    • A young blues renegade launches his first nationwide release with this brand new studio album featuring a ton of heavy hitting guest stars such as Pat Travers, Leslie West, Vinny Appice, Tinsley Ellis, Artimus Pyle, Rod Piazza, and members of Gov't Mule, Double Trouble, Canned Heat, and more!

    • Blending the influences of blues greats John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and Lightnin' Hopkins with hard rock heroes Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine, Eli has been earning rave reviews from both critics and fellow blues musicians alike - Tinsley Ellis called him a triple threat, obviously a great guitarist but also an emotive singer and an innovative songwriter. He's in the vanguard of young, 21st century blues rockers!

    • Full publicity campaign by Glass Onyon PR and specialty blues radio campaign by AirplayDirect to target program directors and music supervisors worldwide plus print and banner ads and more!!

    • Eli will be playing a special showcase at this year's SXSW opening for the legendary Johnny Winter and will barnstorm the rest of the nation with a full tour in late spring and early summer to support the release!

Eli Cook - Trouble Maker from the new album High-Dollar Gospel

    43

The countdown to my album, High-Dollar Gospel begins! This clip features the song, Troublemaker. I had just gotten my old 12 string acoustic back from having it modified to play slide on, and had it tuned way low to open B. That's a pretty huge sound, and I don't know of anyone that uses it, so it was very inspiring. I pulled the phrase trouble maker from a line in a Tarantino flick, Django Unchained.

Eli Cook - Im A Ram - Al Green cover

    5:03

Eli plays at The Sprint Pavilion in Charlottesville, VA
    Video shot by Aaron Vogeley
    Edited by Mike Moxham

Eli took up the guitar as a teenager in the Blue Ridge foothills of Virginia. Following the tradition of the great blues men, he performed in churches and late-night gospel revivals with only his acoustic and deep baritone voice, while playing every hole-in-the-wall bar that could handle his electric power trio. Blending the influences of John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Fred MacDowell, Bukka White and Lightning Hopkins with the likes of Clutch, Soundgarden, C.O.C, and Rage Against The Machine, he forged a fresh sound, alive with the southern blues tradition.

Eli recorded and released his first two albums between 2004 and 2007: the all-acoustic, original-roots album “Miss Blues’ Child” on the Sledgehammer Blues label, and a heavy blues-rock release “ElectricHolyFireWater”. During this time he was invited to open for B.B. King on King's east coast tour. Since then, Eli has shared the stage with Johnny Winter, Robert Cray, Parliament-Funkadellic, Gary Clark JR, Roomful of Blues and many others. In 2008, Eli released his third self-produced album, “Static in the Blood, a modern R&B/Rock crossover project featuring ornate experimental studio production. The follow up album, “Ace Jack & King, a return to roots-blues and heavy guitars, received critical acclaim. The All Music Guide proclaimed that Eli could be “the best blues singer of his generation.”
‘Think John Campbell meets Bob Dylan and that will get the uninitiated an idea of the intelligence and power of Eli Cook.” - American Blues Scene

    Eli Cook ~ Santeria Shakedown

    5:16

    Album: Electricholyfirewater
    Release Date: January 25, 2007

Eli Hudnall Cook was born in Nelson County, Virginia on April 24, 1986. He grew up in a world of “old cars, chain-saws, and guitars” in a Blue Ridge Mountain hollow where radio still reigned, and telephones and television failed. Eli began playing Gospel at revivals when he was 15, and still never forgets to “take you to church” at some moment in his performance today.

Eli describes his music as “blue, blue, Blues.” Phil Reser of Blues Wax describes Eli as “a young gun with an old soul who storm through slide guitar romps, tackling the Blues, and sounding like his generation’s Son House or Elmore James. He’s not just playing the same licks as his mentors, but adding his signature sound and style to the art of the Blues.”

However you describe Eli’s music, it has ushered him onto many a wonderful stage: He frequently opened for B.B. King, has shared the spotlight with Johnny Winter, Shemekia Copeland, and Robert Cray, and has performed on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C..

Today, Eli tours nationally, and his recordings are played on radio stations all over the world. “Moonshine Mojo”, his debut album recorded in 2004, has become a collector’s item . “Miss Blues’es Child”, was picked up by New York’s Valley Entertainment on their Sledgehammer Blues label in 2007 and earned a feature article in Guitar Player Magazine. “ElectricHolyFireWater”, 2007, is ranked one of the best electric guitar recordings of the year by New York’s AxeCalibre, and one the the best 100 electric guitar albums of the last decade by La 7e corde, France. “Ace, Jack, & King”, Eli’s most recent release, has taken the Blues world by storm, and clinched both an interview and a review on the Hit List of Vintage Guitar Magazine.

    Eli Cook - Shenandoah Bluesfest

    4:41

Eli Cook grew up on the blues: Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, the Wolf, Lightnin' Hopkins, and Mississippi John Hurt. He first picked up the guitar when he was fourteen, and began his own performance career playing vintage blues, gospel shows, and revivals in Nelson County, Virginia when he was fifteen. (Braving the Blues, Lynchburg News and Advance, Jan. 9, 2003, by Theresa Boyd)

His first electric trio, The Red House Blues Band, was formed in 2002 while a junior at Monticello Highschool. Eli was called a 'blues phenomenon' by reviewers in near-by Charlottesville:

Featuring fast-fingered guitar and a powerful voice beyond his years, Cook doesn't need any Robert-Johnson-style pact with the devil to take him to the top.
