    ????FAQs:
    Are you a full time YouTuber?
    Yes guys, I am a full time as Marco Cirillo on my YouTube channel and I promote my videos on my website BlitzGuitar.com. All the courses I post online are available on my Patreon page

    How long have you been playing guitar for?
    I started playing guitar when I was 10 years old so it has been more than 20 years. I have always loved fingerpicking guitar so this is why all my tutorials focus on this topic.

    Why are you on Patreon?
    Patreon is great! It allows creators to make money doing what they love. On Patreon I can share my guitar lessons with my Patrons and get payed for it. As a creator I feel like Patreon really made a huge difference in the way I share my content :)

    Do you do concerts?
    I used to do a lot of gigs in the past. London is a great place to play music almost every day. When my YouTube channel started to grow I decided to go all in and try to help as many people as possible learning guitar. This goal takes all the time I have available so I am not doing any gig or concert atm.

  • Using Effects Pedals With Multi Channel Guitar Amps And A Bit On FX Loops – That Pedal Show

    49:21

    Many amps have separate clean and overdrive channels. We discuss how the sounds differ when you use your pedals with them, including using the effects loops.

    Life too short for long YouTube videos? Please see the ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ information below.

    Hello folks, sorry this one is late – we had some gremlins in the system that made the edit corrupted, so it had to be fixed. We got there in the end.

    Welcome to the show! In this episode, Dan and I demonstrate what happens when you use common effects pedal types – boost, overdrive, modulation, delay/reverb – into the clean and dirty channels of your guitar amplifier. We also touch on the effects loop section of your amp and why you may or may not want to use that.

    Now, clearly there’s quite a bit of latitude in what we might call ‘overdrive’. In this case we’re using a mid-gained overdrive texture for our 'dirty' channel. The more gained you go, the more marked differences you will hear between clean and dirty channels in terms of how your effects react.

    For anyone wanting more on FX loops in general including stuff like the Four Cable Method (that Dan is basically using to patch the amp's preamp into G2), that is for another day - we'll dedicate a whole show to it.

    Meantime, there are on-screen graphics to explain what's going on, but if you're still confused…
    The effects order is as follows: Guitar, Boost, D&M Drive, Jam Ripply Fall, Maxon AD-9, Source Audio Collider, Amp

    Now look at the top row of G2. The four labels that start with ‘Preamp…’ refer to where the amp’s FX loop is sitting in the signal chain. When the red light is lit under…

    • Preamp After Drives: this means the boost and D&M Drive are hitting the amp preamp. ALL other effects are in the amp effects loop.

    • Preamp After Ripply Fall: Boost, D&M, Ripply Fall in the front, Delays in the amp effects loop

    • Preamp After Analogue Delay: Boost, D&M, Ripply Fall and Maxon AD-9 in the front of the amp, Source Audio Collider in the amp effects loop

    • Preamp After Everything: Everything in the front of the amp, nothing in the effects loop.

    We hope that helps!

    Enjoy the episode.

  • How to fit a piezo pickup and preamp into an acoustic guitar. The LC-5

    16:58

    How to fit a piezo pickup and preamp into an acoustic guitar and make it into an electro-acoustic guitar. I've done the same project with a Fishman Presys Blend 301 pickup and preamp

    In this project I fit a piezo pickup and mic, LC-5 equalizer preamp into an acoustic guitar or in other words, I make an acoustic guitar into an electro-acoustic guitar.
    The preamp also has the addition of a microphone socket and a control to balance the sound of the mic with the sound of the pickup making it very flexible. The results are an acoustic guitar that can be plugged straight into an amplifier, mixing desk or effects for easy recording or good live performance. I did this project with a cheap guitar so I can see what the results were going to be like without potentially ruining an expensive guitar, however I was very impressed with the sound the preamp produced. My only criticism after using the guitar for a while was that the battery like in this preamp was very poor. I have now done exactly the same job using a Fishman Presys Blend 301, which also a microphone and piezo pickup but I was far more impressed with the battery life in that preamp and the sound was very good.

    In this project the preamp was an unbranded one that was bought off Ebay directly from Hong Kong, however it is still available to buy. To find the preamp on eBay or Amazon search 'Acoustic Guitar Preamp EQ LC-5'
    I replaced the microphone provided with a Sony ECM-DS70P because it made a noticeable improvement to the sound and the background noise.

    how to make a £40 acoustic guitar play like a £400 guitar. This is from a series of videos where I take a very cheap guitar and make lots of easy and inexpensive improvements to this guitar to make it play like a far better guitar.

    In this video I take the cheap Glarry GT501 guitar I reviewed in the previous video and get rid of as many of it's weaknesses as possible to make it feel like a guitar that would cost 10 times more. The Glarry GT501 is a very cheap guitar and because of this it isn't very well finished on the fingerboard and frets, the guitar would also benefit a lot from a pickup and preamp.

    In this video I will perform the following jobs on the guitar;
    I will bevel the edge of the frets and smooth them off.
    I will treat the wood on the fingerboard.
    I will lower the action.
    I will fit an under-bridge pickup and a Fishman blend preamp
    I will remove the mat finish and put a shine on the back of the neck.

    All I had to spend to bring this acoustic guitar up to a far higher standard is about £10 for the Fishman blend preamp.

    To learn the tune I play at the end here are the lessons;

On Patreon I can share my guitar lessons with my Patreon and get payed for it. As a creator I feel like Patreon really made a huge difference in the way I share my content :)

    Do you do Concerts?
    I used to do a lot of gigs before. London is a great place to play music every single day. However, since my YouTube channel grew I decided I was going to try to help as many people as possible learning guitar. This is a full time job that doesn't leave space for gigging. I am super happy of the decision I made :)

  • How to do 80s vocals | arrange - record - mix

    39:26

    After many requests I've made a video on how I arrange, record and mix my vocals, 80 style.
    80s vocals were often lush, large and reverb drenched and I love that sound.
    To accomplish that I use a large variety of plugins and hardware effects.
    I also sing and record each part, even if it's several unison voices. By doing so (instead of copying) you get a much more lush result because of the natural chorusing.

    Growing up I listened to so much synth-pop and it's only natural that my own music takes inspiration from many of the acts I loved back then. I still love them and listen to them!

    Howard Jones, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Erasure, Thompson Twins, Tears for Fears, The Human League, Propaganda. FGTH, Ultravox, OMD, Eurythmics, Duran Duran, Giorgio Moroder, Jean Michel Jarre, Jan Hammer, Alphaville, A-ha as well as loads of artists doing what is now called Italo Disco. And many more great acts like Nik Kershaw, Spandau Ballet, Wham, Dire Straits ++

  • bluedot 2019 | Marco Gersabeck: The Big Bang ABC

    55:49

    Marco Gersabeck's DotTalk covered one of the biggest mysteries around the Big Bang: why are we living in a Universe of matter, which seems all but devoid of antimatter? Discover more from bluedot 2019.

    The Big Bang created equal amounts of matter and antimatter, which subsequently annihilated to pure energy. Well, almost: a tiny asymmetry in the processes involving the very first subatomic particles led to a relatively small amount of leftover matter, just enough to make up all of the Universe as we know it today.

    bluedot is an award-winning festival of discovery at the grounds of a deep space observatory. Set against a backdrop of the iconic Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank, bluedot combines a truly stellar line-up of music with a ground-breaking programme of live science experiments, expert talks and immersive artworks.

  • Reflections on Planetary Health, Ecosystem Restoration, and Earth Regeneration

    Reflections on Planetary Health, Ecosystem Restoration, and Earth Regeneration - Video Diary Part 1 (Sept 3rd 2018)

    After a visit by Prof Anthony Capon, who holds the world's first Chair in Planetary Health and is a co-author of the first report by the Lancet & Rockefeller Foundation Commission on Planetary Health, I reflect on our conversation, the concept of planetary health, my PhD research 14 to 12 years ago on the subject, and on how relevant this work now is as we face rapid climate change, pushing various planetary boundaries and are faced with the need to very swiftly restore health ecosystems functions and regenerate the planetary life support system.

    I touch on:
    - health as an emergent property of complex dynamic systems;

    - the scale-linking architecture of health that connects cells, with organs, with organisms, families, communities, (cities), ecosystems, bioregions, (nations), and the planet;

    - the nations state as an anachronism and the importance of bioregional development;

    - the possible UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration (2020-2030)

    - environmental determinants of health, including our micro-biome;

    - a salutogenic rather than a pathogenic approach to health;

    - the significance of all this at the beginning of the Century of Regeneration (our only viable response left in times of climate chaos;

    - the importance of education that enables local and bioregional regenerative development ...

    (This is part 1 or 3, and throughout the recordings I am on my SUP board exercising and getting into flow state on the Bay of Palma, Majorca Spain.)

  • Force | Shift-line

    2:26

    Testing 'Force' pedal by Shift-Line.

    Info from
    Type: Freeze reverb (eternal reverb, microsampling reverb)
    Instruments: Guitar/Bass
    Short description: Dark ambient machine.

    Summary: Play a chord and push the footswitch: the “frozen” chord will create a wall of sound, over which you can play a solo. You can also use this pad-like sound in drone and similar genres of music.
    A very short music sample is recorded into the device’s memory and (as soon as the device is switched on) is looped, filtered and processed through high-feedback reverberation, resulting in a lush background pad sound.
    Very few devices can do the same, and none of them have such a small footprint as Force does. One more distinctive feature of the device is that Force samples the sound beforehand. You don’t have to wait for it to record the sample when you switch it on; the effect is applied instantly. Force constantly samples the incoming sound and starts working exactly when you need.

  • Pricing investigation of music equipment retailing in the UK | whats next | Tony Mckenzie

    20:54

    I saw news about Fender, Roland and others being investigated for price fixing in the UK (confirmed by telegraph.co.uk) and although the regulatory body did not name them, the telegraph did. I wanted to raise a few points about what is happening and also about how I see prices worldwide when I buy equipment.

    For anyone unfamiliar with MAP pricing and exactly what that is, this video should be very educational and could conceivably save you lots of money when you're buying music equipment.

    I explain what MAP is, I show how it affects every online company for one product in particular (a GT-1000) but also bear in mind that what I comment can be used to check many brands of gear and then it becomes immediately obvious who is applying this appalling method of misleading customers who want to buy products. It's not just limited to music gear either!

    If you like this video then do check my YouTube channel as I have nearly 240 videos there and also my website for other written videos and info.

    PLEASE SUBSCRIBE AND RING THE BELL. And if you like the video then thumbs up! Thanks - its always appreciated and I won't bombard you with reviews!
