    Note From Joe:

This song is about my path out of the darkness of drug addiction and alcoholism. The message is that there is a way out and a new life waiting in recovery that is good. The first step is to ask for help. The included links are a good place to start. I'm doing this because if it helps 1 person - it was worth it. It's by giving back that we receive and I am eternally grateful for my sobriety and my life today.

Joe Walsh - Life Of Illusion

    3:34

It's hard to know what he really meant when he wrote Life of Illusion. I think that many of us, at times, have had an unrealistic view of our lives. We may live in an illusion or have an illusion of how our lives should be. And just when we think everything is going our way, Pow, right between the eyes, life comes up with a surprise to wake us up. And at times it seems like crisis after crisis. Joe Walsh was a solo artist and also a member of the Eagles band. He wrote and recorded this song in 1981 after the breakup of the Eagles.

The Eagles - Rocky Mountain Way Live

    7:35

    Spent the last year
    Rocky mountain way(DC)
    Couldn't get much higher
    Out to pasture
I think it's safe to say
    Time to open fire
And we don't need the ladies
Crying 'cause the story's sad, oh yeah
    'cause the rocky mountain way
Is better than the way we had
    Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
    Rocky mountain way, oh
    Well he's tellin' us this,
    He's tellin' us that,
    Changin' it everyday
    Say's it doesn't matter
Bases are loaded and casey's at bat
    Playin' it play by play
It's time to change the batter
And we don't need the ladies
Crying 'cause the story's sad, so sad
    'Cause the rocky mountain way
Is better than the way we had
    Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
    Rocky mountain way
And we don't need the ladies
Crying 'cause the story's sad, so sad
    'Cause the rocky mountain way
Is better than the way we had
It's better than the way we had
It's better than the way we had
    So much better
    So much better
    It's so much better
    It's so much better
    Rocky mountain way

Why Joe Walsh Doesnt Defend Don Felder

    5:18

In this video I look into some of the obvious reasons for this. The bottom line is the Eagles or a corporation and money for touring is very lucrative. I mean Live Nation charges a ton for parking so that would probably cover Joe Walsh's salary and more.

Track 2 from his third solo album “So What” released in 1974 copyright ABC Dunhill Records. The album received average reviews but I’d say it was one of his best, achieving Gold status within a month. It reached No. 11 on the Billboard album chart. Written by Joe Walsh & Don Henley and produced by Joe Walsh, John Stronach & Bill Szymczyk. RIP Dan Fogelberg & Glenn Frey. Featuring:

    Makin' no deposit, no return
Makin' the same mistakes, we never learn
All of the pain in those faces tryin' not to show concern
Spent and broken like a worn-out subway token
    In the city

Hangin' in the closet, wait in line
When you go by the laws, you pay the fine
I'm burnin' the candle at both ends, twice the light in half the time
Down to crawlin', feel like fallin'
Oh, and yes, the rain doesn't have to hurry in the city
    Falls sadly to the ground
Rain doesn't have to worry in the city, only way to fall is down

    Fallin' down

But still you're running in a race that can't be won
Aiming hard to fill the spaces when they're gone
In worn-out shoes with no laces, gettin' too loose to stay on
Back to crawlin', feel like fallin'
Oh, and yes, the rain takes its time to fall in the city
    Falls sadly to the ground
Rain kinda says it all in the city, only way to fall is down

    Fallin' down, fallin' down
    Fallin' down, fallin' down
Fallin' down (fallin') fallin' down (fallin' down)
(In the city) fallin' down (fallin' down) fallin' down
Fallin' down (fallin' down) fallin' down (fallin' down)
Fallin' down (fallin' down) fallin' down (to the ground, ground, fallin' down)
(In the city) fallin' down (fallin' down, down) fallin' down (fallin' down)
Fallin' down (fallin' down to the ground, ground, fallin' down) fallin' down
(In the city) fallin' down (fallin' down, down) fallin' down
Fallin' down (Fallin' down down to the ground, ground) fallin' down

Joe Walsh Walk Away LIVE with Lyrics in Description

    3:18

Track 1 from You Can't Argue With A Sick Mind (Recorded Live) released in 1976. This was Joe's only live album , recorded just before he joined the Eagles. I consider it one of his best because of the phenomenal band he assembled from some of the best musicians of the day. Written by Joe Walsh. Recorded from the original vinyl. RIP Rocky Dzidzornu & Glenn Frey. Featuring:

Joe Walsh - Lead vocals, slide, lead & rhythm guitars & talkbox
    Special Guests:
Don Felder - Lead & rhythm guitars & vocals
Jay Ferguson - Piano & background vocals
David Mason - Organ & electric piano
    Willie Weeks - Bass
Joe Vitale - Drums, percussion, organ, flute & background vocals
Andy Newmark - Drums & percussion
    Rocky Dzidzornu - Percussion
Glenn Frey - Background vocals on Help Me Through the Night
Don Henley - Background vocals on Help Me Through the Night

Takin' my time, choosin' my line
Tryin' to decide what to do
Looks like my stop, don't wanna get off
Got myself hung up on you
Seems to me you don't wanna talk about it
Seems to me you just turn your pretty head and walk away

Places I've known, things that I'm growin'
Don't taste the same without you
Got myself in the worst mess I've been
And I find myself startin' to doubt you
Comes the day, talk all night, here comes the mornin'
Come what may, you just forget what we said and greet the day

I got to cool myself down, stompin' around
Thinkin' some words I can't name ya
Guess it's OK, got nothin' to say
    Still I don't s'pose I can blame ya
Seems to me you don't wanna talk about it
Seems to me you just turn your pretty head and walk away

    Yeah, walk away
    Walk away
    Walk away

Takin' the time for dreams, off to waste the day
    Plungin' headlong, yeah
Nothin' is what it seems, only just a word that was said wrong
Takin' the time for dreams, feelin' lazy

And you know there ain't as many as there was a while ago
I said there isn't any goin' down slow
Start to feel the load when they don't care, no
    Worry your days away
What's the hurry when you're travelin' down a road goin' nowhere?
Travelin' down the road 'cause the woman drives me crazy

And she can't be bought with money, yes, she's easy on my mind
She thinks my jokes are funny
Makes me feel fine, yes, she does now
Keeps me in line just because now
    She makes me feel fine

Well, if you can, try to teach them things that they don't know, yeah
Give 'em a helpin' hand, make them see the things there that don't show
Give 'em a helpin' hand 'cause we're wastin' time

And no matter what they say now, well, we don't have very long
Just a dream away, you can come along
    Alright, alright now
She makes me feel fine, whoa-oh-oh
