  • Peter Green - Fool No More

Peter Green with a most beautiful performance.

Yes, I've packed up my clothes
I'm moving away from your door
Lord, I've packed up my clothes
Said, I'm moving away from your door
I've been your fool for so long
Babe, I won't play that fool no more

I gave you all my money
I work as hard as I can
I came home early one morning
I found you with another man
Babe, I've packed up my clothes
I'm moving away from your door
Said, I've been your fool for so long
And lord, I won't play that fool no more

    So good-bye baby
    You don't even care
Yes, I had a love so strong for you
But you treat me so unfair
Said, I've packed up my clothes
I'm moving away from your door
You know, I've been your fool for so long
And babe, I won't play that fool no more

  • Peter Green - Albatross

Peter Green is universally accepted as one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time. BB King famously said of Peter Green He's the only white guy to ever make me sweat.

Peter Green's troubles since his departure from Fleetwood Mac in the early 70's are well documented. After a number of years in the wilderness he returned in the mid 90's in the guise of the Peter Green Splinter Group and recaptured the magic of his early days. This concert, recorded in England in 2003, is made up of two sets. The first is a pared down acoustic set of predominantly vintage blues finished off by the all-time Fleetwood Mac classic Albatross, one of the most popular instrumentals ever written. The second is a full on rocking electric set combining blues tracks, Splinter Group originals and other Fleetwood Mac classics.

Filmed as part of their 2003 tour, playing to packed houses across the U.K. and Germany, this DVD is the final piece of evidence, if it were ever needed, that Peter Green is back - and back for good.

Peter is captured in full flight on guitar (including some sensational slide work), harmonica and vocals (singing with equal measures of melancholy and mischievousness). Backed superbly by The Splinter Group, Peter and Nigel Watson effortlessly blend old blues classics with new original material and, of course, some great interpretations of Peter's Fleetwood Mac catalog. The two-hour plus show, available on this DVD in 5.1 & DTS surround sound, is split into two sets - the first intimate and acoustic, the second a storming electric blues workout, leaving no doubt that this comeback was well worth the wait!

Split into two halves, this concert from 2003 features former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green and his Splinter Group performing both an acoustic and electric set. After leaving Fleetwood Mac, Green went through a well documented personal decline, but has re-emerged stronger than ever with the able backing of his backing band, Splinter Group. This concert features a stunning rendition of Fleetwood Mac's Albatross, as well as a selection of Splinter Group originals, and other covers.

  • The Supernatural - Peter Green with The Splinter Group

This is a clip from a concert shown on German TV in 1998.
Even after all he has gone through, Peter Green still has magic in his fingers.
The piece was written by Peter and first recorded while with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in the sixties. The original recording of this groundbreaking instrumental can be found on the album A Hard Road.
If you're new to Peter Green, and you like what you hear on this track, I suggest you listen to all of his work with the band Fleetwood Mac, which he founded in 1967 and stayed with until 1970. During this period they played some of the best British blues and blues rock ever recorded.
But Peter Green is not only a unique guitarist and an accomplished songwriter (with songs such as Black Magic Woman to his credit), in those days he was also an outstanding vocalist - just listen to tracks like Stop Messin' Round or, in an entirely different vein, Man Of The World.

Nigel Watson does most of the guitar work on this piece, and makes an excellent job of it, while Peter adds the harmony.
It would be interesting to know who played what on the original recording by Fleetwood Mac.
Is Nigel Watson simply playing Danny Kirwan's part?

THIS IS HOW TO DRIVE AN AMPLIFIER!! Just a KILLER live cover of the B.B. King classic by Fleetwood Mac featuring Peter Green from The Warehouse, New Orleans, LA
01/31/70. Classic slow minor blues with incredible feel with G minor key-centered solo. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT.

Sean Nielsen says An insane cover of B.B. King's All Over Again. Unfortunately, this track is only found on a boot and the quality leaves a little to be desired. This, to me, is the most emotive and raw solo of the early 70s. The solo kicks of at 2:22

Fleetwood Mac - Man of the world 1969

Shall I tell you about my life
They say I'm a man of the world
    I've flown across every tide
And I've seen lots of pretty girls

    I guess I've got everything I need
    I would't ask for more
And there's no one I'd rather be
But I just wish that I'd never been born

And I need a good woman
to make me feel like a good man should
    I don't say I'm a good man
Oh, but I would be if I could

I could tell you about my life
And keep you amused I'm sure
About all the times I've cried
And how I don't want to be sad anymore
And how I wish I was in love

  • Wildwood Story Time • The Beauty of the Out of Phase Peter Green Tone

It's time to take a pause from the cause to talk about a very special and inspiring limited run of guitars that passed through -- the Gibson Custom Shop 2018 Limited 1959 Les Paul Standard – Brazilian Rosewood. What's so special about this guitar? Read the description below to full details, but the thing that truly makes this guitar special is the iconic association with the guitar's unique wiring configuration -- one who's middle toggle-switch position puts the guitar out of phase. Some argue that this tone is unusable, but Greg would like to respectively disagree. Peter Green / Fleetwood Mac anyone?

The best word for the bridge pickup is muscular. It does the classic rick Les Paul tone, but it sounds more like a 245-pound linebacker with 4% body fat than a 350-pound offensive tackle. No flub, no ugly muddy frequencies, just pure vintage Gibson tone on steroids. You can also hear that classic vintage-style PAF rasp in the upper-midrange. So, maybe it's more like a 245-pound linebacker that smokes two packs a day charging towards your ear drums to perform a mighty rock and roll tackle!

The neck pickup is deep and clear, with vintage-style bass response to go with broad, woody midrange and clear, transparent trebles. It's the sort of neck position sound that has inspired countless soulful, smooth, solos and thick, juicy rhythm parts on our favorite records. While it is tempting to try and play a bunch of classic rock riffs with it because it matches the sound so exactly, it's much more likely to inspire you to strike out on your own and write a new classic.

The middle position is out-of-phase because of the way the neck pickup is wired, and it sounds like a mad scientist's experiment gone horribly right. Imagine a terrifying Stratocaster/Les Paul hybrid sewn together by a doctor with questionable ethics roaming the countryside terrorizing the town folk and you'll get a rough idea of its awesome power.

This Les Paul is a monster in every sense of the word, and we know that some lucky Gibson aficionado will find its otherworldly tone endlessly inspiring.
