The Impressions are an American music group originally formed in 1958. Their repertoire includes doo-wop, gospel, soul, and R&B. The group was founded as The Roosters by Chattanooga, Tennessee natives Sam Gooden, Richard Brooks and Arthur Brooks, who moved to Chicago and added Jerry Butler and Curtis Mayfield to their line-up to become Jerry Butler & the Impressions. By 1962 Butler and the Brookses had departed, and after switching to ABC-Paramount Records, Mayfield, Gooden, and new Impression Fred Cash collectively became a top-selling soul act. Mayfield left the group for a solo career in 1970; Leroy Hutson, Ralph Johnson, Reggie Torian (born Reginald Torian), Sammy Fenderm and Nate Evans were among the replacements who joined Gooden and Cash. Inductees into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, the Impressions are best known for their 1960s string of hits, many of which were heavily influenced by gospel music and served as inspirational anthems for the Civil Rights Movement. They are also 1998 Grammy Hall of Fame inductees for their hit People Get Ready and winners of the Rhythm and Blues Foundation's Pioneer Award (in 2000).

    Lyrics:
    God loves a lullaby
In a mother's tears in the dead of night
    Better than a Hallelujah sometimes

    God loves the drunkard's cry
The soldier's plea not to let him die
    Better than a Hallelujah sometimes

    We pour out our miseries
    God just hears a melody
    Beautiful, the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
    Are better than a Hallelujah

The woman holding on for life
The dying man giving up the fight
Are better than a Hallelujah sometimes

The tears of shame for what's been done
The silence when the words won't come
Are better than a Hallelujah sometimes

    We pour out our miseries
    God just hears a melody
    Beautiful the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
    Are better than a Hallelujah

Better than a church bell ringing
Better than a choir singing out, singing out

    We pour out our miseries
    God just hears a melody
    Beautiful, the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
    Are better than a Hallelujah

    We pour out our miseries
    God just hears a melody
    Beautiful, the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
    Are better than a Hallelujah

    Lyrics:

I will be walking one day
    Down a street far away
And see a face in the crowd and smile
Knowing how you made me laugh
Hearing sweet echoes of you from the past
    I will remember you

Look in my eyes while you're near
    Tell me what's happening here
See that I don't want to say goodbye
Our love is frozen in time
I'll be your champion and you will be mine
    I will remember
    I will remember you

    Later on
When this fire is an ember
    Later on
When the night's not so tender
    Given time
Though it's hard to remember darlin'
    I will be holding
I'll still be holding to you
    I will remember you

So many years come and gone
And yet the memory is strong
One word we never could learn
    Goodbye
True love is frozen in time
I'll be your champion and you will be mine
    I will remember you
    So please remember
    I will remember you
    I will remember you
    I will remember you
    I will remember you

  • HEARTBEAT, WARBLE, AND THE ELECTRIC POWWOW: AMERICAN INDIAN MUSIC by Craig Harris

    11:52

HEARTBEAT, WARBLE, AND THE ELECTRIC POWWOW: AMERICAN INDIAN MUSIC (University of Oklahoma Press, May 2016) celebrates in depth the vibrant soundscape of Indigenous North America from the “heartbeat” of intertribal drums and “warble” of Native flutes to contemporary rock, hip-hop, and electronic music. Drawing on more than one hundred interviews with musicians, producers, ethnographers, and record-label owners, author, photographer, and musician Craig Harris conjures an aural tapestry in which powwow drums and end-blown woodwinds resound alongside operatic and symphonic strains, jazz and reggae, country music, and blues. Harris begins with an exploration of the powwow from sacred ceremonies to intertribal gatherings. He examines the traditions of the Native American flute and its revival with artists such as R. Carlos Nakai, Robert Mirabal, and two-time Grammy winners Mary Youngblood and Bill Miller. Singers and songwriters including Buffy Sainte-Marie, Keith Secola, and Joanne Shenandoah provide insight into their music and their lives as American Indians. Harris also traces American Indian rock, reggae, punk, and pop over four decades, punctuating his survey with exclusive commentary from such artists as Tom Bee, founder of Native America’s first rock band, XIT. Grammy-winner Taj Mahal recalls influential guitarist Jesse Ed Davis; ex-bandmates reflect on Rock Hall of Fame inductee Redbone; Robbie Robertson, Pura Fe, and Rita Coolidge describe how their groundbreaking 1993 album, Music for the Native Americans, evolved; and A Tribe Called Red discuss their melding of archival powwow recordings into fiery dance music. The many voices and sounds that weave throughout Harris’s engaging, accessible account portray a sonic landscape that defies stereotyping and continues to expand. HEARTBEAT, WARBLE, AND THE ELECTRIC POWWOW: AMERICAN INDIAN MUSIC is the story—told by those who live it—of resisting a half-millennium of cultural suppression to create new sounds while preserving old roots. Lyrics:
It's chaos in the car seats
    Heading south on 65
They're asking Are we there yet?
    Every minute of the drive

    To be together at Christmastime

The last flight out was canceled
    'Cause of unexpected snow
    She's sleeping in the terminal
With the whole world headed home

    To be together at Christmastime

Oh, when you open up that door
To old familiar rooms of love and laughter
Coming home just the way you are
Knowing this is all that really matters

    To be together at Christmastime

    I'm singing out this song
'Til every lonely soul has heard
    We're not alone 'cause love
Has put His arms around the world

    To be together at Christmastime

So every time that lonely feeling
    Comes around again
    Listen love is knocking
    Yeah, wanting to come in

    To be together
    To be together

Oh, when you open up that door
To old familiar rooms of love and laughter
Coming home just the way you are
Knowing this is all that really matters

    To be together at Christmastime

Oh, when you open up that door
To old familiar rooms of love and laughter
Coming home just the way you are
Knowing this is all that really matters

    To be together at Christmastime

  • More than life by Jana

    7:51

More Than Life (2001) - Reached the Top 10 on Billboard's Artists to Watch chart and peaked in Billboard Magazines Hot Shot Debut At #29. Remixes where made by DJ Skribble and Anthony Acid. (Curb Records)

What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the winter time. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.
    -Crowfoot (Blackfoot warrior and orator)

Native American by birth and heritage, contemporary artist through hard work, destiny and the spirits, Jana brings a fresh outlook and exotic style to todays music. Jana refers to her cultural anomaly as Urban Indian. Her striking looks, and powerful voice coupled with the sensibilities of pop, R&B, world and gospel music create a compelling new mix that seduces your ear and overwhelms your senses.

Janas first single, Ooh, Baby, Baby, was an immediate success on radio and in the R&R, DMA, Hitmakers, and Gavin charts. Billboard magazine named Ooh, Baby, Baby pop single of the week. More Than Life was her next single. Remixed by legendary MTV DJ Skribble and Anthony Acid, the record became one of the biggest dance records of the year. Janas next release was a controversial remake of Led Zeppelins Stairway to Heaven that was one of the years best selling dance records.

Janas debut album entitled, Flash of a Firefly, was released to critical acclaim and commercial success. The CD features material written by Jana about her unique perspective on life. It is at once a deeply personal, yet universal work that embraces and engages while transcending the musical boundaries.

Immediately after finishing her first album, Jana recorded American Indian Christmas. On this record Jana sings ten traditional Christmas songs in ten different American Indian languages accompanied by a full orchestra and traditional American Indian instruments. It is an album of inspirational beauty.

For each of her last three singles and first two albums, Jana has won the prestigious Native American Music Award. She has received 6 NAMMY awards for Best Pop Performer, Song of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Producer for the production of American Indian Christmas, and Best Pop Recording for American Indian Story.

Janas newest CD is entitled American Indian Story. It is an epic adventure telling the powerful story of the young girl, ShaKona and her tribes journey to the New World. American Indian Story was nominated for a GRAMMY Award in 2007. It is Janas most ambitious work to date and represents another dimension to her talent.

Much of Janas material has been heard by the thousands who have attended Janas sold out headline concerts across the country in the past year. Her rigorous touring schedule has already brought her to forty eight of the fifty states as well as Europe.

Another important part of Jana's life is her own Jana's Kids organization, founded by her to help Native American youth achieve the successes they dream of. Jana's Kids has become one of the most successful programs of its kind in America.

Adding to her career portfolio, Jana just completed filming her first movie. She has the starring role in the Fossil Ridge Films production of Raptor Ranch, slated for release the end of this year.

Janas Native American ancestry is reflected in her exotic presence. A member of the Lumbee tribe, she honors her Native traditions in her everyday life. Jana states that being an Urban Indian is to walk in two worlds but not compromise my cultural identity. I cannot ignore who I am and where I came from. I am proud that I can maintain my traditional customs while living in todays world. Jana integrates much of her heritage into her musical persona and her unique sense of style. Her flair for fashion has been featured in numerous publications including In Style, Glamour, Marie Claire, and The New York Times.

Drawing from diverse musical influences to create a fresh perspective on pop music today, Jana reveals her personal style through her extraordinary musical talents. She is not representative of any one world, just as her music is a collage of multi-cultural influences. Instead, Jana embodies a synthesis of the modern world and her own ethnic background. Jana is a voice you must hear. You wont be disappointed.

She walks in beauty in two worlds.

Khalid - Better Official Live Performance (Vevo X)

No way around it, Khalid has been charming everyone who has heard his music since Coaster, Let's Go and Reasons announced his arrival a couple years now. When the El Paso native's 'American Teen' album became the center of attention from critics, fans and Grammy bigwigs. With the recent arrival of his 'Suncity' EP, the singer shows us that he's up for investigating all sorts of ideas. While they sound kin to his previous work, tracks such as Motion and Better look around corners, test new waters, take a chance or two. Moving the conversation forward is pure Khalid, so we were thrilled when our LIFT alum said yes to trying unique updates of his newest songs. Tucked away in an LA cottage, our Vevo X session caught him rolling through performances of Vertigo and other Better. Backed by a luminous string quartet on the former and a handful of great singers on the latter, this cozy approach gives us a great perspective on Khalid's newest music. Share Better and Vertigo with other Khalid fans.

    Lyrics:

    I’ve been holding my breath
    I’ve been counting to ten
    Over something you said
    I've been holding back tears
While you’re throwing back beers I’m alone in bed

You know I…. I’m afraid of change
Guess that’s why I stay the same

So tell me to leave I’ll pack my bags get on the road
Find someone that loves you better than I do darling I know
Cause you remind me every day I’m not enough but I still stay

Fells like a lifetime I’m trying to get by
    While we’re dying inside
I’ve done a lot of things wrong
Loving you being one but I can’t move on

You know I…. I’m afraid of change
Guess that’s why I stay the same

So tell me to leave I’ll pack my bags get on the road
Find someone that loves you better than I do darling I know
Cause you remind me every day I’m not enough but I still stay

If you want me to leave then tell me to leave and baby I’ll go

Cause you remind me every day I’m not enough but I still stay

Amy Grant - To Be Together (Music Video):

    Lyrics:
You like to dance and listen to the music
I like to sing with the band
You like your hands splashing in the ocean
Well I like my feet on the sand
Does anybody have it any better?
Isn't it easy to see just how well we fit together

When I start to sing the blues
You pull out my dancing shoes
I think you could be so good for me
    Good for me baby
You get brave when I get shy
    Just another reason why
I think you could be so good for me
    So good

You like to drive like Mario Andretti
I like it taking my time
But let me say wherever you are going
You know it suits me just fine
Does anybody have it any better?
Isn't it easy to see just how well we fit together?

Could be so good for me
    You could be so good
    Could be so good
Could be so good for me
You get brave when I get shy
    Oh, another reason why
I think you could be so good for
    Good for me baby
    Good for me baby

When I want to sing the blues
    Good for me baby
Oh when I want to sing the blues
    Good for me baby
    You could be so good
    Good for me baby
When I want to sing the blues
    Good for me baby

  • How do you go from INTERN to success in the music industry?

    30:18

    ➡️➡️ Learn more here:

Today’s featured question is: “I’m going to be beginning an internship at a studio near me this fall, what skills, technical or not, do you believe are most important for an intern to have?”

This is a fantastic question! I have a lot of stories about interns that have come up, done really well, and become very successful, and have amazing careers!

That was a great question! The best skill you can have as an intern is humility and to realize that people are just looking for you to do the things that they need help with. And if you can do that, they’ll be like “that person is really helpful. You know what? I’ve got this other great gig that I need help on where they have to use more skills, and maybe there’s a bit of a budget! I’ll use that person! Because they were really helpful!” - Jason LaRocca said that SPECIFICALLY in that interview!

I can tell you from experience that the “opportunity” and the “luck” is what you make yourself.

The opportunities arise when you’re there as often as you can be to say yes, and to help out.

Now I’m going to go to the other side of things….

I can’t tell you how many interns have blown opportunities! I bet they’re the same people saying “right place right time!”

I have watched people be in a room, and have an opportunity to make a really good impression with a producer or an engineer that I know is actually looking for an assistant- and watch them show a bit of arrogance and not be responsive.

I won’t say who it is, but a good friend of mine, a producer, called me at the end of a record, and asked me “where did you find this guy?” He was referring to Sam Martin!

Sam interned with us for about 9 months for free on a huge album, and he did everything from plugging in amps, and mics, to running to get food. And then after the 9 months, I think he got paid like $500 a month? Which slowly grew into a living wage.

By the end of it, he’s a first call for me! Jack Douglas uses him all the time when he has to do vocal comps! He’s a first call when you’re extremely busy because we know “that guy’s going to deliver!” He’s delivered consistently for maybe 9 years?

There’s no luck in there. There’s no right place in the right time with that story.

Phil Allen was my intern, and his first day was delivering a PA at 7AM to the outside venue for a festival we we had put together. He had to get at our storage facility at probably 5:30AM to load it all up, drive it all down, offload all of it, and set it all up. He ended up finishing at 2AM that night!

That was a 3 day festival.. on the last day we had to stay over night and break down the PA and then clean the place up! There was no cleaning crew! It was me and my business partner picking up all the trash! Guess who was with us? Phil!

Phil eventually went on to win a Grammy for recording Adele’s “Someone Like You!”

    Lyrics:
    El shaddai, el shaddai,
    El-elyon na adonia,
Age to age you're still the same,
By the power of the name.
    El shaddai, el shaddai,
    Erkamka na adonai,
We will praise and lift you high,
    El shaddai.

Through your love and through the ram,
    You saved the son of abraham;
Through the power of your hand,
Turned the sea into dry land.
To the outcast on her knees,
You were the God who really sees,
    And by your might,
    You set your children free.

    El shaddai, el shaddai,
    El-elyon na adonia,
Age to age you're still the same,
By the power of the name.
    El shaddai, el shaddai,
    Erkamka na adonai,
We will praise and lift you high,
    El shaddai.

Through the years you've made it clear,
That the time of christ was near,
    Though the people couldn't see
    What messiah ought to be.
Though your word contained the plan,
    They just could not understand
Your most awesome work was done
Through the frailty of your son.

    El shaddai, el shaddai,
    El-elyon na adonai,
Age to age you're still the same,
By the power of the name.
    El shaddai, el shaddai,
    Erkamka na adonai,
I will praise yo 'till I die,
    El shaddai.

    El shaddai, el shaddai,
    El-elyon na adonai,
Age to age you're still the same,
By the power of the name.
    El shaddai, el shaddai,
    Erkamka na adonai,
I will praise you 'till I die.

Released in 1984, 'What's Love Got to Do with It' gave Turner her first and only solo number-one hit in the US. The song ranked number 309 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In 2012, 'What's Love Got to Do with It' was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, giving Turner her third Grammy Hall of Fame Award.

In 1960 Ike and Tina charted with 'A Fool in Love', and notched singles throughout the '60s, despite the disappointing chart position of River Deep, Mountain High - cited by Phil Spector as one of his best productions. All expectations were fulfilled in 1971 with Proud Mary, which became the capstone of their Revue.

After retiring from stadium stages in 2009, Tina became involved in 'Beyond Musik', a collaboration with music therapist Regula Curti and mantric singer, Dechen Shak-Dagsay. Their 4th album, Awakening, featured the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra recorded at Abbey Road London. In 2014 Warner Music launched Love Songs, a collection of romantic solo material.

Tina's next project was her personal involvement in TINA, The Tina Turner Musical, launched in London in 2018, which explores her legendary life with a new stage for her signature songs.

Ooh I know there ain't no doubt about it
    Sometimes life is funny
You think you're in your darkest hour
When the lights are coming on in the house of love

    You've been up all night
    Thinking it was over
    He's been out of sight
    At least for the moment
    But when something this strong
    Gets a hold on you
The odds are ninety-nine to one
It's got a hold on him too

Now when the house is dark
    And you're all alone inside
You've gotta listen to your heart
And put away your foolish pride
    Though the storm is breaking
    And thunder shakes the walls
    Love with a firm foundation
    Ain't never gonna fall

    Lyrics:
Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood
Would you o'er evil a victory win?
There's wonderful power in the blood

There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the blood of the Lamb
Hear me speak what's on my mind
    Let me give this testimony
To reaffirm that you will find
That you are my one and only
    No exception to this rule
I'm simple but I'm no fool
I've got a witness happy to say
    Every hour, every day

    Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
My red blood runs true blue
And every heartbeat belongs to you

Classic case of boy meets girl
    Moving in the same direction
You're not asking for the world
    I'm not asking for perfection
Just a love that's well designed
For passing the test of time
    I'm here to tell you
    I'm here to stay
    Every hour, every day

    Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
Ask anyone and they'll tell you it's true
    Every heartbeat belongs to you

    Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
My red blood runs true blue
And every heartbeat belongs to you

    Oh, oh, oh, oh
Yeah, sure maybe I'm on the edge
But I love you baby and like I said
    I'm here to tell you
    I'm here to stay
    Every hour, every day

    Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
Ask anyone and they'll tell you it's true
    Every heartbeat belongs to you

    Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim, yeah
My red blood runs true blue
And every heartbeat belongs to you

    Every heartbeat bears your name
Loud and clear they stake my claim
And every heartbeat belongs to you

  • Jana Mashonee Solid Ground from album New Moon Born

    3:37

With her new album, New Moon Born, poised to burst onto the mainstream music scene, its no wonder Jana Mashonee is all smiles these days. The album represents a significant departure from her previous endeavors, taking on a decidedly more upbeat rhythm and blues flavor. The album is about rebirth and new beginnings; it reflects a phase in my life that has taken on a different shape and direction from anything Ive done before, she says. This music conveys my personal truths and beliefs. In addition to providing all the vocals and piano, Jana wrote and co-produced the album.

Janas new featured track is an emotional cover of Sam Cookes soul classic, A Change Is Gonna Come, with Juno Award winning guitarist Derek Miller. Jana debuted the song and the powerful music video at her live performance for the 2009 American Indian Presidential Inaugural Ball.

Since the 2006 release of her GRAMMY-nominated concept album, American Indian Story, the Lumbee Indian singer-songwriter has not had a moments rest. Amidst her demanding touring schedule which has taken her to 48 states as well as Europe and Canada, she found time in 2007 to shoot a video for American Indian Storys first single, The Enlightened Time. Met with critical acclaim and enthusiastic fan response, the video has won numerous film festival awards, as well as a NAMMY for Best Short Form Music Video, Janas seventh Native American Music Award.

Jana also recorded American Indian Christmas, a unique album of ten traditional Christmas carols, each sung in a different Native American tongue. Recorded with a full orchestra and traditional Native American instruments, this holiday album continues to receive rave reviews from press and fans alike.

At the start of the new millennium, Jana found success with chart-topping club hits like More Than Life and her cover of Led Zeppelins epic, Stairway to Heaven, earning her the honor of being the first Native American female to land on the Billboard dance charts. Her powerful voice, uplifting message, and exotic beauty and style garnered widespread press attention.

Despite her fast-paced career, Jana has still found time to give back by establishing her non-profit organization, Janas Kids, in 2002. Through the foundation, she helps Native American youth achieve their dreams. Starting in 2007, Janas Kids began awarding the David L. Boyle Family Scholarship to Native students. I hope to raise more money so that I can fund a full two to four years of schooling for each person receiving a scholarship. Thats my current goal.

This is indeed an exciting time for Jana with New Moon Born set to take her career to new heights. Despite this, she is decidedly peaceful. Find the inspiration within yourself first and then you can help others, she says. I believe everyone has the responsibility in their lives to influence other people positively. Jana Mashonee is truly the embodiment of the ancient Lumbee proverb: She walks in beauty in two worlds.

  • Healing Music by Michael Brant DeMaria - Grammy® nominated album Gaia - medley video

Healing Music by Michael Brant DeMaria - Grammy® nominated album Gaia - medley video

Michael Brant DeMaria is a psychologist, author, inspirational speaker in addition to being a 3 time Grammy nominated artst - whose award winning music is designed to bring inner peace, relaxation, calm and healing.

A medley of music from the Grammy® nominated album for Best New Age Album in the 54th Grammy Awards by four time Grammy® nominee Michael Brant DeMaria. Gaia won Album of the Year for 2010 and Best World Music Album of 2010 in the ZMR Awards (voted on by radio, cable and internet broadcasters from around the world). DeMaria composed Gaia during the Gulf Coast Oil Spill and a portion of proceeds go to support wildlife recovery and rescue.

    Gaia Reviews:

My words can't do justice to what Michael Brant DeMaria has wrought on Gaia. That the artist has found a way to craft so many diverse world music soundscapes and also unite them into a singular musical vision showcases just how talented a performer and composer he is. DeMaria has obviously poured every ounce of his creative soul into Gaia and it shows. It's a stellar achievement and stands as a fitting portrait which captures the expansive nature of Mother Earth herself and the many peoples who populate her surface. Rating: Excellent -- Bill Binkelman, Zone Music Reporter

  • Native Americans at Grammy 2012

    3:12

After quite a struggle, NARAS quietly restored the Latin-Jazz category to Grammy. But they left most of the other categories under the bus. For me, one of the most disturbing aspects is their continued dismissal of the Native American genre. They've been left out in the cold. Again. And there aren't all that many of them around to make a loud protest noise. Hopefully that travesty will be corrected soon. In the spirit of solidarity, I've taken the time to transcribe some video footage that was taken during our protest at the 2012 Grammy event on 2-12-12. At that point, I had handed my camera to a fellow protester, who did a fine job of capturing this entire segment on film. — at The 54th Grammy Awards 2012 @ Staples Center.

  • COLOR ME BADD LIVE Slow-Motion + backstage Interview *Bryan Abrams, Mark Calderon, Sam Watters, KT

    16:23

The original group interviewed in the late 90's while on tour promoting, Now & Forever with the single The Earth, The Sun, The Rain. We did this interview backstage at Kimballs East, Emeryville, Ca. 1996

Color Me Badd is an American contemporary R&B group that was formed in 1985 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma by Bryan Abrams (born November 16, 1969), second tenor Mark Calderon (born September 27, 1970), second tenor Sam Watters (born July 23, 1970) and baritone Kevin Thornton (born June 17, 1969). Color Me Badd broke up in 1998 before reuniting in 2010, with various lineups since.

Best known for their singles I Wanna Sex You Up, I Adore Mi Amor and All 4 Love, the group has sold over 12 million records worldwide] had two number 1 hit singles, nine Top 40 hits and a triple-platinum album. They were nominated for two Grammy Awards, won two Soul Train Music Awards and one American Music Award, and were nominated for five others. Their songs have been featured in movies and on television programs including New Jack City, Mo' Money, No Strings Attached and Glee. They made a cameo appearance as themselves on a 1992 episode of Beverly Hills, 90210. Along with Boyz II Men, Hi-Five, Shai, Silk and All-4-One, Color Me Badd were considered the leaders of a resurgence of post-doo-wop harmony group singing in the early 1990s. Color Me Badd invented the term hip-hop doo-wop to describe its sound, which combines four-part pop-soul harmonies with a hip-hop influence. In the 1990s, they were known for wearing bright-colored suits and for their choreography, as well as for being a racially diverse group, which was rare at the time. Calderon is Mexican-American, Abrams is Caucasian and Native American, Watters is Caucasian and Thornton is African-American. The group was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2000.

In July 2010, Color Me Badd re-emerged as a duo consisting of Bryan Abrams and Mark Calderon. They headlined a concert in Hawaii, which also featured All-4-One and Shai. Later that year, Kevin Thornton rejoined Color Me Badd. In early 2012, Calderon and Abrams collaborated with the Insane Clown Posse on the song Ghetto Rainbows (Soft Ass R-N-B Remix) on The Mighty Death Pop! bonus CD called Mike E. Clark's Extra Pop Emporium. Credited to Insane Clown Posse and Color Me Badd, the song features Abrams and Calderon, and was also co-written by the duo. In June 2013, the group released Skywalkin', their first new song in nearly 15 years. On August 16, 2013, Abrams announced his departure from Color Me Badd through a post on his website. The group continued on, with Calderon and Thornton. Abrams was replaced by Martin Kember, who was previously a member of AZ-1. Color Me Badd performed with the lineup of Calderon, Thornton and Kember at the 2014 BET Awards.

In 2015, Abrams and Calderon reunited as Color Me Badd, less Thornton, and Kember, and began a tour in Singapore. Thornton was briefly back in Color Me Badd in 2015, before leaving the group that same year. In the winter of 2015, Adam Emil joined the group, and they went on a US tour with Bell Biv DeVoe. By 2016, the group was officially a trio, with Calderon, Abrams, and Emil. That year, they recorded a new song, In Case You Didn't Know. On April 30, 2016, Color Me Badd played a concert for U.S. Armed Forces at Okuma Beach, Okinawa, Japan. In the fall and winter of 2016, Color Me Badd was on the inaugural I Love the ‘90s Tour, a year-long tour across the US that also featured Vanilla Ice, Salt-N-Pepa, Tone Loc and Young MC.

On July 22, 2018, Abrams was arrested for assaulting Calderon on stage during a concert in Waterloo, New York. A video shows Abrams walk across the stage at the completion of the song I Wanna Sex You Up and firmly shoves Calderon to the floor. Abrams allegedly screamed, “I’m motherfucking Color Me Badd!” as he pushed Calderon to the floor. Officers stated that alcohol may have been a factor.

On August 31, 2019, Color Me Badd performed at a Beverly Hills, 90210 charity event to benefit Generosity Water org.

Color Me Badd has had a lasting influence on R&B music. The Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg Saturday Night Live Digital Short Dick in a Box which debuted on December 16, 2006, is a parody of early '90s R&B, and is considered a spoof of the style of Color Me Badd in particular. I Wanna Sex You Up was performed by cast members on an episode of the first season of Glee in 2009. The music video for I Wanna Sex You Up was on an episode of Beavis and Butthead on MTV. The song has appeared in numerous films and television shows, including, New Jack City, You Don't Mess with the Zohan and No Strings Attached. On a November 2015 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Color Me Badd's Abrams, Calderon and Watters joined with country singer Brad Paisley in a performance of I Wanna Sex You Up for Kimmel's Mash-Up Monday series. The artists were renamed Color Me Bradd for the occasion.
