    I'm a man on fire
    Walking through your street

    And two dancing feet
    Only one desire
    That's left in me
I want the whole damn world
    To come dance with me

    (ohhhhhhhh. Come dance with me)

    I'm a hunter at bay
    Come and set you free
    Over heartache and shame

I wanna see our bodies burning like the old big sun
I wanna know what we've been learning and learning from

    Everybody want safety (safety love)
    Everybody want comfort (comfort love)
    Everybody want certain (certain love)
    Everybody but me

    I'm a man on fire
    Walking down your street

    And two dancing feet
    Only one desire
    That's left in me
I want the whole damn world
To come and dance with me

Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeroes: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

    14:45

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros can't exactly slip into an office building unnoticed: Clad in the same clothes they'd worn at a concert the night before, the L.A. band's 10 ragtag misfits would have fit in far more seamlessly at, say, Burning Man. Seeming to exist in a blissed-out alternate universe — during the wonderful Home, singer Jade Castrinos exclaims, Good morning, everybody! as the clock behind her reads 2:10 p.m. — this is a band whose performances beg to be seen as well as heard, not to mention shot through a wide-angle lens.

The biggest band to play a Tiny Desk Concert - the 10 members of The Magnetic Zeroes played three songs from their debut album (Up From Below).

    The set included:
    - Janglin
    - Home
    - 40 Day Daydream

40 Day Dream-Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

    3:56

The Lyrics for 40 Day Dream.

I've been sleeping for forty days and
Yeah, I know that I'm sleeping cause this dream's too amazing
She got gold doorknobs where her eyes used to be, yeah
One turn and I learned what it really means to see, yeah

    It's the magical mystery kind
    Must be a lie
Bye bye to the too good to be true kind of love
    Oooooh I could die
    Oooooh now, I could die

Now I've been sleeping for sixty days and
    Nobody better pinch me
    Bitch I swear, go crazy
    She got jumper cable lips
She got sunset on her breath

I inhaled just a little bit
Now I got no fear of death

    It's the magical mystery kind
    Must be a lie
Bye bye to the too good to be true kind of love
    Oooooh I could die
    Oooooh now, I could die

    It's the magical mystery kind
    Must be a lie
Bye bye to the too good to be true kind of love
    Oooooh I could die
    Oooooh now, I could die

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros- Janglin

    3:50

Well our mama's they left us
And our daddy's took a ride
And we walked out of the castle
And we held our head up high
Well we once were the Jesters
In your Kingdom by the sea
And now we're out to be the masters
For to set our spirits free -- set free

    We Want to feel ya!
We don't mean to kill ya!
We come back to Heal ya -- Janglin soul
    Edward and the Magnetic Zeros

    Well your wartime is Funny
    Your guns don't bother me
I said we're out to prove the truth of
    The man from Galilei
Well your laws are for Dummies, yes
    Your institutions dead
I say we're out to blow the trumpet
To wake you all from bed -- from bed

    We Want to feel ya!
We don't mean to kill ya!
We come back to Heal ya -- Janglin soul
    Edward and the Magnetic Zeros

    We carry the mail
    We carry it home
    We carry the Mail now
    We carry it home
    Scare up your Letters
    Give us your Tails
    Blowing like Whale now to
    Magnetic Ears
    WOW!

    We Want to feel ya!
We don't mean to kill ya!
We come back to Heal ya -- Janglin soul

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Better Days

    4:24

    New Self-Titled Album Available Now.

    Download on iTunes:

    Lyrics:
I've seen better days, dripping down your face
We don't have to talk, let's dance
For all the times you felt alone, dreaming better
    I see better, better days
Too dumb to say goodbye that's some cliché shit, make me wanna cry
Just know that every time I look in your eye, I see better, I see better, better days

Try to remember, that you can't forget
Down with history, up with your head
For sweet tomorrow, she never fell from grace
We might still know sorrow but we got better days

I seen better ways, some won't believe
But I don't need much more than faith
For all the times you felt alone
Dreaming better, dreaming better, better ways
Too dumb to say goodbye, now that's some give up shit, make me wanna cry
Just know that every time I look in your eye, I see better, I see better, better days

Try to remember, that you can't forget
Down with history, up with your head
For sweet tomorrow, she never fell from grace
We might still know sorrow but we got better days

    Better days.
    Guess who's back in town.

    Lyrics:
Life is beauty through and through
Life is sunny, life is cool
    Life is even easy too
But if my word is to be true
    Life is something to behold
But if the truth is to be told
Let us not leave out any part
Do not fear, it's safe to say it here
You will not be called a weakling
    Nor a fraud
For feeling the pain of the whole wide world
You want to help but can't help the feeling you cannot
And it's killing you while you're just trying to smile from your heart
So go on, say it, on the same knees you're praying
    Yes, life is hard

    [Chorus]
    Come celebrate
    Life is hard
    Come celebrate Life is hard
All life is all we are

    Celebrate it in the sun
    Promenade it with everyone
    Elevate it in a song
And I'll be there to play it, don't get me wrong
When I feel like dying and being gone
    When life is hard
There's just one thing, let's not forget
    Yes! Life is it!

Life is it, life is it, it's where it's at
    It's getting skinny, getting fat
It's falling deep into a love,
It's getting crushed just like abut
Life there's no love, it's getting beat into the ground
It's getting lost and getting found,
To growing up and getting round
    It's feeling silence, feeling sound
    It's feeling lonely, feeling full
    It's feeling oh so beautiful!
    Yes!

    [Chorus]

    New Self-Titled Album Available Now.

    Download on iTunes:

    Lyrics:
    I've been trying to pretend
    That death is my friend
    Oh, this life
Yes, this life ain't for me now

    I've been lying to myself
    Not to nobody else
    Oh, this life
Yes, this life ain't for me now
    No

    LIAR
I'm telling the truth to y'all
    HIGHER
Gonna give a little proof to y'all
    HIGHER
I'm gonna jump in the fire

    Well I walked into black
    Said I weren't coming back
    Saw my angel in blue
She tell me This life ain't for you
    Oh, this life
Tell it to me - this life ain't for me now

    I woke up feeling new
'Cause now I know this life is for you
    Yes, this life
Oh, this life ain't for me now
    It's for you!

    LIAR
I'm telling the truth to y'all
    HIGHER
I'm gonna give a little proof to y'all
I'm gonna jump into the fire!

Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros talking favourite songs, live marriage proposals, fan encounters and more!

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is an American indie folk band formed in Los Angeles, California in 2007. Led by lead vocalist Alex Ebert, the group features a revolving lineup of up to 12 people. It began as a collaboration between Ebert and singer Jade Castrinos as part of a musical collective. Ebert's live persona and the band's name are based on the protagonist of a story he wrote, a messianic figure named Edward Sharpe. Drawing from roots rock, folk, gospel, and psychedelic music, the band's image and sound evoke the hippie movement of the 1960s and 1970s. The group's first show was played July 18, 2007 at The Troubadour in West Hollywood, California. Their first studio album, Up from Below, was released on July 7, 2009 on Community Records and featured the popular single Home. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros released their second full-length album, Here, on May 29, 2012. Their third album, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, was released on July 23, 2013.

Dear Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Thank you for your incredible music. I first heard your songs, when my sweet sister Sophie entered a music video contest producing a video for your song: All Wash Out. The combination of your beautiful music and her great talent has left an eternal imprint on my mind.
Sophie, my little sister was just 20 when she entered the contest. This Sunday we played the video at her memorial service. She passed away recently during an exchange semester in Prague. She suffered from a brain hemorrhage and just never woke up from her sleep one night.
I find the description (which went along with her video); A girl goes on a journey to wash away what's behind her leading to her rebirth incredibly moving as she would have no idea that she would soon leave this earth. Sophie was not meant to act in the video, but due to incredible karmic circumstances, the actress who was supposed to participate was prevented to come (last minute) and Sophie stepped in. Both acting and directing.
It gives indescribable joy and comfort to be able to turn to this video, during this period of grieving and to know that it will stay with us. She spread such an unbelievable amount of joy and light during her -- much too short -- life. And has left the world forever richer.
I realize that it is a long shot, but it would mean very, very much to us if there were any way you would be able to help share this last memory of Sophie.
In any case, I truly thank you for having been a catalyst in Soph leaving the world this beautiful video.
I apologize that my English is not sufficient to express my emotions (I am from Denmark), but I hope it has made sense.
    Thank you again, Luna.

    Lyrics:

    Here come chilly preacher
    Stumbling 'gainst the wind
Singing love, love is something to believe in
    A prayer and the sea
    And twenty tons of me
Crying love, love is something to believe in

To my child of wonder rambling
All my crooked fingers pointing blame
Let it all wash out in the rain
Yea let it all wash out in the rain

Beyond the drunken focus of my aim
All my heroes twisting in the flame
Let's let it all wash out in the rain
Let it all wash out in the rain

    One more for forgiveness
    Twisting in the cold
Singing love, love is something I believe in
    Too much my defenses
    Are dangling from the chain
Oh but free, free is something to believe in

To my God I want my gypsy train
Too my child a howlin' tambourine
Let it all wash out in the rain
Let it all wash out in the rain
Yes let it all wash out in the rain
Let it all wash out in the rain

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Home lyrics & traduzione

    4:24

    Lei:
    Alabama, Arkansas
Amo la mia mamma ed il mio papà
Sì, sai che amo anche te

    Lui:
    Accidenti a me, oh, cavoli,
sei la pupilla dei miei occhi
Non abbiamo mai amato nessuno come te

    Lei:

    Insieme:
Ah, casa, permettimi di tornare a casa
Casa è dovunque io sia con te
Ah, casa, permettimi di tornare a casa
Casa, tu sei me e io te

La la la la, portami a casa
    Mamma, sto tornando a casa

    Lui:
    Sono già a casa!
    Ti seguirò attraverso il parco,
    attraverso la giungla, nell'oscurità
Non ho mai amato nessuno come te, grazie!

    Lei:
    Fossati e barche e cascate,
    vicoli e chiamate a pagamento
Ho visto tutto ovunque con te

    Lui:
Ridiamo finché non ci sembra di morire,
a piedi nudi in una notte d'estate
Niente potrebbe essere più dolce di te

    Lei:
E per le strade corriamo liberi
ti voglio e tu mi vuoi
Accidenti, sei qualcosa che bisogna vedere

    Insieme:
Ah, casa, permettimi di tornare a casa
Casa è dovunque io sia con te
Ah, casa, permettimi di tornare a casa
Casa, tu sei me e io te

    Alabama, Arkansas
amo la mia mamma ed il mio papà

    Fossati e barche e cascate,
    vicoli e chiamate a pagamento

    Lei:
    Non so dove stiamo andando
Tutto ciò che so è che noi siamo casa
Non so di più, tutto ciò che so

    Insieme:
Tu sei me ed io sono te
