Close My Eyes Forever is a duet by Lita Ford with Ozzy Osbourne from Ford's 1988 album Lita and later remixed and released as a single titled Close My Eyes Forever (remix) in 1989, with the single only differing from the album version in sound quality editing. The song was written by Ford and Osbourne as the result of an accident in the studio during which they both drank heavily and inadvertently wrote the lyrics to the song together.

Not Strong Enough is a song by Finnish rock band Apocalyptica. The song is the third single from their seventh studio album 7th Symphony. The song features Brent Smith of Shinedown on lead vocals.

Gimme Shelter is the opening track to the 1969 album Let It Bleed by the Rolling Stones. Greil Marcus, writing in Rolling Stonemagazine at the time of its release, praised the song, stating that the band has never done anything better. Stone Sour covered the song on their EP Straight Outta Burbank... with female vocals performed by Lzzy Hale of Halestorm.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1968 double album The Beatles (also known as the White Album). It was written by George Harrison, the band's lead guitarist. The song serves as a comment on the disharmony within the Beatles following their return from studying Transcendental Meditation in India in early 1968.

Bring the Noise is a song by the American hip hop group Public Enemy. It was included on the soundtrack of the 1987 film Less Than Zero and was also released as a single that year. In 1991, Public Enemy recorded a new version of Bring the Noise in a collaboration with the thrash metal band Anthrax.

Feel Good Inc. is a song by British virtual band Gorillaz, featuring American hip-hop group De La Soul. The song was released as the lead single from the band's second studio album Demon Days on 9 May 2005.

Walk This Way is a song by the American hard rock band Aerosmith. Written by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, the song was originally released as the second single from the album Toys in the Attic (1975).

Under Pressure is a song by the British rock band Queen and singer David Bowie. Originally released as a single in October 1981, it was later included on Queen's 1982 album Hot Space.

  • Top 10 Norwegian Metal/Rock Bands

    12:25

It seems that the internet thinks Norway only makes black metal, so I made this video to show the world we got some great bands in the slightly less black genre as well! Despite of this, I really didn't feel like I had a choice for my #1. I found no way around it :)

The way I rated these bands is of course a bit subjective, but I tried my best to take into account things like originality, stage performance, skill, and the general feeling of who deserved it based on what I know of their careers. I've played in a metal band for 8 years, if that counts for anything. The 3 songs I chose from each band are naturally some personal favorites, but also an attempt to capture the bands expression as a whole by the songs represented. An impossible task of course, but one may try.

I do not own anything; not soundstracks, nor photos. This is merely a tribute, and a little proud nationalism as I am sharing it to the world.

  • Spirals in Music

    12:49

In this video I look at Spirals and Circles in music. Are they things you can really hear? I think so, and I give a bunch of different examples where I think they are very audible, from The Nine Inch Nails album 'The Downward Spiral' through to Sibelius's 5th Symphony. I also look at circles in traditional 'rounds', Finnish folk music, and (contraversially) in John Coltrane's Spiral! Finally I look at Andrew Norman's recent orchestral piece 'Spiral'.

You flew in from the dawn
Such a sight when you came into view
    You stretched your white wings

    Swan, my swan
    Before dawn breaks

You flew in from the dawn
Such a sight when you came into view
    You whispered softly
    Youthful caress

    Dive, heat my blood
    Swan, my swan
    Before dawn breaks

    Bring out my yearning

Beginning with late 70s music and reaching prominence with 80s music and new wave, keyboards and synthesizers were important for the hits of the 70s and the hits of the 80s when bands such as The Who, Rush, Boston, Joy Division, Van Halen, and Journey used amazing keyboard riffs on their songs Baba O'Riley, Subdivisions, Foreplay/Long Time, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Jump and Separate Ways (Worlds Apart).

    iTunes/Google Play:

    Join the BBE Mailing List:
    find out more || facebook.com/bbemusic || twitter @bbemusic

Dalindèo is a Finnish jazz-sextet founded and led by composer/guitarist Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen in 2003. Their music is a cinematic jazz creation reminiscient of the ambience of movies by Finnish great Aki Kaurismäki mixed with a Tarantinoesque vibe of danger and suspense. With musical influences ranging from Duke Ellington's swing jazz to surf-guitars à la Dick Dale, all in a setting inspired by Finnish popular music from the 1950's, Dalindèo have created a contemporary Finnish jazz-style of their own.
In 2013 Dalindèo released their third album Kallio in Finland on the Suomen Musiikki-label. The album won the prize of Best Jazz Album of 2013 at the Emma-Awards, the Finnish Grammys. A musical hommage to the Kallio-district in Helsinki, it debuted on the Finnish album-chart at number 13, one of the highest ranking jazz albums of all time and stayed on the chart for 6 weeks.
We at BBE are very proud to present Kallio to a wider, international audience. Especially for the worldwide release on BBE the band added an exclusive unreleased bonus track to the album and BBE family-member Mr Bird did a brilliant remix of the track “Rhythm of Kallio”. As a live act Dalindèo has gained a reputation as a tight and energetic performer. The band's interplay is as tight as ever after 150+ gigs in Finland and 12 other European countries. Dalindèo's line-up includes some of Finland's top jazz musicians: leader Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen (guitar), Pope Puolitaival (sax), Jose Mäenpää (trumpet), Pekka Lehti (double-bass), Rasmus Pailos (percussion) and Jaska Lukkarinen (drums). The line-up has stayed the same throughout the years and as this brings depth unachieved by session-musicians to the band's interplay.

  • Ma, Hes Making Eyes At Me - Ray Conniff! 1080p #ProfHowdy

    1:1:15

Ma, He's Making Eyes At Me alternatively sung as Ma, She's Making Eyes At Me is a famous song published in 1921.

The lyrics are by the American composer and comedian Sidney Clare and music was by American songwriter and producer Con Conrad.

Some of the earliest recordings are those by The Benson Orchestra of Chicago and Ted Lewis & his Orchestra both in 1921. Later recordings include Dick Robertson & His Orchestra released in December 1939 on Decca Records with the B-side She Had to Go and Lose It at the Astor. Soon after the Merry Macs made a recording released in February 1940 again on Decca records with B-side as Breezin' Along with the Breeze followed by Riley Puckett in October 1940 on Bluebird Records with Walking My Baby Back Home as B-side.

The Greek-American singer Johnny Otis had a hit with it after including it in his album The Greatest Johnny Otis Show featuring Marie Adams on the tune Ma, He's Making Eyes At Me. The single credited to Johnny Otis & His Orchestra with Marie Adams & The Three Tons of Joy. released on Capitol Records, charted in the British Singles Chart peaking at number 2 in November and December 1957.

The song became the title track of a similarly titled debut album by child singer Lena Zavaroni as Ma! (He's Making Eyes At Me). Lena Zavaroni's version was also released in the United Kingdom on Philips Records reaching number 10 on the British Singles Chart in February 1974. Zavaroni, just turning ten, also sang it live on American network television on the The Tonight Show hosted by Johnny Carson. The song also reached number 91 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The song has been interpreted by a great number of artists including Ann-Margret; Tina Arena; Pearl Bailey; Count Basie Orchestra; Eddie Cantor; Carol Channing; Ray Charles; The Ray Conniff Singers; Bing Crosby; Cliff Ukulele Ike Edwards; Etta Jones; Oscar Peterson.

Tina Arena recorded it on her album Tiny Tina and Little John, Al Hirt on his album Beauty and the Beard, Yusef Lateef on his album The Three Faces of Yusef Lateef etc.

The song has been translated into a number of languages. It was sung in Finnish as Mamma, tuo mies minua tuijottaa by Brita Koivunen. In 1957, it was released in Norwegian as Mamma, en karl har sett på mej by Lill Babs, Simon Brehms orkester and in 1962 also in Norwegian as Mamma, vad det är kul med twist by Inger Berggren, Hans Wahlgrens orkester. - Wikipedia

Kanae Nozawa, who enchanted the Finnish audience last year, is again in Helsinki! The wide-ranging program of this concert includes, for example, Japanese pieces and Nozawa’s originals. The lovable Japanese erhu musician performs with the renowned composer Tamiya Terashima (e.g. the Studio Ghibli film “Tales from Earthsea”) and pianist Maki Furugaki, and Finnish musicians will make appearances as well (e.g. Senni Eskelinen, kantele, and Niko Pihlaja, guitar).

The very expressive sound of the erhu (sometimes called “the Chinese violin”) is often encountered in film and videogame music even in the West. Despite its very long historical roots, the instrument has attracted audiences worldwide in very versatile uses. The appealing fusion of world music, Japanese sounds and pop songs encountered in Nozawa’s original music is a fitting example of the versatility of the erhu.

    ________________________

TARJA NAKED, VULNERABLE BUT AGGRESSIVE LIKE NEVER BEFORE
ON HER BRAND NEW ALBUM “IN THE RAW”.

TO BE RELEASED ON AUGUST 30th, 2019 ON earMUSIC.

As the saying goes, not all that glitters is gold. But then again, not all that is gold necessarily glitters. It was this idea that struck Finnish singer Tarja Turunen as she began work on her seventh solo album, “In The Raw”.

“Gold, we think, is something polished and perfect, sophisticated, a luxury – but in its natural state it’s a raw element”, explains Tarja. Just like the music on her upcoming album: a combination of sophisticated and refined orchestration, choir and her classically trained voice with a raw, dark heavy musical core. Simply put, “In The Raw” is a gold-plated work of wonder.

Three years on from her last album, 2016’s “The Shadow Self”, “In The Raw” finds Tarja and her beautiful voice sounding, as ever, truly stunning. Working with many of the same musicians and production team as before, the intention was to bring out the idea of rawness to match the feelings Tarja was having from the very beginning of the process.

The album finds Tarja going to raw, personal places in her lyrics. Opening herself up more than ever before, she says she was left feeling naked by her honesty, but also pleased at where she had gone with her words.

The first look at the album, the brand-new song “Dead Promises”, is all this and more. Matching the stunning power of Tarja’s voice with a thunderous guitar, the aggression she speaks of is brought to the front, not threatening to shatter something fragile, but reinforcing its power. “I really like how the guitar sounds: in your face,” she says. “If I’m singing powerfully, I need something powerful behind me so that I don’t feel like I am left alone.”
Fans will find that the album includes a different version of the song with guest vocals by Björn “Speed” Strid of Soilwork.

The concept of gold and its raw state extends to the album’s artwork. In start, here we find Tarja in St Michael’s Cave, Gibraltar, framed in vivid colour and golden sheen.

“In The Raw” will be released on August 30th, 2019 on earMUSIC as CD Digipak (limited print run including hardcover O-card), 2LP+Download, Limited Box Set and Digital.

Album pre-order available on Rockshots Records at

Italian Christian power prog metal band S91 will be unleashing their sophomore album “Along The Sacred Path” on March 22, 2019, via Rockshots Records. The album follows their 2016 debut full length “Behold The Mankind”, which was a concept release about the history of humanity from the point of view of Christian theology. That album was produced by Cristiano Bertocchi (Labyrinth, Vision Divine, Wind Rose) with mastering done by Simone Mularoni (Domination Studios). Received well by critics and audiences, the debut opened doors for the band to tour across Italy and abroad, including a performance at the latest edition of “Elements Of Rock” (Switzerland), the largest Christian metal festival in Europe.

The band explains their sophomore full length:

“‘Along The Sacred Path’ is a concept album that traces the history of Christianity, continuing the narrative from “Behold The Mankind”. The story is told through the life of some key figures that are not always considered positive by everyone. The main goal is to show how the Gospel message has spread in its original form, becoming the fabric of modern Western society. Scrolling through the track listing, you will see that all the characters are of European origin.”

    S91 are:
    Maria “Marì” Londino: Lead Vocals
Francesco “Franz” Romeggini: Guitars, Lead/Backing Vocals
    Giacomo “Jack” Manfredi: Bass
    Francesco “Frank” Londino: Keyboards
Giacomo “Giachi” Mezzetti: Drums and Percussions, Lead/Backing Vocals

Finnish A-list guitarist Mikko Kosonen called me up one morning and told me he had bought a Keeley Electronics effect pedal that was highly inspiring. Mikko had written a new song using the pedal in question and he now wanted to try every Keeley pedal available.

In Mikko’s view a pedal is an instrument, too, just like a guitar. An effect should give something back to the musician and bring out music along with it. The technical details of pedals or their “vintage authenticity”, on the other hand, do not really interest him.

Mikko was eager to tape Dogma-style videos of every available Keeley effect. The idea was that he would play each effect for the first time with the camera rolling. He wanted the pedal to inspire the direction his improvisation would take, instead of carefully planning each video’s musical content beforehand.

VIDEO SHOOT DAY arrived. Mikko knew he had to pick up his children from day care in the afternoon, but we would try to record as many clips as possible before he would have to leave.

Mikko had spent his previous day in a TV-studio. The man was tired, but clearly used to perform under any conditions. We managed to get a whopping 18 videos in the can!

We were using a sort of “shotgun method” to tape our videos. We selected an effect pedal, hooked it up and then we set our camera and recording equipment on “record”.

The resulting videos are full of aural excitement, with a good taste of danger, some mistakes and a few surprises thrown in.

We used the three cameras we could find at Custom Boards HQ for our shoot.

All guitar parts were recorded going through a Kemper profiling amp connected to an audio interface and then straight onto hard-disk. We used the Vox AC30 profile that comes with the Kemper. We didn’t use ambient mikes or additional reverb – all the sounds you’ll hear come straight off the Kemper. Neither audio nor video have gone through additional editing or processing, instead they have been left raw, staying true to our Dogma ethos.

The first six videos from our shoot were published in October 2017 and they got very inspired reception in Finland. Next batch of editing took a while, but here they are.

Total of 18 videos with the man and his guitar struggling through effects he has never seen before, thinking what to play, twisting wrong knobs and doing lots of things that a ”normal” user would never found from these pedals.

I really do admire Mikko’s attitude.

A less experienced guitarist would have become jittery in the knowledge that the videos would be shared on YouTube, especially as he didn’t know what to expect when stepping on the pedal for the first time.

But it is exactly this fearlessness that makes these video so interesting and fun to watch.

    *Biography
    Parents-
Florin and Nineta Cristea, as kids growing up in Romania and coming from a very religious background, the odds being the parents if a heavy metal band living in Los Angeles are astronomical. Twenty years and five kids later, the dream/nightmare continues...
Forever branded as the black sheep of their family and church, they have dedicated their lives to their kids and their musical dreams.

Sam - There are very few shredding guitar players who can do the moon walk as good as Sam. His early days as a street performer being a Michael Jackson impersonator, he honed his ability to entertain the crowd. He's currently the brains of all Liliac's video productions.

Aby - Before she was introduced to music she was a quiet reserved student focused on math and astronomy with dreams of some day traveling to Mars. After discovering Roger Taylor, the drummer from the band Queen, Aby put all her efforts to study drum in classic rock and metal music. Today she is one of the hardest hitting female drummer in Los Angeles, CA

    Melody -
Melody is the lead vocalist and bass player in the band Liliac. She has come a long way from her days of singing Titanic in the shower getting ready for school.
Although she was influenced by many singers, it wasn't until she discovered Ronnie James Dio that her life was changed forever.

    Ethan -
The eleven years old Ethan is the second guitar player for the band Liliac.

    Justin -
Justin is the youngest member of the band and the family...
After years of piano lessons, Justin has decided stand up comedy is much more rewarding.
Unfortunately, getting out of the band is like getting out of the mafia!!!
