when overdrives were created to simply push an amp in order to achieve an overdriven sound even at sane volume levels, players have evolved to want more layered, multistage tonalities. Stacking gives you more flexibility and tone range on the floor. You can find an overdrive that sounds good on its own, then run it through a second drive to add new dimensions to your tone. Sunset allows you to use any of its six overdrive circuits on their own, or route the Channel A drive circuit through Channel B, or Channel B through Channel A, or use two circuits in parallel. Routing options have been chosen deliberately to present the best-sounding combinations of drive circuits. Sunset eliminates the guesswork.

Digital or analog? We chose both.

Sunset’s input features an ultra low noise, discrete, class-A JFET circuit providing up to 20dB of pure analog gain. With our hybrid approach you get the best of both analog and digital worlds: The JFET stage provides exceptional touch sensitivity and dynamic interaction with your guitar, while the incredibly powerful SHARC DSP facilitates the great level of detailed complexity and responsiveness you’ll want to hear.

Strymon Mobius Modulation - Linda Taylor - guitar demo

    7:26

We had the pleasure of hanging out with guitarist and composer Linda Taylor from the hit television show Whose Line is it Anyway. Much like the panel of improvisors on the show who improvise characters and scenes on the spot, Linda is responsible for conjuring up a huge array of songs and musical numbers at a moments notice. In this video, Linda lets her creativity flow, laying down a wide variety of musical examples using Mobius.

    Learn more about Mobius:

All guitar playing in the video was recorded through a single Royer R-121 ribbon microphone in front of Linda’s own Fender '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb.

Mobius provides twelve studio-class, fully tweakable modulation machines: Chorus, Flanger, Rotary, Vibe, Phaser, Filter, Formant, Vintage Trem, Pattern Trem, Autoswell, Destroyer, and Quadrature.

In this video, we hear an Old Blood Noise Endeavors Haunt Fuzz pedal placed in TimeLine's feedback loop. TimeLine's delay repeats are processed by the fuzz pedal, leaving the dry guitar signal untouched by the fuzz effect. In the first example, TimeLine's filter delay machine applies a filter sweep to the delay repeats which have been made especially harmonically rich by the fuzz pedal. In the second example, TimeLine's Ice delay machine creates a faster musical pattern an octave above the dry signal, and the fuzz pedal saturates the re-pitched delay repeats.

    ==================================================

TimeLine is a studio-class stereo delay effects pedal that gives you twelve unique delay machines, each with extensive control over sonic character and feel. Go from crisp and clear, studio-quality digital delays all the way to the saturated and fluctuating sounds of tape delay machines. Get warm and fuzzy analog style repeats all the way to shimmery, sparkling, and crystalline ice delays.

Tweak to your hearts content and save up to 200 presets of your favorite sounds. Top it all off with full MIDI implementation and a routable, 30-second stereo looper and you’re on your way to delay bliss.

Strymon Riverside - Multistage Drive - In-Depth Demo

    16:32

Strymon sound designer and DSP engineer Pete Celi takes you on an in-depth tour of Riverside's sounds and features. Pete talks about the JFET and DSP gain stages, the circuit tuning going on behind the scenes, and goes over the sonic capabilities in detail. Signal path: Guitar » Riverside » Amp » Shure SM57 microphone

    Learn more about Riverside:

    ==========================

    A new world of drive.

Riverside is the culmination of a thorough analysis of numerous analog and vacuum tube circuits. Our goal? To deliver a new world of harmonically rich, incredibly versatile, tube-inspired drive sounds. We didn't want to build just another distortion or overdrive. We knew we must examine what has been done, and bring a new approach to the world of drive sounds.

    Discover your amp's potential.

Riverside's cascading gain stages create harmonically rich tones that are immensely musical and natural—from silky clean overdrive to colossal distortion, and all points between. Our analog JFET front-end ensures that Riverside responds to your guitar with uncompromised dynamics and feel. The precision crafted DSP generates dynamic complexity and pleasing harmonics at every stage, letting your amp shine at any gain level. Riverside takes your amp to places you never knew it could go.

    Infinite sweet spot.

Riverside's continuously variable circuit tuning dynamically tweaks multiple parameters under the hood so that the sweet spot follows you at any gain setting. As you turn the Drive knob, Riverside makes continuous adjustments, tuning the circuit for optimum tone. This results in an incredibly versatile drive pedal that is equally capable of providing sparking cleans, mild overdrives, high-gain leads, and heavy saturated distortions.

Flexibility to adapt to any amp.

Your amp choice has a large influence on the sound of any drive pedal connected to it. Riverside's musical 3-band EQ, with independent Bass, Middle and Treble knobs, is designed to complement your amp's tone with the flexibility needed to dial in your sound effectively and efficiently. The three-position Presence switch tailors the highest frequencies, allowing Riverside to integrate perfectly with any amp or setup, no matter how dark or bright.

Digital or analog? We chose both.

The first stage of Riverside’s custom multistage drive topology is an all-analog, ultra low noise, discrete, class-A JFET circuit. This gain stage is digitally controlled to maximize headroom while adding as much as 20dB of pure analog gain, with tight integration to the subsequent DSP gain stages. With our hybrid approach you get the best of both analog and digital worlds: The JFET stage provides exceptional touch sensitivity and dynamic interaction with your guitar, while the incredibly powerful SHARC DSP facilitates the great level of detailed complexity and responsiveness you'll want to hear.

    Strymon El Capistan dTape Echo

    6:47

    Buy Now:

Welcome back to Proguitarshop.com, today we're going over the El Capistan dTape Echo from Strymon. This compact pedal is packed with 3 virtual tape echoes that shaped the music from the 50's onward and thanks to Strymon's dedication and technical know-how using dTape algorothms, they've faithfully recreated the sound, saturation and nuances of these beloved machines.
Start with the tape head switch to select how the tape machine operates, either with a sliding tape head and fixed motor speed like the Echoplex or with a variable motor and multi-head setup like the Space Echo. Each types contains their own inherent characteristics and can go from a freshly calibrated studio echo to a grungy repeat full of natural sounding saturation, tape crinkles and bandwidth reduction. All these factors can be controlled by the knobs you see on the outside like Wow and Flutter and Tape Age along with secondary functions accessed by holding both footswitches (low contour, bias, tape crinkle and boost/cut). As a bonus, Strymon includes an accurate spring reverb that can be mixed into any mode. Modern features include stereo operation, tap tempo, a favorite preset switch or expression pedal control for any knob parameter. The El Capistan also gives you true bypass or trails, high quality A/D D/A audio converters and analog dry signal to maintain your guitar's natural tone.

Strymon BigSky - Reverb Effects Pedal

    2:49

Strymon BigSky is the only effect used in the making of this video. Visit — Music by State Shirt [ and Pete Celi.

Plug into BigSky and instantly lift your sound into the stratosphere. The world below you fades into the distance, and you're elevated into a glow of lush, glorious, radiant reverbs. To create a reverb experience as natural, beautiful, and immersive as BigSky required tremendous feats of sound engineering and artistic imagination. Using the fundamentals of acoustical science as our beacon, we carefully studied and scientifically analyzed reverb technology from the past fifty years. We faithfully captured the essence of these classic sounds, and forged ahead to dream up our vision of reverbs from the future.

Feel the mechanical tension of the Spring reverbs. Hear the floating particles of the Cloud machine. Defy the laws of physics with the Nonlinear reverbs. Unleash the multi-head reverberations of the Magneto machine. BigSky gives you twelve studio-class reverb machines, each with simple yet powerful controls.

We knew we must take reverb to a whole new level. With careful attention to detail, innovative analog circuitry design, an insanely powerful SHARC processor, and the utilization of top-shelf components, we've developed a reverb pedal that fits on your pedal board yet has better audio quality than many rack reverb units. This fusion of science with art has just one goal. To provide you with the most musically inspirational reverb experiences possible.

I WAS WRONG - Strymon Timeline & Strymon El Capistan - Tape Delay Comparison

    10:16

►► Free Mini-Course on Ambient Guitar Chord Structures: 🎁

We all make mistakes, and I did on my last demo.

I didn't take the time to properly study the Strymon Timeline on tape mode and it resulted in a flawed, biased comparison between the two.

In full honesty and transparency, I re-made the demo with now all the right info and settings.

Turns out that the Timeline can get much closer to the El Capistan than I thought!

Strymon Deco Tape Saturation & Doubletracker

    7:02

    Buy Now:

The Strymon Deco brings the warm, saturated tones and distinctive effects that were formerly only available on vintage analog tape machines and puts these rich tones in compact pedal form. One side of the Deco is dedicated to tape saturation, imbuing your guitar sound with the smooth, fat tone and gently compressed quality of overdriven analog tape, while the other, Doubletracker side of the pedal functions like a second virtual tape deck, used to generate classic tape effects like tape flange, chorus, slapback, and up to 500 milliseconds of echo. Its Lag Time knob controls the delay offset between the two tape decks, while a blend knob controls relative levels between them. The 3-way Type switch alters the phase relationship between these two machines for numerous subtle shades of analog tape tone. To simulate the sound of random speed modulation on the Deco's second deck, there's the Wobble control, which can take you from subtle flanging all the way to more extreme, but highly musical, tape modulation effects. As with many of Strymon's feature-packed pedals, the Deco boasts a wide range of hidden functions, including high and low trim tone controls, a boost/cut function, and a wide stereo mode. It also has stereo in and out capabilities, and a jack that can function as an expression input, remote external tap, or favorite switch, for saving a favorite preset. As with all of Strymon's premium effects, the Deco was designed and built in the USA.

Strymon Flint - Tremolo & Reverb demo

For more information about Flint please visit:

Be sure to check out the other Flint videos for audio examples and knob settings. Signal path: Flint » stereo into two Damage Control tube preamps » PC audio interface. Please view in HD for highest quality audio. :)

    =====================================

The magical combination of tremolo and reverb is the earliest example of a perfect guitar effects marriage. First pioneered within historic amplifiers of the 1960s, this harmonious coexistence has made it's way onto countless records and performances—from early surf, swampy bayou blues, spaghetti westerns, film noir soundtracks, to modern day indie rock.

Flint gives you the sonically complex '61 Harmonic Tremolo, the swampy and sultry '63 Power Tube Tremolo, and the sharp and balanced '65 Photocell Tremolo. You also get the classic '60s Spring Tank Reverb, the inventive '70s Electronic Plate Reverb, and the nostalgic '80s Hall Rack Reverb. Go from splashy, pulsing twang, to throbbing, swampy blues, all the way to ambient, trembling, and serene reverberated pads.

Strymon Flint - Tremolo & Reverb

    6:57

    Buy Now:

The Strymon Flint is a powerful pedal that containing two effects that have remained a match made in heaven since the beginning, reverb and tremolo.
Each side contains 3 unique modes which provide a wide range of moody spaces either in mono or stereo. The '60s reverb is based on a splashing 2 spring tank, while the '70s captures the organic decay of an Electronic Plate reverb. For deep, lush environments the '80s Rackmount Hall reverb is available with a range that goes to near infinity.
The Tremolo side starts off by offering '61 Harmonic Tremolo, a dual band filtering effect that shares some similarities with phase and vibe. Choose the '63 Power Tube tremolo for a swampy effect that came from alternating the power tube bias of the amplifier. Lastly, those classic chop and stutter effects are achieved by Flint's Photocell tremolo from the famous '65 era amps.
Along with the visible controls, each knob has a secondary function that is accessed by simply holding both footswitches. You can boost or cut each effects level, switch the order and setup up the tap tempo subdivision when using an external tap switch. Along with the tap switch the Exp input can give you expression pedal control over any parameter you see or it can instantly take you to your favorite setting with Strymon's favorite switch.

Why the Strymon Timeline Looper is so cool!

    8:31

►► Free Mini-Course on Ambient Guitar Chord Structures: 🎁

I am trying the Strymon Timeline Looper for the first time since a few years. I am blown away by all the possibilities that even my Boomerang looper doesn't offer.

In this video, I'm going to be using the pre/post delay looper function and the stop/play exit mode on the looper.

That way we can shape the sound of our loop, replicate the kind of deterioration of the El Capistan, tweak new delay types while the looper is still going and more.

Huge potential for ambient song creation just with one pedal!

    Thanks for watching!

    Strymon volante vs Avalon Bassline

    5:39

If you like my stuff please support me on and

    #tb303 #strymon #refaceCP

This is not a demo or a showcase of the Strymon volante in any way, this is just me noodling around after a long hiatus trying to get back on track due to severe creative block. I have had zero inspiration lately.. so I needed to dial things back and work with a minimal setup to break the ice.

The 303 square bass is a very simple 8 step sequence, I wanted to make it feel bigger and more complex. So I used the tape heads in the volante to add/build up the track in a subtle way.

Half way through the track, I turn on a pre recorded loop (reface CP in reverse) on the 720 when I do the melody style editing on the Avalon.

    Gear used:

    * 303 square bass, Avalon bassline, through the Strymon volante (magnetic drum)
    * Yamaha Reface CP, Rhodes piano, Rd1, 720 looper, Strymon blue sky (modulated room)
-- FX in reface CP, slight tremolo and a long analogue delay

All is mixed on a behringer 1002B, recorded straight into the Zoom H5.
-- Post processing, compressor and limiter to balance things out a bit.

I hope you will enjoy this one.
