Doug Seegers performs his own song Going Down To The River.
Clip taken from Swedish TV show Jills veranda.

Title: Going Down To The River
    Lyrics & Music: Douglas Seegers

I'm going down to the river to wash my soul again
I've been runnin' with the Devil and I know that he's not my friend
I've been falling by the wayside livin' in this world of sin
I'm going down to the river, gonna wash my soul again

I'm going down to the country to bury my head in the creek
I'm gonna jump into that water, baptize both my feet
'Cause everywhere I've been walking I've been getting in trouble deep

I'm going down to the river, gonna wash my soul again
Well, this whole world's going to hell in a handbasket
If I don't get some resurrection soon I'm gonna end up in a casket

I'm going down to the river to wash my soul again
I've been runnin' with the Devil and I know that he's not my friend
I've been falling by the wayside livin' in this world of sin
I'm going down to the river, gonna wash my soul again

I'm going down to the river, gonna wash my soul again
I'm going down to the river, gonna wash my soul again

  • Julie Roberts - The Chance

    4:07

I found a book that my mama kept
    Filled with secrets she hid
And in a dusty old attic, one mornin' I read
About a woman I never met
    Who had dreams like mine
With every page I turned, the words came alive
Wish I could roll out of town like a run-away train
I'll do as I dare, let them call me insane
I'll never sit on the sidelines of life, I'll dance every dance
If I just had the chance
A tear fell on that faded page
    'Cause this was somebody else
Not the mama I knew who never thought of herself
But the times, they were different then
And lines just didn't get crossed
And these words that she wrote, they somehow got lost
Wish I could roll out of town like a run-away train
I'll do as I dare, let them call me insane
I'll never sit on the sidelines of life, I'll dance every dance
If I just had the chance
The chance that she never had
Is now the gift that is mine
And our here on this road, I'm makin' up for lost time
Yeah, I am my mother's child
As I roll out of town like a run-away train
I'll do as I dare, let them call me insane
I'll never sit on the sidelines of life, I'll dance every dance
While I still have the chance
I'll never sit on the sidelines of life, I'll dance every dance
While I still have the chance

  • Wolfmother - Joker & The Thief | Live @ JBTV

    5:45

Wolfmother, Australia's biggest rock band whose music went international with their 2005 EP Wolfmother, stopped by JBTV Studios. They rocked our live Chicago audience playing their hit Joker & the Thief also off Wolfmother (Modular Records). The trio played with an intensity that has made their live shows sell to packed houses. Andrew Stockdale's vocals and guitar screech in the likes of other great rockers circa 1970. Accompanied by bassist Ian Peres and drummer Vin Steele, Wolfmother encapsulates fundamental rock and roll.

Watch Wolfmother rock out Joker & the Thief here on JBTV live and sign along with the lyrics.

I said the joker is a wanted man
He makes his way all across the land
I see him sifting through the sand
So I'll tell you all the story
About the joker and the thief in the night

He's always laughing in the midst of power
Are we living in the final hour
There is always sweet and sour
So we are not going home

Can you see the joker flying over
As she's standing in the field of clover
    Watching out everyday
I wonder what would happen if he took her away

What you see well you might not know
You get the feelin' comin' after the glow
    The vagabond is moving slow
So I'll tell you all the story
About the joker and the thief in the night

All the people that you see in the night
Hold their dreams up to the light
The wilderbeast is searching for sight
And we are not going home

Can you see the joker flying over
As she's standing in the field of clover
    Watching out everyday
I wonder what would happen if he took her away

I said the joker is a wanted man
He makes his way all across the land
See him sifting through the sand
So I'll tell you all the story 'bout the joker and the thief
I said, I'll tell you all the story 'bout the joker and the thief
I said, I'll tell you all the story 'bout the joker and the thief
    In the night

    Lyrics:
That night I hit rock bottom sittin’ on an old barstool
He paid my tab and put me in a cab – he didn’t have to
But he could see I was hurtin’, oh I wish I’d got his name
I didn’t feel worth savin’ but he saved me just the same

And that day out on the water when the fish just wouldn’t bite
I put my pole down, floated around – it was just so quiet
I could hear my old man... sayin’ son just be still
You can’t find peace like this in a bottle or a pill

From a bar stool, to that Evinrude
sunday mornin’ in a church pew
In a deer stand or a hay field
    an interstate back to nashville
In a Chevrolet with the windows down
me and him just ridin’ around
yeah sometimes...whether i’m lookin’ for him or not
    That’s where I find God

Sometimes late at night, I lie there and listen
To the sound of her heart beatin’ and that song the crickets are singin’
    And I don’t know what they’re sayin’
But it sounds like a hymn to me
Naw I ain’t too good at prayin’
    But thanks for everything

From a bar stool, to that Evinrude
sunday mornin’ in a church pew
In a deer stand or a hay field
    an interstate back to nashville
In a Chevrolet with the windows down
me and him just ridin’ around
yeah sometimes...whether i’m lookin’ for him or not
    That’s where I find God

From a bar stool, to that Evinrude
sunday mornin’ in a church pew
In a deer stand or a hay field
    an interstate back to nashville
In a Chevrolet with the windows down
me and him just ridin’ around talkin’... well i do that a lot, well i do that a lot
Cause that’s where I find God

    ????Marry Your Daughter

    Sir, I'm a bit nervous
    'Bout being here today
Still not real sure what I'm going to say
    So bear with me please
If I take up too much of your time
See in this box is a ring for your oldest
She's my everything and all that I know is
It would be such a relief if I knew that we were on the same side
'Cause very soon I'm hoping that I...

    Can marry your daughter
    And make her my wife
I want her to be the only girl that I'll love for the rest of my life
And give her the best of me 'til the day that I die, yeah
    I'm gonna marry your princess
    And make her my queen
She'll be the most beautiful bride that I've ever seen
    I can't wait to smile
When she walks down the aisle
On the arm of her father
On the day that I marry your daughter

    She's been here every steps
Since the day that we met (I'm scared to death to think of what would happen if she ever left)
So don't you ever worry about me ever treating her bad
I've got most of my vows done so far (so bring on the better or worse)
And 'til death do us part
There's no doubt in my mind
    It's time
    I'm ready to start
I swear to you with all of my heart...

    I'm gonna marry your daughter
    And make her my wife
I want her to be the only girl that I'll love for the rest of my life
And give her the best of me 'til the day that I die, yeah
    I'm gonna marry your princess
    And make her my queen
She'll be the most beautiful bride that I've ever seen
    I can't wait to smile
As she walks down the aisle
On the arm of her father
On the day that I marry your daughter

The first time I saw her
    I swear I knew that I'd say I do
    I'm gonna marry your daughter
    And make her my wife
I want her to be the only girl that I'll love for the rest of my life
And give her the best of me 'til the day that I die
    I'm gonna marry your princess
    And make her my queen
She'll be the most beautiful bride that I've ever seen
    I can't wait to smile
As she walks down the aisle
On the arm of her father

  • Bryan Ferry - Dont Stop The Dance

    4:21

Bryan Ferry - Don't Stop The Dance, Roxy Music & Bryan Ferry, album More Than This (The Best of Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music), 1995
Bryan Ferry initially found music success with the group Roxy Music. Formed in 1970, Ferry fronted the band which he co-founded, and went on to achieve 10 UK top 10 hit singles and 11 UK top 10 albums (of which 4 were UK Number 1s).
1973 saw Bryan Ferry launch the beginnings of his solo career alongside Roxy Music's group projects. From this time up until the present day, he has continued to go from strength to strength, achieving great success with his solo endeavours as well as with Roxy Music.
Described as one of most innovative and distinctive singers and lyricists to emerge in popular music Ferry's sophisticated, elegant and glamorous on stage persona has won him fans around the world. His vocal genius is said to lie in his peerless ability to merge musical styles from french chanson, through to classical crooner to hard edged rock.
Imprinting his own style into his recordings and performances successfully is reflected in his recognition as a highly successful solo artist in his own right; he has achieved great success with 5 top 10 UK chart singles as well as 10 UK chart top 10 albums (including the Number 1s Boys and Girls (1985) and Street Life, (1986). Ferry has also won critical acclaim, most notably, his 2001 Grammy Nomination for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for 1999's As Time Goes By.

  • Episode 89-78 of Jesus Solid Rock with Jerry Bryant, a Christian music radio show from 1978

    39:48

Episode 89-78 of Jesus Solid Rock with Jerry Bryant, a Christian music radio show that ran from 1972 through 1976, was syndicated from 1976 through 1982, and continued as a local program on WCIL in Carbondale, Illinois from 1983 through 1995. From the label on the record, this show likely aired on Dec 31, 1978.

Jerry Bryant currently has a new show, that plays on stations around the country and also is available as a podcast. Check it out at

This recording is from a vinyl LP that would have been sent to a radio station, and usually would have been returned after airing the show. I picked this up on eBay, and have it to share with all of you.

This show, from 1978, is from the early years of Jesus music, when it was not typically available as the main format on most radio stations. It was offered to stations to play in order to fulfill the then FCC requirement for religious programming.

The songs featured on this show include the following, as well as an interview with Kelly Willard. Sadly, copyright restrictions require that some of the songs be clipped:

Intro music - Prelude by Harvest Flight
(I'm) Anchored In The Rock of Ages - Gary S. Paxton
    You! - Keith Green [clipped]
    Bringin' The Message - Messenger
Blame It On The One I Love - Kelly Willard [can't figure out why they didn't require this one to be clipped...]
** interview with Kelly Willard (age 22 at this time) **
Dad Song - Kelly Willard [clipped]
You Are My Life - Albrecht, Roley & Moore
    Sorry - Phil Keaggy Band

Beyond The Blues - Jimmy Hotz
Cosmic Cowboy - Barry McGuire [clipped]
    Merry-Go-Round - Terry Clark
Strong Love - John Pantry [clipped]
Jesus Came Into My Life - Benny Hester
    Waves - Resurrection Band [clipped]
Walking In The Light - Amy Grant [clipped]
Outro music - Prelude by Harvest Flight

    Chip chow, cherry chow,
    Faldee radle day!

While sailing once our Captain, who was a jolly dog,
Served out to all our company, a double whack of grog.
Ben backstay he got tipsy, all to his hearts content,
And he being half seas over, right overboard he went.
    [x2] Right overboard he went

    (Refrão)

A shark was on the starboard bow, and sharks no man can stand
For they do grapple everything, just like your sharks on land.
We heaved Ben out some tackling, to give his life some hope
But as the shark bit his head off, he couldn't see the rope.
[2x] He couldn't see the rope

    (Refrão)

Without a head his ghost appeared, all on the briny lake,
He piped all hands ahoy and cried, Lads warning by me take
By drinking grog I lost me life, and you my fate you meet
So never mix your liquors lads, but always take it neat.
[2x] But always take it neat

    (Refrão)

  • In the Mood by OBryant, Manone, Garland performed by Jan and michael hermiston

    1:40

(good speakers, or earphones are suggested to hear the bass)
my dad used to play big band tunes on his sax and clarinet in his teenage years... my sister Jan, (who plays a fine fiddle) has recently taken up piano, had the idea to play this classic and asked if i'd add some horns etc. Happy 88th Birthday Dad
fyi: some of you might be wondering at the songwriting credits...
if you have a listen to the 1925 tune, Clarinet Getaway by the O'Bryant Washboard Band

and then the 1930 tune Tar Paper Stomp by Wingy Manone

you can easily hear the origins of the 1939 classic, In the Mood
