    Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper I love you
Birds singing in the sycamore trees
Dream a little dream of me

Say nighty night and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me
While I'm alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me

Stars fading but I linger on, dear
    Still craving your kiss
I'm longing to linger till dawn, dear
    Just saying this

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams, whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me

Doris Day singing, When I Fall In Love, from 1952.
I wanted to add since Doris Day passed away, a paragraph from her autobiography that has always stayed with me, to me this was Doris Day...it's the last paragraph in her autobiography...I think the greatest face-lift is a thinking-lift. Our faces reflect what we're thinking, and when we have clouded, negative, bitter thoughts, thoughts with fear and hate in them, our faces and our eyes show these things no matter what we do. When thoughts are positive and loving, a person's entire face relaxes. Down lines go up. Worry lines ease out. The body lifts in spirit; the soul is uplifted. It's the greatest cosmetic of all, and it doesn't cost a cent. RIP Doris Day, you will be forever missed and never forgotten. ♥

  • Doris Day - Autumn Leaves - 1956

    3:07

I came to know Doris Day and her music through my mother back in the 1950's. She loved Perry Como, Nat King Cole, and Doris Day. Her Columbia albums were often played in our home stereo in Cuba. Her clean, delicately textured, and melodic voice filled every room of our household. So it is with great nostalgia that I bring you this gem of a song- Autumn Leaves.

Autumn Leaves was originally a 1945 French song Les Feuilles Mortes (literally Dead Leaves) with music by Joseph Kosma and lyrics by poet Jacques Prévert, English lyrics were written in 1947 by the American songwriter Johnny Mercer. With Mercer's exquisite lyrics the song became even more beautiful, it not only conveyed it's message of sadness and longing, but painted a story with the colors of Autumn.

I thought it fitting to use pictures of Doris Day and Rock Hudson as the main protagonists, given their popularity as a Romantic Comedy acting team, and in honor and tribute to their lifelong friendship.

This song is very dear to me and this is one of the most beautiful covers I've ever heard, and I've heard most of them... Taken from the album Day by Day released by Columbia Records on December 17, 1956; here you have Doris Day accompanied by Paul Weston's orchestra rendering an exquisite and beautiful version of Autumn Leaves. Enjoy.
    Autumn Leaves

    The falling leaves
    Drift by my window
    The falling leaves
    Of red and gold

    I see your lips
    The summer kisses
    The sunburned hands
    I used to hold

    Since you went away
    The days grow long
    And soon I'll hear
    Old winter's song

But I miss you most of all
    My darling
    When autumn leaves
    Start to fall

    Since you went away
    The days grow long
    And soon I'll hear
    Old winter's song

But I miss you most of all
    My darling

  • When I Fall in Love Doris Day

    2:58

WhileWhen I Fall in Love is most closely associated with Nat King Cole and the Lettermen, the first hit version was recorded by Doris Day on June 5, 1952 and released by Columbia Records reaching number 20 on the Billboard chart. The song was written by Victor Young and Edward Heyman for the 1952 film, One Minute to Zero. While the movie has been largely forgotten, the song has become a classic. READY, WILLING AND ABLE
    (Gleason / Huddleston / Rinker)
    Doris Day

    I'm ready, willing and able
And honey, now it's up to you
So lay your cards on the table
And tell me what you plan to do

    I'm ready, able and willing
To join you in a little fun
But I won't take second billing
I've got to be your number one

I'm ready to give you my heart, dear
I'm willing to hand you the key
And I'm able to say from the start, dear
It's never belonged to anyone else but me

Oh, I'm ready, I'm willing and able
So if you want a love that's true
Just lay your cards on the table
'Cause honey, now it's up to you

    I'm ready
Oh yes, you know I'm ready, baby
    I'm able
Oh yes, you know I'm able, baby
    I'm willing
Oh yes, you know I'm willing, baby
    Now I've stated my condition
    I've got lots of ammunition

    Ready, willing and I'm able
So if you want a love that's true
Just lay your cards on the table
    'Cause honey
Honey, now it's up to you

    Lyrics:

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother, what will I be
    Will I be pretty
    Will I be rich
Here's what she said to me
    Que será, será
    Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
    Que será, será
    What will be, will be
When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart, what lies ahead
    Will we have rainbows
    Day after day
    Here's what my sweetheart said
    Que será, será
    Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
    Que será, será
    What will be, will be
Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother, what will I be
    Will I be handsome
    Will I be rich
    I tell them tenderly
    Que será, será
    Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
    Que será, será
    What will be, will be
    Que será, será
