    Released as a single January 2, 1983

    THE SHORT FILM
    Director: Steve Barron
Primary Production Location: Los Angeles, California

Michael Jackson's short film for Billie Jean was the first of three short films produced for recordings from Thriller, which continues its reign as the biggest selling album of all time with worldwide sales in excess of 105 million as of June 1, 2016 and in December, 2015 became the first ever album to be awarded triple diamond status by the RIAA for US sales alone. The Billie Jean single reached No. 1 in 10 countries in the spring of 1983, including seven consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 - becoming the second-highest selling single in America that same year.

Billie Jean was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on April 4, 1983, and Platinum on February 4, 1989. The song won two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance - Male, as well as an American Music Award for Favorite Single - Pop/Rock and was also named the Single of the Year on The Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics' poll in 1983.

The short film featured a paparazzo attempting to photograph Jackson as he danced through an urban landscape. A specially created set featured steps and sidewalk tiles that lit up underneath Michael's feet. It is here that fans first saw some of Michael's best-known dance moves, such as spinning and landing on his toes. Many of Michael's steps and mannerisms in the video would become forever associated with The King of Pop.

[W]hen the chorus hit.he sprung into this dance that was unlike anything I'd ever seen, director Steve Barron recounted of Jackson's choreography in the video. It was just extraordinary, instinctive. He pulled it all together and turned it into what we saw.The camera literally steamed up, the eyepiece steamed up, because of my heat from what I was seeing. Barron also recalled the crew breaking into spontaneous applause after Michael finished dancing.

The Billie Jean short film made history as the first video by a black artist to be played in heavy rotation on MTV, then in its second year. In 1992, the short film was inducted into the Music Video Producers Hall of Fame. MTV ranked Billie Jean as the 35th greatest music video of all time in 1999, one of three entries of Jackson's on the chart alongside Thriller and Beat It.

The short film for Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal was the centerpiece of the feature film Moonwalker, and featured the debut of Michael's iconic anti-gravity lean. From the album Bad, released August 31, 1987
    Released as a single October 21, 1988

    THE SHORT FILM
    Director: Colin Chilvers
Primary Production Location: Los Angeles, California

Michael Jackson's short film for Smooth Criminal was the sixth of nine short films produced for recordings from Bad, one of the best selling albums of all time. The Smooth Criminal single hit No. 1 in Spain and The Netherlands and reached the Top 10 in the UnitedStates, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Ireland and Switzerland. In the United States, Smooth Criminal reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100-the sixth single from Bad to do so-as well as Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles charts.

In addition to being a standalone short film, Smooth Criminal became the centerpiece of Michael's most ambitious film project at the time, Moonwalker, a feature-length film that was released theatrically in various countries outside of the United States. In the Smooth Criminal portion of the film, Michael and his friends face off against the notorious drug lord Mr. Big (Joe Pesci) and attempt to foil his plot to get the children of the world hooked on drugs-but of course, in the end, Michael defeats the villain.

The musical portion of Smooth Criminal takes place in the magical Club '30s, where Michael instructed his friends to meet him. While Katie (Kellie Parker), Zeke (Brandon Adams) and Sean (Sean Lennon) find the club to belong abandoned, Club '30s springs to life when Michael shows up, wearing a blue and white pinstripe suit and fedora.

As the kids watch through the window, Michael flips a coin into the jukebox and leads the club patrons through a dazzling performance to Smooth Criminal. Here, Michael shows off updated versions of his signature dance moves. He also debuts one of his most iconic dance moves: the anti-gravity lean, a seemingly impossible move.

    Written by Rod Temperton

From the album Thriller, released November 30, 1982
    Released as a single January 23, 1984

    THE SHORT FILM
    Director: John Landis
Primary Production Location: Los Angeles, California

Michael Jackson's short film for Thriller was the third of three short films produced for recordings from Thriller, which continues its reign as the biggest selling album of all time with worldwide sales in excess of 105 million as of June 1, 2016 and in December 2015 became the first ever album to be awarded triple diamond status (i.e.: sales in excess of 30 million) by the RIAA for US sales alone. The Thriller single reached No. 1 in four countries in 1984, topping the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart as well as charts in Spain, France and Belgium. The song peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Thriller the first album to feature seven Top 10 singles. The Recording Industry Association of America certified Thriller Gold and Platinum on December 4, 1989.

The groundbreaking short films for the Thriller album, starting with Billie Jean, following up with Beat It and culminating with the epic, nearly 14-minute Thriller, truly expanded the possibilities of music video as art form. I wanted something that would glue you to the set, something you'd want to watch over and over, Michael wrote in his 1988 memoir Moonwalk. I wanted to be a pioneer in this relatively new medium and make the best short music movies we could make.

In the short film's extended prologue, Michael's moonlit date with his girlfriend (played by model Ola Ray) is interrupted by his sudden transformation into a howling werewolf. While the real Michael and Ola, observing the scene in a movie theater, walk home from the their date, Michael teases her by singing the verses of Thriller.

Michael Jackson - Remember The Time

    9:17

Michael Jackson's Remember The Time short film was the second short film from the Dangerous album and continued to push the boundaries of the music video medium with a star-studded, nine-minute epic co-starring Eddie Murphy, Iman and Magic Johnson. Directed by John Singleton, this short film was hailed as a gorgeous ancient Egyptian extravaganza by Entertainment Weekly.

From the album Dangerous, released November 26, 1991
    Released as a single January 14, 1992

    THE SHORT FILM
    Director: John Singleton
Primary Production Location: Los Angeles, California

Michael Jackson's short film for Remember the Time was the second of nine short films produced for recordings from Dangerous, Michael's fourth album as an adult solo performer. As a single, Remember the Time reached the Top 5 in nine countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Ireland and New Zealand (where it reached No. 1).

Remember the Time was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on March 16, 1992. In 1993, the single won an American Music Award for Favorite Soul Single and a Soul Train Award for Best Single (Male). Both Remember the Time and its predecessor Black or White received a BMI Urban Award in 1993 for being two of the most performed songs of the year.

Once again, Michael pushed the boundaries of the music video medium with Remember the Time, crafting a star-studded, nine-minute epic set in ancient Egypt. A pharaoh (Eddie Murphy) and his queen (Iman) seek new entertainment for the court. After a palace guard (Magic Johnson) presents jugglers and fire-eaters to no interest from the royals, a black-robed wizard shocks the court by disintegrating before reforming as a gold-clad Michael Jackson, whose romantic song and dance directed at the queen angers the pharaoh. Michael is chased throughout the kingdom by the pharaoh's guards, pausing to briefly romance the queen and lead a hip-hop dance breakdown before spinning and turning to sand, evading the guards once and for all.

    THE SHORT FILM
    Director: Bruce Gowers
Primary Production Location: Los Angeles, California

Although all of Michael Jackson's music videos are referred to as short films, the short films for Off the Wall, Michael's first solo album for Epic Records, are more classic music videos, as they are performance clips rather than scripted stories. Michael's short film for Rock With You was the second of the three short films produced for recordings from that album. The single reached No. 1 in the United States in 1980, topping Billboard's Hot 100 and Hot R&B Singles charts and reaching No. 4 on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 chart that same year.

Rock With You was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on February 14, 1980, and Platinum of February 14, 1989. The song was ranked No. 82 on Rolling Stone and MTV's list of the 100 Greatest Pop Songs in 2000. In his 1988 memoir Moonwalk, Michael called Rock With You, written by Rod Temperton, the sort of thing I was aiming for in creating an album to his vision.

The short film featured Michael performing the song on a plain stage in a sequined jumpsuit and matching boots, a set of shimmering lasers illuminating his outfit from behind. Director Bruce Gowers praised Michael as an absolute professional in an interview with Rolling Stone. In 2014, the magazine would rank Rock With You No. 6 on a list of Michael Jackson's 20 Greatest Videos.

    THE SHORT FILM

Michael Jackson's short film for Black or White was the first of nine short films produced for recordings from Dangerous, Michael's fourth album as an adult solo performer. Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror

    5:04

Official Video for “Man In the Mirror” by Michael Jackson
    Listen to Michael Jackson:

“Man In The Mirror” is the third of nine short films for the “Bad” album. In keeping with the lyrical message of the song, which is strongly identified with Michael Jackson and reflective of his own philosophies, the short film tells a story through powerful images of oppression, homelessness, hunger, police brutality and other ills of the world as well as events and leaders of the 20th century whose work embodies the song’s message to “make that change.” Michael is only featured briefly in a crowd shot toward the end of the film. Rolling Stone praised the short film in 2014 as “a powerful statement to deliver to personality-driven MTV” and included it on the list of Michael’s 20 greatest short films. “Man In The Mirror” is the fourth of five consecutive No.1 singles from the album making Michael the first artist to achieve this milestone.

Michael Jackson - Lady In My Life

    6:11

1982 in a studio in LA. Thriller has been entirely recorded and mixed, and mastered. The master is sent off to create a test pressing. The test pressing comes back to Quincy Jones, Bruce Swedien (the engineer), and Michael. They listen to the album and something's wrong. Very wrong. So wrong, in fact, that Michael bursts into tears and runs out of the room.

The problem? Side 2 was too long and the album lacked punch. Vinyl operates differently in many ways from other media but one of the chief ways is that you can only put so much music on each side. When you try to go further, one must compromise low end and high end so that all of the music will fit. Such was the problem with the original Thriller.

The solution? They were forced to edit two tracks. The first edits were done to Billie Jean. Some of the intro was edited and other parts were excised as well in order to create the version we are now most familiar with. Once they edited that track, more had to be done. They then decided to edit Lady In My Life - removing the first chorus and second verse. Once the edits were done, another test pressing was completed and it sounded amazing. The results were clearly excellent as they were purchased by over 50 million people and continues to this day to be the most successful album ever released by anyone at any time.

The full, unedited version of Billie Jean would later surface on the 12-inch singles used to promote the album and they can be found relatively easily on eBay, et al. The full, unedited version of the tune presented here has yet to surface anywhere. In 2002, a CD was released to industry types. It was produced by Chrysalis Music in Europe and was titled The Songs of Rod Temperton. That 2-CD set featured songs written or co-written by Mr. Temperton. The CD is incredibly hard to come by. This clip features the song exactly as it appears on the CD. Sadly, the quality of what's on the CD isn't amazing. It appears to be a relatively poor cassette dub. Either way, it's certainly better than not having it at all.

Anyway, it's a lovely tune made far lovelier by the inclusion of the original first chorus and second verse. If you have one of the original pressings of the Thriller LP, take a look at the sleeve. You'll note it has lyrics for the full song. If you don't, I have you covered:

    Anyway, enjoy!

Michael Jackson - Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough

Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough was the first short film of Michael Jackson's solo career, filmed in 1979 for the No. 1 hit single from 'Off the Wall.' Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, directed by Nick Saxon, was the jumping off point for the elaborate and groundbreaking short films Michael would go on to create throughout his career.

    Released as a single July 10, 1979

    THE SHORT FILM
    Director: Nick Saxon

Although all of Michael Jackson's music videos are referred to as short films, the short films for Off the Wall, Michael's first solo album for Epic Records, are more classic music videos, as they are performance clips rather than scripted stories. Michael's short film for Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough was the first of the three short films produced for recordings from that album. The single reached No. 1 in eight countries in 1979, topping Billboard's Hot 100, Hot Soul Singles and Hot Disco Singles charts as well as the Cash Box Top 100.

Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on November 29, 1979, and Platinum on February 14, 1989. The song won Michael his first solo Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 1980, as well as his first American Music Award for Favorite Single (Soul/R&B). Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough was ranked No. 9 on the 100 Best Songs of the '70s by NME and No. 16 on VH1's list of 100 Greatest Dance Songs.

That song means a lot to me because it was the first song I wrote as a whole, Michael wrote in his 1988 memoir Moonwalk. 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough' was my first big chance, and it went straight to Number One. It was the song that won me my first Grammy. Quincy had the confidence in me to encourage me to go into the studio by myself, which I appreciated.

The short film featured Michael in performance against a dazzling background of geometric shapes and patterns. Wearing a tuxedo similar to his outfit on the Off the Wall album cover, Jackson sings and dances to the song, at one point even dancing with two other clones of himself, achieved through the magic of special effects.

In 1989, the 2nd Annual World Music Awards awarded the short film the Viewers Choice No. 1 Video; Michael was inducted into the World Music Hall of Fame the same year. “Dirty Diana” is the fifth of five consecutive No.1 singles from the album making Michael the first artist to achieve this milestone.

For those of you who are blocked from viewing this or the old one, here is just an image of the quality comparison. Left is this video, right is the old one.

This is my much clearer version of Smooth Criminal. The old version can be found here if you want to compare.

As said in my other video, here is the HD (720p) version of Smooth Criminal. No resizing/cropping SD to HD. Just 720p of crystal clear video (the best damn music video there is IMO).

This version is the short music video of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal that was played on TV during the good old days.

    Lyrics/Subtitles included.

Michael Jackson y su Extraña Habitación

    10:05

Michael Jackson - Leave Me Alone

    4:39

Official Video for “Leave Me Alone” by Michael Jackson
    Listen to Michael Jackson:

Michael Jackson’s short film for “Leave Me Alone” is the seventh of nine short films for the “Bad” album. The visually stunning short film is the first of Michael’s songs and short films that serve as commentary on the media frenzy that often surrounded him and features a surreal amusement park built around a giant Michael tied down like Gulliver in the classic book Gulliver’s Travels. The short film won a Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video and was ranked one of the Top 10 Music Videos in a 2008 Rolling Stone critics’ poll.

    Michael Jackson - Speed Demon

    10:11

Co-Produced by Michael Jackson for MJJ Productions, Inc.
From the album Bad, released August 31, 1987
    Released as a single October 12, 1989

    THE SHORT FILM
    Director: Will Vinton

Michael Jackson's short film for Speed Demon was the ninth and final short film produced for recordings from Bad, one of the best selling albums of all time. Speed Demon was released as a promotional single in the United States, the 10th of 11 songs from the album to earn a single release-an unprecedented achievement.

The Speed Demon short film, released as part of Michael's feature-length film Moonwalker in 1989 and featuring the groundbreaking Claymation of Will Vinton (who also worked with Michael in a Claymation ad for the California Raisins), was another humorous take on the media attention Michael was receiving at the time and Michael's attempts to escape the attention in disguise - wearing a Claymation rabbit head. The short film features a number of Claymation characters, including cameos by The Noid, the Vinton-created spokesperson for Domino's Pizza, as well as caricatures of celebrities like Sylvester Stallone, Tina Turner and Pee-wee Herman and featuring Spike, a man-sized Claymation rabbit who magically comes to life and engages in a dance-off with Michael after he changes out of the Spike costume.

The dance-off is stopped by a motorcycle cop writing a ticket for Michael dancing in a No Dancing zone-ironically getting the autograph that the others had sought. As Michael mounts the motorcycle to leave, he smiles as a distant rock formation turns into the winking face of Spike.

The short film for Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal was the centerpiece of the feature film Moonwalker, and featured the debut of Michael's iconic anti-gravity lean. Inspired in part by Fred Astaire's Girl Hunt Ballet dance number in the film The Band Wagon, Smooth Criminal was named Best Video at the BRIT Awards, Broadcast Film Critics Association and the People's Choice Awards.

Michael Jackson Vs Freddie Mercury Acapella studio vocals

    10:39

After the video of Freddie vs Mj vs Elvis blew up reaching over 4K views I decided to make a video of just these two because there seemed to b a war in the comments of who was better. I specifically chose just the raw vocals in the studio sessions of a few select songs because I feel it accurately represents their vocal abilities.

I might even make a Vs video based on their live performance skills as well just cause I love pitting these two against each other to see what people say about them. Anyways Enjoy.

Michael Jackson 10th Anniversary Death Tribute Beat It

    4:24

30th Anniversary Special performance of Beat It featuring Slash on lead guitar solo is in memory of Michael Jackson. The King of Pop is remembered ten years after he died on June 25, 2009.

KTLA article: Michael Jackson's estate paid tribute to his artistry and charity Tuesday as fans make final preparations for gatherings to celebrate his memory on the 10th anniversary of the King of Pop's death.

Ten years ago today, the world lost a gifted artist and extraordinary humanitarian, the Jackson estate said in a statement to The Associated Press. A decade later, Michael Jackson is still with us, his influence embedded in dance, fashion, art and music of the moment. He is more important than ever.

The estate has doggedly worked to protect and enhance Jackson's legacy, a task made more challenging this year when two men accused Jackson of molesting them as boys in the HBO documentary Leaving Neverland, sparking new scrutiny of years-old claims that Jackson preyed on children. Jackson was acquitted of abuse allegations in 2005 and always vehemently denied such allegations, and the estate and his family angrily refuted the men's claims when the documentary was released in March, noting the men had at one time been among Jackson's biggest defenders and testified on his behalf at his criminal trial.

The estate is using the anniversary of Jackson's death to celebrate and accentuate Jackson's vast humanitarian work. It called on fans to honor Jackson's memory by engaging in charitable acts whether it's planting a tree, volunteering at a shelter, cleaning up a public space or helping someone who is lost find their way. ... This is how we honor Michael, the statement read.

Fans plan to gather at Jackson's last home in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, where the singer received a fatal dose of the anesthetic propofol on the afternoon of June 25, 2009 from his doctor. Jackson was declared dead at a hospital at age 50.

They also plan a vigil at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California, where Jackson was laid to rest two months later.

Some planned to gather around Jackson's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. One group of fans planned a Hollywood rally Tuesday to declare his innocence of molestation allegations.
