Nancy Sinatra - These Boots Are Made for Walkin

    2:30

These Boots Are Made for Walkin' is a pop song musically composed by Lee Hazlewood and first written and recorded by Nancy Sinatra. It was released in February 1966 and hit #1 in the United States and United Kingdom Pop charts. Subsequently, many cover versions of the song have been released in a range of styles: metal, pop, rock, punk rock, country, dance, and industrial.

You keep saying you got something for me
Something you call love but confess
    You've been a'messin' where you shouldn't 've been a'messin'
And now someone else is getting all your best
Well, these boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you

You keep lyin' when you oughta be truthin'
You keep losing when you oughta not bet
You keep samin' when you oughta be a'changin'
What's right is right but you ain't been right yet
These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you

You keep playing where you shouldn't be playing
And you keep thinking that you'll never get burnt (HAH)
Well, I've just found me a brand new box of matches (YEAH)
And what he knows you ain't had time to learn
These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you

    [SPOKEN]

    Are you ready, boots?
    Start walkin'

    Q65 - The Life I Live

    3:15

    Q65 - The Life I Live (1966)

Part 3 of From My Dreams...So Beautiful Commentary

    3:38

    PART 1 (main video):
    PART 2 (playlist description):

SEVEN EMCEEZ - This track is basically an ode to arguably the greatest MC ever, Rakim (of Eric B & Rakim). The sample used in this track comes from their 1987 album, Paid in Full, which entails rhyming skills that are still superior to just about anything released since. All of these slides are of Rakim, aka the God MC. All bow to the Grandmaster (of rapping at least - maybe other things, too, like unicycle juggling. I don't know).

I'M GONNA MAKE LOVE - This track is also an ode of sorts to arguably the most genius show ever, South Park. The sample is from the first episode ever (not including the video xmas card) where Chef sings to the kids for the very first time. Also found here are various drawings I did in the 80's whilst still a little breaker/rapper/beatboxer/scratcher. When I was a kid, I LOVED me some Mad Magazine, hence the Fresh Spy drawing based on the Spy vs. Spy comic by Antonio Prohías.

MY ONLY HOPE - And yet another ode, this time to the greatest movie saga of all time (at least the original three), Star Wars. These slides are simply images I downloaded from the internet and screwed with in Photoshop. As Nabbee SWIFT, I must take this opportunity to say Taylor...I am your father. Sorry - there was absolutely no way around including that joke.

FACES OF DEATH - This track entails vocal samples of Lethal Weapon, an MC whose 6-track demo, entitled Blood, Sweat & Tears, I produced in 1995 (may post some of those tracks in the future). These particular vocal lines are from a track called Homicidal. The images include him (the tall one) with myself and another rapper, B.A.T. (Brutha Amongst Tribulations), aka Batman, whose demo I also produced, and who had some guest spots on Lethal's demo. The red, demonic DJ image is a linoleum ink print (carving an image into linoleum, rolling ink onto it, then pressing it on a piece of paper) I made in a junior high art class. So evil, yet so fresh.

SPACE IS BOUNDLESS - The kid on the CD cover was a friend of a friend's son. She agreed to meet me at a park and volunteer her son so that I could shoot some images of him for the cover. I had him stand up on a ledge of some sort so that I could shoot him at an upward angle where the only thing in the background was the clear blue sky. The sky acted as a blue screen, enabling me to more easily cut him out later in Photoshop and place him against whatever background I so chose. His mother was holding her set of keys above him, telling him to reach for them since what I wanted for the cover was a kid reaching. He cooperated for a short while before growing tired of it as he was quite young - like 3 or 4 maybe. I got what I needed, but unexpectedly, he also did some additional, really odd yet interesting non-reaching positions, completely unprovoked, one of which I ended up using as the main image on the front cover. For this track, I scanned in every photo (still had them all) that I took of him that day, and created a collage of sorts, eventually taking that kid on a journey through a mysterious portal and into the outer-bounds of the cosmically cosmic cosmos.

INCLUDED IN THIS SUPPLEMENTAL VIDEO are a couple of additional Spy vs. Spy stereotypes I drew, Grit Spy and Homeboy Spy. In this case, homeboy is referring to someone who might now-a-days be referred to as a nerd, which was the original meaning of homeboy, at least back in the day in our parts before those darn rap-hoppers took the word over. Also included are additional b-boy images of myself discovered in my junior high yearbook after completing the original slideshow. In the first slide, please take note of my Kangol hat and fake Cazal glasses, aka Gazelles, both borrowed so that I could look just like DMC of Run DMC; my silver Egyptian Pharaoh coffin earring (male piercings could only be on the left ear back then, otherwise you were gay); my calculator watch (hold up! that shit ain't fresh!); and my sweatsuit (one of several on display in these old-skool images) with cut off sleeves. If you could see my shoes, I'd be wearing either Stan Smith Adidas, shell toe Adidas, or green suede Pumas. Any of these would have fat laces laced into an intricately woven pattern with a rolled-up sock stuffed underneath to make the laces pop up from the top of the shoe. Don't gets no doper than that, kid.

In the second slide you find me photo-bombing a black-girls-only shot with the Horns of the Devil hand sign. The third slide is of me with my partner-in-hip-hop-crime, Lashawn Alexander. He used to be my official beatboxer whenever I would get caught up in a spontaneous rap battle with someone between classes in the hallway, and therefore, would need a beat to rap to (again, seriously). The hilarity of my adolescence is boundless...just like space.
