    Lyrics:

    Verse —
    The Lord bless you
    And keep you
Make His face shine upon you
    And be gracious to you
    The Lord turn His
    Face toward you
    And give you peace
As we receive, we agree, amen

    Chorus —
    Amen, amen, amen

    Verso — [en Español]
    Dios te guarde y bendiga
    Que extienda Su amor
    Y te muestre favor
Dios te mire con agrado y te dé paz

    Bridge —
May His favor be upon you
    And a thousand generations
And your family and your children

All around you, and within you
He is with you, He is with you

    4:20

The Book of Psalms commonly referred to simply as Psalms, is a book of the Hebrew Bible, the Christian Bible, and the Islamic Zabur. Taken together, its 150 poems express virtually the full range of Israel's religious faith. These 150 prayers and hymns were used by the Hebrew people to express their relationship with God. The Old Testament Psalms are not just poetry; they are Hebrew poetry. They cover the whole range of human emotions from joy to anger, from hope to despair. It has a unique style and structure of its own, very different from the poetry of our time. Seventy-three of the 150 Psalms in the Bible are attributed to David.

In 1982, Hawkins founded the Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar, an annual week-long convention that offers workshops exploring all facets of the gospel industry and culminating each year with a live performance by the assembled mass choir. His Music and Arts Seminar has grown (it rivals G.M.W.A.) and includes members from the U.S., Europe, and Japan.

From a 1990 album recorded at a convention in Chicago, IL.,Edwin Hawkins Music & Arts Seminar Mass Choir, My Shepherd, a new contemporary arrangement of the Lord Is My Shepherd. Lead vocals by Edwin Hawkins & Brenda Roy

  • Botany Patamundhi Song - Maestro Ilaiyaraaja Music Concert 2013 - Telugu - California, USA

    6:53

    Botany Patamundhi Song --

'idi Sangeetha thirunallu' (this is a music festival) said the legend, musical maestro, Padmabhushan Ilaiyaraaja in one occasion, though he never speaks much about himself or his music to the nearly 10000 cheering audience in HP Pavilion, San Jose, California, on Friday, 1st March 2013 when he gave a non-stop musical performance from 7.30pm to 12 midnight.

The program started with Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu slokam and then Maestro dressed in traditional Dhovatti & Kanduva entered the stage amid thunderous applause by all the audience and started with wonderful song from Thai Mookambikai- the evergreen Janani Janani. Maestro delivered the song in a commendable way.

For music lovers drawn from both Tamil & Telugu community in and around Bay Area, it is a feast to the eyes and ears as they could see all their favorite music celebrities at one go..namely S.P.Bala Subrarahmanyam, K.S.Chitra, Hariharan, Mano, Karthik, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Bhavatharini, Geetha Madhuri, Priya, Anita, Ramya, Priya Darshini, and above all the Music Maestro Ilaiyaraaja.

Ilaiyaraaja sir said that music is more than temple and people with their love for music shall not kindle it, someone in the auditorium rightly said that only Ilaiyaraaja is named as Maestro because he considers music as more than temple.

    Highlights:

    1. SP Balu & Ilaiyaraaja sir were engaged in some entertaining conversations to engage the audience. The two had great memories and experience to offer to the audience that was priceless. Their team work and common thoughts on stage was a feast to watch and enjoy.

    2. SP Balu sang Lalitha Priya Kalalam (Rudra Veena). He said he tried to improvise it a bit. But said the original sung by Sri Yesudas was a classic. SP Balu enthralled the audience with his perfection in complex songs such as Thakita Thathimi, Oh Priya Priya, Idhazhil Kadhai, Keeravani, etc.

    3. Mano sang many Telugu songs jointly along with SP Balu.

    4. Among the songs sung by Chitra, Ninnukori Varnam, Thamthana thamthana, Sundari Kannal, Oo Priya Priya were brilliant.

    5. In addition to the legend singers, the large orchestra and backing vocals was a feast to hear and watch. Over 70 musicians on the stage with different instruments really took the songs to the utmost high-level leaving the audience speechless and glued to the chairs for entire concert till the end.

    Some of the songs performed:

    In Telugu:
Jagadananda Kaaraka- (Sreerama Rajyam), Ninnu Kori Varnam - (Gharshana), Mounamela Noyi (Saagara Sangamam), Enno Rathrulostayi (Dharma Kshtram), Balapam Patti Bhama (Bobbili Raaja), Lalitha Priya Kamalam (Rudra Veena), Prathi kshnam nee -(Anumanaspadam), Chukkalu temanna --(April 1st Vidudala), Priya Priyatama raagalu --(Killer), O Priya Priya --(Geetanjali), Botony Patamundi--(Siva), Ade Neevu -- (Abhinandana), Keeravani --( Anveshana) , Priyatama Nanu --(JVAS), Thakita Thadimi --(Saagara sangamam)

  • Cant Send the Children to School by Chicago Beau

    6:25

'Can't Send the Children to School' is a tune I recorded in 1993 on my CD Having a Fit Over Your Love.
I was motivated to write this song because of the tremendous amount of violence in Chicago schools. Unfortunately, the situation remains the same. The message is that the people in the communities where so much violence occurs have to take charge, '....we can only blame ourselves

The photos were randomly selected from different gigs over a number of years.

  • Beatbox brilliance | Tom Thum | TEDxSydney

    11:39

Never miss a talk! SUBSCRIBE to the TEDx channel:

Tom Thum: Armed with just a microphone, Thum pushes the limits of the human voice to create incredible soundtracks of impossible beats and phenomenal sounds, with scratched vinyl, the Michael Jackson back-catalogue, the didgeridoo and an entire fifties jazz band amongst his vocal repertoire.

You can follow Tom on FaceBook (TomThummer) and Twitter (@tomthummer)

Quoting from ABC's Triple J Unearthed website:

TOM THUM, THE VERSATILE VOICEBOX 'Tom Thum appears to have swallowed an entire orchestra and several backing singers' The Guardian (UK)

'There are not enough superlatives to describe the wonder of this beatboxing virtuoso - I am still trying to figure out how he got those sounds out of his mouth' The Daily Telegraph (UK)
'The mic master seems to have an orchestra living in his throat: trumpet blasts, guitar strums and samples from classic songs including Michael Jackson's Billie Jean effortlessly spout from his mouth' Time Out, NY

These are apt quotes to describe the performance of one of Australia's most prominent and respected beatboxers and serial pests. Only in his mid-twenties Tom Thum has achieved and experienced more than most artists could hope to achieve in a lifetime. From winning the team battles (alongside Joel Turner) in the World Beatbox Championships in 2005, to fulfilling every artists dream and performing on Broadway in New York with the Tom Tom Crew, Tom has seen his fair share of accolades and well and truly paid his dues. Raised by the small but accommodating Brisbane hip hop scene, Tom started out as a graffiti writer and a Bboy but slowly rose to recognition through his ability to produce unhuman sounds and his natural knack for performing and weaselling his way on stage...

Although the stage seems the ideal habitat for Tom he is also no stranger to community and has been helping the scene improve through conducting a plethora of workshops in many places that usually wouldn't have access to such knowledge and skill. Tom has travelled from the very top of Australia teaching in the Indigenous communities of Mornington and Thursday Islands all the way to the very bottom with a series of workshops in Tasmania and Adelaide.

He has also spent considerable time teaching on Palm Island and in Charleville and many other places that would otherwise be Starved for education about proper hip hop and the positive message that music preaches.

As Tom's experience within the music industry expands, he plans to push the limits of the human voice as far as inhumanly possible. Enrolling the help of numerous loop stations, Tom has been conducting DJ sets using only his voice and nothing else, propelling crowds across the country into a frenzy of jaw-dropping disbelief, as he re-creates and remixes classic joints and jams from all eras and genres. At present Tom is working on an album ranging across many different generes and features and hopes to have it finished by early 2012. You might see him on a stage at a festival looping up a storm or supporting anyone from the Hilltop Hoods to Blue King Brown, or you might catch him annoying the hell out of commuters on public transport. Either way, you will notice him soon enough. Keep an ear out for Tom Thum.

    Lyrics:

I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
    She's coming in twelve-thirty flight
Her moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say: Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

  • How Holy Family Parish engaged its multigenerational community with OCPs Spirit & Song hymnal

    2:54

In this video, Chris Brunelle, music director at Holy Family Parish in Portland, Oregon, explains why he uses the Spirit & Song, Third Edition, hymnal to engage his multigenerational parish.

    Meet Chris.

Chris is the full-time music director of Holy Family Catholic Church, a parish tucked away in a quiet residential area of Portland. Home to a school and more than 400 families, the church buzzes with energy on Sundays. During the Sign of Peace, elders reach across the aisle to embrace small children, and teens clasp hands with their parents.

This is a parish where keeping everyone — from children to seniors — involved and engaged in the liturgy is crucial to their Catholic formation. That’s where Chris comes in. Each week, he has the important responsibility of choosing music from Spirit & Song that brings parishioners of all ages into full, active and conscious participation.

Learn how Holy Family united their multigenerational parish with Spirit & Song.

Resurrection Band, also known as Rez Band or REZ, was a Christian rock band formed in 1972. They were based out of the Jesus People USA Christian community in Chicago, Illinois, and most of its members continue to be part of that community to this day. Known for their blend of blues rock and hard rock, Resurrection Band Christian rock band is credited as one of the forerunners of the Christian metal genre, releasing their debut in 1978. The band's greatest popularity was during the early 1980s, but later in the decade, they received some crossover success when they had two music videos featured on MTV.

Led by the husband-and-wife team of Glenn and Wendi Kaiser, this Christian rock band sought to evangelize using Christian rock, and addressed a variety of social ills in the lyrics of their music. While the group is officially disbanded, they occasionally play one-off dates at the Cornerstone Festival, which members of the band helped establish. Currently Glenn Kaiser has an established solo career as a blues musician and is also a speaker on various spiritual issues to youth and adults. - From the website From Christian Rock to the Rock of Ages

    4:14

So, here's my contribution to the popular thread going around the VC called Sealed to Revealed. The idea originated over at Corey's VC Channel:

Basically, the theme is taking a brand new, still sealed record from the collection and opening it on video. Easy enough.

For my video, I went with a Sonic Youth live LP that I snagged a while back, but had yet to open up and check out. SY are among my favorite bands, and pretty much everything they do is cool to me.

  • Agape Ringers Sizzle Reel 2014

    5:26

The Agape Ringers: Chicago's Premier Handbell Ensemble:

Since 1992, when David L. Weck gathered a group of musicians to found an initially-unnamed handbell ensemble, we've shared our music with audiences from England to New England and from San Juan to the Pacific Northwest in over 250 live performances. We've been honored to perform six times at national events of the Handbell Musicians of America, and we've also been heard by directors around the ringing world on all promotional recordings for Hope Publishing Company's handbell catalog since 1992.

As a community of sixteen handbell musicians, we bring over 410 years of ringing experience to this uniquely collaborative musical art. We share an instrument comprised of more than 200 individual handbells and handchimes. We love to share our skill and enthusiasm with others through workshops offered with Handbell Musicians of America, and by serving in leadership roles at the local and national levels of that organization.

Touring allows us to teach and perform outside of our Chicago-area base, and in the past we've been fortunate to travel to England, Puerto Rico, Canada, and many areas of the U.S. Our eleven-day 2012 Midwest tour wowed over 1,500 ringer musicians and concert-goers at two festivals and five concerts as we looped through the St. Louis area, the Kansas City area, Omaha, Duluth, and back home again.

The Agape Ringers is an auditioned group of musicians who have chosen to express their musical talents through the skill of handbell ringing. Our mission is four-fold:

To inspire audiences through the art of handbell ringing
To challenge ourselves to reach higher standards of musical accomplishment
To encourage handbell directors and ringers through our leadership and teaching
To foster a warm, caring community of friends

The Agape Ringers is proud to be a member of the Handbell Musicians of America, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the musical art of handbell and handchime ringing through education, community, and communication.

For information about scheduling an appearance by The Agape Ringers, we encourage you to contact David Weck, Musical Director, david@hopepublishing.com.

    Concert Performances
Invitations and inquiries are welcomed. Performances can be scheduled up to two years in advance. Regular concerts are performed throughout the year and special holiday repertoire is highlighted by our annual Sounds of the Season performance in December .

    Educational Workshops
Would you like to host or attend a handbell workshop? The Agape Ringers are clinicians at these hands-on, interactive and engaging events. These workshops are typically scheduled for a date in the fall or early spring and can easily be tailored to fit your needs.

Each track captures a moment in time, whether for a person or a particular place. Imagine if a John Steinbeck short story had been written as a song, and this will give you a fairly good idea as to what Chicago Farmer accomplishes on his albums.

  • Chicago Chamber Brass: Fanfare by Leon Stein

    2:10

Fanfare for Brass Quintet by Leon Stein
    Performed by Chicago Chamber Brass

Leon Stein (1910-2002), native Chicagoan and distinguished American composer, wrote over 100 works, including four symphonies and five string quartets (recorded by the Chicago Symphony Sting Quartet) and numerous ensemble and solo compositions. These have won important awards and have been performed internationally. He has been hailed as a composer of first-rate American music and one of the few contemporary masters. On the occasion of his 70th birthday the American Music Center wrote, We salute you as a sterling representative of American music and a leader of the musical community. He was honored with the post of Dean Emeritus of the De Paul University School of Music, and authored STRUCTURE AND STYLE and ANTHOLOGY OF MUSICAL FORMS and wrote extensively on Jewish music. He was also the conductor of several area ensembles, including the City Symphony Orchestra of Chicago; a group he lead for 20 years.

The FANFARE FOR BRASS QUINTET was commissioned by radio station WFMT, Chicago, to celebrate its 30th year in broadcasting. It was one of 12 fanfares commissioned for this purpose. Dr. Stein and 11 other composers submitted works that were recorded and broadcast over WFMT every day through all of 1981; one fanfare for each month. The FANFARE FOR BRASS QUINTET was the fanfare for the month of July and was recorded by Chicago Chamber Brass. Its 'premiere performance' was, of course, July 1, 1981, via the airwaves. The first actual live performance of the work was given three days later at a Fourth of July celebration in Bolingbrook, Illinois, again, by Chicago Chamber Brass.

Please forgive the bit of distortion toward the beginning of the video. The audio was taken from an old, slightly degraded, cassette tape.
