    Available from October 21st (22nd in US/CA)

In February 2013 Steven Wilson released 'The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)', his third solo album. The album was a huge critical and commercial success, earning numerous 5 star reviews and charting well across the world, debuting at #3 in the German national chart, #28 in the UK top 40, #57 in the US Billboard top 200, #16 in Holland and #17 in Finland.

Prior to these dates, Drive Home, a new audio-visual package will be released as a Blu-ray & CD set and as a CD & DVD set.

The Blu-ray and DVD feature the new video for lead track 'Drive Home' along with the video for 'The Raven That Refused To Sing', both directed by Jess Cope. They also include four tracks recorded live in Frankfurt during the recent tour.

In addition, the Blu-ray and DVD feature audio recordings of two previously unreleased tracks, 'The Birthday Party' and an orchestral version of 'The Raven That Refused To Sing'. 'The Birthday Party' was recorded in LA at the same sessions as the tracks that made up the album while the version of 'The Raven That Refused To Sing' is a new mix that strips the track back to just the orchestra and vocals.

All the songs on the Blu-Ray and DVD are mixed in both stereo and 5.1 sound, including the two audio only titles. The audio on the Blu-Ray is full lossless 96/24 throughout. These tracks are also included on the CD, along with the audio from the live tracks and an edit of 'Drive Home'.

    HOME INVASION, OUT NOW! -

Steven Wilson, described by The Telegraph as ‘the most successful British musician most people have never heard of’ embarked on his hugely ambitious sold-out To The Bone world tour in 2018. Founder and frontman of adored outsider rock band Porcupine Tree; one half of Blackfield; a Grammy nominated back catalogue remixer for acts like Roxy Music, King Crimson and Tears for Fears, as well as a solo artist hugely respected for a series of visionary LPs, from 2008’s Insurgentes, to his bestselling album To The Bone. Home Invasion celebrates the very best from across his career so far, presented as a cinematic multi-media show with glorious visualisations and outstanding musicianship. This stunning concert film was captured on the final night of his three night sold out residency at the Royal Albert Hall, London in March 2018, concerts which were hailed by media and fans alike as among the very best shows of the year.

Steven Wilson: “I'm very proud of the video for Permanating. As soon as I wrote this song I had it in mind that Bollywood dancing would be the perfect accompaniment, such a joyous form of dance for what is probably the most joyous pop song I have ever come up with. I hope it will put a smile on your face as it does for me.”

  • Steven Wilson - Routine

    10:05

NEW ALBUM 'TO THE BONE' OUT NOW -

Amongst the hundreds of songs I have written over the years, 'Routine' has a very special place. It's a deeply sad story of loss and denial, but at its conclusion the clouds lift and there is acceptance at least. Having worked with her on 3 previous videos, I knew as soon as I wrote it that it was perfect for Jess to do something amazing with. Even then nothing prepared me for the organic beauty and power of the film she made, a painstaking labour of love that took her months to produce. When we play the song live I look out into the audience and see people swept away with emotion at the combination of music and animation. To find poetry and beauty in sadness is a wonderful thing I think - Steven Wilson

Lasse and the actors shot the video in sub-zero temperatures in Denmark in January 2018, so it sounds like it's a lot more fun to watch that it was to make. Enjoy!

'Luminol' taken from the 'Get All You Deserve' Blu-Ray & DVD by Steven Wilson out now on Kscope. Get All You Deserve, is a high-definition 4 disc (Blu-Ray, DVD, 2cCD) audio-visual set from Steven Wilson.

Filmed in Mexico City and directed by long-time visual collaborator Lasse Hoile during the Grace For Drowning Tour, the set is a superb representation of the spectacular live experience that Wilson and Hoile created for the tour.

Grace For Drowning was the second album released under Wilson's own name, following 2009's exceptionally well-received Insurgentes. The album, released in September 2011, entered the UK top 40 album chart at #34, both the Dutch and German national charts at #22, the US Billboard Rock album chart at #19 (#13 in independent chart) and debuted at #7 in the Polish national charts.

Following the release of Grace For Drowning, Steven embarked on his first ever solo tour, assembling a virtuoso band, featuring Marco Minnemann (drums), Nick Beggs (bass), Theo Travis (flute and sax), Adam Holzman (keys) and Niko Tsonev (guitars), to accompany him. For the shows he worked extensively with Lasse to create a show unlike anything else he had attempted with his other bands, Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, No-Man or Bass Communion.

The shows submerged fans in a rich sensory experience: rear speakers provide surround-sound effects, giant screens show off Lasse's films made specifically to accompany these songs, and cutting-edge lighting designs giving texture to each song.

Get All You Deserve captures one of the key shows from the tour. Recorded at a sold-out Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City, the gig features tracks from both Wilson's solo albums along with the new, as yet unreleased, track Luminol.

    Tracklist:
    1. Intro ('Citadel')
    2. No Twilight Within the Courts of the Sun
    3. Index

'Grace For Drowning' is the second album released under Wilson's own name, and builds on the artistic inroads he forged with 2009's exceptionally well-received 'Insurgentes.'

Press for Grace for Drowning is unanimously positive:
'An album that can't really be described but it urgently calls to be heard'
    Classic Rock

'Wilson's ability to create music so prodigiously and to such consistent standards remains a mystery. With his second solo album, the Porcupine Tree leader has done it again.'
    Metal Hammer

'an immersive, ambitious project that demands repeated spins'
    Mojo (4 stars)

'A dense yet extremely coherent album Grace For Drowning succeeds brilliantly... Prog album of the year'

  • Steven Wilson - Refuge

    6:43

NEW ALBUM 'TO THE BONE' OUT NOW -

    Lyric video by Lasse Hoile.

Inspired by the plight of Syrian refugees, “Refuge” builds from the hushed beauty and pathos of the song section to an instrumental apex in which Paul Stacey’s guitar, Mark Feltham’s harmonica and Steven Wilson’s synth solo unite in epic glory, before dropping back down to a haunting aftermath. Refuge is a powerfully intense and cinematic highlight from the forthcoming album To the Bone.

    6:21

    Song of Unborn
    Directed by Jess Cope

I took Carl Sagan”s quote, We are all made of star stuff” and based the film around that idea for Song of Unborn. Using abstract imagery and different styles of animation, the video represents the human form developing from the inside of its body instead of inside the womb. This is the first film that I have made with next to no narrative. I focused more on using the evolution of animation as a way to represent the evolving foetus in utero. The combination of space, sky, sea and fish just seemed to be the direction I wanted to take it. The paper cut out fish at the start represent sperm, the string rays are red blood cells through veins and the jellyfish are nerves. The whales represent the transition from gill-bearing aquatic fish that can only survive underwater to air breathing mammals that give birth to live young. It depicts the transition from a baby inside the mother's womb to the birth and its first breath.

I enjoyed exploring new animation techniques and I am pretty pleased with the way this video turned out, but after experiencing the process of working with CGI I would undoubtedly stick to traditional, old school, hand made, in camera effects. My favourite scene is the space scene. I created it on a multiplane and poked millions of tiny holes in a piece of black wrap that sat at the back of the set. The space dust was created with talcum power on different layers of glass and the planet/egg was made out of a gel ball that florists use. The fish were made out of card and painted with metallic paint to catch the natural light. By using a real camera zoom it gave the magical illusion of depth and space. - Jess Cope

    12:12

Otra obra maestra del genial Steven Wilson,líder de Porcupine Tree, aclamado productor y también parte principal de proyectos como Storm Corrosion, No-Man y Blackfield. Esta vez hablamos de su tercer álbum en solitario 'The Raven That Refuses to Sing (and other stories)'...

    Banda :
    - Guthrie Govan / lead guitar
    - Nick Beggs / bass guitar
    - Marco Minnemann / drums
    - Adam Holzman / keyboards
    - Theo Travis / saxophone, flute
    - Steven Wilson / vocals, guitars, keyboards.

    Article & photos:

We did a pre-soundcheck hang with singer/songwriter/producer/guitarist Steven Wilson during his recent solo gig at Nashville’s Cannery Ballroom. Wilson, known best for his progressive rock with his band Porcupine Tree, stripped his tone down for his current solo project, which requires two rigs.

The raw sound of a Telecaster plugged straight into an amp has become a signature tone for Steven Wilson’s recent project. To capture that tone, Wilson used his Fender 1963 Relic Telecaster built by the Custom Shop. The Telecaster is strung with D'Addario NYXL Plain Steel .011–.014–.018 on top and D’Addario Nickel Wound .030w–.042w–.052w on the bottom.

The centerpiece of Steven Wilson’s pedalboard is a GigRig G2 Switching System, which makes sense since GigRig guru Daniel Steinhardt wired the board up (and made many of its pedal selections himself). Steven’s array of pedals includes a Boss FL-500 volume pedal, a Source Audio Programmable EQ, a GigRig A/B/Y box, a Dunlop Cry Baby Wah, a TC Electronic PolyTune, a custom GigRig bank selector, an Option 5 Destination Rotation, a Selah Quartz, a Strymon TimeLine and BigSky, two Electro-Harmonix POGs, a Diamond Analog Vibrato, a Moog MF Trem, an Analog Man Price of Tone, an Amptweaker TightRock Jr., an Origin Effects Cali76, an EHX Small Stone, and a wealth of GigRig power accessories.

New 2 disc set from Steven Wilson featuring unreleased tracks, videos, live recordings and high-resolution audio -- available on Blu-ray & CD and CD & DVD
    OUT NOW!

In February 2013 Steven Wilson released The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories), his third solo album. The album was a huge critical and commercial success, earning numerous 5 star reviews and charting well across the world, debuting at #3 in the German national chart, #28 in the UK top 40, #57 in the US Billboard top 200, #16 in Holland and #17 in Finland.

Steven assembled a virtuoso band to record the album and subsequently embarked on a successful world tour. The band, currently made-up of Guthrie Govan (guitar), Adam Holzman (keyboards), Theo Travis (flute / sax), Nick Beggs (bass / stick), and Chad Wackerman (drums), will be back on tour throughout October and November playing three dates in Australia followed by an extensive run of European shows. Chad, who was Frank Zappa's longest serving drummer, has replaced Marco Minnemann, who played on the album and on the previous tour.

  • Behind Steven Wilsons Remixes - Is it Prog?

    13:31

Over the last decade, Steven Wilson has been the premiere remixing engineer for classic progressive rock albums. The catalogs of King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Yes, Rush, Marillion, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Gentle Giant, and Hawkwind have all been reinvigorated by Wilson, and there is no sign of him slowing down anytime soon.

So what goes into a remix of a classic album? How does he go about trying to breathe new life into a 40+-year-old album, while still retaining the essence of the music? And why is Steven Wilson the go-to for so many bands and record labels who are looking for something special for their anniversary release? We'll take a look into all that and more in this episode of Is It Prog?

  • Postcard - Steven Wilson

    4:33

I think it's time that I got off the kitchen floor
But is there really any point at all?
Waking up this morning felt the same
Better sleep while life is so mundane

It could have been yesterday that I locked the door
I blocked the windows up so I can't be sure
Now I haven't even got the will to eat
I'm lame and self-obsessed, that I will concede

I'd like to light a cigarette but I cannot
The lighter's dead and the gas has been cut off

I'm the one you always seem to read about
The fire inside my eyes has long gone out
There's nothing left for me to say or do
'Cause all that matters disappeared when I lost you...

Music is finite, opinions are endless. On The Album Years podcast, long term friends, collaborators and music nerds Steven Wilson and Tim Bowness discuss and bicker about their favourite music released during the golden album years, which they reckon to be from around 1965 to the end of the millennium. Each episode focuses on a single year picked at random. At the end of each episode they pick their personal favourites and the album they think had the most long-term impact on music. Can you guess which albums they will pick?

    3:34

WATCH THE OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR 'PERMANATING' HERE -

‘Permanating’ represents a departure from the rest of the album and the more melancholic material I'm known for in that it's probably the most joyous piece of pure pop I've ever recorded. In my mind this is what ABBA and Electric Light Orchestra would sound like as produced by Daft Punk! While I expect it to create healthy debate amongst my listeners, it's one of the songs I'm most proud of on the new record because it's such a different approach for me, and I thrive from changing my sound and trying new things. Production of a video for the song is in progress, news on that soon. In the meantime, hope you enjoy!

ARENA SHOWS ACROSS EUROPE AND UK
    SEPTEMBER 2020

“Every time I make a new album, it's hugely important for me that it holds a unique place in my catalogue and won't simply be more of the same. Moving into the third decade of the 21st century and my second decade as a touring solo artist, it felt like time to apply the same philosophy to the live experience. I want to challenge myself to create something that confronts my own notions (and hopefully the audience's too) of how to present my music in a concert situation. This has become The Future Bites - a series of special events at larger venues, something on a grander and more immersive scale. I'm already hugely excited about them!” - SW
