NEW PVD SINGLE ARRIVING JULY 27 //
‘GUIDING LIGHT’ ALBUM RELEASE ALSO CONFIRMED FOR AUGUST 28

Let’s recap… because a whole lot’s happened in a relatively short space. Heralded by three clubfloor-natured singles, ‘Guiding Light’ - the tenth album collection from legendary electronic musician Paul van Dyk - was primed for release back in April. Then the proverbial wrench went into the world’s works and ‘Guiding Light’s release – along with most everything else – needed to be rethought. The music gods were still smiling however, allowing PvD the time to complete - and a fitting setting to release - his ‘Escape Reality’ chillout project, which parachuted into ‘Guiding Light’s release spot.

Now, feeling a fresh purpose for it, Paul sensed the time was right to take ‘Guiding Light’s cause off pause, paving the way for its ultimate release. As such, VANDIT Records are delighted to confirm a late summer date for the album, with the 14-track collection now arriving to stores & streaming platforms on August 28.

On the move, Paul commented: “‘the circumstances in which we danced so far this year have been different, but crucially we never stopped dancing. ‘Guiding Light’s message was always about showing us a way through and I don’t believe there’ll ever be a greater need for that than now. The album’s singles have shown their power to spiritually uplift – as much off the floors as on, so it’s time to let the rest of its music to do the same.”
The album’s next vanguard single will arrive July 27 and it’s one that – in context - could hardly be a more appropriate. ‘Guiding Light’s title track is a collaboration with a singer whose voice has graced more PvD productions than any other. Set against Paul’s midtempo, melodically draped studio work, Sue McLaren moves effortlessly between the ethereally drifting and emotionally earthmoving, contrasting the heartbreak evocation of her voice with the song’s beacon of hope message. From today, ‘Guiding Light’ is ready to take you “through the eye of every storm” and onwards to “illuminate the skies” (

‘Guiding Light’s album-namesake is available to pre-save/order now, here ( PvD is set to live-premiere further tracks from it at Gem Fest in Zakynthos over the weekend of 7/8/9 August and. In the run up to its release, new music will also be unveiled through his Sunday Session broadcast stream and VONYC Sessions radio show.

Paul van Dyk - 'The Sun After Heartbreak' feat. Sue McLaren & Arty

Relative to some of the other tracks on the album, 'The Sun After Heartbreak' took quite a long time to produce. Arty and I went into the composing phase on it and basically came up with something that was very straight, beats at 132bpm, with a kind of progressive house lean to it. As we got further into it, I started to see that if could work better as something much more 'lifty' and at that point we changed its direction and put a lot more momentum and drive behind it. So with the tempo rise, we began to test the drum&bass elements and felt that those really popped too. From its initial start point to where it is now, its pretty much changed out of all recognition.

Sue, I think, is one of the best new vocalists to come along in the intervening time between 'Evolution' and 'In Between'. I just really, really love her voice. I'd been working with her on a different track, but one that was in the same key and one day I had this flash of inspiration, tried them together, and the synergy that was happening between them became really compelling.

The vocal itself was one of the most extensive, intricate vocal productions I've ever worked on, too. It was done, I think, over close to 50 channels on the mixing desk. When you listen to it closely, every element of it is chopped up and broken down into tiny little pieces, so that every little 'hoooh' and 'hah' could be spaced out to enhance the feel of the track and give it that really warm, close effect.

Paul van Dyk 'THE SUN AFTER HEARTBREAK' ft. Arty and Sue McLaren
    From the album EVOLUTION

It's the start of a new day
    But everything feels over
Your sky a shade of grey
    Longing for some colour

If you ever see the sun after heartbreak
    Lift your head up
    Take a breath in, oh
Though your heart may come undone
    A change is coming
    Just remember it's not over

    Just remember
As the sun shines on your skin
    Let it sink in
    Just remember it's not over

It's the start of a new day
    Weight is on your shoulders
You can wipe those tears away
    As sunlight washes over

If you ever see the sun
    Lift your head up
    Take a breath in, oh
Though your heart may come undone
    Just remember it's not over

If you ever see the sun after heartbreak
    Just remember it's not over

Paul van Dyk feat. Sue McLaren - Lights
    Remixed by Giuseppe Ottaviani

Following (per MIXMAG) the “captivating” long-player’s release in May, ‘Lights’ established itself as a frontrunner favourite with PvD devotees and its single release (Paul states) is “simply my response to their response!”

The single’s release is completed with a trance translation from Giuseppe Ottaviani, Wee-O’s irrepressibly uplifting, festival-minded rework, a housier creation from bright-young-thing Owen Westlake and an enigmatic, ether-steeped official vid from US features director/producer, Adam Mason.
Having previously cast her spell over ‘EVOLUTION’s live-show fave ‘We Come Together’ and more recently ‘POD3’s Aly & Fila co-op ‘Guardian’, singer/songwriter/regular PvD muse Sue McLaren returns to vocal duties. Through enigmatic, oblique lyrics and the track’s bittersweet vocals, she brings ‘Lights’ her singularly expressive touch.

In its Original Mix form, Paul takes it down a cooler, more subliminal production path. Reflecting that, the UK-based singer lends it a wholly entrancing vocal performance - one that DJ Mag UK said (in an advance 8/10 review) “could be Sue McLaren’s best yet”.

Remixes come from long time van Dyk studio confident (and ‘POD3’ collaborator) Giuseppe Ottaviani, who, through floor empowering trance, drives ‘Lights’ later into the night. Having already excelled on his ‘Only In A Dream’ rewire, and with remix credits for Tiësto and others to his name, Owen Westlake has deeper, housier designs for the release. Finding middle-ground between the two, Berliner Wee-O’s summer summarising remake has ‘outdoor’ stamped all over it and brings ‘Lights’ its utopic festival moment.

Having brought psychological thriller features including ‘The Devil’s Chair’, ‘Broken’ and ‘Prey’ to the screen, UK-born/US-based director Adam Mason is the man behind ‘Lights’ visual dimension. Setting it amongst a clandestine night society (and raising just as many questions as to ‘Lights’ mysterious meanings as it answers!), you can view it now on Paul van Dyk's YouTube channel.

  • Giuseppe Ottaviani - Miracle

    5:05

    Get it here:

As any Spanish native will tell you, ‘alma’ means ‘soul’. And it’s from that exact place that Giuseppe Ottaviani’s new studio album originates. Marking a departure in part from the high-octane, exclusively primetime sound with which he made his name, it sees him cast his soundnet wider… and markedly deeper.

With only weeks to go before its September 30 release, today the producer reveals the full partner list for his third longplayer. Through it, Giuseppe gives the clearest of indicators as to how ALMA will sound in its end-to-end entirety. After announcing last month that Paul van Dyk, Kyler England & Christian Burns would feature, today sees Sue McLaren, Eric Lumiere, Jennifer Rene, Tricia McTeague and others join ALMA’s studio cast.

With DJ Mag hinting at “a more multifarious album”, Dancing Astronaut stating that it “features personal pieces” and MIXMAG bestowing it with October Album of the Month honours, ALMA looks set to go places few – if any - longplayers have stepped before.

ALMA embarks with Brightheart, its just-released second single. A collaboration between Giuseppe & Christian Burns, it sees the English singer bring a new level high in meaningful songwriting and emotional infiltration. Building on that, newcomer Tim Hilberts impresses endlessly with On The Way You Go’s wistful, delivery and beyond-his-years lyric writing. A little further in, Eric Lumiere (who’s Love Will Bring It All Around kicked off ‘Magenta’s 2014 campaign) wows all over again with Burn Bright.

The female voice naturally plays an equally significant part in ALMA’s make-up. Firefly, sung by Kyler England (whose previous credits include work with Tiësto, Myon & Shane 54, First State and others), comes laden with esoteric metaphor and implied meaning. Marking the first of two appearances throughout its runtime, Sue McLaren lends a prophetic significance to the lyrics of Wait Till You Miss Me. With Giuseppe previously having worked with Paul van Dyk on tracks for two of the legend’s albums, on ALMA, PvD replies in kind. Through her song, Sue seeds cellular level emotion into the pair’s latest team-up, Miracle. Having previously worked with high-calibre producers like Nile Rodgers and Narada Michael Walden, Tricia McTeague stirs ALMA’s tone deeper again with the irresistibly lament-tinged Loneliest Night. After last year’s Beatport #3 smash Lean On Me, Jennifer Rene and Giuseppe brilliantly reteam with the album’s closeout swansong, Home.

Shedding more light on the origins of the album and its title, Giuseppe says: “ALMA is the most introspective album I’ve ever recorded. It comes from somewhere deep inside and draws on memories from my childhood - times when I was not listening to one, but many types of music.

With its variety, ALMA aims to bring the essence of a child’s spirit into my adult self - carrying the same enthusiasm and emotions as those I grew up. And so, as children are the future of this world, I dedicate this album to my own two. The title ALMA is an amalgamation of the first two letters of ALessandro & MAtteo’s names.”

On its instrumental numbers, ALMA audaciously ventures onto some wholly unexplored trance ground. It’s vanguard single Slow Emotion is a fascinating concept piece, which (per the UK’s DJ Mag) is an “upliftingly riffed, blood-pumping trancer, played out at 110bpm”. Slow Emotion 2 - it’s album-exclusive spiritual twin, expands on the theme, potently factoring 303 and an electrifying new mainline into its equation. Running at a similar tempo, but with more of an afterhours feel, the album’s midpoint is scored by the lucently aquiline Primavera (or ‘Spring’ in the artist’s native Italian). The album’s title track gearshifts from its cruising, pulsating opening to Alma’s sonically tubular, poleaxing conclusion, while Ozone’ thumps proceedings up further, playing with analogue sound styles and infectious piano lines. Likewise framed in 80s-styled synthery (& feel) is the dramatically drummed ‘Countdown’, whilst marking the album’s highest trance elevation, Aurora brings it spirited, hymnal harmonies.

An album for those in need of music with more meaning, greater penetration and a longer lasting ‘listen-life’, the soul-filled ALMA will satisfy this autumn… and for many a year to come.

No leaks, no advance word, scarcely a teaser clip in sight and – better yet - no ages-away release date…
    BOOM! It’s landed!!

From Today, you can get first look & listen to what Paul van Dyk’s been up to studio-side, since production wrapped on ‘The Politics of Dancing 3’.

His ‘first-material-since’, it sees PvD reteam with vocalist-muse, Sue McLaren for something that’s ‘Together Again’ in both name and nature. A spiritual successor to ‘We Come Together’ - their first shared anthem, it joins the honour roll of esteemed co-productions, that also includes ‘Guardian’ and most recently, ‘Lights’.

‘Together Again’ drops out of the clear blue sky, and straight onto clubfloors from today!
Alongside Paul at the production’s wheelhouse, is Iranian studio-head, Farhad Mahdavi. Over the last 5 years, he has developed a prolific oeuvre of melodic, trance-edged outings, and ones that have been catching Paul’s ear with ever-greater regularity.

Through a wellspring of elements, they gift ‘Together Again’ its glorious melodic-through-euphoric arc. Sue meanwhile brings her vocal seraphim to the track, accented by poignant inflexion and message-laden lyrics every bit as esoteric as they are soul searing.
An incredible new chapter in their shared musical history, ‘Together Again’ is available from all good download stores today.

As one of the most cutting-edge and enduringly innovative labels of the electronic music generation, VANDIT Records stays true to its philosophy ‘No Art Without Artists’. At the start of the 2000s VANDIT made immediate waves releasing a string of now established club classics like Nu-NRG’s ‘Dreamland’, The Thrillseekers’ ‘Synaesthesia’ and Jose Amnesia’s ‘The Eternal’ to name just a few. With an artist talent pool of established names, such as Judge Jules, Alex M.O.R.P.H and founder Paul van Dyk himself as well as lots of gifted younger blood names they keep on bringing high-quality electronic music into the scene.

    Pre-order (R)Evolution : The Remixes now! -

Last year, through his sixth artist album, electronic music legend Paul van Dyk changed up perceptions of the PvD sound, wholesale. Over the course of 2012, 'EVOLUTION's multiverse tracklist spawned five single sales-chart smashes, an epic, globe-circling 150+ date tour, sustained fan & press veneration and an ever-widening stylistic scope of DJ support.

Now that 'the originals' have been established, the time has come to let the remixers speak as Paul's evolution becomes an out-and-out revolution! Handpicked by the man himself - from the ready-to-break to the firmly established - the remix gathering has assembled. Let the reworks begin!

Naturally, the original versions of EVOLUTION's tracks were my visions. To-date, the singles have brought some wonderful, creative remixes with them -- ones that blew me away when I heard them and which I played in-club and on the radio throughout 2012. They were the seeds for this album; now is the right time to push the boundaries of 'EVOLUTION' even further.
-- Paul van Dyk, Berlin, January 2013

Comprising 17 fresh-off-the-desk reworks from a full company of van Dyk's fellow production studionauts, this is where evolution ends and full-scale revolution breaks out.

Sowing the uprising's first seeds is the production brotherhood of Woody van Eyden and Alex M.O.R.P.H., who are respectively tasked with retakes of 'Sun After Heartbreak' and 'Such A Feeling' (aka 'Verano'). Drawing on a wealth of nirvana harmonics, thermal synths and Sue McLaren's and Elijah King's vocal talents, they reposition PvD's original versions in an entirely new light... and time of the night.

Opening the tempo & tone throttle that little bit wider, musical mutineers Kyau & Albert, Maarten De Jong and John O'Callaghan zoom-in on additional peak-time aspects. Their radical interpretations of 'Open My Eyes', 'Symmetries' and 'I Don't Deserve You' levy drums, percussion and distortion that are altogether more floor-atomic in nature.

The popularity and musical latitude of 'I Don't Deserve You' emphasize this Plumb-vocalled peach with two further reconfigurations. Having already been voted one of the 15 biggest trancers of the year on Armin van Buuren's ASOT radio show, 'Deserve' gets some house flavour into her system. Dubbing up the vocal, Gabriel Ben lets the hats hiss, the percs ride and the rhythms flow on his mix. Meanwhile, another American producer WAWA rolls one big piano moment in after another, inciting ravenous uplift and fanning '(R)Evolution's flames even further.

Taking things momentarily deeper and more-subversively progressive, the Directors Cut mix seizes on 'Love Ammunition's lyrical metaphor. Michelle Leonard's vocals scorch the room, underpinning a potent groove and sure-shot drop. The album stays with her redolent tones as Giuseppe Ottaviani takes control of 'Lost In Berlin', building it up into a mainline titan.

With PvD's full backing, other remix-revolutionaries are given free reign to take the music where they see fit. Pedro del Mar & Double V rock up a storm on the Sue McLaren-vocalled and Arty-coproduced 'The Sun After The Heartbreak'. Elsewhere, youngblood Uzbek producer Exense masterminds the 'Rock This' rebuild. He tactically whips it into a powder-keg progressive piece, holding back the pitch-bending synths and rousing a titular shout to the break's final precipice. Elsewhere, audio guerrillas like Niels von Ahorn, Robert Mint, Nick Callaghan & Will Atkinson and others perform coup after coup with eclectic, thrilling reworks that build into the consummate 'EVOLUTION' revision.

2014 marked the year international electronic musician PAUL VAN DYK returned to the singles realm with “Come With Me (We Are One),” a collaboration between the electronic music overlord and Turkish/Dutch wonderkind Ummet Ozcan, “Only In A Dream” with Jessus & Ahdam Ashraf featuring Tricia McTeague and “Guardian” with Aly & Fila featuring Sue McLaren--three fiercely infectious pieces of floor-propelling electronic music. Over late December/early January 2015, the original mix of “Guardian” roared across floors, claiming the #2 spot on Beatport’s trance chart in the process. Now the track has been remixed for Guardian (The Remixes), a four-track EP that will be made available on February 10 on Ultra Music. Pre-order is available now at: smarturl.it/GuardianRMXs

Along with the release of the Guardian (The Remixes) EP, PAUL VAN DYK will return to the U.S. for a short support tour launching tomorrow, February 6 in San Francisco. Other stops planned for February include Seattle, San Antonio, Dallas, New York, San Diego and Los Angeles. PvD will also return to Miami to appear at the Ultra Music Conference in March. The full routing follows below.

“Guardian” brings together PvD, Aly & Fila, three producers long celebrated for wowing the clubbing lands with their height-of-the-night productions. For the remix EP, the trio’s Sunrise and Sunset mixes drop some expectation-subverting versions into “Guardian”’s equation. Unexpected, different, surprising even, their more recumbent tones, dovetailed to Sue McLaren’s sweetly sung vocals and bittersweet lyrics, mass to take music lovers to places they may never wish to return from. For his mix, Goodgreef’s Jordan Suckley goes pole-to-pole delivering a rework that seismically blasts “Guardian” through to the heart of 6am. Tough, on an almost cellular level, Suckley’s thunderous remap will thoroughly test the mettle of your club’s speakers. Then Pedro Del Mar & R.I.B take the track on a chilled ride to the lounge side. Linking the circle back to the Sunrise and Sunset mixes, the two deliver a richly produced, brilliantly structured revision perfect for the ride home after a long night of revelry.

Tracklist for the Guardian (The Remixes) EP is:

    01: Guardian (Sunrise Mix)
    02: Guardian (Sunset Mix)
    03: Guardian (Jordan Suckley Remix)
04: Guardian (Pedro Del Mar & R.I.B Chillout Mix)

Paul van Dyk - 'We Come Together' feat. Sue McLaren

For me the unification of people on the dancefloor is one of the most encouraging factors throughout my career to date. What I wanted to achieve from this track was to again try and capture that spirit. Electronic music has been bringing people together for 25 years now and I think its done it more effectively than any other music movement in modern history. The fact that it draws people together from all different backgrounds, religions and citizenships, whilst marginalizing negative attitudes and violence is wonderful. It's one of the most underrated, overlooked aspects of the genre and yet it happens every week in every EDM-speaking town and city in the world.

I spoke to Sue about this and she said 'no problem, I have an idea for this'. I gave her a backing track, which had quite melodic trance tone to it and she quite quickly came back with a draft vocal from it. I loved it - thought it encapsulated what we were talking about perfectly, but with her very sweet, very angelic vocal, it was all a bit too, too beautiful. So I worked on something a bit rougher, more pounding with a bit of electro .

edge and a kind of techno jangle to one of its minor melodies. I think I was pretty decided that I wanted to take this far out of any trance 'comfort zone'.

Paul van Dyk WE COME TOGETHER' ft. Sue McLaren
    From the album EVOLUTION

    It begins a single road
    Up ahead are many turns
    Every corner brings me hope
Every mile you live and learn

    Many paths are crossing over
    Passengers along the way
When a spark meets other forces
    Come together makes a flame

    Side by side
    Strong as stone
    We all walk on together
    Side by side
    Unite as one
    We are one voice together

    United we stand
    Divided, we won't fall
And when we get the call
    We come together

    Repeat CHORUS

    Side by side
    Strong as stone
    On and on

    Side by side
    Strong as stone
    On and on

In a first time production link-up, Paul van Dyk has collaborated with those trance pharaohs Aly & Fila - reteaming in the process with vocal doyen and regular muse Sue McLaren for the magnificent, astounding ‘Guardian’.

On ‘Guardian’, Sue McLaren’s sweetly sung vocals contrast with the bittersweet nature of her meditative lyrics. At its production core Paul, Aly and Fila fuse the track with a harmonic sound storm of pads, chords and synths. Cumulatively, the track’s pacific undertones and vocal enrichment amass to take clubbers & music lovers to places they may never wish to return from!

Paul van Dyk - Sun After Heartbreak - feat. Sue McLaren & Arty (Pedro Del Mar & DoubleV Remix)

    Pre-order (R)Evolution : The Remixes now!

Paul van Dyk feat. Sue McLaren - Lights
    Remixed by Owen Westlake

    Lyrics:
    Shadows surround you
Where’s the smile I long to see back on your face
    What am I to do
In the end I only want to know you’re safe
    So precious to lose
Impossible to hold when you are worlds away
    A thousand thoughts of you
Who’ll protect you when the thunder rains
Maybe they’ll keep an eye on earth
Promise you’ll never will be hurt
Maybe they’ll keep an eye on earth
Promise you’ll never will be hurt

    Lyrics:
It's the start of a new day
    but everything feels over
the sky a shade of grey
    drowning for some color

If you ever seen the sun
    after heartbreak
    lift your head up
    take a breath and hold
though your heart may come undone
    a change is coming
    just remember
