Chicago 2005 - Blues Brunch with Little Arthur Duncan

    3:42

Little Arthur Duncan is the last of the real deal Chicago bluesman. Born in Mississippi 73 years ago, he has been on the Chicago blues scene since it's heyday in the 1950's.
Arthur has played the bars and saloons on the westside of town and has even owned a couple of clubs himself. Little Arthur's style follows the Chicago greats like Jimmy Reed and Howlin' Wolf and he sounds today as if you were in a bar on West Madison Street in 1959.
This is the rough and tumble blues that made Chicago famous.
Note: Michael Coleman on guitar !

Taildragger live in Chicago Sept. 19, 2008

    6:49

Chicago blues singer Taildragger performing at the memorial benefit for harp player Little Arthur Duncan, on September 19th, 2008, at Rosa's Blues Lounge in Chicago.

As usual, Taildragger came down off the stage and started working the crowd as soon as the song began, so throughout the beginning of the video he can only be seen occasionally, whenever someone snaps a flash photo. Later in the song, someone shines a light on him and he can be seen a little bit better.

The band is Little Frank Krakowski and Kevin Shanahan on guitars, Martin Lang on harmonica, Rob Lorenz on drums, bass player unknown, and the legendary Willie Young, who played in Howling Wolf's band, on saxophone.

They took more time doing the sound check for this radio session. For BBC, Ben abbreviated it, leaving out a section, the full version was over 15 minutes...not youtubable. Too bad it has to be heard with all the compression, part of why the harmonica is a little overwhelmed sometimes.
ALVIN YOUNGBLOOD HART had a interesting version of this song.
