  • Cut Your Piano Practice Time in Half and DOUBLE Your Results Free Webinar

Get the Supercharge Your Piano Practice Ebook + Bounuses here:

Hey, it’s Zach. In this free online piano webinar, we’re going to go over how to learn FAST on piano. These practice methods and strategies will help you (even if you’re a beginner) to maximize each second of practice time, and start multiplying your results from your practice sessions. If you want to learn piano fast, this is for you.

I’ve used these strategies consistently to eliminate the “stuck” feeling you get when you just don’t seem to be getting any better, and break through “Practice Plateaus”.
Here’s what we’ll cover in the webinar:

    1. The Shocking Thing I Found Out When I Accidentally Recorded My Practice
-I accidentally left my camera running while I was practicing… and couldn’t believe the results. I’d been a victim of what we call the “eyewitness fallacy”, and I’ll break down exactly went wrong and how to fix it.

    2. Goal Setting and Song Mapping
-Do you ever leave a practice session feeling like you just practiced a lot, but didn’t LEARN anything? This is the solution. It’s the method that the pro’s use to keep them focused on exactly what they need to be practicing and what works.

    3. Accelerated Learning Technique 1
-This technique is great for learning new melodies and drilling them into your fingers fast. Also one of my favorites for quickly memorizing sections of songs.

    4. Accelerated Learning Technique 2
-This is one of the fundamental practice methods, I use it literally every single time I practice.

    5. Accelerated Learning Technique 3
-This practice strategy is phenomenal for speeding up and polishing a section of the song.

    6. Biggest Mistakes
-If you make these mistakes none of the other strategies will work, so MAKE SURE you watch till this part of the video!

    7. Bonus Deal
-Special bonus deal for anyone who sticks around to the end of the video :)

Anyway, I challenge you to watch all the way through the video without getting distracted, and then sit down at the piano as soon as possible to go over all the techniques and actually practice them! You and I know that’s the only way to truly get results.

Here’s the link again with the special bonus deal from the end of the video:

And if you have any questions, feel free to email me

    Hey, it’s Zach.

In this free piano webinar, we’re going to go over how to learn piano scales for beginners (though you can use these same tactics even if you’re intermediate or advanced).

More importantly, we’re going to learn a Systematic Training Plan to develop smooth, fast scales with 10 minutes a day of practice. Here’s what we’ll cover in the webinar:

    1. Piano Scales Overview
-Why people have trouble learning scales and how to fix it.

    2. The Accelerated Learning Techniques
-Strategies for hitting your scales from all angles to learn in the shortest time possible.

    3. The Systematic Plan
-Crafting the strategies into a systematic, day by day plan to dominate your scales.

    4. The Single Biggest Mistake
-The mistake it seems ALL beginner’s make and how to fix it (you could be doing everything else right, and you won’t get results if you make this mistake!)

    5. Bonuses and specials
-Free bonus PDFs, as well as a special deal I have going on for a complete ebook training plan.

Anyway, I challenge you to watch all the way through the video without getting distracted, and then sit down at the piano as soon as possible to go over all the techniques and actually practice them! You and I know that’s the only way to truly get results.

  • How To Develop A Solid Foundation As A Beginner Without Holes

    Go to for practice exercises!

So I'm going to say it...Jazz Piano is EASY...but...only after you have a plan to follow. I found this out the hard way after basically searching and guessing for most of my career until I finally developed my own plan. In this episode I talk about the foundation and TREE based concepts that splits off your foundation based on your specific goals. There is not much playing and demonstrating here but I truly believe the concepts I explain are much more valuable in the long run. Enjoy!

  • How to Train Your Ears to Hear Intervals the RIGHT Way

One of the most important skills musicians need to develop is their ears. Jazz improvisation is all about having great ears so that you can play the music that you are hearing in your head.

There are a lot of things you can do to develop this, but I believe the fundamentals of ear training are a great foundation.

In this video, I talk about the most basic building block in ear training: INTERVALS. I teach you how to train your ears to recognize and sing any interval.

    [Verse 1: Troye Sivan]
    The truth runs wild
Like a tear down a cheek
Trying to save face, and daddy heart break
    I'm lying through my teeth

    This voice inside
    Has been eating at me
Trying to replace the love that I fake
    With what we both need

    The truth runs wild
    Like kids on concrete
Trying to sedate, my mind in its cage
    And numb what I see

    Awake, wide eyed
    I'm screaming at me
Trying to keep faith and picture his face
    Staring up at me

    [Chorus: Troye Sivan]
Without losing a piece of me
How do I get to heaven?
Without changing a part of me
How do I get to heaven?
    All my time is wasted
Feeling like my heart's mistaken, oh
So if I'm losing a piece of me
    Maybe I don't want heaven?

    [Verse 2: Betty Who]
    The truth runs wild
Like the rain to the sea
Trying to set straight the lines that I trace
    To find some release
    This voice inside
    Has been eating at me

Trying to embrace the picture I paint
    And colour me free

    [Chorus: Troye Sivan]
Without losing a piece of me
How do I get to heaven?
Without changing a part of me
How do I get to heaven?
    All my time is wasted
Feeling like my heart's mistaken, oh
So if I'm losing a piece of me
    Maybe I don't want heaven?

    [Bridge: Troye Sivan]
    So I'm counting to fifteen
Counting to fifteen, counting to fifteen
    So I'm counting to fifteen
Counting to fifteen, counting to fifteen

    [Chorus: Troye Sivan]
Without losing a piece of me
How do I get to heaven?
Without changing a part of me
How do I get to heaven?
    All my time is wasted
Feeling like my heart's mistaken, oh
So if I'm losing a piece of me
    Maybe I don't want heaven?

  • The Science Behind Weather Forecasting: Part 1

We’ve probably all watched the local TV weatherperson and wondered just what they do to create the forecast they give us. What equipment do they use? What kind of training do they need? How do they determine when conditions are ripe for certain types of storms, whether temperatures will rise or fall, whether or not they should break into TV programs to provide a breaking weather update? What is the science behind weather forecasting?
In this program, learn from St. Louis’ KTVI Fox2 meteorologist Chris Higgins, take a tour of his weather studio, and find out what goes into creating a forecast. The program focuses on two very different spring days of actual St. Louis weather—one with clear skies and temperatures in the sixties and one where conditions produced dangerous storms and tornadoes. How were the forecasts created? What technology was used to follow the changing weather conditions on that stormy day? What conditions forced the announcement of a tornado watch and later a tornado warning? How does Mr. Higgins read that Doppler radar and pinpoint where the tornado is located? How does he take what he has learned and translate into understandable language for every TV viewer? We’re also joined by storm spotter/storm chaser/photojournalist, George Wise who shares images and information about his role in helping Chris report the weather.

The New York Chapter of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections presents its April 2018 program:

    Presented by Gary A. Galo

Phase correction software is included with many digital audio editing and restoration programs. Stereo playback of monaural source material, both disc and tape, has multiple advantages, and phase correction software can be extremely useful for aligning the two channels prior to summing them to mono. Engineers who have specialized in transfer and restoration of pre-stereo material can easily misinterpret the Lissajous patterns produced by stereophonic recordings as a defect requiring correction. This paper examines the basics of stereophonic recording, the phase relationship of the two stereo channels created by common microphone techniques, and the need to exercise proper judgment before “fixing” something that may not be broken. This is a slightly expanded version of a presentation given at the ARSC national conference in San Antonio, TX in May 2017.

The PCM-F1 was a portable digital audio recording system introduced by Sony in 1981. Though originally marketed as a consumer product, the PCM-F1’s excellent audio quality and affordable price made it far more popular in professional audio circles. This portable digital processor encoded digital audio onto a video carrier for storage on Beta-format video cassettes. Most users chose Sony’s matching SL-2000 Beta recorder. The PCM-F1 digital processor was not equipped with a digital audio output, making it undesirable for transferring these recordings to modern digital formats. Sony subsequently manufactured F1-compatible digital processors with S/PDIF digital outputs, including the PCM-601 ESD. This paper outlines a procedure for transferring PCM-F1 digital recordings using a PCM-601 ESD processor and a stand-alone digital recorder. Practical solutions to the four issues facing anyone transferring PCM-F1 recordings will be covered, including: the non-standard 44.056 kHz sampling rate, the 50 µSec /15 µSec preemphasis curve, the inter-channel time delay, and DC offset. The presentation explains how a stand-alone digital recorder easily solves the first two problems, and how the remaining two can be addressed with most computer-based digital editing programs. This is an expanded version of the presentation to be given at the ARSC national conference in Baltimore, MD in May 2018.

  • #125 - Tom Barton - The Biggest Problem Investors Have is Things Change...and They Dont Change

To see links or read the transcript of the episode, visit us at:

In Episode 125, we welcome famed short-seller and early stage investor, Tom Barton.

We start by going way back, after Tom graduated from Vanderbilt. He walks us through his early career experiences which helped him sharpen his business analysis skills, as well as his operational skills. He developed a great understanding of different industries, yet also what it was like to actually work in them. This was the foundation for the short-selling career that was soon to begin.

In 1983 Tom went to work for a wealthy Dallas family, and in the process met one of the original fraud short-sellers, nicknamed “The Mortician”. Tom knew nothing about stocks at that point, but under the guidance of his new mentor, realized that his analytical skills aligned perfectly with sniffing out short-selling candidates. He reasoned “isn’t it easier to spot something that’s going to fail than be certain on something that’s going to succeed?” He then began digging into the research, and finding slews of fraudulent companies.

What follows is an incredibly entertaining story-after-story of the various frauds Tom sniffed out (and made money on). There was a company claiming it could change the molecular composition of water… one deceiving customers about building-restoration after fires… a biotech claiming it could cure HIV… By the time 1990 rolled around, Tom’s returns were over 80% and he had generated a couple billion dollars.

There’s a great bit in here about “The Wolf of Wall Street” (Stratton Oakmont). Tom is the guy who took them down. Related, the “Wolf” himself snaked an apartment out from underneath Meb a few years ago out here in Manhattan Beach, CA. The guys share a laugh over this.

Eventually the conversation morphs from short-selling to when Tom’s strategy changed to going long. It involves managing money for George Soros, and some of Tom’s early long winners.

This dovetails into how Tom got into biotech, which is where he’s spending lots of time today. Tom tells us about his introduction into gene therapy, then successes with the company Intrexon. He talks us through some small companies he’s been a part of that have already sold for huge paydays…for instance, one purchased by Novartis for $9B.

This is a must-listen for any short-sellers, market historians, private investors, and biotech investors. And Tom’s most memorable trade is a doozy. This one involves buying puts for a hundred and something thousand dollars…which he sold for $13M.

These details and far more in Episode 125.
