  • Alexisonfire - Young Cardinals

    4:28

‘Young Cardinals’ from the album Old Crows / Young Cardinals.

    ---

Old Crows / Young Cardinals is the fourth and final studio album form post-hardcore band Alexisonfire, released on June 23, 2009. The album was originally referred to by the shortened titled of Young Cardinals until the name change was announced on April 1, 2009. The album debuted at #81 on the Billboard 200, making this Alexisonfire's highest charting album in the US.

    ---

Hailing from St. Catharines, Alexisonfire rose up out of the Southern Ontario underground in late 2001, to become one of the most successful indie bands in Canada. The band’s success also reached far beyond Canada’s borders. AOF released four hugely successful studio albums, Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009). Crisis debuted at #1 on the Top 200 Soundscan chart (Canada), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals debuted at #2, and charted at #9 on the US Billboard Independent Album chart. Watch Out helped earn the band New Group of the Year at the 2004 JUNO Awards. Their first 3 albums achieved Platinum certification in Canada while Old Crows / Young Cardinals reached Gold certification. The band also topped charts and graced several notable music magazine covers internationally (Kerrang, Blunt, Big Cheese, Canadian Musician, Exclaim! ). AOF’s sold-out 10th Year Anniversary Farewell tour in December 2012 touched down on four continents in 24 days, illustrating how meaningful the band still is to their legion of fans around the world.

  • Slow: Have Not Been the Same

    3:25

High Res version of the Video I made for Slow in 1985.
The seminal pre grunge band Slow set a high bar no one has been able to touch.
Tom, Ziggy, Hamm, Christian, and Terry show everyone how it should be done... and no-one's been able to do it since..... a powerhouse wall a bright angry crisp fast rock.... frantic and frightening stage shows with Tom careening around.. throwing blood, climbing on stacks and curtains.. smashing and throwing things while the band just smoked...... dangerous and unpredictable for the staff promoters and audience.. time for a Slow re-union? Bug them about it.. I'll be there.
UPDATE: SLOW reunion Dec 1st 2017. My campaign worked (or helped) lol!

Recently selected by The Georgia Straight as the best Canadian Music Video of all time.

    Alien Squad history

With 28 years of existence, ALIEN SQUAD is the longest-running original band on the Leiria (Portugal) music scene and one of the oldest in the punk / hardcore / thrash scene. ALIEN SQUAD is a true institution and one of the most influential and respected bands within the medium where they move.

    About Alien Squad infuences
Our main influences then were in fact the same of the present day. The second British punk wave. Bands like: “G.B.H.”, “Discharge”, “The Exploited”, “One Way System”, “Oi Polloi”, “U.K. Subs”, “Conflict”, ”Antisect”, “Crass” (alright, some of these are from the first wave), “The Ruts”, “Chaos U.K.”, and many others (they’re too many to mention all, of course). Not only English bands; one very good example is the German punk outfit “D.B.F.”, an extraordinary musical collective not just for the music but also for their good lyrics. A huge influence, at least for me, and unfortunately known just for a few. And they deserved a lot more… But it doesn’t stop here. The “Crossover” bands like “D.R.I.”, “Agnostic Front”, “Gang Green”, “Adrenalin O.D.”, “Rostok Vampires”, along with the thrashers of the 80’s, such as “Destruction”, “Tankard”, “Slayer”, etc., were deep influences to us. Thrash riffs were always in our sound since the first steps. In fact, my favourite musician is a thrasher (just a curiosity). Jeff Waters, lead guitarist, composer and producer from the Canadian (greatest) band “Annihilator”.

    About Stand Your Ground
Fourteen years passed since the release of “Order Not Government “, our third album. We finally managed to get this Alien sonic fourth incoming out, brewed upon old tracks and more recent songs, covering a timeline from 1988 to... let's say four or five years ago (with the exception of “Whereabouts Unknown”, aged 2).
Three songs on this album were brought to life by the original line-up, in our very first years as a band, during the “Alien Spider Webs “period.

I'm really glad we finally got to record our first original one, the “Raging Boys Transformation” (last track on this round device), something we never done before and never performed on a live act, either.
That said, i personally feel that this Anti Educational System Lullaby should be dedicated to those early members of the collective of alienation “Social Club”: Luis Moura, Paulo Pessanha and Pedro Serra (aka “Cabunje”), with whom i shared the early days of sonic terrorism and the transition from the eighties to the nineties, with shiteloads of stories of madness and booze to tell.
A very special thanx to our dearest friend Cláudio, who spent over 23 years shouting ‘n’ screaming with us (we are still waiting).
Well, 'nuff said for now. Hope you fancy it, play it loud enough to make an empire crumble, and see 'ya all at the gigs!

  • HYPE - Pseudo Punk Canadian Hardcore

    1:39

Check out the Reuben Kincade channel for more HYPE songs and videos or check out HYPE TOHC on Facebook.

From 1983 until 1989 HYPE became the most established hardcore punk band from the Toronto Canada scene and one of Canada's leading hardcore punk acts. HYPE became the first Toronto hardcore band to release a full length LP with Life is hard......then you die! in 1985 and first to tour that same year. In 1987 they released their second LP Burned and completed another tour followed by a third in 1988.

HYPE was also a major force in the Toronto hardcore scene through their not-for-profit concert promotions arm Reuben Kincade Productions which brought in touring bands while ensuring new and less established local bands were given opportunities to play and be paid fairly. HYPE played with many noted groups such as 7 Seconds, MDC, The Freeze, Youth Brigade, S.N.F.U., Adrenalin OD, Rhythm Pigs, Stretch Marks, Unwanted, Asexuals, Death Sentence, Dayglo Abortions, Short Dogs Grow, Target of Demand, 76% Uncertain and False Prophets among many others.

The band's first LP Life Is Hard...Then You Die! was released in 1985 across North America by their own record label Reuben Kincade Productions and across Europe by We Bite Records.

The bands second LP Burned was released in 1987 across North America by Fringe Product and across Europe by We Bite Records.

The 1987 HYPE tour and the 1988 HYPE tours are released on the HYPE LIVE 87-88 Tour album

HYPE Live at Larry’s Hideaway 1985 album was also released

  • The Vandals Nothings Going To Ruin My Holiday Oi the World

    2:24

This album was recorded in August of 1996 very quickly, and very cheaply. Josh Freese was unavailable for some of the sessions so we had a lot of cool guest drummers like Rat Scabies from the Damned, Erik Sandin from NOFX, and Brooks Wackerman. We were very pleased with the results and still think it's about the best thing we've ever done.

The only problem with it was sales. After every Christmas, stores would ship it back because it had the word Christmas in the title. In order to get shelf space all year round, we had Canadian artist Adam Swinbourne create some new art and we disguised it as a regular punk record.

This solved the problem as we haven't received any returns since. Both versions of the artwork are included.
The original pressing was dedicated to the memory of Pat Brown, a true friend.:

  • The Royal Bastards - COVID-19

    1:52

With COVID-19 taking the lives of many, and many more to come, please remember to wash your hands, disinfect surfaces, and wear a mask and gloves when out in public.

This is a pandemic and should be taken with all of the seriousness we can possibly give it.

I wrote this song, while in self-isolation, quarantine, whatever you want to call it to voice my frustrations with the daily happenings and the way the media portrays a society, with Fox News and it's fear-mongering agenda, and of course ignoring refugees that more than likely are displaying symptoms or have already gotten it.

I hope whoever listens to this, realizes the magnitude and weight of what this virus brings, and in hopes of creating this, I hope you realize you could receive it if ignoring what the U.S. Government, Canadian Government, or CDC says to do precaution wise.

    Thank you for listening,

    Keep on punking on,

    God bless,

    Safe and healthy travels,

  • Unruled - S/T 7 EP

    7:31

Unruled was a hardcore punk band formed in Montreal, Canada in the early 1980s. This 3-song EP was their only vinyl release, and yet another record I'm surprised hasn't been uploaded in its entirety anywhere else on YouTube. Known for playing with the likes of GBH and Discharge, to my ears Unruled are one of the first bands to properly incorporate a UK sensibility into Canadian punk. Unruled seemed to be an obscure band until the last few years, but I think this EP is easily on par with the band's contemporaries and a perfect snapshot of a great era in punk.

Another punky reggae classic from Canada's finest punk/hardcore band(one of the best punk/hardcore bands, period). This is from their debut album, Something Better Change, which was released in 1980, although the songs were recorded between 1977 and 1980, depending on the song. Classic D.O.A.!

Alexisonfire performing Rough Hands live at Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on 11 December 2012, recorded exclusively by Moshcam.

Alexisonfire rose up out of the Southern Ontario underground in late 2001 like some monstrous and utterly captivating car-accident-in-progress. Hitting the ground with an immediate full head of steam, Dallas Green, George Pettit, Wade MacNeil, Chris Steele and Jordan Hastings have not only impressed the critics with their sour/sweet approach to performance and writing, but are recognized for their stellar musicianship, and the palpably pent-up tightness of the band live.

In August 2011, George posted a message to fans on the band's official website stating that with the departure of two members, Alexisonfire would issue several special releases and complete a farewell tour before parting ways. In terms of farewells, it was a fittingly fierce one. After ten years together, Canadian post-hardcore kings Alexisonfire called it a day in 2011, but they weren't going out without a helluva party and one last tour. Australia was lucky enough to be one of just four countries they'd visit and Moshcam was lucky enough to capture their searing swansong in Sydney.

    Hello everyone,

I hope you’ve all been well. I won’t be putting many notes in future cover/tutorial video descriptions for the time being and will instead use this space to provide resources for how you can contribute to Black Lives Matter and associated organizations in the midst of the growing (for a long damn time) voice of outcry against police brutality, systemic racial oppression, and the abuse/mistreatment of disenfranchised communities in America. I won’t say too much more because, as a white person, I believe that the voices from people of color should be made a priority above all others when discussing these issues, and even though I have been absent from public social media and will continue to do so, I would like to use the small semblance of a platform that I have in the form of this channel to support those voices in whatever small way I can. In the links below you will find Google docs created by organizers that provide links to donation sites and other resources, as well as a website providing global resources, protest maps, various petitions, and more. Even if you don’t have money to donate there are plenty of things you can do to support the movement, and if you don’t know exactly where to start, I would suggest doing some research to keep yourselves informed.

I firmly believe that what is going on in the realities of people of color needs to be paid attention to, now more than ever, and if, for whatever reason, me using these videos to spread awareness upsets and turns off subscribers, then so be it. I will gladly do whatever I can with no regrets.

To everyone who understands and supports this movement, as well as those who are interested in being educated on it, I hope you enjoy the cover and I wish you all a pleasant and safe rest of your day.

  • The Vandals Oi To The World Oi the World

    2:47

Re: who is Young Guv and why is he ripe for love?

Who's @youngguv? He's still underground, but everyone will know him soon. Right now, he only has 1500 followers, so we need to get this kid a checkmark as soon as possible. Here's the rundown:

He's a white boy in a backwards snapback with fake Emoji neck tattoos. He's ripped bald kid fronting one of the most important and successful hardcore bands in Toronto history. He's a ghostwriter eating pasta as he pens al dente tunes for the likes of Sum 41, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift, a few Canadian Idols, Snow, a slew of hardcore bands, Maroon 5 and one or two OVO affiliates. He's a tortured artist turning down Katy Perry's edits to his tunes because she didn't like his babies as they were. He's a child actor playing Ryan Gosling's sexy little brother. Do I need to go on?

@youngguv is Ben Cook, and he's putting out an album, Ripe 4 Luv, on one of the greatest labels ever, Slumberland Records. Having been around for a minute, Guv has decided to put together a set of pop tunes that shows off his range as a performer, singer, songwriter, style icon and retweet-worthy pop star. I've heard the album, and its ready to head to marketing. We don't need a billboard for this one, all we need to do is release a single and get it trending worldwide. We're going to break Nielsen SoundScan. We're going straight to #1 on iTunes!

Guv got it right the first time with his band No Warning, one of the only Canadian hardcore acts to achieve recognition from major labels in the U.S. He parlayed this experience into a successful career as the creeper peaking through the curtain as better-looking people sing his songs to an appreciative audience. In addition to writing for pop royalty and no-name punk acts, Young Guv has spent the last 7 years playing guitar in fellow Toronto legends Fucked Up, selling 10's of 1000's of singles recorded in various bedrooms, and helping put the East End back on the GTA's music map with his Bad Actors imprint. Guv has been around for a while, and now he's helping new, young talent get around and release classic records. How could you not like this guy? He's got the bone structure to go viral at any moment.

Ripe 4 Luv is a beautiful album for beautiful people. Plus, it really shows off his range. There's only one way to describe this record: Guv sings like Prince into expensive audio-nerd mics over power pop backing tracks that evoke Big Star after they got some nookie but before they became depressed about their failure to appeal to the right audience. If that's not good enough for you, then it sounds like Cheap Trick produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Or how about Drake's producer 40 manning the boards for a Hall & Oates session? Any of those will help sell this record to the blogs, just pick one and run with it.

That's it, that's what you get when you stream Ripe 4 Luv on Spotify. I'm telling you, this album is just perfect for Billboard's Trending 140 chart. We're going to be rich!
