    LYRICS

Times are changing for the worse
    Gotta keep a positive outlook
Growing up in such violent times
Have some faith and you'll get by

Thinking back when I was a kid
Times have changed so much since then
All grown up I gotta do for myself
I refuse to depend on anyone else

Life's hard, you struggle some times
In the end I'll get what's mine
But for now I'll deal with the times
Have some faith and you'll get by

Times are changing for the worse
    Times are changing, I keep

I know my family is there for me
And without them where the hell would I be
But still I gotta try to be my own man
Make good of what I got, do the best that I can

    Lyrics:

She'll only come out at nights
    The lean and hungry type
    Nothing is new
    I've seen her here before
    Watching and waiting
    Ooh, she's sittin' with you
But her eyes are on the door

So many have paid to see
    What you think
    You're gettin' for free
    The woman is wild
    A she-cat tamed
By the purr of a Jaguar
    Money's the matter
If you're in it for love
You ain't gonna get too far

    (Oh-oh, here she comes)
    Watch out boy
    She'll chew you up
    (Oh-oh, here she comes)
    She's a maneater
    (Oh-oh, here she comes)
    Watch out boy

  • BETTER THAN A THOUSAND - Demand Independence

    2:27

    Pre-Order LP/CD & Exclusive Merch here:

Official Lyric Video for Demand Independence by BETTER THAN A THOUSAND from the upcoming re-mastered and re-issued version of their 1999 LP Value Driven - out on June 19, 2020 via End Hits Records along with a re-issue of 1997's Just One and The Complete Discography.

1997 was the year in which hardcore rediscovered itself. When the US-American legends Better Than A Thousand released their milestone Just One back then, it was the sole starting point for the resurgence of the Youth Crew and the Straight Edge movement. Acts like Kid Dynamite, Ten Yard Fight or Bane followed this path, but Better Than A Thousand remain unforgotten as pioneers. More than 20 years later, the band members release reissues of both Just One and its successor Value Driven“ together with End Hits Records, giving fans the chance to experience these immortal records in a completely new splendour.

If you want to understand the creative power behind Better Than A Thousand, you only have to look at the biographies of the individual members. Frontman Ray Cappo, as the singer of Youth Of Today, is a veteran of New York hardcore and invented Krishna Core with his band Shelter. He is also (co-)founder of the still influential hardcore labels Revelation Records and Equal Vision Records. Drummer Ken Olden and guitarist Graham Land are known as the masterminds behind hardcore punk heroes Battery. Furthermore, in the early 90s, Olden did pioneer work with Damnation A.D. for the metalcore genre, which is still flourishing today.

Better Than A Thousand were born in 1997 out of the love for hardcore. After the dissolution of Battery, Olden and Land want to continue to work together on their music. Cappo, who is at the peak of his career with Shelter, is looking for musical fulfilment away from the major label circus. The result is the eerie, intense hardcore explosion Just One, which Better Than A Thousand recorded in just five days during a one-week tour break from Shelter. You can clearly hear the efforts of his touring life in Ray’s voice. Again and again his massive vocals collapse under the strain - a circumstance that makes the record's rawness and intensity all the more apparent. The spontaneous side project quickly turns into more and Better Than A Thousand play three world tours and gigs at huge festivals within only two years. They never lose their inimitable DIY spirit during this time: Ray is not actually allowed to produce the second album Value Driven because of his contract with Roadrunner, but the band still secretly records the record in Ken's bed and bathroom and then self-releases it as a bootleg.

Guitarist and drummer Ken Olden remastered both albums for the Reissues and even recorded additional guitar tracks. Besides the regular album tracks five rare bonus songs were added. The albums are released in different versions both digitally and on vinyl (with poster and download code) and CD (limited to 500 copies). Some editions are accompanied by a 36-page fanzine that offers never before seen insights into these legendary albums and features unpublished photos and liner notes.

Disparager - Gratitude Official Acoustic Video - A BlankTV World Premiere!

Artist city, country: Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.

Artist Biography: Brooklyn, New York's DISPARAGER has always had the crazy notion that music is art and that art is never a means to an end but an end in itself.

Formed just last year, the band is an extension of frontman Chris AhKao regaining his life from personal demons and the guys' debut EP, Timeless, Ageless, is a testament to that.

Recorded with producer Jay Maas (Defeater, Bane, H2O, American Nightmare, Polar Bear Club), Timeless, Ageless is bursting with dense rawness and precision while pushing the boundaries of metal with tracks like At Least I Still Have Bon Iver -- half folk song, half crushing mix of Isis and Slayer -- and Pictures -- a time signature mindfuck the band is proud NOT to call prog rock.

As AhKao explains, the band's music is meant to showcase a refusal to settle, to compromise, to live any other life than that inspired by unwavering intent, self-expression and integrity. Because, at the end of the day, that's what DISPARAGER is all about.

About The Video: Acoustic video of Disparger's track 'Gratitude' from latest EP 'Timeless, Ageless'.

    Song Lyrics: Gratitude

The black clouds in my head
Match the smells that you dread
    As you enter my room

I would have sold it all
    From a rooftop I'd fall
    But you answered every call

And if it takes all my life
I promise you I will find a way

    Moving to the other coast
You took in a lost soul
    Careening out of control

You put me on your stage
For the wasted icons of ages
And I knew it wasn't goodbye
Cuz I've got a song to sing
    And this song is mine

And if it takes all my life
I promise you I will find a way

    To express my love
    To express my gratitude
    To express my love
    For you

Even if it takes all my life

  • Player - Baby Come Back ~ Erwin Lazaro 184

    3:43

This has been a difficult summer with the passing of my father-in-law on July 6, 2015. I typically post my cover of what I consider a “summer song” around this time. This year, I’ve chosen a heartbreaking 1977 pop ballad in “Baby Come Back” by Player. From the first note, the music tugs at the heartstrings, nostalgic of better days …

I haven’t had the chance to work on the memorial video for my father-in-law, with my children at home for summer vacation. It will be obvious when I post the memorial video in the near future.

    From Wikipedia:
Baby Come Back is a song by American rock band Player. It was released in October 1977 as the lead single from their self-titled second studio album. It was written by lead singer Peter Beckett, and J.C. Crowley. The song was their biggest single, hitting number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 10 on the soul charts, in 1978. It was the breakthrough single for the band, gaining them mainstream success, and the only number-one hit of their career.

    3:01

We've found a nice home at Gwen T. Jackson, completing our third residency working with 3rd and 4th graders in the CLC program. Our project entailed students learning about music and artists from earlier decades and sampling them to make new songs. We ultimately settled on Fly Like and Eagle, by the Steve Miller Band, as we felt the song embodied the kids aspirations to be great in life. Students were tasked to create the beat, learn and memorize lyrics, record, and ultimately perform for the camera. We had a lot of fun along the way as you'll see in the video and we even made brief cameo appearances in the video. This project was part of the school's Heritage Day celebration and their families were very proud of the work their kids put in to make it a success. Special thanks to Artists Working in Education and Milwaukee Public Schools for the funding of this project.

Who are we? The Carpe Diem band was created in 1992. For almost three decades, performing as Szymon Wydra & Carpe Diem, our music with lyrics written and sung in Polish has brought us enormous popularity and a wide audience in our homeland. Our discography contains five studio albums, several dozen of singles and videoclips in Polish, appreciated by listeners as well as by music experts and the media. We love new challenges and so this year we start a brand new project in English, whose name is a commonly understood catchphrase and our own motto, Carpe Diem. From the onset the project has reached an international range thanks to our collaboration with American and British filmmakers along with plans to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. Both of the facts were widely commented in the most significant Polish media.

It is not by accident why we are called Carpe Diem. This name embraces years of experiences thanks to which we have developed our own ideology that remains as the background of our creation. We believe that music should be far beyond sheer entertainment and that optimism, hope and joy it conveys have the power to motivate our listeners – and ourselves as well – to achieve what is most important in life, namely to follow your interests, pursue the goals you have set, make your dreams come true and simultaneously to keep on being yourself. Our biggest challenge is to create music that gets across a positive message in times dominated by a crisis of values, that is why we are not afraid to write about love, friendship, faith and ideals because they imply the essence of humanity, more and more deprecated nowadays. And seeing that we are no longer novice musicians – we have been on stage for decades – we are humble enough to perceive all the shades of reality, still we always pick those bright colours and we insist to transmit them on our albums and during our concerts. We kindly invite you to get to know our music. Carpe Diem
