Montserrat Hey Jude - Live Paul McCartney, Elton John, Clapton, Sting, Knopfler, Phil Collins

    6:37

Music For Montserrat was a concert held on September 15, 1997 at the Royal Albert Hall. Musicians came together to raise funds for the Caribbean island of Montserrat after a major volcanic eruption earlier that year had left the island devastated. The concert starred musicians such as Phil Collins, Ray Cooper, Carl Perkins, Jimmy Buffett, Mark Knopfler, Sting, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Midge Ure, Arrow and many more, all of whom had once recorded at the island's famous AIR Studios.

The concert was arranged and produced by George Martin, with proceeds from the show evening, DVD and CD, used for immediate relief and also helping fund the building of a new cultural center in Montserrat. On completion in 2006, George Martin gifted the centre to the islanders.

For Carl Perkins this was his last major live performance as he died just over four months later on January 19, 1998

Paul McCartney & Bruce Springsteen - I Saw Her Standing There & Twist And Shout

    9:39

Hard Rock Calling 2012 (Hyde Park, London)

Bruce Springsteen was joined onstage by Paul McCartney as he brought the second night of Hard Rock Calling to a close, but their set was cut shot when organisers turned off their microphones after they broke the venue's sound curfew. McCartney joined Springsteen onstage for I Saw Her Standing There and Twist And Shout, the final songs in Springsteen's 29-song set, which lasted three and a quarter hours in total. But organisers pulled the plug on the encore while The Boss and Macca were trying to address the crowd, rendering them inaudible, to the disbelief of the audience.

Bruce Springsteen said he was amazed when concert bosses pulled the plug on his performance with Paul McCartney: I wasn't aware the plug had been pulled, and people couldn't hear what I was singing. Afterwards I said to Paul, 'I can understand them pulling the plug on me, but you? Aren't you a knight?'

Paul McCartney remembers: Bruce, sort of, got in touch and said, 'Do you wanna get up? We'd like you to get up'. I said, 'Well, I don't know, I'll just come along to the show', so we're in the side of the show in the wings, and he says 'Are you gonna get up, man?', I said 'I don't know, maybe'. Then his roadie says 'I've got a bass for you, I've got a guitar, it's all tuned, it's ready to go'. I go 'Oh, you're REALLY ready!'. So they're all really ready to go, so, what have they rehearsed? He said 'Twist And Shout' and 'I Saw Her Standing There'. So at last minute, I sort of have to say, 'Yeah, I'll do it', so I go on, and it's great, they really have rehearsed it, and I'm the only one who sort of doesn't know it, even though I wrote the bloody thing. So then they go to 'Twist And Shout', and I'm singing it, and someone had whispered 'We haven't got any time, we can't do it', but it was so nice, Bruce is going 'Yeah, come on, man' and Bruce is you know, he's a do-er, a go-getter, so I was happy. 'Yeah!'. We're rocking away, all our monitors stayed on, so we weren't really aware that the plug had been pulled on the audience, that you see on the youtube later, it's all gone dead. And he is singing, he's gonna then go back and sing ' Good Night Irene', which I think was all dead, but we had a laugh again. You've gotta have a laugh, it would just be so terrifying if you didn't, so we just had a laugh afterwards, I was just apologetic like 'I'm sorry, man, only in Britain!'. It's the only place... You can't imagine in New York somewhere like that, them pulling the plug, and it got everyone of course, so that was the big story. Everyone in America was going to me 'Is it true, man? They pulled the plug on you and Springsteen?!', and I'm saying 'Yeah, well, you know, just some guy. Some bloody jobsworth...'

George Harrison - Concert for George: Isnt It A Pity - Happy Birthday George!

    6:25

    Happy 75th Birthday George!

Join us in celebrating what would have been George’s 75th Birthday today by watching this special performance of one of George’s loveliest songs, Isn’t It A Pity, here performed by his friends Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, Jeff Lynne and many more, at the Concert for George in 2002.

CONCERT FOR GEORGE is available now on Vinyl, CD/DVD, CD/Blu-ray, 2-CD and Digital:

On November 29, 2002, one year after the passing of George Harrison, Olivia Harrison and longtime friend Eric Clapton organized a performance tribute in his honor. Held at London's Royal Albert Hall, the momentous evening featured George's songs, and music he loved, performed by a lineup that included Clapton, Joe Brown, Dhani Harrison, Jools Holland, Jeff Lynne, Paul McCartney, Monty Python, Tom Petty, Billy Preston, Ravi and Anoushka Shankar, Ringo Starr and many more. Jeff Lynne, Harrison’s longtime friend and collaborator, produced the audio elements of the concert, while Eric Clapton oversaw the entire proceedings as Musical Director.

CONCERT FOR GEORGE captures stunning renditions of some of the most significant music of the 20th century, including “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” (featuring Clapton on guitar, McCartney on piano and Starr on drums), “Taxman” (performed by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and “The Inner Light” (covered by Jeff Lynne and Anoushka Shankar).

This 4-LP box set includes the complete sound recordings from CONCERT FOR GEORGE, on 180-gram audiophile vinyl, featuring a special, mandala-design etched on side-8. This is the first time that all songs from the performance have been available on an audio configuration. The set also features a 12” x 12” booklet with documenting the event, as well as liner notes by Paul Theroux.

The first 1982 Gala revived a spark that had been fired by George Harrison's Concert for Bangladesh in 1971, and turned it into a blazing modern tradition. This tradition reached its peak with the Live Aid Concerts to help relieve the Ethiopian famine of 1985. By 1987, the Prince's Trust and its musical director, Midge Ure, had set a glorious precedent. It could. Just to read the list of artists is enough to make your mouth water. Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Bryan Adams, Phil Collins, Paul Young, Ben E. King Alison Moyet, Midge Ure, Labi Siffre, Mark King (Level 42), Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), Go West and Curiosity Killed the Cat. It is impressive by anyone's standards.
Once again the hits just keep coming. While my guitar gently weeps, With a little help from my friends, Saturday night's alright for fighting, Reach out I'll be there, Stand by Me, Invisible and Running in the family give a flavour of the calibre of great songs that roll out.

A partir do álbum Revólver, de 1966, George começou a compor cada vez mais e com qualidade, chegando a competir no mesmo nível de Lennon /McCartney. Neste álbum conseguiu lançar pela primeira vez três canções de sua autoria. Sua composição While my guitar gently weeps, de 1968, incluída álbum duplo The Beatles (Álbum Branco) atingiu grande sucesso. O solo de guitarra da música é executado pelo seu grande amigo Eric Clapton.

Eric Clapton - Over the Rainbow

    10:01

This song is the last one (20th) from the DVD version of the live album One More Car, One More Rider. The album contains songs performed during Clapton's 2001 World Tour. The recordings on this album are from two nights at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, 18 & 19 August 2001.

The beautiful hollow body guitar Eric Clapton is playing is a 1948 Gibson L-5P. In 2011 he put up for auction 70 of his guitars and the proceeds went to the Crossroads Center in Antigua. This rehabilitation center was founded by Eric Clapton in 1998.The auction raised over $2 million and the star of the show was the Gibson that he’s playing in this video. It went for a cool $83,000...

    Lead Guitar - Cliff Goodwin
    Bass - Howard Hersh
    Keyboards - Larry Marshall
    Piano,Arranger - Mitch Chakour
    Drums - B.J. Wilson
    Vocals - Maxine Greene

    Lyrics :

    We skipped the light fandango
    Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
    I was feeling kinda seasick
But crowd called out for more
    The room was humming harder
    As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
    The waiter brought a tray

And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale

    She said:There is no reason
And the truth is plain to see.
As I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
    One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might just as well been closed

And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
Her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale

    Guitar Solo :

And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first was ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale
