  • Tuba Skinny, The Full Set @ Jazz aux Sources, Châtel-Guyon, May 20th, 2018

Le Festival de Swing à Danser, Jazz aux Sources a 20 ans, Châtel-Guyon, May 18 - 21, 2018, was blessed in many ways. The weather couldn't have been better, blue skies, sun, still not too hot. People gathered in great numbers to enjoy performances of all kinds, as well as dancing in the streets and floors or attending dinners to live music. One band, Tuba Skinny from New Orleans, touring Europe, graced this charming little, old spa town of Châtel-Guyon, some 110 miles west of Lyon, France, with a 3-day stop-over. There must be ways for everyone who loves this music to repay Tuba Skinny for all the joy they shower us with. Either get their CDs and vinyls, or even better, add a pilgrimage to the cradle of Jazz, New Orleans, not necessarily during French Quater Festival. Believe this is quite an accurate account of Tuba Skinny's 2nd day's performance at Parc Thermal, in the eyes, ears and mind of one in the audience, in one-go and unedited. Many Thanks to TS for letting us stay up-front and extremely close, while documenting this once in a lifetime event. Videographed with a hand-held SONY HandyCam FDR-AX100, in FH quality mode. Craig Flory, clarinet; Shaye Cohn, cornet; Barnabus Jones, trombone; Erika Lewis, drum, vocals; Jason Lawrence, banjo, guitar; Gregory Sherman, guitar, banjo, vocals; TODD, sousaphone; Robin Rapuzzi, washboard.

  • Relax Music - JAZZ Piano Grand-Place of Brussels | Belgium 4k 60FPS

    Grand Place Brussels
    Brussels Grand Place
The Grand Place or Grote Markt in Dutch is one of the most beautiful squares in Europe with architecture from eras of Baroque, Gothic and Louis XIV. All these eras made their marks on the square giving it an eclectic flavour. This eclectic quality earned the Grand Place a listing as one of the Sites Of World Heritage by UNESCO in 1998.

    History of The Grand Place
The Brussels Grand Place was historically a marketplace where traders and citizens traded goods. You can notice that streets surrounding the square are named after foods. Like butter (Rue au Beurre), herbs (Rue du Marché aux Herbes), cheese (Rue du Marché aux Fromages) and so forth. As the city grew, market stands gave way to grand buildings by which the Grand Place is surrounded to this day. The Maison du Roi, in French means king’s house, but the lesser used name of Broodhuis in Dutch means bread house. Most of the buildings were rebuilt or restored after the bombardment of Brussels by France in 1695.

    Atmosphere at The Grand Place
    Brussels Grand Place at night
The Grand Place is always packed with people. There are tourists and school groups during the day and during the night, people sit on the stones in small circles drinking and talking. Overlooking them is the glowing Gothic tower of the town hall (Hotel de Ville), which one may mistake for a church or a castle. It acts as a great landmark because you can see the tower from most corners of the city.

Partytime performed by the Jazz Butcher Conspiracy in Kortrijk, Belgium, 16-June-2002. I shot this while traveling with the band on their 20th anniversary tour.
This was not an 'official' gig by any means. Our host in Belgium had asked the band if they would do an afternoon show at one of his favorite haunts, and they were happy to oblige.
It was a restaurant/bar with a beautiful garden. Patrons & waitstaff mill about. It was a gorgeous summer night, and a truly lovely setting for an incredibly memorable show. Enjoy.
