    As part of the inaugural Canadian Online Jazz Festival, Calgary’s JazzYYC is merging jazz music with a variety of styles featuring some of Calgary’s best artists across multiple genres. Four Calgary groups have each been paired with a jazz artist to work on new material, compositions, and jazz standards in an effort to create an environment for musicians to collaborate and explore new musical avenues, each with a twist of jazz.


    Performers include Yolanda Sargeant and Evgeniy Bykovets of Sargeant X Comrade with Russian-Canadian Jazz composer/arranger and pianist Egor Ukoloff, country/pop sensation Mariya Stokes with soul singer Kate Melvina, Danny Vacon of The Dudes with jazz arranger, composer, and trumpet player André Wickenheiser, and Indigenous Music and Jazz Undertones featuring a group of singers and drummers known as White Rock joined by jazz musicians Jason Valleau and Steve Fletcher. For this project, JazzYYC  acknowledges the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and Studio Bell: Home of the National Music Centre.
