    Get it here:

In electronic music, Christian Burns’ collaborative roll call is about as starry as it gets. BT, Tiësto, Armin, PvD, Chicane, Oakenfold, Corsten - just some of the names who, over time, have sought out his unmistakable voice and incisive lyrics.
It is indeed a far greater rarity to see the GRAMMY nominated singer/songwriter’s name unlinked to an international superstar and running entirely solo. On his latest work however, it’s with good reason. In virtually every respect, ‘You’re Not Alone’ is a departure from Christian’s best-known-for.Cool of tempo, but rich in harmony and stylish ether, in its original form the track places yet greater emphasis on penetrating lyrics, affecting emotion and cooler production sophistication. Through ‘You’re Not Alone’, Christian relates an equal parts uplifting and elegiac tale, instilling an innate balance between its feel & fever. Yearning verses slowly increase its emotional fire, while its quietly wrenching chorus releases the tension cathartically. Musically it draws on analogue-sounding synths, which add an understated 80’s aura to its production. Christian’s voice however keeps it anchored firmly in the contemporary here-&-now. A song that’ll be stuck in your head for days and a candidate for alt-summer anthem of the season, ‘You’re Not Alone’ burns up the atmosphere from today.

Allure presents the new single On The Wire on the Magik Muzik imprint. The vocals are done by Christian Burns.

With Tiësto as the man behind Allure, it was no surprise when his latest album Kiss From The Past sky rocketed to the highest regions of the charts right after its release. The highly acclaimed album contains nothing but massive tracks, all ready to appear as a single. On The Wire is one of them, featuring the unmistakable and always strong vocals of Christian Burns. Checking out the original version, you simply can't avoid the rich and liberal use of trademark Tiësto strings and synths, everything larded with sweeping chord changes and of course a tremendous breaks. Many critics applauded the superb low sub bass; all in all a true Allure cut to drag everyone to the dancefloor. DJs used the album mix from day one and currently mix it in their live sets all over the world.

The more than impressive package of remixes is absolutely not to be missed and features a stunning set of brand new versions, here and there completely reworked and with dancefloor aimed additional production and programming. Andy Duguid worked his magic on the original and delivers his spacious, crisp and big sound for the serious live sets. Let's also not forget the stunning W&W remix, full of hammering string chords and frantic sweeps, ready to hit the clubs. Make sure to also check out the remixes by David Amo & Julio Navas, Jonas Stenberg, Matthew Nagle, Chris de Seed & Ivan Dulava and Dennis Sheperd, 'cause whether you play trance, progressive, tech trance or maybe even more techno related material, there's a remix for everyone.

Allure's On The Wire featuring Christian Burns is about to make it big worldwide!

Grammy-Nominated film composer, technologist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and trance music icon BT announces his long-awaited new studio album “The Lost Art Of Longing.” Available on August 14 from Black Hole Recordings, BT’s first dance music-oriented album in seven years is preceded by today’s release of the single ‘No Warning Lights’ with the voice of Emma Hewitt.

    Download on Beatport:

“The Lost Art of Longing” is BT at his finest and finds a spot next to classic material including all-time greats ‘Ima,’ ‘ESCM’, and ‘Movement In Still Life.’ The album features 14 tracks that traverse the world of electronic dance music, from the cinematic ambiance of “Game Theory,” the progressive ‘Wildfire,’ ‘Walk Into The Water,’ ‘1AM in Paris’ and ‘Windows,’ the breakbeat wallop of ‘The Light Is Always On’ and ‘The War,’ the electro/synth inspired ‘Weltanschauung,’ the brooding trance of ‘No Warning Lights’ with Emma Hewitt, to the electronic lullaby “Save Me.’

    Follow BT

“The Lost Art of Longing” is BT’s ode to the things in life that have a deep personal significance and meaning that are becoming archaic, antiquated, even extinct. The handwritten love letter, a rotary telephone, a book, early computers, vintage synthesizers, telephone wires, typewriters… all in sheds or garages, landfills, and other places… slowly decaying and being forgotten. There are love stories in there, stories of war and triumph, and courage and tragedy. People’s stories. Things that should be remembered.

“One of the things nearing extinction; is the art of longing. As in, wanting of something you cannot immediately have. If anything positive is to come from the situation the world collectively finds itself in, it is my great hope - speed, instant gratification, and over-stimulation are swapped out for longing, imagination, and relational connection. For a child or teenager to sit thoughtfully and ponder what is to come, to hope for or envision something amazing, to dream of a place or a future - is becoming obsolete. Longing has been replaced with instant gratification. My hope is that this record reacquaints my audience with the lost art of longing. That they will take pause, get quiet, daydream, and connect to their own place of longing. Because that, I believe, is where the magic is,” BT says.

Earlier this summer BT gave fans an inside look at “The Lost Art Of Longing” with the release of double single ‘1AM in Paris (with Matt Fax)’ / ‘The War (with Iraina Mancini)’ and now he’s peeling back the curtain further with his latest single ‘No Warning Lights’ with Emma Hewitt. The song takes the listener on a voyage, starting from a field recording taken at a train station in Amsterdam and departing through a wall of Emma Hewitt’s rich vocals and BT’s blend of trance 2.0, orchestral writing and heavy sound design. This is the peak of BT’s orchestral writing combined with the best of his dance music writing in a single composition.

  • Christian Burns - Everywhere

    4:42

    Get the album:

“Hope”, says Christian Burns - “if there’s one word that sums this album up, that’d be it”. Now if this sounds unduly upbeat given our times, bear-with - the context will become much clearer. The story of ‘Love Songs From Suburbia’ (for there clearly is one) begins in Los Angeles in April of 2020. Don’t get too comfy there though - in 48hrs, it’s going to be eight timezones away.

This album was spurred by not one, but two sizeable occurrences. One was global (no prizes) and the second, about as personal as they come. For the first time in decades, long-time LA resident Christian suddenly and unexpectedly felt far from home. With a real sense of the way the West Coast winds were blowing, last April he hopped a flight back to the familial north of England. Adding extra impetus to the international situation was the recent demise of his long-term relationship. So leaving behind house, studio, car and everything else non-suitcase-sized, he landed back in his native Greater Manchester.

Writing his second artist album (the long deferred follow up to 2013’s ‘Simple Modern Answers’) couldn’t have been further from the plan, simply as there wasn’t one. Without a permanent base in the county, a returning Christian took refuge under his sister’s roof. Within a matter of days, creatively - and by his own admission unexpectedly - something began to stir. Setting up a makeshift studio in a vacant building in the middle of a field on his sibling’s property he began to write… and out came ‘Love Songs From Suburbia’.

Emotion - it probably goes without saying - is baked into the album. Notable though, only by their complete absence, are tones of gloom, pessimism or reproach. And when you consider the primary drivers behind ‘Love Songs’, that’s quite remarkable. In their place sit vibes of wistfulness and quiet acceptance. Less ‘what’s happened’ and more ‘what’s to come’, all bound up in - that word again - “hope”.

While the temptation might be there, don’t look at ‘Love Song’s track titles (twelve in total) anticipating a chapter-like overview of Christian’s inspirations. Poker-faced, from ‘Tigers’ or ‘Honour’ at the frontend to ‘The Hands That Matter’ or ‘Everywhere’ at the back, there’s not one title that allows conclusions. It’s within the album’s verses and choruses that Christian’s meanings lie, some just below the surface, others core deep. As the mind translates them, a journey takes place and ‘Love Songs’ figurations become clear.

First listens to Christian’s second album will likely leave the impression that it’s musical elements are there solely as a passive bit-part players. The feet move, the ears prick, but your focus rarely traffics from Christian’s absorbing-to-mesmerizing songs, refrains and harmonies. A testament to their stunning tact though, over time those elements begin to pop more to the fore, and with them the realisation of just what kind of extraordinary balancing act ‘Love Songs’ is pulling off.

A wistful, blissful, sun-on-your-face-styled feel - ‘Café del Mar with beats’ perhaps - it carries its tone innately first track through last. It’s an album with nothing to prove other than art-of-lyric, authenticity of voice and depth-of-meaning always wins through.

Christian spoke with Kiwibox Editor Steven about why he decided to retool his collaboration In the Dark with Tiesto for his own project, how he first hooked up with him, when we can expect the official release of The Bleach Works' debut, what sort of sound the album will have, whether or not he ever hesitated to pursue house music after being a straight up pop musician, if he stays in touch with his fellow BBMak (he's actually been working with Mark on a couple of tunes and demos as a producer), what sort of projects are in the pipeline and what else we can expect from him in the near future.

    Listen on Apple Music:

That the eighth album from Markus Schulz is arriving in extraordinary times scarcely needs saying. Some already have - many more will. It’s the direction that artists chose to take with that wealth of additional production time that’s now providing the real insights.

    Download on Beatport:
    Other Services:

By way of example some might’ve imagined that Markus would take our harder times as the artistic cue to re-don his Dakota mask as he last did in the winter of 2017. What’s established inside the first three tracks of ‘Escape’ - his new artist released Sept 25 - however is that he’s headed it in almost entirely the opposite direction. Topping even the headily life-affirming heights of 2018’s ‘We Are The Light’, he’s delivered his most heartening, elevating new music assembly to date.

With ‘up’ its sole goal, Markus has put together a singer/co-writer teamsheet that feels instinctive in choice and proves (by virtue of his accrued studio years) alchemic in outcome. Drawing on talent new & established, it splits its productions between solos, first-time debuts and collaborative reteams, developing in turn an album that tonally reaches all the way from the eclectic to the mainstream.

Naturally it includes Markus’s most recent single dispatches: ‘Indestructible’ & ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ with Adina Butar, April’s ‘Are You With Me’ and ‘Feel Alive’, with London Thor & Valentino Alessandrini. It further features 11 previously unheard Schulz cuts, including numbers with HALIENE & Christina Novelli, as well as first time artistic partnerships with Roxanne Emery and Christian Burns.

Of the album and its release circumstances, at the start of September Markus took to Facebook to share his thoughts. “This year he says has undoubtedly been unprecedented due to the pandemic we are living through, and every day begins with a wish for normality while we battle anxiety and worries. As artists and DJs, we've all had to be creative in order to stay connected with you while the clubbing scene remains closed. And all of these little musical things I hope act as a means of escape from the outside world and daily struggles, even if it’s just for a little while.

It is for that reason that I am proud to announce that my next artist album is indeed titled ‘Escape’, and you're going to hear some of my soundscape visions like you've never heard them before, and indeed, never seen them before. ‘Escape’ arrives on Friday September 25th, and in conjunction with the album, I'm going to be virtually taking you to some of the most breath-taking and stunning scenic locations to perform live.”

And that’s exactly what Markus did, tackling the challenge of the-DJ-debuting-their-album by reimagining the very essence of ‘the tour’. From the deserts of Sedona, Arizona and Utah’s Moab to iconic spots like Colorado’s The Rockies and Route 66, over the last month Schulz literally set the album’s scene. Playing sets framed by some of the most awe-inspiring and emotionally elevating sights the United States has on offer, they provided the perfect backdrop-escape for ‘Escape’. Episode 1 of his mix-tour (Escape To Sedona) launches online October 1, with new episodes dropping weekly throughout the Fall.

Musically, Markus doesn’t even let its overture number pass before pointing the album’s tonal direction North. With ‘Escape’s title track setting the precedent, its quick to press the point with the abundant exuberance of current single ‘Feel Alive’. Recruiting both Ethan Thompson & Soundland to ‘Make It Last Forever’, Schulz unites two ‘Watch The World’ collaborators to one track. Following recent paired outings, ‘Escape’s midpoint meanwhile brings the vocal rush of ‘Tidal Wave’, ‘In Search Of Sunrise’, ‘Not Afraid To Fall’ and ‘Second Day’, signaling swift recalls for the vocal talents of HALIENE, Adina Butar, Christina Novelli and JES.

‘Circles Around Me’, ‘Blue Dream’ and ‘Sunday Chords’ add calmer, but no-less-optimistic notes to the album’s stitch. Its triumphant one-two closeout however is reserved for a dual-collaboration-debut, with Markus working alongside Christian Burns on ‘Wait For You’ and Roxanne Emery on its swansong, ‘Gold Dust’.

    4:49

    Christian Burns Official Site:

    Knife Games Lyrics:

    She was like a movie
    The movie was her name
    This situation
I want it just the same
Cause you get through to me
    Like no one ever could
    Out of this desperate
We need to be high above

    I I I've got to say this
    I am around for you
I can be like your Casanova
You can be like one too
Keeping us on the main line
Tell me you want the same
If we take our time and we learn together
Well know just what to do

    Throwing daggers at my heart
We were dancing in the dark
Hold me close don't let me go
Stay with me until the sun
Cause our lives have just begun
Hold me close don't let me go

    It was in slow motion
    The part I waited for
    Turn round to see you
    I slow a little more
Did I get through to you
    With stories from the heart
    Out of this desperate town
C'mon cos its time to start

    I I I've got to say this
    I am around for you
I can be like your Casanova
You can be like one too
Keeping us on the main line

    OUT 29th SEPTEMBER
    AVAILABLE TO BUY FROM ITUNES,

Data records are proud to bring you this vital DJ weapon for the summer courtesy of Inhaler featuring Christian Burns with Something About You. Originally written by Christian for his band Inhaler, Something About You was an eighties influenced rock melody that has had over 130,000 plays on the bands MySpace player to date!

The remix package is certainly one we can boast about with a nu-breed of producers all getting in on the action to each deliver versions ready to work on various dancefloors respectively. The MDE Remix (aka My Digital Enemy) is a powerful update of the original record that keeps the record true to its existence but ready for the house dancefloors. As well as producing this mix, My Digital Enemy also provide a take for their true sound in delivering a deep progressive remix and dub for the late hours of the night. UK tech house producer, Dave Robertson, retains his signature sound and production for Something About You with an ever building remix that has a drop (at 3.36) that will simply keep your dancefloors night rolling into the early hours of the morning.

  • Ryan Farish & Christian Burns - Safe In This Place

    4:33

    Get it here:

Dream for a dozen years and you couldn’t come up with a career route the likes of which Ryan Farish has taken.

First coming to prominence when his compositions found their way onto the then nascent mp3.co, through it they took on lives of their own. Downloaded upwards of 2 million times, with snowball-like-effect, his first track-drop garnered vast exposure. It’s a career beginning he describes as “almost pure chance”.

As an artist though, it’s a type of ‘overground-underground’ success that’s hidden him somewhat in plain sight. Hugely successful - albeit on an independent platform, ground-up his fanbase has built itself through online word-of-mouth. Despite racking up a run of Billboard top 10s, becoming a co-writer of a GRAMMY Award-Nominated Recording and notching up a cumulative platform stream count of 270 million, to the mainstream he remains something of an indefinite article.

That may however be about change. For the first time in his now 16-album history, the Virginia-born/LA-based producer has placed one of his long-players in the hands of a world-renowned label.

To that, Black Hole Recordings are delighted to put centrestage Ryan Farish’s astonishing ‘Primary Colors’.

If its advance guard singles (‘Stories In Motion’ and ‘Stars Collide’) have reached your ears, well you should at least have some idea of what ‘Primary’s 13 ‘Colors’ entail. Ryan is a man admittedly influenced less by others music and more by their approach. He cites the methodology adopted by artists such as Bonobo, collectives like Tycho and even the grandmaster of liberated electronic music-making Ulrich Schnauss - as his inspiration. Very much the aftereffect of Ryan’s formative years, this album is unfettered by sub-genre confines. When describing its audio, Ryan is loath to stretch any further than simply “electronic music”.

Farish sees the tracks contained on ‘Primary Colors’ as falling into just three broad sectors. “On songs like ‘We Are the Colors’, Time Lapse’, ‘Golden Sky’ and ‘Release” he expands “there's a heavy use of analogue synths”. That gives those tracks a shared tone and feel, which are distinct to ‘Primary Colors’. There are also the collaborations with Christian Burns (‘Safe In This Place’ and ‘Find You’), whose incredible voice and talent really created a new dimension for it. That adds a whole lot of vibe to the album. The last areas ‘Primary Colors’ extends into into are the chilled/breakbeat, tropical house (‘Endless Summer’ a perfect example) and downtempo.”

Shorn of the trappings of brackets and divisions, your most foremost takeaway from this album is that it’s music produced intuitively straight from the soul. Heartfelt, sometimes esoteric, but always valuing the musical path less travelled, it is electronic expressionism in its purest form. Says Ryan: “I worked on this for nearly 2 years, and for me what's most exciting about this release is that I feel it's something that isn't following any trends. Its a body of work focused purely on the music that moves me personally, from a technical, artistic & emotional place”.

What the DJs’ say about Ryan Farish:
    - What an amazing musician! - Fadi Wassef Naguib (Aly & Fila)
    - I’ve been a huge fan of Ryan Farish and his ability to create massive atmospherics in such hauntingly beautiful music. This is music to concentrate to. This is music to have sex to. This is music to listen to. - Sean Tyas

    What the Media say:
    - Packed with emotion and brimming with technical prowess, each one of his tracks flies in the face of critics who dismiss EDM as inconsequential - TheUntz.com
    - A symphony of tranquil piano melodies with invigorating beats titled, (former album) ‘Spectrum’, takes listeners on a soul searching journey from start to finish - Only the Beat
