Elvis-Guaranteed To Blow Your Mind-March 18th,1974-Warm LP Sound Version

    55:41

Elvis-Guaranteed To Blow Your Mind-Richmond,VA-March 18th,1974 Warm LP Sound Version made by me. I had to exclude the song Trying To Get To You because that song caused it to be blocked on youtube by SME. I included a lot of pics from the show. Also click on the time(s) in blue to go to a song you want to hear. The reverb you hear was on the original soundboard recording, I did NOT add any extra to it. I re-made this to be warmer on easier on the ears. It was made from the old bootleg cd.

Hank Mobley - GREATEST HITS (FULL ALBUM)
    Download on Google Play:

Henry Hank Mobley (July 7, 1930 – May 30, 1986) was an American hard bop and soul jazz tenor saxophonist and composer. Mobley was described by Leonard Feather as the middleweight champion of the tenor saxophone, a metaphor used to describe his tone, that was neither as aggressive as John Coltrane nor as mellow as Stan Getz, and his style that was laid-back, subtle and melodic, especially in contrast with players like Sonny Rollins and Coltrane. The critic Stacia Proefrock claimed he is one of the most underrated musicians of the bop era. Mobley was born in Eastman, Georgia, but was raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey, near Newark. When he was 16, an illness kept him in the house for several months. His grandmother thought of buying a saxophone to help him occupy his time, and it was then that Mobley began to play. He tried to enter a music school in Newark, but couldn't, since he was not a resident, so he kept studying through books at home. At 19, he started to play with local bands and, months later, worked for the first time with musicians like Dizzy Gillespie and Max Roach. He took part in one of the earliest hard bop sessions, alongside Art Blakey, Horace Silver, Doug Watkins and trumpeter Kenny Dorham. The results of these sessions were released as Horace Silver and the Jazz Messengers. They contrasted with the classical inclinations of cool jazz, with Mobley's rich lyricism being bluesier, alongside the funky approach of Silver. When The Jazz Messengers split in 1956, Mobley continued on with pianist Silver for a short time, although he did work again with Blakey some years later, when the drummer appeared on Mobley's albums in the early 1960s. During the 1960s, he worked chiefly as a leader, recording over 20 albums for Blue Note Records between 1955 and 1970, including Soul Station (1960), generally considered to be his finest recording, and Roll Call (1960). He performed with many of the other important hard bop players, such as Grant Green, Freddie Hubbard, Sonny Clark, Wynton Kelly and Philly Joe Jones, and formed a particularly productive partnership with trumpeter Lee Morgan. Mobley is widely recognized as one of the great composers of originals in the hard bop era, with interesting chord changes and room for soloists to stretch out. Mobley spent a brief time in 1961 with Miles Davis, during the trumpeter's search for a replacement for JohJp Coltrane. He is heard on the album Someday My Prince Will Come (alongside Coltrane, who returned for the recording of two tracks), and several live recordings (In Person: Live at the Blackhawk and At Carnegie Hall). Though considered by some as not having the improvisational fire of Coltrane, Mobley was known for his melodic playing. Mobley was forced to retire in the mid-1970s due to lung problems. He worked two engagements at the Angry Squire in New York City November 22 and 23, 1985, and January 11, 1986, in a quartet with Duke Jordan and guest singer Lodi Carr a few months before his death from pneumonia in 1986.

    19. The Prophets Song

    4:27

Hello you crazy and wonderful subscribers! As I mentioned on the previous upload, this new version of Queen’s last London show from the NOTW Tour surfaced recently. To date, this is the best version of the show in terms of quality and completeness sake. Compared with the original version that was previously on my channel, this version of the show is a night and day difference. Due to the improved quality and having many more songs, this gig is being looked at in a different light!

The quality can be split into two sections. The first 2/3 of the show is in average quality at best - but it’s an improvement over the original version of the show. The sound is slightly cleaner and doesn’t have as much hiss. The last 1/3 of the show (from the last couple minutes of the guitar solo through to “God Save The Queen”) is an improvement in sound and is generally in good quality (although there’s some distortion throughout that gets worse during the last few songs). This version of the show is mostly complete (the first few songs are still missing along with a few cuts throughout) which is a big help!

For this final concert of the NOTW Tour, the band are absolutely on fire for the most part and give the audience a hell of a show! Freddie is also in mostly excellent voice. Compared with the previous London concerts, Freddie displays a bit more of a “peaks and valleys” type scenario with his vocals. On some songs, he gives more of an effort and nails sections with complete authority, while other spots in the show have either more conservative phrasing or rough moments. With the improved quality and additional songs, it’s far easier to look at Freddie’s performances! Speaking of performances… let’s talk about them!

“Somebody To Love” is another great version overall from the tour. Freddie’s vocals are mostly on-point and he displays great creativity and gusto throughout the song. Brian has a bit of a rough time with the solo unfortunately. “White Queen” is a surprise for the crowd as Queen hasn’t played the song in almost a year. Freddie sounds great overall and the band have a blast playing it. Roger almost train-wrecks during the instrumental section, but manages to keep things from falling apart. “Death On Two Legs” is another fantastic version from the tour. “Killer Queen” sounds better than the previous night’s performance as Freddie sounds a bit more confident with his singing and Brian does a better job on the solo. “Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy” is mostly good although Freddie’s attempt at the Bb4 in the last chorus is very rough. “I’m In Love With My Car” has Freddie singing along with the first part of the chorus but doesn’t sound he sings along during the second part. “Get Down Make Love” is another solid performance for the NOTW Tour. “The Millionaire Waltz” is a great version overall with Brian delivering some great guitar work throughout. “You’re My Best Friend” is the typical solid performance as expected (although John slightly flubs the bass line after the “wandering round” line). “Spread Your Wings” is great overall, but Freddie holds back in spots when compared to the other “elite” versions from the tour. He doesn’t sustain phrases as long and does a bit more speak-singing compared with other versions. “It’s Late” is a good rendition although Freddie has a bit of nodule trouble in spots (and even dives into the lower octave during the final chorus), and “Now I’m Here” is a great performance overall!

“Love Of My Life” sounds wonderful with a mix of nice Freddie vocals and the crowd singing along! He even goes for the “I still love you” like the Crazy Tour versions (although he doesn’t sustain the note as long). “’39” is a great version overall, but Freddie makes up lyrics in the first verse. “My Melancholy Blues” sounds much better than the previous night’s version as Freddie doesn’t push his voice as hard and sounds more stable in general. “White Man” is an amazing performance with Freddie giving his absolute all and delivers the song with authority. “Liar” is sadly cut, but what we have displays a band on fire with Freddie sounding strong in general. “Bohemian Rhapsody” is an extremely surprising version as Freddie nails the first verse very similarly to the studio version. He also does great phrasing on the second verse and during the final sections of the song. This is likely the best version of the song before the Crazy Tour. “Keep Yourself Alive” sounds excellent overall with Freddie being very gutsy in general. “Tie Your Mother Down” is good overall, but is out-shined by other versions from the tour. “Sheer Heart Attack” is a solid performance in general. “Jailhouse Rock” is a fun performance that is very loose and is more of a jam instead of the standard song. “We Will Rock You” contains possibly the funniest moment during the concert as the band train-wreck going into Brian’s solo section, and “We Are The Champions” ends the show by being strong and typical of the tour standard!

    ENJOY!!!

As with all of our music and other videos on youtube, we strive to encompass the largest variety of music that we can, doing everything from Christmas music, to popular, classical and sacred. As always, we own no rights to these songs, and are crediting the compositions to their rightful composers/artists. We use this music for entertainment purposes only!

If you would like details about the sharing/purchasing availability of this or other arrangements, as well as custom arrangements, contact the group at thecompassquartet@yahoo.com

    The Compass Quartet is:
    Jacob Head, violin
    Kate Tyree, violin
    Geoff Britton, viola
    Addison Becker, cello

Thanks to Mr. James Stinnett (2nd violin here) for the year and a half he put into the group, making it stronger than ever, and thank you now for your service in the US Navy!

Be sure to check out our other videos and arrangements on our channel!

    Our Bio:

On October 1st, 2009, Jacob Head decided to turn the idea of having his own music group into a reality. Choosing Kate Tyree, Tom Coovert and Lindsey (Addison) Becker as the original members in the fall of his freshman year at the U of L School of Music, the quartet performed at many venues around downtown Louisville such as the Muhammad Ali Center and the KY Center for the Performing Arts. The quartet also hosted a Strings of the Season concert at Life Bridge Christian Church, an event that has become an annual Christmas tradition. With welcoming James Stinnett and Geoff Britton on board in early 2011, the quartet performed its first pops music concert and released its first Christmas album: A Christmas Collection, which was received very well. In mid 2012, James shared his decision to join the United States Navy, moving with his wife Brittney up to Groton, Connecticut, where he is now stationed. The quartet was then able to welcome Kate Tyree back into the group for the remainder of the 2012 season, playing six weddings in five different towns and performing at more Christmas events. The quartet has also performed at the Olmstead, the Galt House, the Frazier Arts Historical Museum, the 21c hotel, the Owl Creek Country Club, the University of Louisville Medical School, Treyton Oak Towers, the Trinity World Outreach Center, the Friendship House for the elderly, and has been very influential in their collaboration with Fern Creek-Highview United Ministries, performing at events such as the annual Pennies From Heaven Gala in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
The group is available for any events such as weddings, dinners, socials, meetings, fund-raisers, or any event that could use us! Jacob is also open to arranging nearly anything for the quartet, as nearly all of what we play are arrangements that he has put together!

    About the Musicians:

Jacob Head will be starting his ninth semester as a U of L Music School student this fall, a Music Therapy Major. He has been arranging and composing music for concerts and groups since 2008, mostly for The Compass Quartet. He is currently the worship leader at Life Bridge Christian Church, and hopes to continue bringing joy to others through the music he creates. Aside from playing the violin, Jacob also enjoys playing the guitar, bass guitar, piano, mandolin and ukulele. He is a 2009 graduate of Atherton High School in Louisville, Kentucky.

Kate Tyree will also be beginning her ninth semester this fall at U of L, pursuing a Music Education degree. Kate is from Montgomery, Kentucky, having graduated from Montgomery County High School in 2009. In addition to teaching violin lessons and playing in the Compass Quartet, Kate is also the violinist for the bluegrass group Kentucky Kai Five, as well as a jazz bassist on the side.

Geoff Britton currently resides and works in his hometown of Winchester. Despite pursuing a viola Performance Degree at U of L for two years, he has now chosen to pursue life around the Fayette County area. Geoff also takes an interest in comedy, and spends his free time enjoying stand-up acts, whether it is watching them online or bringing his humor to rehearsals with the quartet. Originally from Minnesota, he now lives in Kentucky, a 2010 graduate of Lafayette High School in Lexington.

Lindsey Addison Becker is in her sixth and final year as a University of Louisville Music School student, pursuing a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Music, with a minor in Japanese language. She aspires to someday use her minor to be a translator in Japan , possibly doing the JET Program, where she would be teaching English to Japanese students. She also plays the viola da gamba, a Renaissance instrument that is similar to a cello but has a different technique and tuning. Lindsey is a 2008 graduate of Ballard High School in Louisville.

    Georgie Shaw – Love Letters

    2:37

    Georgie Shaw

Georgie Shaw was an American popular musician, born George Shoester in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated South Philadelphia High School in 1947.

He recorded a song called Let Me Go, Devil, which was about alcoholism. It was later rewritten as Let Me Go, Lover!. Another song that he originally recorded which became a hit later when recorded by another singer was Honeycomb”. He released four Top 40 singles in the U.S. in the 1950s, all on Decca Records. Till We Two Are One was his biggest hit, reaching #7 in 1954. That same year Someone Else's Love Song reached #29. Jimmy Leyden and his orchestra and chorus accompanied Georgie on those two recordings. No Arms Can Ever Hold You (Like These Arms of Mine) hit #23 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1955, and Go On with the Wedding, featuring Kitty Kallen, hit #39 in 1956. Jack Pleis led the orchestra behind the last two recordings.

Georgie Shaw died on September 1, 2006 in Philadelphia due to heart disease

IM SO LONESOME I COULD CRY by Hank Williams

    3:01

One of my favourite Hank Williams songs. Hank recorded this track on 30 August 1949 in Ohio. With him were ace studio musicians: Zeke Turner (electric guitar), Louis Innes (rhythm guitar), Jerry Byrd (steel guitar), Ernie Newton (bass), and Tommy Jackson (fiddle). They were not part of the Drifting Cowboys who toured with Hank at that time (although a couple did do stints with them). The Drifting Cowboys did record with Hank on many other sessions.

According to Colin Escott who wrote a biography on Hank Here is the chill of the void that would become one of the hallmarks of Hank's writing. It is the most oft cited example of Hank Williams the hillbilly poet, but its poetic form comes from the fact that it was originally intended to be spoken, not sung. Acuff-Rose staff writer Vic McAlpin said that Hank had written it for his first session of recitations slated for January 1950, but at some point he changed his mind. I think ol' Hank needs to record this, he told McAlpin. Hank was concerned that some of the lines might sound self-consciously artsy and alienate his audience, but, as he so often did, he tried out the song on friends, fellow performers, and Fred Rose, and let them convince him that he had excelled.

Veteran Nashville songwriter Jimmy Rule recalls: One day I was over at Acuff-Rose, our mutual publisher, and Hank handed me a piece of paper and said, Do you think people will understand what I'm trying to say when I say this? The line was 'Did you ever see a robin weep when leaves begin to die? It's because he's lost the will to live; I'm so lonesome I could cry'. Hank had this lonesome streak, and I think it was largely caused by his marital problems. I think he wrote it out of a feeling of loneliness that stayed very much with him. He would be the natural person to write 'I'm so lonesome I could cry'.

I have done my own slideshow video of this song, using as many images of Hank singing that I could find. Also included a few images of the musicians who played on this session, Jerry Byrd and Tommy Jackson. I hope that people not into Hank might take the time to explore his music.
