  • Carlo Grossi - Cantata ebraica in dialogo

    5:56

  • Vaghe Luci by Carlo Grossi

    7:50

    TEXT:

Troppo siete vi mostrate mentre i cori dal sen togliete
    senza muovervi a pietate.

Elusive lights, my treasure, that are so dear to my heart
oh please ever bring some sweet relief to my heart.

So proud you show yourselves while tearing hearts
from the breast without being moved to compassion.

    La Cetra d'Apollo, op. 6
Quando mai sazie sarete - Arietta, 1673

    Barítono: Víctor Cruz
    Clave: Carlos García-Bernalt

Troppo belle e troppo avare, troppo ingrate ogn'hor mi siete.

Trionfate astri rubelli son trofeo mi do per vinto.
Anco in Lete io voglio estinto adorar lumi si belli.

    Traducción:
¿Cuándo quedaréis saciadas de huir de mí, amadas luces?
Tan bellas y tan avaras, tan ingratas me sois.

    there's no mercy for you

    Fucked by hell

    An extreme pain
    will destroy you
bow down on your knees in prey
to stop the crudity of evil
nothing can save you it's your time
accept this brutality as you like

    24:26

    Ernest Bloch (July 24, 1880 – July 15, 1959) was a Swiss-born American composer.

Concerto Grosso No. 1 for string orchestra with piano obbligato (1925 Santa Fe - Cleveland)

    1. Prelude
    2. Dirge
    3. Pastorale and Rustic Dances
    4. Fugue

Irit Rob, piano and the Israel Chamber Orchestra conducted by Yoav Talmi

The work was Bloch's first published concerto grosso of two. According to Alexander J. Morin, the work was created in response to complaints by Bloch's students at the Cleveland Institute of Music about the inadequacies of tonality in shaping the music for the next century.

Music critic Olin Downes wrote, The Bloch concerto was on the whole the best written and the most effective of the new works, even though it lacks some of the power and color of other works.A third concerto grosso evolved into his work Sinfonia Breve.

LIVE recording (non edited) at/by ©Foundation Calouste Gulbenkian in October 2017

This video, despite the lower quality of the video and audio recording, tries to be a brief testimony of Ludovice Ensemble's programme 'Da Nação Portuguesa': o Barroco Sefardita - Música das comunidades judaicas na Europa Barroca ['From the Portuguese Nation': the Sephardic Baroque - music from the Jewish communities in Baroque Europe].

This programme aims to revitalize Portuguese Jewish identity and cultural heritage and to establish new bridges towards mutual and peaceful understanding and respect.

The full programme includes works by Portuguese-Dutch anonymous composers of the Portuguese Synagogue in Amsterdam; works written to this emblematic synagogue by Cristiano Giuseppe Lidarti; works by Portuguese-Jewish composers such as Abraão Cáceres and Leonora Duarte; a wide selection of works by the most eminent Jewish Baroque composer, Salamone Rossi; and other beautiful pieces in Hebrew by Carlo Grossi and Ludovico [Louis] Saladin.

We hope you will enjoy this wonderful music as much as we do!
