    'Song Of Durin' - Original Lyrics by Eurielle.

    A King there was on throne engraved,
    In great halls of colonnades,
    With roof of gold and argent floor,
    And mighty runes along the door.
    The brightest light of moon and star
    In crystal lamps shines through the dark,
    Unshadowed by the veil of night
    They burned eternal shimmering white.

    The skies are bleak, the hills are aged,
    The forges flames have died away;
    No songs are sung, no blade is cast,
    In Durin's halls the evil lasts!
    The darkness hangs over his tomb
    Beneath the mountain in the gloom,
    But e'er the fallen stars glow freer
    In cool and breathless Mirrormere;
    There rests his crown in water clear
    Till Durin returns once more from sleep.

    ► Making of : my both passion are gaming, & music. I am also in love with Tolkien World, Lord of the Rings & Hobbit books, films, & soundtrack.
    This music was composed by Clamavi de Profundis, an awesome singer band doing Cover & Original composition around Tolkien Universe. I am a huge fan of the original music, so I decided to make the Cello Cover for 13 Cellos.

    This music fits perfectly with the deep warm & mysterious sound of the Cello. There are 7 differents parts, all played twice except the Melody (in the big central screen).
    2 Cellos are doing the lower bass (on the down side corner), holding a single deep note : Bb on the C string (I use a scordatura = detune the cello to gain access to lower note than on a normal cello)
    2 Cellos are doing the upper bass (on the left side)
    2 Cellos are doing the tenor (on the right side)
    4 Cellos are doing the alto (on the top side, split into 2)
    And finally, 2 cellos are doing drums, I had to remix & change a lot the sound to make the sound better :)

    A huge thanks to Clamavi De Profundis for creating this awesome music & for sharing for free the sheet music (available below)

    I will play more Cello Cover in the future, from Lord of the Rings, & more (Game Of Throne, The Witcher, Guild Wars 2...)

    I am playing the Cello as amateur, & making videos on my free time.
    Making a single video like a guide, or a Cello Cover, is very time consuming : arrangement, create score, training, record the cello or my gameplay, filming, editing, mixing audio, uploading, etc.

    And I love to share this love, with you. I am very passionate, & willing to make at least one Cello Cover & GW2 Guide per month.

    Lyrics by Eurielle

    Thorin! King Under The Mountain
    Alas no more shall rule this domain
    We brethren must go on without him
    And ensure his death was not in vain

    In sleep eternal he will rest
    With the Arkenstone upon his breast
    Which evermore shall emit its light
    To banish the darkness of unending night

    And on his tomb is Orcrist laid
    An Elven blade forged in Elder Days
    To warn of foes and roving orcs
    And ward off all evil from Erebor

    How shall we remember our fallen friend
    Who conquered Dragon Sickness in the end?
    A warrior, leader, a proud flawed king?
    A worthy descendent of mighty Durin!

    Album: The Complete Songs & Poems
    CD: 2

    ___________________________________________________________

    The Tolkien Ensemble (founded in 1995) is a Danish ensemble which aims to create the world's first complete musical interpretation of the poems and songs from The Lord of the Rings. They published four CDs from 1997 to 2005, in which all the poems and songs of The Lord of the Rings are set to music. The project was approved by both the Tolkien family and HarperCollins Publishers. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark gave permission to use her illustrations in the CD layout.

    Permanent members are Caspar Reiff and Peter Hall (composition, singing and guitar), Signe Asmussen (singing), Öyvind Ougaard (accordion), Katja Nielsen (double-bass), and Morten Ryelund Sørensen (conductor and violin).

    The Ensemble has toured Europe in 2007, combining their own works with soundtrack pieces from Howard Shore's soundtrack to the film trilogy as well as live narration by Christopher Lee.

    Lyrics:

    When the Hammer Falls

    Down in the deep,
    Where the dragon used to sleep,
    Glorious gold,
    Glimmers in our home of old,
    Dark as the night,
    Where the day has lost its light,
    When the hammer falls.

    When the hammer falls,
    And it sounds through the halls,
    When the hammer falls,
    Freeing treasures from the walls,
    When the hammer strikes,
    And the kingdom comes to life,
    When the hammer pounds,
    Like the thunder underground,
    When the hammer falls,
    When the hammer falls!

    Of legend and myth,
    Is the craft of the smith,
    The molten metal poured,
    And pounded into sword,
    From the fire is made,
    Every Dwarven axe and blade,
    When the hammer falls.

    When the hammer falls,
    Forging weapons for all,
    When the hammer falls,
    Songs of battle fill the halls,
    When the hammer flies,
    Lines of armored Dwarves arise,
    With the hammer’s roar
    We go marching off to war!
    When the hammer falls,
    When the hammer falls!

    The orcs came to our land,
    And we fought them hand to hand.
    Sweat and blood,
    Turned the ground to mud,
    Dwarf and Orc in strife,
    Sought to vanquish every life,
    When the hammer falls.

    When the hammer falls,
    Back our enemy crawls
    When the hammer quakes,
    Orcish cowards’ bones will break,
    When the hammer cracks,
    And it beats their armies back,
    When the hammer’s boom,
    Sends the monsters to their doom,
    When the hammer falls,
    When the hammer falls!

    When the hammer falls,
    Then our victory calls,
    When the hammer falls,
    Songs of glory fill the halls,
    When the hammer flies,
    Mighty heroes now arise,
    With the hammer’s sound,
    Live the Dwarves down underground,
    When the hammer falls,
    When the hammer falls!

    4:21

    Music in mine; the poetry is from The Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien. Thanks for watching! Comments and subscriptions are sincerely appreciated!

    The world was young, the mountains green,
    No stain yet on the Moon was seen,
    No words were laid on stream or stone
    When Durin woke and walked alone.

    He named the nameless hills and dells;
    He drank from yet untasted wells;
    He stooped and looked in Mirrormere,
    And saw a crown of stars appear,
    As gems upon a silver thread,
    Above the shadow of his head.

    The world was fair, the mountains tall,
    In Elder days before the fall
    Of mighty kings in Nargothrond
    And Gondolin, who now beyond
    The Western Seas have passed away:
    The world was fair in Durin's Day.

    A king he was on carven throne
    In many-pillared halls of stone
    With golden roof and silver floor,
    And runes of power upon the door.
    The light of sun and star and moon
    In shining lamps of crystal hewn
    Undimmed by cloud or shade or night
    There shone for ever fair and bright.

    There hammer on the anvil smote,
    There chisel clove, and graver wrote;
    There forged was blade, and bound was hilt;
    The delver mined, the mason built.
    There beryl, pearl, and opal pale,
    And metal wrought like fishes mail,
    Buckler and corslet, axe and sword,
    And shining spears were laid in hoard.

    Unwearied then were Durin's folk;
    Beneath the mountains music woke:
    The harpers harped, the minstrels sang,
    And at the gates the trumpets rang.

    The world is grey, the mountains old,
    The forge's fire is ashen-cold;
    No harp is wrung, no hammer falls:
    The darkness dwells in Durin's halls;
    The shadow lies upon his tomb
    In Moria, in Khazad-dûm.
    But still the sunken stars appear
    In dark and windless Mirrormere;
    There lies his crown in water deep
    Till Durin wakes again from sleep

    'Song Of Durin' - Original Lyrics by Eurielle (as in this video):

    A King there was on throne engraved,
    In great halls of colonnades,
    With roof of gold and argent floor,
    And mighty runes along the door.
    The brightest light of moon and star
    In crystal lamps shines through the dark,
    Unshadowed by the veil of night
    They burned eternal shimmering white.

    The skies are bleak, the hills are aged,
    The forges flames have died away;
    No songs are sung, no blade is cast,
    In Durin's halls the evil lasts!
    The darkness hangs over his tomb
    Beneath the mountain in the gloom,
    But e'er the fallen stars glow freer
    In cool and breathless Mirrormere;
    There rests his crown in water clear
    Till Durin returns once more from sleep.

    The world was fair, the mountains tall,
    In Elder Days before the fall
    Of mighty kings in Nargothrond
    And Gondolin, who now beyond
    The Western Seas have passed away:
    The world was fair in Durin's Day.

    A king he was on carven throne
    In many-pillared halls of stone
    With golden roof and silver floor,
    And runes of power upon the door.
    The light of sun and star and moon
    In shining lamps of crystal hewn
    Undimmed by cloud or shade of night
    There shone for ever fair and bright.

    There hammer on the anvil smote,
    There chisel clove, and graver wrote;
    There forged was blade, and bound was hilt;
    The delver mined, the mason built.
    There beryl, pearl, and opal pale,
    And metal wrought like fishes' mail,
    Buckler and corslet, axe and sword,
    And shining spears were laid in hoard.

    Unwearied then were Durin's folk;
    Beneath the mountains music woke:
    The harpers harped, the minstrels sang,
    And at the gates the trumpets rang.

    The world is grey, the mountains old,
    The forge's fire is ashen-cold;
    No harp is wrung, no hammer falls:
    The darkness dwells in Durin's halls;
    The shadow lies upon his tomb
    In Moria, in Khazad-dûm.
    But still the sunken stars appear
    In dark and windless Mirrormere;
    There lies his crown in water deep,
    Till Durin wakes again from sleep.
