How to play Majoras Mask songs on Ocarina

    11:27

In today's episode of #OcTalk, I show you how to play songs from Majora's Mask on ocarina with live demonstrations and ocarina tabs. Check back every Tuesday for new episodes of OcTalk! ⬇LINKS⬇

    Help support the show ➤
Previous video: Clock Town Theme ➤
    Previous OcTalk ➤

    Tips for this video:

    - Although these tabs will work for ocarinas in any tuning/key, these songs must be played with 'C' ocarinas in order to play in the same keys as the originals songs using these tabs.

    - Bremen March: It is possible to play this on a six hole ocarina; however, it requires the low B, which can be achieved by underblowing the low 'C' or using the fipple bend on some ocarinas.

    ▶▶▶ Song listing ◀◀◀
    1) Song of Healing [1:05]
    2) Song of Soaring [1:48]
    3) Song of Double Time [2:03]
    4) Inverted Song of Time [2:20]
    5) Sonata if Awakening [2:40]
    6) Goron Lullaby [3:13]
    7) New Wave Bossa Nova [3:34]
    8) Elegy of Emptiness [4:14]
    9) Oath to Order [4:52]

    10) Clock Town Theme [5:36]
    11) Stone Tower Temple [6:14]
    12) Deku Palace [6:50]
    13) Bremen March [7:34]
    14) Kamaro's Dance (Rosa Sisters) [8:43]
    15) Majora's Theme [10:08]

Special thanks to Chaser Cosplays for her awesome Majora mask and Songbird Ocarina for the use of their tablature!

Using Articulations on Ocarina - OcTalk - David Erick Ramos

    4:30

EDIT: Upon researching this video, I've discovered there are many differences in basic music terminology! I think part of the problem is that I'm a singer, and some of these terms have slightly different meanings to instrumentalists O_o

This week's tutorial is VERY important when it comes to playing the ocarina. Hope you like it :)

The song at the end was called Heart and Soul. I learned it when I was six by watching the Tom Hanks film, Big.

Triple octalk: do my subholes work?

    3:20

This is a vid for (present or to-be) ocarinists who have been wondering about whether WPN/TNG ocarinas have terribly to slightly deffective subholes. Sorry if you were hoping for any musical performance. :3

As for my summation, according to other players who have tried out their wpn/tng ocarinas, there have been various views of whether they work or not. Mine as you see in the video work absolutely fine. They do not require a big change of breath(very very negligable from my perception) and they seem to be accurate in pitch and have unifrom timbre. The only problem is that when utilizing them the ocarina is more sensitive to alteratons in breath pressure. My guess is either as several have stated, an unfamiliarity with the ocarina, or it could be an actually deffective oc on the otherside.

All in all, my guess, when including the views of the rest of the ocarinists out there in TON, we cannot come to a uniform answer here except that not everyone prefers WPN/TNG ocarinas over others they may own. Unless we somehow all come together and share fipples, it's all gonna be hearsay to be honest.
