    Band name: Metallica
    Date: November 13, 1997
    Venue: Ministry Of Sound
    Location: London, England
    Tour name: Blitzkrieg '97

    Notes:

Recorded Live On November 13, 1997 At The Ministry Of Sound, London.
    Mixed by James 'Jimbo' Barton.

Audio for the whole show was professionally recorded/mixed and all songs (except for Fuel & Master Of Puppets) were officially released as Bonus Tracks on various later CD Singles.
The two missing songs were taken from an unofficial Bootleg CD release, the rest are from the official Singles.

A 4-track CD called Live In London (Antipodean Tour Edition) was also released to promote Metallica's 1998 tour and was given free with Metallica CD's sold in Europe.

Apparently Metallica allowed MTV to film the 3 first songs, which were never aired, only 4 seconds of Of Wolf and Man in a '98 Special.
But you can at least watch the full video for Helpless over at leomet's channel if you want to:

    Enjoy!

  • DJ Styles | Garage Classics 1997 | Pure Magic FM 90.2 | London Pirate Radio | Wed 1st Jan 1997

    46:38

Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. Recorded on New Year's Day 1997. House & Garage Classics. DJ Styles was a household name on Pure Magic FM. He featured on a lot of their rave and club nights like SUS and Obsessions. DJ Styles was known for interacting with his listeners and would host his shows. After Pure Magic went off air little is known what happened to his career. He is simply known as the Magic FM veteran. Maximum props DJ Styles.
The channel wanted to find out if was same DJ Styles did sets on Future FM 99.1 playing Jungle in the early 1990s. If anyone could let us know so we can adapt this description.

  • DJ Greg Stainer | Old Skool House & Garage 1997 | London Underground FM 89.4

    1:33:37

Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archive.

DJ Greg Stainer is an established House producer. He started his career on London Underground FM, releasing his first E.P. on the V.I.P. (Very Important Plastic) label, Twilight Zone E.P. and Original Flava E.P.. He left L.U.G. FM in 2000, when UK Garage and House music was changing direction. Greg Stainer decided to take the House path, it was clear his influences were 4/4 and not the 2 step sound. He is one of few UK DJs that has focused purely on working internationally and is not based in the UK. He is currently based in the UAE.

Great show with the Hillbillies showing as much energy as they did in the first of the 11 concerts. Nice touch at the start with everyone singing “Happy Birthday” for Guy, who’s birthday was the day after this final concert of the 1997 tour.

  • Om - Feet Like Lead

    5:18

Recorded live at 'The King's Head' Fulham, London. Autumn 1997.

    'Don't let the BANG-BANG scare you away . . .'

    Blimey. 20 years ago. Already.
I did some great promo that year with Anglo-Aussie pop combo 'Om'.

Lead by ex-actor Tom Jennings (best known for his role as 'Slake' in 'Mad Max - Beyond The Thunderdome'), with lovely lads Richie Cirillo on guitar, Andy 'The Source' Byrnes on (phenomenal) drums - his last gig with 'Om', BTW, he headed back to Oz after this - and Mike Hartnett on Bass.

Just found this Hi-8 tape I shot at one of their last performances. No edits, and (surprisingly good) cam-mic audio. Being jostled while shooting by an over-enthusiastic crowd. Amateurish recording, granted - but very 'in-the-moment'.

They were really cooking that year, but couldn't get a sniff of the barmaid's apron. They deserved better, but - as I was pointing out to my eldest daughter recently - some of the best music I've EVER heard never made it to vinyl . . .
