    Lyrics:
You’ve got nowhere to go today
Cause home is where you’ve got to stay
But now’s the time to find the new
It’s time to reset me and you
It’s time to reset all we do

    You got the quarantine blues
    But Ya should be happy
    You got the quarantine blues
    You got ta hit restart
    You got the quarantine blues
You got ta find a new you
You got the quarantine blues baby
    You know what to do
    Come on

You got to hit restart today
Reset your heart and mind I say
Times are changing me and you
Let’s birth the new for real and true
It’s time to reset all we do

    You got the quarantine blues
    But Ya should be happy
    You got the quarantine blues
    You got ta hit restart
    You got the quarantine blues
You got to find a new you
You got the quarantine blues baby
    You know what to do
    Come on

    The universe is calling you
Go deep inside your mind today
The love you find will set you free
It’s time to reset you and me
It’s time to reset all we see

    You got the quarantine blues
    But Ya should be happy
    You got the quarantine blues
    You got ta hit restart
    You got the quarantine blues
You got to find a new you
You got the quarantine blues baby
    You know what to do
    Come on

The futures in our hands right now
    Love will show you how
Just listen to the cosmic verse
It’s time to change and reset earth
Reset your soul in love’s rebirth

  • John McLaughlin - This Is Not Like Other Approaches

    16:53

This John McLaughlin lesson is an analysis of his solo on the F blues Take The Coltrane. What you will see is that his approach to creating lines is often very different from the usual ways that we use scales and arpeggios and think about melodies that move from chord to chord. In this solo his use of chromaticism, shifting melodies and longer melodic stretches is extra-ordinary and really worth checking out.

John McLaughlin is among the musicians who invented what we call fusion today. He is known for his extra-ordianry technique, and for mixing jazz with both Spanish and Indian folk music. He has worked with everybody from Miles Davis to Jaco Pastorious and Carlos Santana.

But he also has a strong grasp of more mainstream jazz and in this video I am going to take a look at some parts of his solo on Take The Coltrane, which is a Blues in F.

This recording is from an album with Elvin Jones and Joey DeFrancesco where McLaughlin is exploring the Organ trio concept. An album which has a lot of material inspired by John Coltrane.

Both musicians have been regulars at Montreux across the years but this was the first time they headlined their own concert together. The show features most of the tracks from their classic 1973 album Love Devotion Surrender mixed in with a wealth of other material. The evening was a showcase of supreme musical virtuosity and spirituality and typified the approach of these two great artists. It is certainly a performance not to be missed.

    Be Happy

One of fusion's most virtuosic guitar soloists, John McLaughlin placed his blazing speed in the service of a searching spiritual passion that has kept his music evolving and open to new influences. Whether shredding on electric or simmering quietly on acoustic, McLaughlin's intensity and under appreciated versatility have nearly always kept his playing vital, and his best moments -- whether as a solo artist or band member -- represent some of fusion's greatest recordings.

American guitarist Jimmy Herring is a musician's musician. The North Carolina native has been playing guitar for close to 40 years and exhibits signs that he's just getting started. A staple in the Jazz Fusion and Jam Band scene, Herring studied guitar at Berklee College of Music and the Guitar Institute of Technology. His playing style melds the influences of Jimi Hendrix's raw emotion, the twang of Steve Morse, and the flowing phrases of jazz legends Charlie Parker and John Coltrane.

In addition, McLaughlin talks about his use of effects: Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic, MXR Carbon Copy Delay, and a MXR Stereo Chorus. Even a guitar pick can't be overlooked, during his 2010 tour McLaughlin was using a Dunlop Jazz 3 picks, but he would scrap down the pick to get a better grip and playability.

    Summary:
A guitar trio was originally formed in 1979 with McLaughlin, Lucia, and Larry Coryell. After touring Europe and releasing a video recorded at London's Royal Albert Hall, Coryell was replaced by Di Meola. The bulk of Friday Night in San Francisco, this trio's first album release, was recorded at the Warfield on the night prior to the one when this recording was made. It is clear here why they chose to use that recording, as all three virtuosos are at the top of their game.

  • John McLaughlin — The 60s Recordings

    1:4:21

John Mclaughlin is considered one of the world’s greatest guitarists and fusionists. The fact that Jeff Beck (a guitarist’s guitarist) considers him the world’s greatest living guitarist, would warrant McLaughlin being called a “guitarist’s guitarist’s guitarist”.

Before the release of his debut album Extrapolation in 1969, McLaughlin was a voracious session musician and collaborator, with a rapidly developing knowledge of modern jazz, hard bebop and of course R and B, playing in anything that interested him musically, and also doing the standard rhythm guitarist stint for around 15 months in a variety of different popular music settings to maintain income in 60’s London.
Some of the tracks presented are absolute gems, and show just how far John Mclaughlin had come along both technically and musically, even before the release of his debut. It also shows his good taste; he seemed to gel and stick to the best musicians around him at the time (mid to late 60’s).

This compilation presented here is for educational purposes, and no copyright infringement is intended. If you feel a copyright has been breached, let me know, and I will take down this video. I hope you all enjoy it.
