  • MC Xander | New weekly music production jam!!

    2:56

EDIT: It's definitely the 3rd of APRIL and not March like I said towards the end of the video!

    Join us at Patreon.com/mcxandermusic

Live Jam / Production / Music Making sessions EVERY FRIDAY! starting 3 April, 6pm GMT

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow. In a blink of an eye, the world has changed so dramatically and we all are feeling this shock, grief and uncertainty about what the future may hold.

This is a time in which we need to find ways of being together and nurturing our highest, widest and most authentic vision of ourselves.

I feel that music and art are massively important in times like these, as creativity provides a channel through which we can understand, at a deeper level, what we are going through and express it in a way that can create something beautiful and transcendent. This can be so helpful and healing for ourselves and others.

In the darkest parts of my life, music has been the thing that has healed me. When you write music in order to heal, that healing is not only available for you, it is felt like a resonance by others too. Suffering is universal, but so is music.

I have wrestled and scrambled to come up with some way that I can help and support others in this time, and I realise that music is the gift that I want to share.

I want you to be a part of what it is I do. For you, for me, for us.

I can now announce that every Friday from 6pm GMT, I will be hosting a live music session that will be streamed from my studio.

The basic idea is that we are going to make music together. We can do this in many ways, and I hope that as we find our feet, we will realise how best to work. I will (most likely) be streaming it on YouTube live but it will be Patron-only for now, so as long as you support me there, next week you will receive a link that will enable you to join this unlisted livestream. You can choose how you want to be involved. If you are a musician or singer of some sort, then I would like you to send me some recorded audio and we will see if we can incorporate it into the song. If you are a producer then maybe you have some nice beats you made or some samples you like. We’ll try and use them. Perhaps you are a lyricist or poet, in which case maybe we could use some of your words? Of course, most people will probably not be submitting anything and just be hanging out! but I would love you to be there to contribute to the VIBES! Or maybe you would like to learn how music gets made, and see the process of taking a tiny idea and turning it into a fully fledged, mixed track. All of my Patrons will have the chance to ask questions and perhaps if you are doing production yourself, you can also be working on something at the same time and use our regular session to inspire you to co-work with us. Maybe you will come up with something that you want to send across? Let’s collaborate!

I’m really excited about this and can’t wait to see what we can co-create.

As well as the production session, I may also play some bits and pieces that I have been working on during the stream, let’s see ;))

I will be posting all the details to Patreon of how to join this on wed (the 1st) and also make available a link to submit your audio/ideas to.

    See you in the studio!

    ❤️

There are a lot of free music programs out there that sometimes come with and sometimes without limitations. To get a better overview of them, in this video all the advantages and disadvantages of various free digital audio workstations are explained. The decisive factors here are whether third-party plugins are supported, whether the software is constantly updated and whether the number of tracks and projects is limited.

    16:30 Conclusion

I set Scan a challenge, to create the best pc for music production, but also with low latency audio, so that I can play through plugins without a noticeable delay, and quiet enough to record in the same room as the PC.

It also needed to be suitable for video production & live-streaming. Intel's 9th Gen CPU, i9 9900K is perfect starting point for this, with it's 8 cores overclocked to 4.9 Ghz, so Scan coupled it with plenty of RAM, NVMe storage and a powerful GPU for video rendering.

In this video, Berklee Online instructor Prince Charles Alexander and Berklee alumnus Brian Walker continue to produce his song “Call Me,” along with engineer Samantha Stallings. Prince Charles makes some productive suggestions for articulations in the first verse. They do multiple takes to focus on the intention of the lyrics, the crunch and articulation of the syllables, and to illuminate pops on plosive syllable sounds.

    About Prince Charles Alexander:
Prince Charles Alexander is a sought-after music producer and audio engineer whose clients include Mary J. Blige, Destiny's Child, Faith Evans, P. Diddy, the Notorious B.I.G., Usher, Boyz II Men, Brandy, Babyface, Sting, Aretha Franklin, Brian McKnight, Donnie McClurkin, and others.
He has garnered more than 40 Platinum and Gold certifications from the RIAA and has multiple Grammy Awards and nominations. He teaches Advanced Production and Mixing at Berklee, and created the Commercial Record Production minor in that department. Alexander also teaches production and engineering for Berklee Online, is co-creator of the Vocal Production course for Berklee Online, and for more than 10 concurrent years, was also an adjunct instructor at New York University's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.
From the early to mid 1980s, he produced, wrote, and recorded on Virgin Records with his group, Prince Charles and the City Beat Band. Alexander was an early innovator of wind synthesis and a part of the punk-funk generation that incorporated many of the devices that would propel rap music to the forefront of the American music scene.
