    Lyrics:
    When you're weary
    Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
    I will dry them all

    I'm on your side
    When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
    I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
    I will lay me down

    When you're down and out
    When you're on the street
    When evening falls so hard
    I will comfort you
    I'll take your part
    When darkness comes
    And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
    I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
    I will lay me down

    Sail on Silver Girl,
    Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

    See how they shine
    If you need a friend
    I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
    I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
    I will ease your mind

  • Art Garfunkel talks about Paul Simon, reads the poem The Funeral, May 12, 2019

    5:01

Art Garfunkel reads from his poem The Funeral about his long friendship with Paul Simon, and who will speak at whose funeral. He stops before finishing the poem, transitioning to a story about the next song in the set, which was Homeward Bound. My apologies, but I only got two thirds of the song--my camera cuts off 4K videos at 5 minutes sharp--but I figured it'd be better to include some of the song rather than none. Recorded at the Uptown Theatre in Napa, California on May 12, 2019 during Garfunkel's Close-Up Tour.

    ==========================================
Who Will Speak At Whose Funeral?

When I said: You’ll outlast me, you live more carefully.”
He said: “Write out what you want.”
Okay, it’s hard to say I knew him well,
    He was enigmatic to himself.
Which of us was more aware?
    Which the elder?
    I was born November fifth.
He on October thirteenth – a few weeks premature, you following me?
He was born three weeks before me, my dear,
But he was a premature baby.
Were we both conceived at the same instant?
February 5th 1941, the dead middle of winter,
In the heart of World War Two
Was I born at the right time?
For seventy years his arm has been around my shoulder.
    He’s dazzled me with gifts.
I nurtured him in his youth.
    He brought me into prominence.
    I taught him to sing.
He connected my voice to the world.
    I made him tall.
All of our personal belongings are intertwined.
We say it’s exhausting to compete,
But we shine for each other.
    It’s still our favorite game.
It goes on, this embrace, whether I speak for him, or he for me.
    Love ruled our lives.
    It rules the mourners,
    And the winner of longevity.

The Sound of Silence, by Simon & Garfunkel - Live HQ
    Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel
    :

The Sound of Silence is the song that propelled the 1960s folk music duo Simon & Garfunkel to popularity. It was written in February 1964 by Paul Simon in the aftermath of the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy. An initial version preferred by the band was remixed and sweetened, and has become known as the quintessential folk rock release. In the U.S., it was the duo's second most popular hit after Bridge Over Troubled Water.

In 1999, BMI named The Sound of Silence as the 18th-most performed song of the 20th century. In 2004, it was ranked #156 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, one of the duo's three songs on the list.

    Devoted To You lyrics:

Darlin' you can count on me
Till the sun dries up the sea
Until then I'll always be devoted to you

I'll be yours through endless time
    I'll adore your charms sublime
Guess by now you know that I'm devoted to you

I'll never hurt you, I'll never lie
    I'll never be untrue
I'll never give you reason to cry
I'd be unhappy if you were blue

Through the years my love will grow
Like a river it will flow
It can't die because I'm so devoted to you

I'll never hurt you, I'll never lie
    I'll never be untrue
I'll never give you reason to cry
I'd be unhappy if you were blue

Through the years my love will grow
Like a river it will flow
It can't die because I'm so devoted to you

Simon & Garfunkel - OLD HITS (FULL ALBUM)
    Download on Google Play:

Simon & Garfunkel were an American folk rock duo consisting of singer-songwriter Paul Simon and singer Art Garfunkel. They were one of the best-selling music groups of the 1960s and became counterculture icons of the decade's social revolution, alongside artists such as the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and Bob Dylan. Their biggest hits—including The Sound of Silence (1964), Mrs. Robinson (1968), The Boxer (1969), and Bridge over Troubled Water (1970)—reached number one on singles charts worldwide. Their often rocky relationship led to artistic disagreements, which resulted in their breakup in 1970. Their final studio record, Bridge over Troubled Water (released in January of that year), was their most successful, becoming one of the world's best-selling albums. Since their split in 1970 they have reunited several times, most famously in 1981 for, The Concert in Central Park, which attracted more than 500,000 people, the seventh-largest concert attendance in history. The duo met as children in Queens, New York, in 1953, where they learned to harmonize together and began writing original material. By 1957, under the name Tom & Jerry, the teenagers had their first minor success with Hey Schoolgirl, a song imitating their idols The Everly Brothers. Afterwards, the duo went their separate ways, with Simon making unsuccessful solo records. In 1963, aware of a growing public interest in folk music, they regrouped and were signed to Columbia Records as Simon & Garfunkel. Their début, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M., sold poorly, and they once again disbanded; Simon returned to a solo career, this time in England. In June 1965, their song The Sound of Silence was overdubbed, adding electric guitar and a drumkit to the original 1964 recording. This later version became a major U.S. AM radio hit in 1965, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100. They reunited, releasing their second studio album Sounds of Silence and touring colleges nationwide. On their third release, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme (1966), the duo assumed more creative control. Their music was featured in the 1967 film The Graduate, giving them further exposure. Bookends (1968), their next album, topped the Billboard 200 chart and included the number-one single Mrs. Robinson from the film. After their 1970 breakup following the release of Bridge over Troubled Water, they both continued recording, Simon releasing a number of highly acclaimed albums, including 1986's Graceland. Garfunkel also briefly pursued an acting career, with leading roles in two Mike Nichols films, Catch-22 and Carnal Knowledge, and in Nicolas Roeg's 1980 Bad Timing, as well as releasing some solo hits such as All I Know. Simon & Garfunkel won 10 Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, and their Bridge over Troubled Water album was nominated at the 1977 Brit Awards for Best International Album. It is ranked at number 51 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Richie Unterberger described them as the most successful folk-rock duo of the 1960s and one of the most popular artists from the decade in general.

    13:19

Art Garfunkel performs 1979 UK #1 solo hit Bright Eyes followed by Simon & Garfunkel's sixties folk rock classics The Sound Of Silence (03:21), Kathy's Song (06:14) and title track from 1970 Bridge Over Troubled Water album (09:48). Sounds Of Silence 1966 album title track and Kathy's Song were written by Paul Simon. Art Garfunkel, long-time musical partner Tab Laven on Martin acoustic guitar and legendary keyboardist Clifford Carter were live in concert at the Wiltern Theater, Los Angeles, CA November 8, 2015.

The possibility of Paul Simon playing again with Art Garfunkel hovered over Simon's solo tour Birmingham show in May 2016, when Simon presented a couple of Simon & Garfunkel classics -- The Boxer and The Sound of Silence -- during the encores. Time marches on, however, and Simon owns these songs, even without the pure, angelic harmonies from his former partner.

  • √♥ Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel √ Scarborough Fair / Canticle √ Lyrics

    3:12

Created by Dimitris Tsaganos - Artists: Simon & Garfunkel -

Scarborough Fair is a traditional ballad of G.Britain. It relates the tale of a young man who instructs the listener to tell his former love to perform for him a series of impossible tasks, in order to take her back. Often it's sung as a duet, with the woman giving her lover a series of equally impossible tasks. Many suggestions concerning the plot have been proposed, including the hypothesis that it's about the Great Plague of the Middle Ages. The lyrics appear to have something in common with an obscure Scottish ballad, The Elfin Knight, traced in 1670, in which an elf threatens to abduct a young woman to be his lover unless she performs an impossible task. She responds with a list of tasks that he must first perform. The melody is very typical of the middle English period. As the song spread, dozens of versions existed by the end of the 18th century. The references to the traditional English fair, Scarborough Fair and the refrain parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme date to 19th century versions.

Paul Simon learned the song in London in 1965 from Martin Carthy, a British folk singer/guitarist. Art Garfunkel then set it in counterpoint with Canticle, a reworking of Simon's song The Side of a Hill with new, anti-war lyrics.

Simon & Garfunkel were an American music duo of singer-songwriter Paul Simon and singer Art Garfunkel. They formed the group Tom & Jerry in 1957 and had their first success with the hit Hey, Schoolgirl. They are well known for their vocal harmonies and were among the most popular recording artists of the 1960s. Their rocky relationship led to their last album Bridge over Troubled Water, being delayed several times due to artistic disagreements, and as a result the duo broke up in 1970...

    Scarborough Fair

Are you going to Scarborough Fair
    Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine

Tell her to make me a cambric shirt
(On the side of a hill in the deep forest green)
    Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
(Tracing of sparrow on snow crested ground)
Without no seams nor needle work
(Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call)

Tell her to find me an acre of land
(On the side of a hill a sprinkling of leaves)
    Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
(Washes the grave with silvery tears)
Between the salt water and the sea strands
(A soldier cleans and polishes a gun)
Then she'll be a true love of mine

Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather
(War bellows blazing in scarlet battalions)
    Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
(Generals order their soldiers to kill)
And gather it all in a bunch of heather
(And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten)
Then she'll be a true love of mine

Are you going to Scarborough Fair
    Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine...

    Don't talk of love,
Well i've herad the word before.
    It's sleeping in my mermory;
And I won't disturb the slumber
    Of feelings that I've died.
if i never loved, I never would ahve cried.
I am a rock. I am an island.
