For the best quality of a synchronization I had to mount this video from few different sources. I think my version is better than the official clip. :) Take a look another good video - Я смонтировал это видео из нескольких исходников. По сути это - клип, а не концертное выступление под фанеру. Поэтому к поклонникам живого звука большая просьба не возмущаться. :)

    For more info -

Few bands are more closely associated with Montreux than Deep Purple and there was simply no other contender when it came to choosing the act to headline the closing night of the 40th Montreux Festival in 2006. The band duly delivered one of their finest live performances, sprinkling songs from their latest album Rapture Of The Deep through a set chock full of their classic tracks. There was even a brand new song Too Much Fun written especially for the occasion and, of course, a show-stopping performance of Smoke On The Water.

We all came out to Montereax,
    On the Lake Geneva shoreline.
To make records with a mobile,
    We didn't have much time.
But Frank Zappa and the Mothers,
Were at the best place around,
But some stupid with a flare gun,
Burned the place to the ground.
Smoke on the water and fire in the sky.
    Smoke on the water...

They burned down the gambling house,
It died with an awful sound.
(Uh) Funky Claude was running in and out,
    Pulling kids out the ground.
    When it all was over,
We had to find another place.
But Swiss time was running out,
It seemed that we would lose the race.
Smoke on the water and fire in the sky.
    Smoke on the water...

We ended up at the Grand Hotel.
It was empty cold and bare.
But with the Rolling truck Stones thing just outside,
    Making our music there.
With a few red lights, a few old beds,
We made a place to sweat.
No matter what we get out of this,
    I know I know we'll never forget.
Smoke on the water and fire in the sky.
    Smoke on the water...

  • Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water LIVE HD - Arena di Verona

    9:05

Concert at the Arena di Verona, a roman amphitheater originally built in 30 A.D, Live in Verona

After a brief orchestral intro, things kick in with a rousing ‘Highway Star.’ All these years on, and singer Ian Gillan is still able to deliver. Though not the full-on force of nature he was 40 years ago, he is powerful throughout the entire performance. Highlights are plenty: ‘Hard Lovin’ Man,’ ‘Maybe I’m a Leo’ and ‘Strange Kind of Woman’ are all done justice here.

Though the presence of keyboard legend Jon Lord is missed, replacement Don Airey holds down the fort with respect. Meanwhile, this performance shines a bright light on the attributes of Steve Morse on guitar. He has certainly settled into his role in the band since joining in 1994.
The orchestral backing here is never a distraction, and on certain songs (‘Rapture of the Deep’ and, surprisingly, ‘Woman from Tokyo’) it adds an unexpected dimension. That being said, and to be perfectly honest, they don’t need any added power, especially with the main man, Ian Paice behind the drum kit. He and bassist Roger Glover still combine to make one of the finest rhythm sections ever to wander onto a rock stage.

    Lyrics:

The sky is red, I dont understand,
Past midnight I still see the land.
People are sayin the woman is damned,
She makes you burn with a wave of her hand.
The citys a blaze, the towns on fire.
The womans flames are reaching higher.
We were fools, we called her liar.
    All I hear is burn!

I didnt believe she was devils sperm.
She said, curse you all, youll never learn!
When I leave theres no return.
The people laughed till she said, burn!
    Warning came, no one cared.
Earth was shakin, we stood and stared.
When it came no one was spared.
    Still I hear burn!

You know we had no time,
    We could not even try.
You know we had no time.

You know we had no time,
    We could not even try.
You know we had no time.

    Lyrics:
I got a certain little girl she's on my mind
No doubt about it she looks so fine
She's the best girl that I ever had
Sometimes she's gonna make me feel so bad

    Hush, hush
I thought I heard her calling my name now
    Hush, hush
She broke my heart but I love her just the same now
    Hush, hush
Thought I heard her calling my name now
    Hush, hush
I need her loving and I'm not to blame now

    (Love, love)
They got it early in the morning
    (Love, love)
They got it late in the evening
    (Love, love)
Well, I want that, need it
    (Love, love)
Oh, I gotta gotta have it

    She's got loving like quicksand
Only took one touch of her hand
To blow my mind and I'm in so deep
    That I can't eat and I can't sleep

    Listen
    Hush, hush
Thought I heard her calling my name now
    Hush, hush
She broke my heart but I love her just the same now
    Hush, hush
Thought I heard her calling my name now
    Hush, hush
I need her loving and I'm not to blame now

    (Love, love)
They got it early in the morning

I have often told you stories
    About the way
I lived the life of a drifter
    Waiting for the day
    When I'd take your hand
    And sing you songs
    Then maybe you would say
Come lay with me love me
    And I would surely stay

But I feel I'm growing older
And the songs that I have sung
    Echo in the distance
    Like the sound
    Of a windmill goin' 'round
    I guess I'll always be
    A soldier of fortune

Many times I've been a traveller
    I looked for something new
    In days of old
    When nights were cold
    I wandered without you
But those days I thougt my eyes
    Had seen you standing near
    Though blindness is confusing
It shows that you're not here

Now I feel I'm growing older
And the songs that I have sung
    Echo in the distance
    Like the sound
    Of a windmill goin' 'round
    I guess I'll always be
    A soldier of fortune
Yes, I can hear the sound
    Of a windmill goin' 'round
    I guess I'll always be
    A soldier of fortune

In 1969 Deep Purple premiered Jon Lord's groundbreaking Concerto For Group And Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall. Thirty years later, in September 1999, Deep Purple and the London Symphony Orchestra returned to the same venue for the concerto's second performance. The centrepiece of the concert is of course the concerto itself but it is preceded by a short set of other Jon Lord tracks, songs from Roger Glover's Butterfly Ball (sung by Ronnie James Dio) and Ian Paice's jazz arrangement of the early Purple classic Wring That Neck. Following the concerto are five Deep Purple classics culminating with Smoke On The Water.

    20:34

Here's the next episode of Chordplay with The Chords Of Deep Purple. I've had a lot of requests to feature some more of Ritchie Blackmore's music, so I felt it was time to finally take a look at some of his chord-based ideas from his days playing with the mighty Deep Purple.

While Steve Morse has been the guitarist in Deep Purple since 1996 (and I'm a MASSIVE Steve Morse fan), this lesson will mainly focus on Blackmore's reign playing in the band during the 1970s, and also includes one chord-based idea from the legendary Tommy Bolin from the under-appreciated album 'Come Taste The Band' when Tommy was in the group along with David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes.

As far as Ritchie's groundbreaking ideas and his massive influence on the legion of guitarists that followed in his footsteps, there's no question that modern rock, hard rock, and metal guitar owes a large debt of gratitude and respect for Ritchie and the various things that he uncovered and shared with musicians and music fans all over the world. From his roaring fleet-fingered solos and licks to timeless riffs and melodies, not to mention the crunching chords and ringing chord-based flavors in his music, which paved the way for everything that came after this beyond-important and legendary rock group.

    9:19

That's your lot in life Lalena
    Can't blame you, oh, Lalena

Run your hands through your hair
Paint your face, pait you face up with despair

  • Deep Purple Perfect Strangers ”

    6:42

“From The Setting Sun… (In Wacken) …To The Rising Sun (In Tokyo)” is now available as one release with both shows on Blu-ray.
Order here: “From The Setting Sun… (In Wacken)” and “…To The Rising Sun (In Tokyo)”

Written by Roger Glover: One band, two crowds, two countries – a tale of two cities indeed. From Germany’s Wacken Open Air Festival, one of the biggest metal festivals in the world – and a city unto itself – to Japan and the stately Nippon Budokan, the most revered venue in Tokyo. Each with its own distinct personality.

Wacken is a success story beyond par, starting out humbly by two friends in a field in rural Germany and becoming one of the best organized and attended metal festivals ever. We were most impressed by the facilities, security, backstage, camping… in fact the whole production was superb.
As was the crowd, an awesome sight from the stage, generating a palpable sense of occasion. In the sunset, we were treated to a great welcome from the sea of tattoos and black leather facing us.

Festival crowds are unique because most people are there for the occasion itself rather than for any particular band. For us that is always a welcome challenge and a chance to connect with many who may never have seen us before. But the real stars are all in the audience. Thank you, Wacken.

By way of contrast, the Budokan is a temple of peace (except for the infamous occasion when all the seating was destroyed). “Made In Japan” was partially recorded there and we’ve played there many times since. For such a large space, the acoustics are excellent; this special building never ceases to impress.
On this particular evening, we came in at the back door, climbed the cool, marble staircase and entered the familiar dressing room. Feeling like we’re the only people in the building, it’s hard to believe there’s even an audience out there.
But there is, young and old, sitting patiently or chatting quietly – the embodiment of civility. It’s almost like the respectful hush one might find in a cathedral. But they’re here to rock. And rock they do. They may be quiet while they’re waiting but far from shy during the show. They gave us an unforgettable evening. Thank you, Tokyo.

  • Deep Purple - Highway Star, Black Night e Smoke on the water

    11:16

    Mitteleuropa Orchestra
    Igor Zobin Direttore

Deep Purple’s Suite DEEP PURPLE 1972
