???? Lyrics: Tones and I - Dance Monkey

    [Verse 1]
They say, Oh my god, I see the way you shine
Take your hand, my dear, and place them both in mine
You know you stopped me dead while I was passing by
And now I beg to see you dance just one more time

    [Pre-Chorus]
Ooh, I see you, see you, see you every time
And oh my, I, I like your style
You, you make me, make me, make me wanna cry
And now I beg to see you dance just one more time

    [Chorus]
    So they say
Dance for me, dance for me, dance for me, oh-oh-oh
I've never seen anybody do the things you do before
    They say
Move for me, move for me, move for me, ayy-ayy-ayy
And when you’re done I'll make you do it all again

    [Verse 2]
I said, Oh my god, I see you walking by
Take my hands, my dear, and look me in my eyes
Just like a monkey, I've been dancin’ my whole life
But you just beg to see me dance just one more time

    [Pre-Chorus]
Ooh, I see you, see you, see you every time
And oh my, I, I like your style
You, you make me, make me, make me wanna cry
And now I beg to see you dance just one more time

    [Chorus]
    So they say
Dance for me, dance for me, dance for me, oh-oh-oh
I've never seen anybody do the things you do before
    They say
Move for me, move for me, move for me, ayy-ayy-ayy
And when you're done I'll make you do it all again
    They say
Dance for me, dance for me, dance for me, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
I've never seen anybody do the things you do before
    They say
Move for me, move for me, move for me, ayy-ayy-ayy
And when you're done I'll make you do it all again

    [Bridge]
    Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
(Do it all again, do it all again, do it all again)
    Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
    Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh
(Do it all again, do it all again, do it all again)
    Ooh, ah-ah, ah-ah

    [Chorus]
    They say
Dance for me, dance for me, dance for me, oh-oh-oh

  • What Is A Preamp, And Do I Need One? | Studio Lesson ????

Learn even MORE about preamps ????

Sweetwater Sales Engineer Nitish Kulkarni gets down to the basics of what a preamplifier is, and explains when you would need one.

Wondering what a preamp is? In simplest terms, a preamp takes a weak signal from a microphone and makes it loud enough for you to send through a mixer or recording interface without introducing excessive noise into the signal. Preamps are often found in mixers and recording interfaces, and there are even standalone desktop preamps as well. When you get into standalone preamps, you can choose between tube mic preamps or solid-state preamps. Tube preamps rely on vacuum tubes to amplify the signal, and as the tubes have signal pushed through them, a pleasing distortion is added to the sound. Solid-state preamps use transistors to amplify the mic signal, and tend to sound cleaner than a tube-driven circuit.

Some preamps are modern versions of classic circuits that are famous for adding a distinct color to the sound, while others are prized for being transparent, passing signal with virtually no coloration to the sound. Whether you’re looking for something that leaves its mark on the tone or lets your sound shine through unfettered, Sweetwater has the right preamp for your studio. Be sure to call your Sales Engineer with any and all preamp questions you have.

  • 3 Steps To Building Kits BEFORE You Produce

    17:32

    Happy Tutorial Tuesday!!

A lot of you asked me last week if I could do a tutorial on how to organize and build kits, welp, ask and ye shall receive!???? ????

    Here's the thing...

If you're not organizing your samples before you start producing, you could be wasting precious time! ????

Staying on top of your sounds will help you save time and stop you from pulling your hair out wondering how that drumbeat in your head went, or worse; staring at a blank project, waiting for inspiration to hit you.????

Just grab a kit and start playing around! ???? ????????

I mean hey, if we're chefs cooking up beats, we've gotta prep our kitchens...right? ????‍???? ????‍????

Make a point to know where your pots and pans live, and what cabinet the salt is in!

I'll give you some tools and systems in this video, but no two chef's kitchens are the same; organize in a way that makes sense to YOU. ???? ????️ ????

  • Why Is Music So Bad?

    9:50

Lots of YouTubers have given their takes about why pop music is bad, or classical music is bad, or rap... or country, or various subgenres of rock...

    Wait, does everything suck?

Anyway, this is my take as a composer and evolutionary musicologist. Basically, whether or not something is good or bad is usually a stupid argument. You do you.

  • Making New York-style pizza at home

    8:35

    ***RECIPE, MAKES FOUR 12-INCH PIZZAS***

    For the dough:

    1 teaspoon active dry yeast
    1 teaspoon sugar
    ¼ cup warm water

    2 cups warm water
    1 tablespoon sugar
    1 tablespoon salt
    ¼ cup olive oil
5 cups bread flour, plus more as needed

Bloom the yeast in a stand mixer bowl with the teaspoon of sugar and ¼ cup water. When it’s frothy, add the rest of the ingredients and mix with the dough hook until a smooth ball comes together. It should be only slightly sticky; if it’s very sticky, add additional flour. Divide dough into four equal parts, roll each into a smooth ball and place in its own, well-oiled bowl. Age in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours or up to a week.

    For the sauce:

1 28-ounce can whole San Marzano tomatoes
    ¼ cup olive oil
½ teaspoon sugar, or more to taste
    1 teaspoon dried oregano
    2 tablespoons tomato paste

Remove tomatoes from their canning liquid and discard the liquid. Squish or blend the tomatoes until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and mix until smooth. Makes enough for four pizzas.

    For the cheese:

    6 ounces whole-milk, low-moisture mozzarella per pizza
    Grated parmesan for dusting

    Assembly:

Place pizza stone on middle rack and preheat oven on its maximum temperature for one hour. Use convection setting, if available. After pre-heating, stretch pizza dough and place on a well-dusted peel (stone-ground whole-wheat flour works best). Top with sauce, dusting of parmesan, and then the mozzarella. Bake for 5-6 minutes. Rest on cooling rack before slicing.

    ---

One of the most exciting new artists on the storied Anjunadeep roster, Marsh (aka Tom Marshall) soars into autumn with his new single ‘Lailonie.’ The song is the title track and first single from the UK-bred / Cincinnati-based producer’s upcoming album, out November 20.

The LP and its title track are a testament to the healing and spiritual power of music in the face of tragedy, coming together in the wake of the unexpected passing of a beloved family member.

Written over the past three years, the album is inspired by this and other impactful life experiences, along with some of the beautiful places Tom has visited whilst producing the album.

“Lailonie’, pronounced ‘Lay-lah-knee’, has been a safe place for me to express a multitude of feelings, moments and memories I’ve experienced over the last three years. The album is a series of snapshots taken at different points as I’ve processed moving to a new country, getting married, traveling to different places. I’ve also experienced the pain of loss. We unexpectedly and suddenly had to say goodbye to Maddy’s Mom Carme at the end of 2018. I’ve had to rapidly learn how to love and stand by Maddy as we process this pain. We live in a world with so much going on. I think it’s important to have a safe place where you can go to catch your breath, process life and grow. Lailonie has been that place for me. I hope it can be that place for you.”

‘Lailonie’ features collaborations from a wide array of talented artists including organic house music producer Wassu, soulful, jazzy vocalist Leo Wood, UK producer Phenoir, Cincinnati-based vocalist Mariel Beausejour, Austin-based songstress Mimi Page, and progressive house producer Forerunners.

Marsh’s music has been supported by the likes of Joris Voorn, Kölsch and Rufus Du Sol, along with Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Phil Taggart at BBC Radio 1. His new album follows the release of his acclaimed collaboration with Nox Vahn, ‘Come Together’, featuring a moving spoken word sample from revered philosopher Alan Watts. On the live side, Marsh has performed at esteemed venues on both sides of the Atlantic, including Printworks London and The Brooklyn Mirage.

With ‘Lailonie’ Marsh continues to tell his story of healing and inner peace through his enchantingly deep and progressive sound, and looks set to follow in the footsteps of fellow Anjunadeep alumni such as Lane 8, Yotto and Ben Böhmer on his rise to the top of the dance music world.

‘Lailonie’ is available November 20 from Anjunadeep.

  • Rules of Tone - Frets

    7:09

The first thing you notice when you pick up a guitar is how it feels in your hands. The guitar neck is paramount to that moment, and the feel and function of the frets plays a major role in this. If you boil it down, we're basically talking about fret material and shape. If the material is too soft, metal flakes will fall off of the guitar as it's played. If it's too hard, the frets contour to the fretboard. We use the hardest, functional material we can to avoid unnecessary re-frets. We also superglue the frets in their slots to avoid fret movement and to avoid introducing water back into the neck. As far as shape goes, a fret needs to be level and perfectly radiused to maintain the integrity and comfort of the neck, prevent string buzz, and give the instrument the ability to have low action.

Frets also contribute to an instrument's overall tone. Obviously, they create the scalable notes of the guitar, but it is also important to note that when a string is engaged against a fret, the fret is carrying the string's vibration into the wood. So, they can either add to or take away from a guitar's natural resonance and musicality. We use frets with a lot of nickel, which rings well. And between the fret radius, the superglue, and the tines of the fret, they fit so well in the fret slots that the sound transfer is unhindered.

In the end, the point is that every piece of the puzzle is important, including frets.

  • Audient ID22 USB Interface and ASP880 Set Up

    3:43

Audient id22 and ASP880 in action

This is the Audient’s iD22 USB audio interface and monitor controller.

It’s a high quality desktop solution for MAC or PC recording, with many features you might not expect to find on a unit of this price.

The iD22 has two very high quality low-noise class-A pre-amps (as you would expect from a company renowned for its microphone preamps and analogue mixers), with switchable phantom power, 10dB pad, phase inversion, and high pass filters, plus balanced insert points. Channel two also has an alternative high impedance input to accept signals from low level instrument sources like guitar or bass.

The inputs are then fed into high-performance 24-bit/96kHz converters, and can be flexibly routed using the integrated DSP mixer.

More of that in a moment.

Let’s take a quick look at the other inputs and outputs that make the iD22 so versatile..

There are 6 analogue outputs in total: a pair of main outputs, an alternative stereo line output and a separate stereo headphone bus that feeds a studio-grade high current headphone amplifier.
Now this is where the iD22 starts to differentiate itself from other similarly-priced interfaces…

The various outputs, in conjunction with the main volume control, dedicated dim and cut buttons, and User Programmable Function Keys, mean the iD22 can be configured to act as a monitor switcher and controller – simply plug your main monitors from outputs 1 and 2, a second monitoring system from outputs 3 and 4, and headphones from the headphone output, for complete control over your listening environment.

The assignable function buttons are the icing on the cake here, they can be configured to control output selection with programmable alt output level, MONO sum, polarity reverse and talkback.
Alternatively, you can use the various outputs to give performers separate mixes whilst tracking. This flexibility means the iD22 will always be able to cope with the way you want to work, with a simple routing matrix accessed through the control panel.

That’s the basics of the iD22 - A well-featured, very high quality interface that can cope with smaller sessions or home production.

But what if you want to record the whole band? Or an acoustic drum kit?

This is where the Audient ASP880 comes into play…

Designed with the same no-nonsense approach, and to a similarly high quality, the ASP880 can expand your inputs with eight more seriously good console-grade mic preamps. Connecting the ASP880 to the iD22’s ADAT input gives a total of 10 mic preamps – plenty enough for most tracking sessions – and all with great fidelity and incredibly low noise floor.

A few tweaks to the control panel, and the iD22 locks to the digital clock of the ASP880.

The only thing to make sure of is that you manually set the ASP880 sample rate to be the same as your project.

Each channel of the ASP880 has 60dB of gain, switchable phantom power, phase reverse, high pass filter (variable from 25 – 250 Hz), input impedance selection (for various microphone types), insert point, and peak and signal LEDs. Channels one and two also have high-impedance jack inputs for instruments.

On the back of the unit we have the XLR combi inputs, balanced insert points (using DB25 connectors), 2 ADAT outputs (the second one only required when recording at higher sample rates using SMUX), a wordclock input, and stereo digital output (switchable between AES and S/PDIF).

So, the ASP880 offers eight channels of uncompromising audio quality, and when used in conjunction with the iD22 interface, creates a multitrack recording system that will make sure you capture your music at the very best quality.

  • Armin van Buuren feat. Ana Criado - Down To Love

    3:20

    Pre-order the 'Mirage' album NOW:

Pre-order Armin's Artist Album 'Mirage' (CD) here:

Right after summer, it's time for the full 'Mirage' album to take over. Inspired and influenced by many different types of music, 'Mirage' is more diverse than any other Armin album before. His collaboration with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, 'Not Giving Up On Love' is a perfect example of that, combining the best of both worlds. Armin:The Nervo Sisters, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and me met up to write the vocals for 'Not Giving Up On Love'. I was thrilled to work with them on this. We gave it a more analog feel with some real drums, to give it a pop-rock feel. We also put a piano top line on the track and then the vocals of Sophie, which I think is a win. It's a lush summer tune with an epic vocal that gets stuck in your head and cheers you up!

'Mirage' is filled with musical fusions and surprising interpretations, from the orchestral masterpiece of title track 'Mirage', deep trance track 'I Don't Own You' and housy 'Feels So Good' to the eerie 'Take A Moment' and feel-good 'Drowning'. 16 tracks that highlight how Armin has matured as an artist.

Mirage will be in stores September 10th 2010.

    17:05

One of the many ways to use the HD500X is to set up a patch and then use the 8 footswitches to turn single effects on and off, as if you had 8 single pedals in a pedal board. The advantage of doing it with a multi fx is that you have HD amp modelling and over 100 pedals to choose from, and when saved as a single patch, you can recall many different setups for different songs ! Ideal ! Paul Hindmarsh from Line 6 takes from power up patch 1A to stomp box mode in easy steps!

  • Weezer - The End Of The Game

    3:21

“The End Of The Game” from the album “Van Weezer” out now - Watch the video starring Cherry Glazerr.

    Pre-order Van Weezer:

    Directed by Danilo Parra

    LYRICS

Hey Suzy, where you been today?
I'm looking for you every way
No sign of you when I wake up
I'm on an island with no sun
I feel like I've known you my whole life
You got my crying like when Aslan died
    Now you're gone…

    The melody can't find you
    I'm incomplete without you
I guess we've reached the end of the game
    Ooo-oo hit me

I know that you would crank this song
    Air-guitaring with your headphones on
We dig the same type of melodies
The ones to get you next to me
I was Mick and you were Marianne
You would harmonize when I felt bad
    But now you're gone…

    The melody can't find you
    I'm incomplete without you
I guess we've reached the end of the game
    Ooo-oo hit me
Am I your go-to, or am I uncool
With all of these extremes that I go to
All I want is to be wanted by you
All I want is to be wanted by you

    The melody can't find you
    I'm incomplete without you
I guess we've reached the end of the game
    Ooo-oo hit me

  • Nut Materials - PRS Rules of Tone w/ Paul Reed Smith

    4:46

Here is a video about the beginnings of our theories and experiential understanding of nut materials. As we said in the Rules of Tone segment on our Phase III Tuners: every part of a guitar has an effect on its overall tone. The nut is no exception. Some things are pretty obvious...the nut should not grab the strings, for example. What may not seem so obvious, is the importance and impact the selection of nut material can have. The nut material should always add to the resonance of the guitar. To exaggerate it and boil it down to the bone, almost anyone will admit that a guitar with a silicone rubber nut will sound different than a guitar with a steel nut. It is definitely an important piece of the puzzle.

    ✨ SALSA CUBANA ✨CONGO TO CUBA(Vol.2) • PUTUMAYO WORLD MUSIC✨FEEL GOOD ????✨

Putumayo World Music is a New York City-based record label that specializes in compilations of world music.

This compilation examines the connection between modern African music and Cuban styles that evolved from a slow-simmering cross-pollination of Spanish melodies and rhythms imported by homesick slaves. When Latin albums eventually found their way home to the Continent, local musicians immediately recognized the link and re-Africanized the tunes for their own markets. These versions then traveled back to the Caribbean, resealing the cultural circle and launching dozens of further permutations. The selections on this set are very well chosen, given that the subject is a huge one and a single CD is hardly adequate to the task. Gnonnas Pedro and Labah Soseh, two pioneering vocalists who hail from Benin and Gambia, respectively, receive well-deserved places of honor. Other master tracks include Congolese diva Tshala Muana's hypnotic Lekela Muadi, and Canto a la Vueltabajera by Cuba's Alfredo Valdés, which abounds in goofy classical piano.

In 1991, on his way home from Bali, Dan Storper stopped in San Francisco, California. In Golden Gate Park, he heard the Nigerian band Kotoja. He was impressed by the music and the way it gathered many different people. He made a compilation of music he had gathered on his journeys and gathered a positive response. This led him to give out his first release in 1993. Storper took the name of his record label, Putumayo, from Colombia's Putumayo Department where he travelled in 1974, which subsequently came from the name of Putumayo River. The word is said to be the name of a bird (heron).

Every release features the art of Nicola Heindl. Her art is both folky and modern, and, according to the Putumayo website, represents one of Putumayo's goals: to connect the traditional to the contemporary.

Typically a Putumayo World Music compilation is presented as a theme under the title “Putumayo Presents:” The themes can be regional (South Africa, Caribbean, Asia), music types (reggae, folk, Latin, jazz) and other themes (lounge, groove, party).

In this Compilation you will find the best selection of Guajiras, Guarachas, Boogaloos, Chachas, Descargas, Guaguancos, Pachangas, Rumbas, Cumbias, Afro-cuban Jazz and Salsa.

    Mirage is out now!
