Johnny Nash - I Can See Clearly Now

    2:46

I Can See Clearly Now is a Billboard Hot 100 Chart #1 hit song, written and recorded by Johnny Nash. It was a single from the album of the same name and achieved success in the United States and the United Kingdom when it was released in 1972. It was covered by many artists throughout the years, including a 1993 hit version by Jimmy Cliff, who re-recorded it for the motion picture soundtrack of Cool Runnings, where it reached the top 20 at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100.

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
    Sun-Shiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I've been prayin for
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
    Sun-Shiny day.

Look all around, there's nothin but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
    Sun-Shiny day.

Johnny Nash - Rock Me Baby

    4:28

John Lester Johnny Nash, Jr. (born August 19, 1940) is an American pop singer-songwriter, best known for his 1972 hit, I Can See Clearly Now. He was also the first non-Jamaican to record reggae music in Kingston, Jamaica

    Lyrics:
    Say, say, say....
Rock me, rock me, rock me, baby
Rock me out here on the floor
Rock me, rock me, rock me, baby
Rock me till I want no more

Oh that sweet, sweet reggea music playin'
The smell of perfume fills the air
    The moon is right,
    come hold me tight
    Ooh let's dance, romance
While we still have the chance

    Come on, come on
Rock me, rock me, rock me, baby
Rock me out here on the floor
Rock me, rock me, rock me, baby
Rock me till I want no more

There is a feeling of love deep inside me
This heart of mine is pounding in my brain
I feel the fire, I feel desire
    Ooh let's dance, romance
While we still have the chance

    Come on, come on
Rock me, rock me, rock me, baby
Rock me out here on the floor
Rock me, rock me, rock me, baby
Rock me till I want no more

Rock me, rock me, rock me, baby
Rock me out here on the floor
    Come on, come on
Rock me, rock me, rock me, baby
Rock me till I want no more

And when the night is through
I still be here with you
And the music will go on and on

    Come on,
Rock me, rock me, rock me, baby
Rock me out here on the floor
    Come on, come on
Rock me, rock me, rock me, baby
Girl, rock me till I want no more

    Lyrics

    Doing our best
    Struggling along
    Just like the rest
And there are times when you need me
    And I need you too
    Come on, let's be friends
    Let's be friends
    Together we stand
    Divided we fall
    We are for one
    One is for all
Aren't we just people who need people
    Hey hey hey
    Let's be friends
    Oh yeah
    Let's be friends
    We'll be good
    We'll be bad
    Sometimes happy
    Sometimes sad
    But that's alright
    Come on let's be friends
    Come on come on
    Let's be friends
    We'll be good
    We'll be bad
    Sometimes happy
    Sometimes sad
    But that's alright
    Let's be friends

Johnny Nash - Tears on my pillow 1975

Johnny Nash - Tears on my pillow 1975

    I can't take it
    I'm so lonely
    Gee I need you so

    I can't take it
    And I wonder
    Why you had to go

    But Baby (Baby),
Every night I wake up crying
    Tears on my pillow
    Pain in my heart
    You on my mind

I remember all the good times
    That we had before
Oh I remember and now my heart
My very soul cries out for more

    But Baby (Baby),
All your love for me is dying
    Tears on my pillow
    Pain in my heart
    You on my mind

    I'll always remember that day
    You promised to love me
You said you'd love me to the very end
    And I'll never forget
I'll never forget when you walked away from me
You walked out of my life to my very best friend

    ooooohhhhhh
    Baby (Baby),
Every night I wake up crying
    Tears on my pillow
    Pain in my heart
    You on my mind

    Yeah
    Tears on my pillow
    Pain in my heart
    You on my mind

I got tears on my pillow
    Pain in my heart
    You on my mind

    Ooh I can't take it
    Girl I'm so lonely
    You on my mind

    Oh Yeah Yeah
I got tears on my pillow

    Johnny Nash - Loving You

    2:46

Texas-born Johnny Nash had 12 songs hit Billboard's Hot 100 chart during his career. Of those 12, 6 hit the Top 40, which includes his only #1 song (I Can See Clearly Now in 1972). Nash even had 11 songs hit the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. Released in 1974, Loving You only got as high as #91, but did hit #40 on the Billboard Soul/R&B chart. This was Nash's final Hot 100 entry, a mid-tempo Reggae tinged tune that deserved a better chart fate.

    Johnny Nash - Closer

    3:36

His first single came in 1957 when he went to #23 with A Very Special Love. 1969's Hold Me Tonight was his second Top 40 single when it peaked at #5. Nash's biggest hit was his #1 hit, I Can See Clearly Now, and his last Top 40 single. Her final Billboard Hot 100 entry was 1974's Loving You, which went to #91 (but did make it to #40 on the Billboard Soul/R&B Singles chart). 1979's Closer was Nash's final single entry on any Billboard chart. That song only got as high as #74 on the Billboard Soul/R&B Singles chart. If you can get past the excessive in the beginning and toward the end, this song is worthy of a listen. This comes from the original vinyl 45.
