    Translation:
    At the sea, blue sea
    There was a floating flock of white swans
    And where did the gray-white eagle come from?
    It dispersed the flock around the blue sea
    White down rose to heaven,
    Gray feathers fell on a green meadow
    And who will collect these feathers?
    - A beautiful girl

    Tłumaczenie tekstu:
    Na morzu, na błękitnym morzu
    Tam pływały stada białych łabędzi
    Z małymi łabądkami
    A skąd się wziął szaro-biały orzeł
    Rozgonił stado po całym błękitnym morzu
    Biały puszek uniósł się do nieba
    Szare pierze opadło na zielonej łące
    A kto zbierze to pierze?
    Zbierze je piękna dziewczyna

    Many thanks to Asia and Huzy for hospitality and drumming!
    Wielkie podziękowania dla Asi i Huzego za gościnę i wspólne bębnienie!

    Thanks to Raman for sharing this song with us, lyric and translation!

    ABOUT US / O NAS:
    Laboratorium Pieśni – Song Laboratory (world/ethno/spiritual/mystic folk music) is a female group of singers from Poland, created in 2013. Using traditional, polyphonic singing they perform songs from all over the world, mainly: Ukraine, Balkans, Belarus, Georgia, Scandinavia, Poland and many other places. They sing a capella as well as with shaman drums and other ethnic instruments (shruti box, kalimba, flute, gong, zaphir and koshi chimes, singing bowls, rattles etc.), creating a new space in a traditional song, adding voice improvisations, inspired by sounds of nature, often intuitive, wild and feminine.

    Laboratorium Pieśni – Song Laboratory (world/etno/spiritual/mystic folk music) to trójmiejski, kobiecy zespół pieśniarek, powstały w 2013 roku. Grupa śpiewa i aranżuje tradycyjne pieśni polifoniczne: ukraińskie, bułgarskie, białoruskie, serbskie, albańskie, bośniackie, polskie, a także gruzińskie, skandynawskie, oksytańskie i wiele innych. Pieśni Świata wykonują zarówno a capella, jak i przy akompaniamencie bębnów szamańskich i innych etnicznych instrumentów (m.in. shruti box, dzwonków, przeszkadzajek, fletu, kalimby, mis, gongu), wnosząc w pieśni tradycyjne nową aranżację, przestrzeń improwizacji głosowych, inspirowanych dźwiękami natury, często intuicyjnych, dzikich, kobiecych.

  • Lithuanian Multipart Song Sutartinė - Broliai su Meškom Lylia

    1:15

    Multipart songs - Sutartinės (from the word sutarti – to be in concordance) is a form of polyphonic music performed by female singers in north-east Lithuania. The songs have simple melodies, with two to five pitches, and comprise two distinct parts: a meaningful main text and a refrain that may include nonce words. There are almost forty different styles and ways of performing Sutartinės. Mainly, they can be performed by two singers in parallel seconds; by three singers in strict canon, all performing both phrases of the melody at staggered intervals; or by two groups of singers, the lead singer of each pair singing the main text, while the partner sings the refrain, before the second pair repeats. The poetic texts encompass many themes, including work, calendar rituals, weddings, family, wars, history and moments of daily life.

    Multipart songs are on the UNESCO's representative list of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

    A lil about us:
    Sisters, twins, dwarfs, twini mini...and many other names are used to call these girls Dovilė and Jovilė from Lithuania. At first glance they might seem identical - like two drops of water, nevertheless, they are very different from each other with very warm personalities. Their early childhood was full of music which inspired them and led them spending most of their time on the stage. After many years of practicing and doing what they love, sisters finally decided that it’s time to swim deeper into the ocean. They participated in a few singing competitions, also they tried their best in a well known television singing project “The Voice of Lithuania”. Although it didn’t succeed and their life as singers wasn't going the way they wanted, their passion for music and singing didn’t fade, only grew bigger. During these times, the twins went through life with optimism and still kept trying to reach their goals. Stop wishing, start doing. - the quote which inspires them to pursuit their dreams. “All that you need is to know what you want in life and then sooner or later you will start attracting things you need to make your dreams come true.”
    Now twins are grown up, but you still can see that childish optimism and positiveness which helps them to see the world wider. Their goal of life is simple – to be Happy. Music takes a huge part of their life, but there are more aims: To travel around the world as much as possible, to help and be a volunteers in international organizations such as Emmaus, to try new things and create challenges, learn about new cultures and their food, to meet different people from all over the world, to share their stories, experiences and happiness with others.

With worldwide sales likely over 8 million, including shipments of three million copies in the United States and over one million in Germany and in the United Kingdom each, the song has become one of the best-selling singles of all time.

    Chamber pop chorus of Indigo from Lithuania was created specifically for the TV project Choir Wars (Chorų karai) in early 2013. The initiator of the choir is Vytautas Matuzas - which is popular Lithuanian rapper, winner of various competitions and festivals. He is the so-called General of the Indigo choir, manager and one of the soloists. The main part of the musical work (arrangements, producing and choirmaster work) is done by the participants in the famous Lithuanian male a cappella ensemble Quorum - Vitalij Neugasimov, Marius Turlajus, Gintautas Skliutas, Romanas Savickas, and sound engineer, arranger and studio producer Marius Matulevičius. Choreographer of the choir - a talented dancer Paulius Šinkūnas, work stand, designer of haircuts and beautician Justina Gružauskaitė, Evelina Vlasovaitė, Sandra Jurgelionytė and Sandra Didžiokaitė.

    In the team were gathered young and promising singers with a varied taste in music. From the first performance given the jury of the project and many of the audience recognized the Indigo as favorite show. At various times during the project being on the leading position, the choir of Indigo finished second out of seven choirs participating, second only to the choir of Kaunas (in the final of the commission did not have the right to vote, voted only viewers, and city Panevežys, who represented the Indigo had to give way to much bigger population of Kaunas.) However, many experts have recognized that the quality and variety of arrangements, in choral sound and vocal data soloists, choir of Indigo should rightly be called the true winner of the project. To date, the chorus of Indigo - one of the few teams that continue to work at the end of the Choir Wars. We successfully performed in various cities of Lithuania, the choir are invited to participate in television programs. The team is preparing to release a CD recording new songs for the radio, in parallel preparing a new program for the recital.

    Kondja mia is a Jewish Sephardi song from the repertoire of Jewish community that settled down in Turkey after the expulsion from Spain in 1492

    After the expulsion of Spanish Jews, Jewish communities moved to settle throughout the Ottoman Empire who accepted them and allowed them religious freedom.
    The 15th century Spanish continued to be present but mixed with other languages.
    In this song there is Turkish influence by using words from Turkish language and by playing in rhythm (11/8) that is mainly characteristic of traditional Turkish music

    The song is sung by a young man that suffers the torments of love and swears he would never fall in love again. He is captivated by the charm of his dark-skinned lover who broke his heart.

    canción sefardí antigua en Ladino. / Sephardic Judeo Song / traditional Jewish Sephardic music.
    Canciones Sephardies de Turkey. Judeo-Español - Canción tradicional Sefardí

    ~~~ About Ladino / Sephardic language ~~~
    Ladino, otherwise known as Judeo-Spanish, is the spoken and written language of Jews of Spanish origin. Ladino was consolidated as a specifically Jewish language after the expulsion from Spain in 1492, when it came into contacts with Turkish and other Balkan languages, and adopted a massive vocabulary from Hebrew. It is also known as Judezmo, Dzhudezmo, or Spaniolit.
    When the Jews were expelled from Spain and Portugal they were cut off from the further development of the language, but they continued to speak it in the communities and countries to which they emigrated. The further away from Spain the emigrants went, the more cut off they were from developments in the language, and the more Ladino began to diverge from mainstream Castilian Spanish. Ladino therefore basically reflects the grammar and vocabulary of 15th century Spanish, but has heavy Hebrew and Turkish components.
    You saved me from the deepest blue
    I saved you from you
    The empty spaces
    Your love replaces
    I never want to feel again
    In your room here with arms around me
    Holding tight we cannot deny this
    I can hear so much in the silence
    So alive, the temperture is rising
    Summer rain soaking into my skin
    Wash away everything before you
    Say the words that you've never spoken
    We can be anything we want to
    I breath you in my oxygen
    I feel the heat as you lay by my side
    The air that is getting me high
    I breath you in my oxygen
    Your love like a flame that I burn through the night
    Your oxygen keeps me alive
    I breath you in my oxygen
    I feel the heat as you lay by my side
    The air that is getting me high
    I breath you in my oxygen
    Your love like a flame that I burn through the night
    Your oxygen keeps me alive
    Lets do things we'd never do
    I'm not afraid to fly
    We're not human if we've not been broken
    But out of this comes beautiful
    In your room here with arms around me
    Holding tight we cannot deny this
    I can hear so much in the silence
    So alive, the temperture is rising
    Summer rain soaking into my skin
    Wash away everything before you
    “Senču balsis” ir bungu un dūdu mūzikas grupas Auļi jaunā koncertprogramma, sadarbībā ar māksliniekiem no dažādām pasaules valstīm. Auļi ir devušies pasaulē, lai satiktos un iepazītos ar dziedātājiem, kuri pārstāv senas un neparastas dziedāšanas tradīcijas un tehnikas. Šoreiz uzmanība pievērsta jaudīgām vīriešu balsīm, kas raksturo kādu reģionu. Skaņdarbos pazīstamu izpildītāju dziedājums no ģeogrāfiski atšķirīgām vietām ir sapludināts ar Auļu latviešu muzikālajās tradīcijās balstīto spēcīgo instrumentālo mūziku, radot iespaidīgu pasaules mūzikas programmu.
    Kā pirmo koncerta viesi Auļi atklāj rīkles dziedātāju no Mongolijas Batzorig Vaanchig. Lai saglabātu intrigu, pārējie 3 mākslinieki tiks atklāti pakāpeniski.
    “Esam iepazinuši vairākus senu dziedāšanas tradīciju pārstāvjus, noskaidrojuši kā šīs balsis sasaucās ar bungām un dūdām, kā arī kā tās skan kopā ar latviešu tautas dziesmām.
    Aicinām jūs auļot kopā ar mums šajā aizraujošajā un krāsainajā ceļojumā!”
    Auļi
    “Voices of the Ancestors” is a new concert programme by the drum and bagpipe group Auļi in collaboration with musicians from various countries around the world. Auļi have travelled far and wide to meet singers representing ancient and unusual singing traditions and techniques. This time the group has focused on powerful men’s voices that characterise a specific region. Performances by well-known singers from various geographical regions merge with the Auļi’s powerful instrumental music based in Latvian traditional music, creating an impressive programme of world music.
    Auļi’s first guest in concert is Mongolian throat singer Batzorig Vaanchig. In order to preserve the intrigue, the names of the other three musicians will be announced in due time.
    “We’ve become acquainted with several representatives of ancient singing traditions and discovered how these voices meld with drums and bagpipes as well as with Latvian folk songs. We invite you to come along with us on this exciting and memorable journey!”
  • Queen - Show Must Go On | Indigo Choir
    4:05
    The Show Must Go On is a song by the English rock band Queen, featured as the twelfth and final track on their 1991 album Innuendo. It is credited to Queen, but written primarily by Brian May. The song chronicles the effort of Freddie Mercury continuing to perform despite approaching the end of his life; he was dying from complications due to AIDS, although his illness had not yet been made public in spite of ongoing media speculation claiming that he was seriously ill. Mercury was so ill, and could barely walk, when the band recorded the song in 1990, that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it. Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; he went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal.
    Subscribe to Indigo Choir official channel:
    It was released as a single in the United Kingdom on 14 October 1991 in promotion for the Greatest Hits II album, just six weeks before Mercury died. Following Mercury's death on 24 November 1991, the song re-entered the British charts and spent as many weeks in the top 75 (five) as it did upon its original release, initially reaching a peak of 16. A live version with Elton John on vocals appeared on Queen's Greatest Hits III album.
    The song was first played live on April 20, 1992, during The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, performed by the three remaining members of Queen, with Elton John singing lead vocals and Tony Iommi playing rhythm guitar. It has since been played live by Queen + Paul Rodgers with Rodgers citing one of the performances as the best of his career. Since its release, the song has appeared on television, film, and has been covered by a number of artists.
    Chamber pop chorus of Indigo from Lithuania was created specifically for the TV project Choir Wars (Chorų karai) in early 2013. The initiator of the choir is Vytautas Matuzas - which is popular Lithuanian rapper, winner of various competitions and festivals. He is the so-called General of the Indigo choir, manager and one of the soloists. The main part of the musical work (arrangements, producing and choirmaster work) is done by the participants in the famous Lithuanian male a cappella ensemble Quorum - Vitalij Neugasimov, Marius Turlajus, Gintautas Skliutas, Romanas Savickas, and sound engineer, arranger and studio producer Marius Matulevičius. Choreographer of the choir - a talented dancer Paulius Šinkūnas, work stand, designer of haircuts and beautician Justina Gružauskaitė, Evelina Vlasovaitė, Sandra Jurgelionytė and Sandra Didžiokaitė.
    In the team were gathered young and promising singers with a varied taste in music. From the first performance given the jury of the project and many of the audience recognized the Indigo as favorite show. At various times during the project being on the leading position, the choir of Indigo finished second out of seven choirs participating, second only to the choir of Kaunas (in the final of the commission did not have the right to vote, voted only viewers, and city Panevežys, who represented the Indigo had to give way to much bigger population of Kaunas.) However, many experts have recognized that the quality and variety of arrangements, in choral sound and vocal data soloists, choir of Indigo should rightly be called the true winner of the project. To date, the chorus of Indigo - one of the few teams that continue to work at the end of the Choir Wars. We successfully performed in various cities of Lithuania, the choir are invited to participate in television programs. The team is preparing to release a CD recording new songs for the radio, in parallel preparing a new program for the recital.
  • Jurgis Did ft. Obelija - Rolling Waves LIVE @ ZIP FM
    3:29
    —// lyrics //--
    I hear rolling waves pounding in my head…
    Sing a song for me from long ago
    Braids of velvet sound that swell and flow
    Who’s to say this tune is yours or mine
    Whispers that transcend the test of time
    I hear rolling waves pounding in my head…
    Songbird sing a song that we all know
    Where you learned that tune, you don’t even know
    Written in the wind and on the waves
    Whisper ‘tween your ears that don’t behave
    — // about // —
    Songs are meant to be sung. We take them for granted as they blare out our speakers and ooze through our earbuds, but often forget that the original journey of a song was very different from what we know today. A song begins as intention. A whisper in our subconscious. An emotion that takes the shape of sound. It rolls off of your vocal chords, fills a space, weaves itself with other sounds, and returns through your ears. The song is repeated. It evolves. Other people catch the contagion and begin to sing it. It comes back to the origin and grows more, but by then it is no longer belongs to anyone. It belongs to everyone who has a voice and is not shy to sing it. It then takes up residency in the collective consciousness waiting to be summoned.
    Before audio recordings and speakers, people were sound systems. Before woodwork and electronic engineering, our minds and bodies were our instruments. Before sheet music and mass communication, songs traveled on lips. Before radio stations and playlists marked the pace of your daily routine, the songs in our heads were the soundtrack of our lives. Evolution is neither good nor bad, but music is a sublime activity that we are not enjoying as much as we could, simply because we are partaking less in music than ever before. Songs are meant to be sung.
    “Rolling waves” is an experiment in interpersonal connection and collective artistic expression. It is intended to remind us of the ritual of music. It is a spell that requires people to perform the incantation together. It is a song that invites you to sing - find a voice; a note or a phrase, and play with it for the sake of interaction. It encourages you to listen to others, become aware of the sounds that they are emitting and conscientiously tune yourself to the surroundings. It encourages you to sing with others and find a space amongst other voices. It is a reminder that it is in our nature to be intimately musical; that we can bask in a state of musicality rather than just consume it passively.
    This song is also about ethnic roots, cultural heritage, and emigration. On February 16th, 2018 Lithuania celebrates 100years of statehood, an auspicious occasion to consider what culturural and patriotic affiliations mean to us. I personally believe that this sort of identity is something that belongs to the people rather than the state and its institutions. But if the people want to own it, we need to seize it, and practice it.
    Lithuanians were in the past a “singing people”. We found joy, strength, and connection through our songs and dances. We’d like to explore what shape those traditions can take in a modern context. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Lithuanians living in California and hardcore connoisseurs of traditional songs to create a mix that reflects the times we live in and can travel well beyond Lithuania’s borders. Its no coincidence that it sounds a bit like the “Beach Boys” took a trip on a Lithuanian “Kaimas”.
    We believe that engaging in this song can help the participants reconnect with that “something” beyond the threshold of conscious memory; “something” old and deep.
    There are countless “Lithuanians” who have rolled across the globe during the numerous waves of emigration. Their offspring still have faint recollections and emotional footnotes that remind them of their heritage. This song is great way for them, and particular those on the outer fringe of the community to reconnect with their roots, with others, and with the memory of something magical from long ago.
  • Lithuanian State choir Vilnius - Šlapia daina in Belarus
    3:37
    State choir Vilnius is one of the most mature and strongest choirs in Lithuania. It is the innovative, flexible, creative, highly artistic and one of the most prominent concert groups of today’s Lithuania, which raised a number of talented professional singers and prepared dozens of programmes. The choir develops activities mindful of the Lithuanian culture by offering the audience the most beautiful moments of choral music performance. In cooperation with the famous Lithuanian performers, the choir annually organises more than 70 concerts, where one can hear the works of different styles from all the eras: from the tunes of the ancient music to the popular dissonance chimes and complex modern music.
    Since the beginning of creation of the choir, the group has been directed by Rimantas Zdanavičius (1970-1976), Antanas Jozėnas (1976-1992), Jurijus Kalcas (1992-2001), Povilas Gylys (2001-2015), and as of 2015 by Artūras Dambrauskas. Fifty professional singers, who completed the choral conducting and choral singing studies, are singing in the choir. The vocal singing skills are taught by Asta Krikščiūnaitė, the laureate of the national award, while the pianist Dainius Jozėnas accompanies the choir during the concerts.
  • Al Jolson - My Old Kentucky Home
    3:23
    A Note: He left out the word darkies, that was in the original Foster lyrics. Al Jolson (May 26, 1886 -- October 23, 1950) was a Lithuanian born singer, comedian and actor. He was famous for performing black-face.
    My Old Kentucky Home (originally titled Poor Uncle Tom, Good Night!, and sometimes also titled My Old Kentucky Home, Good-Night!)
    is the state song of Kentucky. It was published by Stephen Foster in 1853 and was adopted by the Kentucky General Assembly as the official state song on March 19, 1928.
    The song describes a scene of life on a slave plantation. The abolitionist Frederick Douglass believed the song was sympathetic to slaves.
    In 1986, the Kentucky General Assembly adopted a version unlikely to cause offense in which the original word darkies was changed to people.
    The first draft of My Old Kentucky Home appeared in Stephen Collins Foster's workbook under the title Poor Uncle Tom, Good Night.
    It was published in 1853 by New York's Firth, Pound, and Company
    According to folklore, Foster was inspired to write the song when, while traveling from his home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to New Orleans, Louisiana, he stopped in Bardstown, Kentucky to visit his cousins, the Rowan family, and saw their magnificent Federal Hill mansion.
    However, while Foster's trip to New Orleans is well-documented, his stop in Kentucky was very brief. Steamboat passenger manifests prove he was only in the Louisville area for a period of a few hours, not enough time to travel to Bardstown.
    Also problematic is that the lyrics refer not to a mansion, but a little cabin. Also, Foster's trip took place in 1852, after the first draft of the song had already been written.
    Foster's only documented trip to Kentucky occurred in 1833 when his mother took him to visit relatives in Augusta and Louisville, however Foster did not travel to Bardstown due to a cholera epidemic in the area at that time.
    Most scholars believe that Foster was inspired by Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel Uncle Tom's Cabin, which was published in 1851
    My Old Kentucky Home is sung annually at the Kentucky Derby with the accompaniment of the University of Louisville marching band.
    The University of Kentucky, in Lexington, also plays My Old Kentucky Home prior to each home football game and at the conclusion of its basketball games.
    During the playing at the conclusion of the game, it is a tradition for the fans and cheerleaders to remain silent until the band plays the final verse (Weep no more my lady) and to hold their right hands with index fingers extended to signify the number 1. Former Kentucky Governor A.B. Happy Chandler sometimes led the singing of My Old Kentucky Home at both University's games and recorded a live version with the University of Kentucky Marching Band.
    Blackface is a form of theatrical makeup used in minstrel shows, and later vaudeville, in which performers create a stereotyped caricature of a black person. The practice gained popularity during the 19th century and contributed to the proliferation of stereotypes such as the happy-go-lucky darky on the plantation or the dandified coon. blackface minstrel shows were the national art of the time, translating formal art such as opera into popular terms for a general audience. Early in the 20th century, blackface branched off from the minstrel show and became a form in its own right, until it ended in the United States with the U.S. Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. The Netherlands continues to celebrate St. Nicolas Eve with Zwarte Piet in full blackface Moorish costume.
  • Martynas Kuliavas Netikėti prisilietimai
    2:30
    Savo naujajam sumanymui „Netikėti prisilietimai“ („Undiscovered Sensations“) MartynasKuliavas pasikvietė sutartinių giedotojų ansamblį „Ūtara“. Atsigręždamas į šį archajiškos polifonijos žanrą, šaknimis siekiantį proistorės glūdumas, gitaros meistras, dainų ir įvairių stilių muzikinių improvizacijų kūrėjas Martynas Kuliavas tarsi įžengia į svetimą erdvę, uždarą ir dar nepažintą Amžinojo moteriškumo žemę. Sutartinės giedojimas reiškia ne šiaip sau pasidainavimą, bet apeiginį veiksmą, tikint, kad garsas ir tolyn sklindantis balsas turi magiškų galių. Sutartinė neturi aiškios pradžios ir pabaigos, nei ritmo, nei įprastos dinamikos, - ji taki ir monotoniška kaip upės srovė. Jos mįslė, intravertiškas judėjimas ir hipnotizuojantis stereo skambesys, subtiliai įpintas į Martyno Kuliavo kūrybą, žadina improvizacinio eksperimento arba erotiško „netikėto prisilietimo“ geismą.
    Kartu su tarptautine muzikantų grupe: pianistu Aurelijum Ščiuka, boso gitaristu graiku Evangelos Oikonomou ir būgnininku Mike Horne iš Pietų Afrikos Respublikos, gitaros meistras Martynas Kuliavas iš gilios užmaršties prikelia sutartinių instrumentinę tradiciją, kai vyrai, atitardami moterų giedojimui, pūsdavo ilgas dūdas ar ragus, skudučiuodavo ir kankliuodavo. Tik senąją tradiciją čia keičia šiuolaikiškoji – tai fusion, roko, bliuzo, džiazo ir džiazroko stilistika paremti Martyno Kuliavo netikėti muzikiniai prisilietimai.
    Koncertų datos:
    Balandžio 5 d. 18 val. ŠEDUVOJE, kultūros ir amatų centre
    Martynas Kuliavas and friends at the Undiscovered Sensations concert
    Arts Libera International continues introducing the unique concerts of high artistic level to the Lithuanian audience. This time, art lovers will be invited to hear the creative inspirations of famous Lithuanian guitar player and composer Martynas Kuliavas.
    For his new project called Undiscovered Sensations, Martynas Kuliavas invited an ensemble of multipart singers Ūtara. Rediscovering this genre of archaic polyphony originating in prehistory times, guitar virtuoso, composer of songs and musical improvisations of various styles Martynas Kuliavas as if is entering the unfamiliar space, closed and undiscovered land of Eternal womanhood. Multipart singing is more than mere signing, it is a ritual act believing that sound and voice echoing across the lands have magical powers. Multipart signing has no distinctive beginning and ending, no rhythm, no usual dynamics – it is flowing and monotonous like a river. Its mystery, introverted movement and hypnotising stereo sound, subtly entwined into the creation of Martynas Kuliavas, are awakening passion for improvisational experiment or erotic 'undiscovered sensation'.
    Together with the international group of musicians: pianist Aurelijus Ščiuka, boss guitar player Greek Evangelos Oikonomou and drum player Mike Horne from the South African Republic, guitar virtuoso Martynas Kuliamas is reviving deeply-forgotten instrumental tradition of multipart signing, when men accompanying women singing were blowing long pipes or horns, playing old Lithuanian wind instrument Skudučiai and chordophones. But this old tradition this time is replaced with the modern one – Martynas Kuliavas' undiscovered musical sensations based on fusion, stylistics of rock, blues, jazz and jazz-rock.
    We are inviting everyone who loves professional and quality art to grasp the opportunity to see the concert, and to book tickets in advance. With the concert approaching, the price for the tickets will rise.
  • Abstraal & Teenage Mutants - Broken Smiles feat Jim
    5:04
    Abstraal & Teenage Mutants feat Jim - Broken Smiles (Family Piknik Music) Stream / Download on all platforms :
    Including remixes by Popof, Justin Cholewski, Teenage Mutants & Wet Sunset.
    One year after their first release on Family Piknik Music ('The Ancient One’), French duo ABSTRAAL is back with a massive dancefloor weapon. 'Broken Smiles’ is a team work with famous german pair TEENAGE MUTANTS (Stil vor Talent, Terminal M...) and French songwriter / singer JIM (known for his vocal collaborations with LKF Project released on Bog & Agoria’s labels).
    Abstraal has grown a lot these past months through many collaborations, releases and remixes. Building a solid profile, the boys have caught the attention of many playlist diggers, labels and A-list DJs. Hot from their recent remix for Outcome and their strong collaboration with Pontias on Jannowitz Records, Abstraal is now ready to deliver his strongest release to date.
    Broken Smiles’s original version is a modern crossover Dance anthem with a minimal approach, sparkling synths and a dark atmosphere turning into an epic odyssey after the break. Vocals are perfectly dived into this moody instrumental, while trancy synths progressively add a bit of tension. Teenage Mutants own rework offer a totally different energy, somewhere between Detroit Techno and Chicago House, with an addictive old-school organ hook as key element. 5 stars remix is delivered by French techno master Popof. Form music label boss and experimented producer-remixer (from Hot Chip & Chemical Brothers to Umek, Julian Jeweil, Robert Babicz and many others) showcases his best Acid influences with a driving techno treatment and a mind-blowing atmosphere during the break. Tension is absolutely mad and these synth notes will have many ravers losing their mind for sure. Here’s an other monster remix from this living legend ! Justin Cholewski is also part of this massive release. After his brillant remix for Patrick Topping & Kevin Saunderson (Armada), Lithuanian producer drops a fat kick before playing with dramatic synths and developing a wild and rolling acid-techno monster.
    The EP ends with an alternative version produced by JIM himself. French singer offers an alternative indie-dance rework he has produced as part of Wet Sunset, one of his latest musical projects. Very different from the other remixes, this version takes us on a musical road-trip, full of surprises. An oriental flute answers to some raw synths and post-disco drums, balancing with the vocal elements from the original cut.
    ----- BROKEN SMILES (LYRICS) --------
    You come to me with broken smiles
    But you come with love
    You come to me with viper eyes
    But you come with love
    You come to me with your darkest side
    But you come full of love
    All I do is pretend that I don’t admire you
    All I do is pretend that I don’t desire you
    But I do desire you
    I’m way beyond the point of no return
    And if I die tonight
    I’ll die in your (velvet) arms
  • Anna Szałucka : The Musicians Company #MiddayMusic
    14:13
    Anna Szałucka joined the Musicians' Company Young Artists' Programme after she won both our Harriet Cohen Bach Prize and Maisie Lewis Young Artists' Fund award in 2015. Here she performs Three Preludes by Gershwin and Clair de Lune by Debussy.
    Anna writes:
    Hello, welcome and thank you for joining us! My name is Anna Szałucka and I'm currently working at The #RoyalAcademyofMusic in London. Before the lockdown I was performing mainly around Europe cooperating with The National Fryderyk Chopin Institute, Wiener Beethoven Gesellschaft, The Arthur Rubinstein International Music Foundation, The Musicians' Company as well as BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4, Classic FM and Polish Radio among others. Main competition prizes included the 1st Prize together with four Special Awards at the 3rd Tallinn International Piano Competition, The Musicians' Company – Harriet Cohen Bach Prize, 2nd Prize and the Audience Prize at the Sheepdrove Intercollegiate Piano Competition as well as the 3rd Prize at the Sussex International Piano Competition. Most recently I released a debut CD with Naxos, celebrating Polish music of the 20th century.
    Today you will hear beautiful music which hopefully will bring some joy into your homes. I'll be playing Three Preludes by George Gershwin followed by the famous Clair de Lune from Suite Bergamasque, written by Claude Debussy. I'm currently in Kaunas (Lithuania) where I spent most of my Summer. I played a few concerts here which - regardless of the quarantine regime - were like a breath of fresh air after the months of lockdown. In July I performed at the Kaunas Piano Fest which this year focused on the theme of Litvak composers. Litvak is the term describing citizens of Lithuanian-Jewish origins which was the heritage of Gershwin's family tree. The funky Preludes will take you into the world of jazz and syncopations. Clair the Lune with its impressionistic harmonies presents a soothing contrast and lets us immerse in the world of serene imagination.
