St. Paul de Vence at HEYDAY FARMS Teaser

    3:32

Back in August St. Paul de Vence performed in barn at the idyllic Bainbridge Island farm, HEYDAY. It was a magical, intimate evening of food, drinks and music - all of it island grown!

The evening was filmed and there will be a release of edited videos from the performance. This is a little teaser that we filmed in the hay loft of the milking barn, after the show. Ben's daughter, Aria, hung out for the late-night serenade.

    Enjoy!

    Tremolo Lights - Tidal Wave

    4:54

NPR Tiny Desk Submission - 2018

Tremolo Lights thanks everyone who was involved in this project, including Will David (videography) and Fabian Pena (audio production, drums).

P.S. Rachel (bass player) is sitting on the desk!

    Lyrics:

In all my lifetime I’ve never seen it
In all my life I couldn’t believe it
And I’ve been waiting, God knows I need it
I’m in the ocean trying to breathe in but

I’m swept away on the back of your tidal wave
I’m up and down, all around, all the way
I never thought that I’d feel this way
    Oh

    It’s such a magic mystery
Oh what you found in, found in me
And I’m wide open for you to see
    You’re touching me so tenderly

    Oh, Oh, Oh
    Hold me up
    I’m drowning in your love
    Oh, my cup
Runs over, and over, over and
    When I’ve had enough
    You always call my bluff
    Oh when I think
    It could be over

I’m swept away on the back of your tidal wave
I’m up and down, all around, all the way
I never thought that I’d feel this way
    Oh

I’m swept away on the back of your tidal wave
I’m up and down, all around, all the way
I never thought that I’d feel this way
    Oh

    What I want is
    Not to get lost
I kind of like myself the way I am
Don’t want to die in your ocean
    Oh

    Don’t take my life away
I’m in the water and I want to stay
    Oh can I be me?
We’ll be together and still feel free
    Oh

In all my lifetime, I’ve never seen it

    By My Side

    3:37

This is Juice. This is a song about Juice. Juice hopes that all of the furbabies (even the cats) who are as loved as she is get to hear it!

    Music and lyrics
    by Crys Matthews
v1. Little dog with your big, brown eyes
you're the bright yellow sun when all I see is gray skies.
Won't you teach me how to be a little more like you,
how to always see the best in people no matter what they do,
how to size up every stranger I meet,
how to know when to bite, or when to just show my teeth?
Oh, life gets so hard sometimes,
but it's nothin' I can't handle with you by my side.

ch. She doesn't ask me why I'm feeling blue —
I don't have to say a word and she understands.
If I could be half the person my dog is
then I would be twice the human I am.

v2. Little dog with your big, funny grin
you're my shot in the arm when life's wearing me thin.
Won't you teach me how to be joyful like you,
how to find the simplest pleasures in every little thing I do,
how to take more time to cut loose and play,
how to just wander and trust I'll find my way?
Oh, life gets so hard sometimes,
but it's nothin' I can't handle with you by my side.

ch. She doesn't ask me why I'm feeling blue —
I don't have to say a word and she understands.
If I could be half the person my dog is
then I would be twice the human I am.

v3. Little dog with your big, big heart
you're the apple of my eye, my moon and stars.
Won't teach me all you can about this world,
how to be the kind of friend to others that you've been to me, girl,
how to love with every fiber of my being,
how to keep on smiling with all the sadness I'm seeing?
Oh, life gets so hard sometimes,
but it's nothin' I can't handle with you by my side.

ch. She doesn't ask me why I'm feeling blue —
I don't have to say a word and she understands.
If I could be half the person my dog is
then I would be twice the human I am.

Light Up by Old Deer Ensemble

    4:10

NPR's 2018 Tiny Desk Contest Submission
    lyrics:
    In the morning sun
plant the seeds that make your whole life fun
    time for waking
from all that time that you spent on the run
    the roads we travel
same old stories about the rise and fall
    destination
here and now is the sum of it all

    Light up bright up
    take what your feeling
    Light up bright up
    start to believe in
    Light up bright up
oh and raise your spirits high

    You won't find peace
in all the fighting 'bout what's yours and mine
    seek your fortune
but be careful how you spend your time
    love completely
it's the greatest thing you'll ever find
    mother nature
is what you need to ease your mind

    Light up bright up
    take what your feeling
    Light up bright up
    start to believe in
    Light up bright up
oh and raise your spirits high

    It all goes round
    spiral waves and circle sounds
    what comes next
with all of our winnings in the lost and found
    it's a road wide open
so very much for us to contemplate
    new worlds waiting
as we grow beyond our fear and hate

    Light up bright up
    take what your feeling
    Light up bright up
    start to believe in
    Light up bright up
oh and raise your spirits high

Luke Buck - Broken | NPR Tiny Desk Contest 2018

    3:53

Here's a little solo video for this year's entry for NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Contest. Too much to do and too little time seems like a general theme for life, but I couldn't pass up the chance to make something, especially after I just finished putting this guitar together less than a week ago!

I've been playing around with some pedals recently trying to figure out where and how they belong in my songs. This one is Earthquaker Device's Dispatch Master which has a really solid reverb and a very cool time warping delay. I think it takes this song (originally an acoustic tune) and brings it to a unique new level.

    Shannon Söderlund Secretary

    3:26

Find my EP, Innocent Heart, here:

The story behind the song: I was feeling frustrated one day about my inability to write more, due to lack of space, lack of time, and the pressures of everyday life. In my discontent, I started working on this plan to revamp my tiny NY apartment to make space for a desk - an actual place that I could sit down and work. As I planned all this out, though, I realized that a desk wouldn't actually solve any of my problems for me. It would only be a desk. In that frame of mind, I wrote the song.
I did, however, end up buying a desk, and it is the one we're sitting at for this song. In solidarity with the tune's title and my current day job, it is, in fact, a secretary desk.

    Shannon Söderlund - vocals
    Pamela Vachon - harmonies
    Andrew Söderlund - guitar

    Lyrics:

If I had a desk, then I could write a couple songs because
My life would be all put up in its place
The pens would rest in holders and the envelopes, you know, would all just
Hang out in their designated space

    A corner, put together
Like a puzzle, it should weather
    Inconsistency
    As long as it's controlled
Down to a detail, I can hold on
    To my sanity

If I had a desk, then I would write a couple notes to all
The loved ones that I know
I'd go through alphabetically, to make sure that I didn't miss
    A single, solitary Joe

    A corner, put together
Like a puzzle, it should weather
    Inconsistency
    As long as it's controlled
Down to a detail, I can hold on
    To my sanity

If I had a desk, then I'd get stationary monogrammed
And styled within an inch of every page
And everyone would be able to tell that every jot and tittle
    Had been particularly placed

    A corner, put together
Like a puzzle, it should weather
    Inconsistency
    As long as it's controlled
Down to a detail, I can hold on
    To my sanity

Charles Aznavour & Julio Iglesias Que Cest Triste Venise

    3:18

Charles Aznavour & Julio Iglesias duet in this historic recording, with an Aznavour original, Que C'est Triste Venise (How Sad Is Venice!!).
This song describes how sad one of the worlds most romantic cities can be, when you've just lost your love.....

Aznavour is often described as the Sinatra of Europe. In addition to being a multi-language vocalist, he has composed the music, as well as written the lyrics to the original French version of his songs. At the age of 89, with well over 50 years of experience (half a century), he is spending most of his time in retirement, in his home in Switzerland.

He's just put his finishing touches to a life long career, in his latest recording titled, Duos. In this recording he duets with some of the worlds most popular singers, including Nana Mouskouri, Paul Anka, Sting, Placido Domingo and of course the international superstar Julio Iglesias.

    Lyrics to the English version:

How sad Venice can be when you return alone
To find a memory in every paving stone
I walk among the birds that fill San Marco's Square
With echoes of her words around me in the air.

How sad Venice can be when the mandolins play
A song she sung for me, one unforgotten day
Like images of sleep, the gondoliers go by
But when I try to weep, I find my tears are dry.

How sad Venice can be when mist is in your eyes
And you can hardly see, as pidgeons fill the skies
I find the little street and then the old café
Where we would always meet to dream away the day.

How sad Venice can be, beneath the silent moon
That rises from the sea and silvers the lagoon
I hear the vespers chime and cross the Bridge of Sighs
I know that it is time to bid my last goodbyes.

There's nothing more to say, I pass beneath the light
And then I turn away from Venice in the night
How sad Venice can be, it's too lonely to bear
When you have lost the love that you discovered there.

Aviation- Fly Sparrow Fly live in the studio

    4:13

Aviation records Fly Sparrow Fly live to enter NPR's Tiny Desk Concert contest! Look closely. The keyboard is resting on a tiny desk. It's a desk, not a coffee table, I assure you. It may look like a coffee table, hell, it may have even be used to support a coffee cup at some point, but for the purposes of this video, it is indeed a tiny desk!*

Fly Sparrow Fly was written by Sam Diedrich and appears as the second track on Aviation's eponymous debut album.
    This video features:
    Sam Diedrich: Vocals, Keyboard
    Leo Cohen: Guitar
    Joaquin Contreras

*Okay, fine it's a coffee table

    War Between the Trees

    4:59

Moonshine Kids submission to the 2018 NPR Tiny Desk Contest.
War Between the Trees is a song about the longterm impacts of human interference in nature. While camping in the Apostle Islands, we met some firefighters performing a controlled burn. They explained that people planted birch trees on the islands for logging many years ago, and that this had fundamentally altered the chemical makeup of the soil. The new biome is hostile to the red pines, which originally grew on the islands - as the pines die, so do the berries, and eventually the bears that depend on the berries. However, we saw pine trees making a comeback, berry bushes growing again, and even some bear poop! The damage is not irreversible yet.

Solomon Thorne- NPR Tiny Desk Contest 2018 Submission / We Would Be Together featuring Mollie Rose

    7:12

Submission for NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest 2018. Solomon Thorne (Lyrics/Vocals/Keys) —Mollie Rose (Violin).

I’m so glad to be submitting for the contest this year. I always thought to do it but never got around to manifesting the thought a.k.a I was terrified. Bob Boilen and Tiny Desk staff you guys are amazing and incredibly lit. You introduce me to new, extraordinary artists all the time. Thanks for the opportunity to play for you.

Btw, I wrote this song about two years ago. It came from a very sad place but it’s really edifying and healing for me to sing it. I hope the same for you listening.

    Blessings,
    Solomon

Little insight to Indian and English Saxophone jams

    6:52

These are only short clips from our gig in Saint Paul de Vence, France, with my lovely friend Sunny who is from India and my other friend, the saxophone player from Germany. Enjoy some insights. The last two songs are from our street music tour through Europe.

By the way, Saint Paul de Vence is an amazing little town I can reccomend. It's right next to Nice in France
