  • JAN GARBAREK E HILLIARD ENSEMBLE

    3:44

Quando all'inizio del secolo scorso il
jazz fece la sua apparizione, non aveva
nome; lo stesso accadde alla polifonia
ai suoi esordi, quasi mille anni prima.
    Questi due fondamentali momenti storici
    assolutamente anonimi costituirono i
Dall'uscita
di Officium nel 1993, Garbarek e Hilliard
Ensemble hanno fatto risuonare gli spazi
acustici delle antiche cattedrali di mezza
    Europa con architetture sonore irripetibili.

    ENGLISH VERSION

When jazz first appeared, at the beginning of
the last century, it had no name. The same
happened to polyphony, about a thousand
years earlier: these two totally anonymous
    but fundamental historical moments were
the starting points of two of the most
important ideas at the basis of Western
    music: improvisation and composition.
Remarkable things can happen when one of
the greatest jazz improvisers of our times,
    Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek, meets
a sublime British vocal quartet devoted to
the interpretation and the exploration of
the polyphonic repertoire of early music
(Medieval to Renaissance). Since the release
of Officium (1993), Garbarek e Hilliard
Ensemble have made the acoustic spaces of
Europe's ancient cathedrals echo with their
    unrepeatable sound architectures.

Jan Garbarek (born 4 March 1947) is a Norwegian jazz saxophonist who is also active in classical music and world music.

Garbarek was born in Mysen, Norway, the only child of a former Polish prisoner of war, Czesław Garbarek, and a Norwegian farmer's daughter. He grew up in Oslo, stateless until the age of seven, as there was no automatic grant of citizenship in Norway at the time. When he was 21, he married Vigdis. He is the father of musician and composer Anja Garbarek.

    10:59

    Aprendimos a quererte
    desde la histórica altura
donde el Sol de tu bravura
le puso cerco a la muerte.

    Aquí se queda la clara,
    la entrañable transparencia,
    de tu querida presencia,
    Comandante Che Guevara.

    Tu mano gloriosa y fuerte
    sobre la Historia dispara
    cuando todo Santa Clara
    se despierta para verte.

    Vienes quemando la brisa
    con soles de primavera
    para plantar la bandera
con la luz de tu sonrisa.

    Tu amor revolucionario
    te conduce a nueva empresa
    donde esperan la firmeza
    de tu brazo libertario.

    Seguiremos adelante,
    como junto a tí seguimos,
y con Fidel te decimos :
    «¡Hasta siempre, Comandante!»
