    GARY MOORE (4 April 1952 - 6 February 2011)

In remembrance to one of my all time guitar heroes, who sadly passed away a year ago today. This remains one of my favourite performances by him and I can still remember buying the original version, written and recorded by Roy Buchanan, when I was still a 15 year old boy and starting out learning to play the guitar.

This performance was recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1990 - a venue he revisited a number of times through the years.

    Gary, you are sadly missed.

On 20 August 2005, on what would have been his 56th birthday, a statue of Phil Lynott was unveiled in Dublin's Grafton Street by his mother. There to witness the event were members of Thin Lizzy from throughout the band's career. Later that evening they joined forces under the leadership of Gary Moore for a concert that paid tribute to Phil Lynott's memory. The core band of Moore, Jethro Tull bass player Jonathan Noyce and Thin Lizzy's one and only drummer Brian Downey were joined by the stellar guitar talents of Brian Robertson, Scott Gorham and Eric Bell for a set of Lizzy and Gary Moore classics.

This track is from the full concert DVD One Night In Dublin, out now on Eagle Vision.

A piece of life. A reality for some amongst us..

31-03-2017 and always a supergreat song. But.. the other reality is.. and what if.. you one day encounter the one that turns your past to fade away filling you with vibes, colours, passion that the past just doesn't count anymore? Past is something to built on on for a better experience in your tomorrow. No denial of the great moments and love you had. Real life.. Absolute real feelings. Still a supergreat song..
And no, I have no longer the blues for you, but.... I will never forget or denie.. 4ever inside. :-)

    Lyrics:
I've seen that look somewhere before
Your sorrow's like an open door
You've been this way for much too long
Somebody must have done you wrong

But one day the sun will shine on you
Turn all your tears to laughter
One day your dreams may all come true
One day the sun will shine on you

I've seen that look so many times
I know the sadness in your eyes
Your life is like a wishing well
Where it goes, only time will tell

One day the sun will shine on you
Turn all your tears to laughter
One day your dreams may all come true
One day the sun will shine on

Say goodbye to the lonely nights
Say goodbye to the Northern Lights
Say goodbye to the cold north winds
Say goodbye to the autumn leaves

One day the sun will shine on you
Turn all your tears to laughter
One day your dreams may all come true
One day the sun will shine on you

One day the sun will shine on you
One day the sun will shine on you....

It´s considered Lizzy´s most reconned and long ballad, with a good display of the band´s guitar solo feats. It qas covered by Mastodon among other artists.

It formed a part of the launch for the Jimi Hendrix Live At Monterey programme and featured Gary Moore and his band performing classic Hendrix tracks. At the end of the night Gary was joined by Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox of the Jimi Hendrix Experience for 3 tracks. Gary Moore was one of the finest British guitarists of all time and is one of the few players who could pay homage to Jimi Hendrix's groundbreaking and truly distinctive guitar style. This is a stunning tribute from one master guitarist to another.

    Midnight Blues

    It's the darkest hour
    Of the darkest night
    It's a million miles
    From the mornin' light

    Can't get no sleep
    Don't know what to do
    I've got those midnight blues

    When the shadows fall
I feel the night closin' in
    There must be some reason
For this mood I'm gettin' in

    Can't get no sleep
    Don't know what to do
    I've got those midnight blues

    Every evenin' after sundown
As the light begins to fade
I feel so low, but I just don't know
Why these blues won't go away

    Every evenin' after sundown
As the light begins to fade
I feel so low, but I just don't know
Why these blues won't go away

En esta selección quiero compartir la interpretación de estos músicos blancos (excepto Etta James), de este género universal. Los títulos al comienzo de cada tema.

Gary Moore is one of the best rock and blues guitarists ever to come out of Ireland. Born in Belfast he moved to Dublin in the late 60s joined a band called Skid Row and met Phil Lynott, who shortly after left to form Thin Lizzy. Moore stayed with Skid Row for three albums before joining Lynott briefly in Thin Lizzy. He then joined Colosseum II (which also featured Don Airey on keyboards) before going solo and having a huge hit with Parisenne Walkways, which featured Lynott on vocals. This lead to a further short stint in Thin Lizzy, including their classic album Black Rose.

  • Gary Moore - Where Are You Now

    7:01

2010 saw Gary Moore make a return to rock music after a long period of time exploring the blues. He was writing and working on a new rock album when all was brought to a halt by his untimely death on 6 February 2011. This concert from Montreux in July 2010 was his last performance to be filmed. The setlist draws heavily on his hugely successful rock albums of the eighties, stirs in a couple of his classic blues tracks with some memorable hit singles and includes three brand new songs that would have featured on the album left sadly uncompleted on his death. Gary Moore was one of the finest and most respected guitarists the British Isles have ever produced. This concert shows just what a talent we will miss.
