Montclair State University professor H. Mark Hubey (1998) concludes that ... The common Turkic branch which includes all the rest can be split into the /c/j/y/ branch and the /x/ġ/w/ branches. Seeing that the 't' to 's' transition is already in Sumerian, and that the Uralic 't' to 's' shift is thought to have occurred 6,000 years ago, we can be reasonably sure that some of the words traced out here certainly belong to quite an ancient age and to the west. This means that the proto-Turks or at least one of their ancestors moved from the Euphrates area north through the Caucasus and then to the steppes, and then eastwards. The historical ‘Turks’ are those moving back towards the west. Since all the branches of Turkic seem to occur in the West (Chuvash, Oguz, Kipchak, Khalaj) there is no reason to look for Turkic homelands beyond the Altays. That was their second home.

    4:02

Bulgaria (/bʌlˈɡɛəriə, bʊl-/ (About this sound listen); Bulgarian: България, tr. Bǎlgariya), officially the Republic of Bulgaria (Bulgarian: Република България, tr. Republika Bǎlgariya, pronounced [rɛˈpublikɐ bɐɫˈɡarijɐ]), is a country in southeastern Europe. It is bordered by Romania to the north, Serbia and Macedonia to the west, Greece and Turkey to the south, and the Black Sea to the east. With a territory of 110,994 square kilometres (42,855 sq mi), Bulgaria is Europe's 16th-largest country.

Organised prehistoric cultures began developing on current Bulgarian lands during the Neolithic period. Its ancient history saw the presence of the Thracians, Greeks, Persians, Celts, Romans, Goths, Alans and Huns. The emergence of a unified Bulgarian state dates back to the establishment of the First Bulgarian Empire in 681 AD, which dominated most of the Balkans and functioned as a cultural hub for Slavs during the Middle Ages. With the downfall of the Second Bulgarian Empire in 1396, its territories came under Ottoman rule for nearly five centuries. The Russo-Turkish War of 1877–78 led to the formation of the Third Bulgarian State. The following years saw several conflicts with its neighbours, which prompted Bulgaria to align with Germany in both world wars. In 1946 it became a one-party socialist state as part of the Soviet-led Eastern Bloc. In December 1989 the ruling Communist Party allowed multi-party elections, which subsequently led to Bulgaria's transition into a democracy and a market-based economy.

Bulgaria's population of 7.2 million people is predominantly urbanised and mainly concentrated in the administrative centres of its 28 provinces. Most commercial and cultural activities are centred on the capital and largest city, Sofia. The strongest sectors of the economy are heavy industry, power engineering, and agriculture, all of which rely on local natural resources.

The country's current political structure dates to the adoption of a democratic constitution in 1991. Bulgaria is a unitary parliamentary republic with a high degree of political, administrative, and economic centralisation. It is a member of the European Union, NATO, and the Council of Europe; a founding state of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE); and has taken a seat at the UN Security Council three times

  • National Anthem of the Tsardom of Bulgaria «

Shumi Maritsa (Bulgarian: Шуми Марица, pronounced [ʃoˈmi mɐˈritsɐ]) was the Bulgarian national anthem from 1886 until 1947. The music was derived from the German folk song Wenn die Soldaten durch die Stadt marschieren that was very popular in Bulgaria in the mid-19th century. The original text was written by Nikola Zhivkov, a head teacher in Veles (now in the Republic of Macedonia). The lyrics were edited many times, most notably in 1912 by the poet Ivan Vazov. The title refers to the Maritsa river. It literally translates to Maritsa makes noise but the connotation is closer to Maritsa roars.

  • Unofficial Anthem of the German Empire - Die Wacht am Rhein

    2:45

Die Wacht am Rhein (The Watch/Guard on the Rhine) is a German patriotic anthem. The song's origins are rooted in the historical French–German enmity, and it was particularly popular in Germany during the Franco-Prussian War and the First World War.
In the poem, with five original stanzas, a thunderous call is made for all Germans to rush and defend the German Rhine, to ensure that no enemy sets his foot on the shore of the Rhine (4th stanza). Two stanzas with a more specific text were added by others later. Unlike the older Heil dir im Siegerkranz which praised a monarch, Die Wacht am Rhein and other songs written in this period, such as the Deutschlandlied (the third verse of which is Germany's current national anthem) and Was ist des Deutschen Vaterland? (What is the German's Fatherland?) by Ernst Moritz Arndt, called for Germans to unite, to put aside sectionalism and the rivalries of the various German kingdoms and principalities, to establish a unified German state and defend Germany's territorial integrity.
Die Wacht am Rhein—beside Heil dir im Siegerkranz—was the unofficial second national anthem. The song became famous, and both the composer and the family of the author were honoured and granted an annual pension by Bismarck.

    Rose Festival in Kazanlak Bulgaria

History: The Rosa Damascena is the name of the oil-yielding rose, which made Bulgaria famous as the best rose oil in the world. Born in Syria, Damascus, Rosa Damascena mill was brought to Bulgaria during the 17th century, when Bulgaria was part of the Ottoman Empire. This full of aroma rose found a second home in Bulgaria. It gave its name to a whole region – The Rose valley of Bulgaria.

Extending more than 130 km along the Balkan mountain range, the Rose Valley is surrounded by two mountains, which stop the cold winds in the winter time and help create a specific climate. The combination of several factors makes this region a unique place for growing this sort of rose. The oil extracted from it is the best quality in the world. So the Valley of Roses became a centre of rose oil production and export for centuries. The Rose Valley includes Karlovo and Kazanlak fields, as well as some parts of the Nova Zagora fields. The Total area is about 3,300 square kilometers.

The rose bushes flower for about 25 days a year from mid-May to mid-June. The blooms are picked by hand early in the morning when the aroma is strongest, and transported in small quantities to the distillery. Seedlings come from the Rose Research Institute at Kazanluk, which has developed several Damascena rose varieties suited to conditions in the valley.

Every year, during the first weekend of June, local community in Kazanlak organizes the annual Rose Festival. The first festival took place 108 years ago, in 1903. Celebrations were held annually, at the beginning of the rose- harvesting period. Karlovo and Pavel Banya- also known for their rose production, started organizing local rose festivals, too. Manufacturers from the whole valley gather dressed up in rose flowers. Mummers, called “koukeri” take part in the street parade. People sing and dance in the streets during the whole fest.

Three main events are worth a visit – early morning harvesting ritual in the rose fields, the electing of Queen Rose and the parade along the streets of each town. The processions and the celebrations last for two days. The climax of the festival in on Sunday when Queen Rose is being elected and festival parade takes place along the main streets of each village. There are other interesting events, taking place during the festival weekend – choir a cappella and folklore concerts, art shows, exhibitions, wine-tasting, gourmet-shows, etc. The Rose Festival and the fame of the Bulgarian oil-yielding rose attract numerous visitors from all parts of the world, the most numerous are visitors from Japan, Taiwan and France.

Byzantine chant in Georgian (Orthodoxy Loo)
subscribe to our channel and put it
The spread of Christianity in modern Georgia until the 4th century is still little known. The first documented event in this process is the sermon of St. Nino and its consequences, although exact dates are still being discussed. St. Nino, revered as an equal to the apostles, was traditionally the daughter of a Roman general from Cappadocia. She preached in the kingdom of Iberia (also known as Kartli) in the first half of the fourth century, and her intercession ultimately led to the transformation of King Mirian III, his wife, the Queen (later Saint) of Nana and their family. Kirill Tumanovdates Mirian's appeal to 334, his official baptism and the subsequent adoption of Christianity as the official religion of Iberia to 337. From the first centuries AD, e. The cult of Mithras, pagan beliefs and Zoroastrianism is usually practiced in Georgia. However, now they began to gradually decrease, even though Zoroastrianism became the second established religion of Iberia after the world of Acilisene in 378, or more precisely by the middle of the fifth century.

The royal baptism and organization of the Church were performed by priests sent from Constantinople from Constantine the Great. The transformation of people into Kartli occurred quickly on the plains, but pagan beliefs existed for a long time in mountainous areas. The western kingdom of Egrisi was politically and culturally different from Kartli at that time and more culturally more integrated into the Roman Empire; some of his cities were already bishops by the time of the First Council of Nicaea

  • The Saint Nicholas Maglizh Monastery

    3:17

The Saint Nicholas Maglizh Monastery (“Saint Nicholas of the Fog Monastery”) is located a mile north of the city Maglizh on the slopes of the Central Balkans, 13 km east of the city Kazanlak and 33 km from the city of Stara Zagora.

The monastery complex includes a church, living quarters, stables, and two chapels – The Saints Peter and Paul Chapel and The Archangel Michael Chapel.

The monastery is recognized by all three of these names: The Saint Nicholas Monastery, The Saints Peter and Paul Monastery, and The Archangel Michael Monastery. The oldest object at the monastery is a censer on which there is a Greek inscription dated 1233, which was during the reign of Tsar Ivan-Asen (reign 1218-1241), so the history of the monastery has some connection with the Second Bulgarian Empire (1185-1393).

After the invasion of the Ottoman Turks during the 14th century, the monastery was often plundered and burned, and then rebuilt.

In 1834, the current church at the monastery was erected, which is a single-nave, single-apse construction without a cupola. A point of interest in the church is that some of the Bulgarian saints depicted by the masters on the church’s icons are wearing traditional Bulgarian clothing.

During the Russo-Turkish war (1877-1888), the Ottomans again set fire to the monastery, but the local residents were able to rebuild it in just a year and a half.

The monastery maintained a school for rug weaving, and it also provided shelter for revolutionaries who fought to liberate the country from the Ottomans. Vasil Levski (1837-1873), known as an apostle of the Bulgarian revolution, stayed at the monastery on several occasions.

In 1922, the monastery was converted into a convent, and there are still a few nuns living on the premises.

The monastery offers accommodations for a few visitors. Reservations should be made in advance. The rooms are basic, without showers or toilets.

There is a trail leading from the monastery to the Vinishki Rock Nature Reserve, where an icon dedicated to The Holy Trinity has been carved into the cliff face.

Sabaton in Bulgaria for second time! This is a somewhat bad recording of the song 'Union' .

In the beginning Joakim talks about how wonderful the Bulgarian audience is, he says that we make him forget what he is supposed to say; than he says that the Art of War tour at its end will consist of 160 concerts, and that BULGARIA is number 2 of the top 5 :) Joakim: I promise you, this is not artist bullshit - straight from our hearts, okay? No bullshit. The Bulgarian heavy metal audience has to be the fuckin most crazy and best metal audience in the world - and WE applaud YOU' :)))

  • Elitsa & Stoyan - Kismet / Bulgaria Eurovision 2013

    3:18

Elitsa & Stoyan - Kismet (Bulgaria Eurovision 2013 Winner)

Elitsa Todorova & Stoyan Yankulov will represent Bulgarian at Eurovision 2013 with the song Kismet (Destiny).

The music of the second piece is by Elitsa Todorova and the vocal group Bistrihskite Babi, and the arrangement is by Stoyan Yankulov and the Argentinean DJ Jonathan Tesey Kintar. Kismet is a contemporary and modern song in the well established chillout style, and is professionally presented by Stoyan and Elitsa, with the ethnic elements, typical for the duo. The mix between the two radically different elements makes it notable and distinguishing, and the skillfully intertwining authentic folklore vocals of Petio Kostadinov increase the feeling of intransience.

  • Koukouzelis · Greek Byzantine Choir · Lycourgos Angelopoulos

    1:13:04

A very good rendition of some of the most important works of Ioannis Papadopoulos Koukouzelis, undoubtly the greatist composer of Greek church music in the 13th century and the second best ever, after composer John Damascene. His hymns are considered the most difficult, especially the so-called ''slow'', including the famous Cherubic and Preserve, O Lord, our Master and Hierarch. Powerful, majestic interpretations, full of the splendor of the last years of the Byzantine empire. A strong sense of the feelings of mankind facing God and eternity. One of the best studio recordings of Greek church music (and, actually, one of the very few releases devoted exclusively to Koukouzelis).
