    The Edge Of The Moon
    She sings him a song
    He loves to listen
    He reads her a story
    She plays a sweet tune
Chopin and Mozart she loves with her heart
Her guardian angel, looks down from the moon

    He rings the bells nightly
    She prays for their freedom
    He stands at the pulpit
    She stays in her room
Scarlatti and Haydn, she loves with her heart
Her guardian angel looks down from the moon

    She prays for the vision
He hopes she won't see it
    She wishes for winter
    He knows it won't come
Summer and Autumn cry whisper the wind song
Her guardian angel looks down from the moon

    He closes the curtains
She takes to her bed now
    He waits in the doorway
    She stays in her room
Beautiful music sweet songs filled with glory
Her guardian angel looks down from the moon
She waves her goodbye from, the edge of the moon

Celtic Thunder MYTHOLOGY is the latest show from Celtic Thunder. Filmed on location at the Helix Theater in Dublin, it's fitting that Celtic Thunder have chosen to return to their roots in order to film this musical odyssey.

The core theme of Mythology is found in the original opening number Voices, Voices call from the old days, Voices tell from the past, Ancient laws and ancient old ways to recast. It's the story of the Celtic People, their legends, their culture and their stories. It's the lifeblood of modern day Celtic people everywhere and the influences from our Celtic past, which are still carried in each one of us as part of whom we are and where we come from. Voices, quoted above, is a collaboration between Celtic Thunder Musical Director/Composer David Munro and world-renowned song writer Brendan Graham, who also wrote the international hit You Raise Me Up.

The set of Mythology is big; it's dramatic and imposing. The new and the old combine. Modern catalyst images are projected onto ancient monolithic standing stones, a giant Celtic cross takes center stage and the tempo of the music is strongly echoed in the theatrical and moody lighting.

Celtic Thunder Mythology - 'The Rocky Road To Dublin'

    Chorus

Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!

Twas in the merry month of May, from me home I started,
Left the girls in Tuam, nearly broken hearted,
Saluted father dear, kissed me darling mother,
Drank a pint of beer, me grief and tears to smother,
Then off to reap the corn, leave where I was born
    Cut a stout black thorn to banish ghosts and goblin;
Bought a pair of brogues, rattling o'er the bogs
And fright'ning all the dogs on the rocky road to Dublin.
    One, two, three four, five

    Chorus

Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!

In Mullingar that night I rested limbs so weary,
Started by daylight next morning blithe and early,
    Took a drop of pure to keep me heart from sinking;
Thats a Paddy's cure whenever he's on drinking.
See the lassies smile, laughing all the while
At me curious style, 'twould set your heart a bubblin'
Asked me was I hired, wages I required,
I was almost tired of the rocky road to Dublin.
    One, two, three four, five

    Chorus

Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!

In Dublin next arrived, I thought it such a pity
To be soon deprived a view of that fine city.
    So then I took a stroll, all among the quality;
Me bundle it was stole, all in a neat locality.
Something crossed me mind, when I looked behind,
No bundle could I find upon me stick a wobblin'
Enquiring for the rogue, they said me Connaught brogue
Wasn't much in vogue on the rocky road to Dublin.
    One, two, three four, five

    Chorus

Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!

From there I got away, me spirits never falling,
Landed on the quay, just as the ship was sailing.
    The Captain at me roared, said that no room had he;
When I jumped aboard, a cabin found for Paddy.
Down among the pigs, played some hearty rigs,
    Danced some hearty jigs, the water round me bubbling;
When off Holyhead I wished meself was dead,
Or better for instead on the rocky road to Dublin.
    One, two, three four, five

    Chorus

Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!

The boys of Liverpool, when we safely landed,
Called meself a fool, I could no longer stand it.
    Blood began to boil, temper I was losing;
Poor old Erin's Isle they began abusing.
Hurrah me soul says I, me Shillelagh I let fly.
Some Galway boys were by, saw I was a hobble in,
With a load Hurray ! joined in the affray.
We quickly cleared the way for the rocky road to Dublin.
    One, two, three four, five

    Chorus (x 2)

Hunt the Hare and turn her down the rocky road
all the way to Dublin, Whack follol de rah!

    The Sound Of Silence
    Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
    Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
    Still remains
    Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
    Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
    That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
    Ten thousand people, maybe more
    People talking without speaking
    People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
    And no one dared
    Disturb the sound of silence

Fools, said I, You do not know
    Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
    And echoed
    In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
    And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence

  • Mythology - Turning Away

    4:09

    TURNING AWAY

In darkness we do what we can
    In daylight we're oblivion
Our hearts so raw and clear
Are turning away, turning away from here

On the water we have walked
    Like the fearless child
    What was fastened we've unlocked
    Revealing wondrous wild
    And in search of confirmation
We have jumped into the fire
And scrambled with our burning feet
    Through uncontrolled desire

In darkness we do what we can
    In daylight we're oblivion
Our hearts so raw and clear
Are turning away, turning away from here

There's a well upon the hill
    From our ancient past
    Where an age is standing
    Still holding strong and fast
And there's those that try to tame it
And to carve it into stone
Ah but words cannot extinguish it
    However hard they're thrown

In darkness we do what we can
    In daylight we're oblivion
Our hearts so raw and clear
Are turning away, turning away from here

By Loch Etive they have worked
    With their highland dreams
    By Kilcrennan they have nourished
    In the mountain streams.
    And in searching for acceptance
    They had given it away
Only the children of their children know
The price they had to pay

In darkness we do what we can
    In daylight we're oblivion
Our hearts so raw and clear
Are turning away, turning away from here

  • Mythology - The Boys Are Back in Town

    2:59

Celtic Thunder Mythology - 'The Boys Are Back in Town'

Guess who just got back today
Them wild-eyed boys that'd been away
Haven't changed, had much to say
But man, I still think them cats are crazy

They were askin' if you were around
How you was, where you could be found
Told them you were livin' downtown
Drivin' all the old men crazy

The boys are back in town, (the boys are back in town)
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town

You know that chick that used to dance a lot
Every night, she'd be on the floor, shakin' what she's got
Man, when I tell ya she was cool, she was red hot
    I mean she was steamin'

And that time over at Johnny's place,
Well, this chick, she got up and slapped Johnny's face
Man, we just fell about the place
If that chick don't wanna know, forget her

The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town
The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town

Spread the word around guess who's back in town
    You spread the word around
Friday night they'll be dressed to kill
Down at Dino's bar and grill
The drink will flow, and blood will spill
And if the boys wanna fight you better let 'em

That jukebox in the corner blasting out my favorite song
The nights are gettin' warmer, it won't be long
Won't be long 'til summer comes
Now that the boys are here again

The boys are back in town, (the boys are back in town)
The boys are back in town, (the boys are back in town)
The boys are back in town, (the boys are back in town)

  • Mythology

    6:14

This is taken from a private audience recording of Mythology's very last show on 7/13/1968. During their final days, the band included Neil Marshall (bass), Chris Smith (vocals), Tony Iommi (lead guitar) and Bill Ward (drums). Mythology became dispirited after an incident where all four members were fined 15 pounds for possession of cannabis resin in Carlisle on 5/27/1968. Since this was considered to be a serious offense at the time, much of their gigging work dried up, and they disbanded after this final show in Siloth. Enjoy!

Just finishing a 16 stop tour in Canada, Celtic Thunder is about to embark on a 44 stop tour in the US, with a brand new show Mythology which tells the history of the Celtic People, their legends, culture and stories. Mythology recounts the heritage of modern-day Celts and the influences from their Celtic past which make them who they are today. This Celtic heritage is aptly explained in the first line of the opening number Voices which was written for Mythology by Musical Director David Munro and songwriter Brendan Graham - Voices call from the old days, Voices tell from the past, Ancient laws and ancient old ways to recast.

Mythology is by far Celtic Thunder's most impressive production to date. All six Celtic Thunder principals, Ryan, George, Keith, Colm, Emmet and Neil feature prominently in Mythology, performing haunting solo numbers such as Carrickfergus, The Isle of Inisfree, Scarlet Ribbons, Katie, Carolina Rua and Now We Free and rousing ensembles The Boys are Back in Town, The Star of the County Down and The Rocky Road to Dublin. There are also great original tracks written especially for Mythology, such as Voices and Hunter's Moon. The finale of Mythology is a powerful and stunning anthem My Landby award winning songwriter Brendan Graham, who also wrote the international hit You Raise Me Up.

The set, lighting, images. music and performances in Mythology make this a show not to be missed! If you have not booked your ticket yet there is still excellent seating still available in many venues across the US, and you can find a Celtic Thunder Show near you with Sound Check Parties still available in many areas.

Celtic Thunder Mythology - 'Seven Drunken Nights'

As I came home on Monday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a horse outside the door where my old horse should be
So I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that horse outside the door where my old horse should be?

    Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
    still you can not see
That's a lovely sow that me mother sent to me
Well, many is a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But a sow with a saddle on sure I never seen before

Now as I came home on Tuesday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a coat behind the door where my old coat should be
So I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that coat behind the door where my old coat should be

    Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
    still you can not see
That's a lovely blanket that me mother sent to me
Well, many is a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But buttons in a blanket sure I never seen before

And as I went home on Wednesday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a pipe up on the chair where my old pipe should be
Well, I called the wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that pipe up on the chair where my old pipe should be

    Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
    still you can not see
That's a lovely tin whistle that me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But tobacco in a tin whistle sure I never seen before

And as I went home on Thursday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw two boots beneath the bed where my two boots should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns those boots beneath the bed where my old boots should be

    Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
    still you can not see
They're two lovely Geranium pots me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But laces in Geranium pots I never seen before

And as I went home on Friday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a head upon the bed where my old head should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that head upon the bed where my old head should be

    Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
    Still you can not see

    Always There
When I'm less than I should be
And I just can't face the day
    When darkness falls around me
And I just can't find my way

When my eyes don't clearly see
And I stumble through it all
You, I lean upon, you keep me strong
And you raise me when I fall

You are there when I most need you
    You are there so constantly
You come shining through, you always do
You are always there for me

When life brings me to my knees
When my back's against the wall
You are standing there right with me
Just to keep me standing tall

Though a burden, I may be
You don't weary, you don't rest
You are reaching out to carry me
And I know I'm heaven blessed

You are there when I most need you
    You are there so constantly
You come shining through, you always do
You are always there for me

You are there when I most need you

  • Mythology - Carrickfergus

    4:03

    CARRICKFERGUS

I wish I was in Carrickfergus
    Only for nights in Ballygran
I would swim over the deepest ocean
The deepest ocean for my love to find

But the sea is wide and I cannot swim over
And nor have I the wings to fly
If I could find me a lonesome boatman
To ferry me over my love and I

My childhood days bring back sad reflections
Of happy time I spent so long ago
My boyhood friends and my own relations
Have all passed on now like the melted snow

So I'll spend my days in endless roving
Soft is the grass my bed is free
Ah, to be home now in Carrickfergus
On that long road down to the sea

And in Kilkenny it is reported
On marble stone there as black as ink
With gold and silver I would support her
But I'll sing no more now till I get a drink

For I'm drunk today and I'm seldom sober
A handsome rover from town to town
Ah but I am sick now my days are numbered
Come all ye young men and lay me down

    (sorrow pain heal all)

  • Mythology - Always There

    4:37

Mythology presents the perfect blend of entertainment, ideology and Gaelic spirituality, providing a modern twist on the old Celtic storytelling tradition. Celtic Thunder's six male soloists Emmet Cahill, Keith Harkin, Ryan Kelly, George Donaldson, Neil Byrne and Colm Keegan are known for performing an eclectic mix of songs, ranging from traditional Irish fare Isle of Innisfree to international hits such as Simon & Garfunkel's Sound of Silence, and the Garth Brooks hit The Thunder Rolls. Haunting soundtracks from the movies are also featured in Mythology with theme song from Gladiator Now We Are Free as well as Harry's Game from the movie of the same name.

I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrows
(In constant sorrow, all through his days.)

I am the man of constant sorrow
I've seen trouble all my days
I bid farewell to ol' Kentucky
The place where I was born and raised.

(The place where he was born and raised)

For six long years I've been in trouble,
no pleasure here on earth I've found
For in this world, I'm bound to ramble,
I have no friends to help me now.

(He has no friends to help him now)

It's fair thee well, my old true lover,
I ne'er expect to see you again.
For I'm bound to ride that Northern Railroad,
perhaps I'll die upon this train

(Perhaps he'll die upon this train)

You can bury me in some deep valley,
For many years where I may lay.
And you may learn to love another
while I am sleeping in my grave.
(While he is sleeping in his grave)

Maybe your friends think I'm just a stranger
My face you'll never see no more
But there is one promise that is given,
I'll meet you on Gods golden shore
