    Ffarwel, ffarwel fy nghariad hoff

    Lyrics / English Translation:

So gentle is the sail of the ship
Yet my heart is heavy, so, so heavy
She sinks slowly beneath the waves
So gentle is the sail of the ship

    Farwell, farewell my fond lover
These tears are so easy and these words so frail
I will always love you, wherever I am
    Farwell, farewell my fond lover

When will you return to me?
    When will your foolish girl
Next hold you in her arms?
When will you return to me?

That small white ship is fading away
    These fears are ever increasing
And the gate of night is starting to shut
And that small white ship is fading away

Three years have gone since seeing his smile
My friends are caring and the boys are kind
    And his name grows old
Three years since seeing his smile

But look a ship, back from the sea
And look there, my lover is
    Dawning warmly over me
But look a ship, back from the sea
But look a ship, back from the sea

1 2 3 mộng tình yêu tan ra
Em ngồi đếm nổi đau bên cạch ly soda
Anh buồn không? Em rất buồn
Nhưng tại sao? Em chẳng thể hiểu

Anh đợi chi, anh đợi anh ? Thế anh
Nhìn xa xăm, bên hiên nhà anh đang vô tư cười với ai ?
Ôii tình yêu đơn phương thật rất mỏi mệt
    Thế nên là ...
Em có nên nói ra những lời ...

    [ĐK:]
Sâu thẳm trong trái tim em
Một tình yêu siêu khủng long
Anh nói anh thích giản đơn
Vậy em cũng sẽ giản đơn

    Miễn là anh yêu em
    Miễn là anh bên em
Đơn giản và rất giản đơn
Tình yêu em như ly trà sữa trân trâu

    Cefndir/Background:
Adrodda'r gan hon hanes dau hen, hen ewythr i Gwyneth Glyn sef Gruffydd ac Owen Griffiths. Roedd y ddau yn bysgotwyr yn Borth y Gest ger Porthmadog ar droad y ganrif ddiwethaf. Un diwrnod fe ddaliasant hwy siarc yn eu rhwydi penwaig a'i arddangos wedyn ym Mhorthmadog er mwyn cael pres cwrw!

This song tells the tale of two of Gwyneth Glyn's great, great uncles -- Gruffydd and Owen Griffiths. Both were fishermen in 'Porth y Gest' near Porthmadog at the beginning of the last century. One day they caught a shark in their herring nets and then showcased it in Porthmadog to make money to buy beer!

    Geiriau:
Dau forwr dewr, dau frawd direidus
oedd yr Hen King ac Owen Griffiths,
yn caru'r cwrw yn fwy na'r cefnfor,
    yn gweld angylion ymhob angor.

    Un pnawn o ha' a'r rhwydi'n drymion,
    a'r ddalfa'n goeth o benwaig gwynion,
    mi welsant 'sgodyn tra gwahanol
yn gawr o gryndod yn eu canol.

Be ddiawl 'nawn ni a'r cradur yma?
Rown ni o'n ol yng nghol y tonna?
    Mi awn ag o i dre Porthmadog;
ma hwn werth mwy na phum can pennog!

A dyma'i godi ar eu sgwydda,
a chodi paball o hen hwylia,
a bod mor hy' a chodi ceiniog
am gip go sydyn o'r 'sgodyn enwog.

A dyna hwyl, a dyna sbort,
o weld y siarc yn y parc yn Port!
A phawb yn heidio o bob lle
i gael eu dychryn yn y dre

    Wel dyma'r ddalfa ffeindia 'sdalwm!
    Awn am y Fleece i wario'n ffortsiwn!
Mi yfwn gwrw am y gora,
a mi nawn ni fwy o bres yn bora!

    Ar doriad gwawr daeth bloedd y Plismon;
Claddwch y cena ar 'ych union!
    Erioed ni brofais y ffasiwn ddrewdod;
ma Port i gyd yn drewi o bysgod!

A'u penna'n drwm 'rol noson hegar,
mi gladdon y siarc yn ddyfn yn y ddaear.
    A darfu'r hwyl a darfu'r arian;
parhau wna'r hanas rhwng muria'r dafarn.
parhau wna'r hanas rhwng muria'r dafarn.

    English Translation Lyrics:
Two brave seamen, two mischievous brothers
were the Old King and Owen Griffiths,
who cherished ale more than the high sea,
and saw angels in each anchor.

One summer's afternoon and the netting heavy,
and the catch plentiful in white herrings,
they saw a fish like no other,
like a giant quivering amidst them.

What on earth will we do with this creature?
Will we throw him back to the waves?
    We'll take him to Porthmadog town;
he's worth more than five-hundred herrings!

And so they lifted him on their shoulders,
and raised a tent out of old sails,
and were as bold as to charge a penny
for a quick glance at the infamous fish.

And oh what fun, and oh what sport
of seeing the shark in a park in Port!
And everyone flocked from all around
to be terrified in the town.

Well this is a catch found in the days of old!
We'll go to the Fleece to spend our fortune!
We'll drink some ale for the better,
and we'll make some more money in the morning!

    On the break of dawn came a cry from the Policeman;
    Bury the scoundrel this instant!
    I never came across such a stench;
the whole of Port stinks of fish!

And with their heads heavy after a rough night,
they buried the shark deep in the earth.
    So ceased the fun and ceased the wealth;
but continue did the tale 'tween the walls of the tavern,
continue did the tale 'tween the walls of the tavern.

Dwy law yn erfyn a mi ges fy hun ar lannau'r afon Nil,
paid edrych lan a phaid edrych i lawr,
    o'n i ar goll ac o'n i braidd ar ddi-hun.

Galwodd rhywun am ambiwlans, clywes i'r rhybydd yn uchel a'n glir,
a phlymiais i mewn i'r dwr yn ddwfn ac anelu am y ffin.

Dyw e ddim mor anodd i arnofio gyda'r llif
pan wyt ti ynghanol breuddwydion hâf neu canol dydd.

Mae angen llong ar Gapten er mewn morio drwy dywydd gwael,
mae angen awel ar longwr er mwyn hwylio o lan i lan.
    Mae blodau'r Delta'n tyfi'n hadau mae'r gwair yn tyfu'n wyllt
ond ei di fyth i'r nefoedd os arhosi d'in rhy hir os mynni di fyw am byth.

Mae angen rhoi'r ffidil yn y to, gwnest dy wely, meddai'r Capten.
Ond allai ddim gwneud hyn a ni alla'i wneud y llall os dwi yn gaeth yn Argae Aswann.

Paid edrych lan a phaid edrych i lawr, paid gwneud hwna a phaid gwneud y llall.

    ENGLISH TRANSLATION/VERSION:
A leap of faith and I find myself on the banks of the river Nile,
don't look up and don't look down,
I was lost and I was hardly awake.

Someone called an ambulance; I heard the siren loud and clear
so I dived into the water deep and I aim for the frontier.

It's not so hard to float down the stream
when you're stuck in the middle of a summer dream.

A Captain needs a ship if he's gonna navigate the storm,
a boatman needs a wind if he's gonna sail from shore to shore.
The Delta flowers grow to seed and the grass gets overgrown,
I wanna live forever but you'll never get to heaven if you live too long.

The Captain said, now you've made your bed now it's time to settle down.
But you can't do this and you can't do that if you're stuck in the Aswan dam.

Don't look up and don't look down, don't do this and don't do that.

  • Y Galwd : Welsh Song by Ceredwen

    6:54

Welsh music from Ceredwen, about a druid prince who hears sounds calling him from Britain, which is being ravaged by Roman army. He sets out on the long journey, to sacrifices himself on the Black Lake (Y Llyn Du) as a messenger for gods.

    Lyrics :

    Y wawr yn torri
    Mae'r tyndra yn esgyn
    Fy nghyned yn aros
    Rwy'n barod i'r siwrne

    Henuriaid yn galw
    O fore tan nos
Maen't yn aros am yr aberth
    A fydd i'w rhoi rhyddhad

    Yn gynnar yn y bore
    Lleisiau yn fy ngalw
    Yr amser wedi cyrraedd
    Ac mae'n rhaid i'm fynd

    Wedi treilio amryw flwyddyn
    Paratoi am yr eiliad hon
Er mwyn rhoi fy nghorff mewn offrwm
    I'r Derwyddon

    Trans :

    The dawn is breaking
    The tension mounting
    My fate is waiting
    I'm ready for the journey

    The elders are calling
    From morning till night
    Awaiting the sacrifice
    To give them freedom

    Early in the morning
    Voices are calling
    The time has come
    And I must go

    Many year have I spent
    Preparing for this moment
    I offer my body
    For the Druids

*Ar Ddim literally translates as On Nothing but given the way 'Ar Ddim' is used within the context of the song I felt 'So Easily' would be a more suitable translation for non-Welsh speakers to understand :)

Ti fel hen ddant y gitar newydd sbon,

    Dalishi'n ddrud,

    mae nhw'n torri ar ddim,
    ar ddim.

Ti fel tawelwch rhwng y nodau man,
    fel twyllwch rhwng fflamau'r tan.
    Dalishi'n ddrud

    English Translation Lyrics:
You're like an old string for a brand new guitar,
I know the old ones better than this one.
    I paid dearly,
    I'll pull you tightly.
    You're not like the others,
    They break on nothing,
    on nothing.

You're like the silence between the notes,
like the darkness between the fire's flames.
    I paid dearly
    to sing your praise.
    You're not like the others,
    the others don't exist,
    don't exist.

    ENGLISH TRANSLATION LYRICS:
Walking strange streets, at one o'clock in the morning
The only place that's open is Sanjay's Cafe bar
My head is spinning and I stagger towards the bar
Love I have a screw missing, have you got a spare?
The city beats me cold, I've never been so exiled
Me neither he says quite shy but listen closley, try your best
To be kind every morning and you'll see soon enough that things will get better
And by lighting his cigarette and rubbing his red eyes
Brushing his hand through his long brown hair and showing his dirty teeth
He says if you live in the city too long, you'll start hearing voices
And on my word. Double gin and tonic, chatting with a schizophrenic
Only him and me in the bar, laughing at the guy with the guitar.

    Lyrics / English Translation:
Do you remember seeing the stars in the heavens and the first sunset?
Remember you saying you had a headache, well, only lies.
Do you remember saying that you had a longing...Do you remember...

    CHORUS
    Your words that night?
And the fire of our love aflame?
    And you couldn't stop crying?
    And the moon enamouring?

Do you remember us dancing in the darkness and the sun rising?
Do you remember hearing the gunshot, and you falling?
Do you remember waking from your deep sleep? Do you remember...

    CHORUS
    Your words that night?
And the fire of our love aflame?
    And you couldn't stop crying?
    And the moon enamouring?

Do you remember seeing your image in me and the blood of tears?
Do you think that there's a tomorrow for us or are these just empty steps?
Do you remember fleeing from your longing? Do you remember....

    CHORUS
    Your words that night?
And the fire of our love aflame?
    And you couldn't stop crying?
    And the moon enamouring?

Forget about me. Forget about me.
I must leave before dawn and I can't say goodbye.
    Forget about me.

I must run to find a song and a sorrow, an enemy and a friend -- the remains of an age on the sands of the world.

And I have no untarnished heart.
    I have no untarnished heart.
Only a stone that swings, and that's how I like it.

I must run to find a song and a sorrow, an enemy and a friend -- the remains of an age on the sands of the world.

When I was seven, I knew everything and saw nothing wrong
But by now I know nothing -- only that my head is a hell of a place.

And I have no untarnished heart, no I have no untarnished heart.

    Look you, look you,

oh if only I could go there.

    Have you ever felt sand

and the vast tide close by?

    Arise from your bed,

  • The oldest Welsh Lullaby: Dinogads Smock

    4:35

    Performed by: Ffynnon, Lynne Denman

    History:

Amongst the oldest surviving Welsh poetry is an account of battles in the Old North, a text known after the protagonists as Y Gododdin. In the same manuscripts are a couple of odd bits of verse which clearly do not belong, and one of these is a nursery rhyme in which a mother tells her son - the Dinogad of the title - about his father's hunting prowess.

The seventh century text, with a bit of orthographic licence, is something like:

    Peis dinogat e vreith vreith.
    o grwyn balaot ban wreith.
    chwit chwit chwidogeith.
    gochanwn gochenyn wythgeith.
    pan elei dy dat ty e helya;
llath ar y ysgwyd llory eny law.
    ef gelwi gwn gogyhwc.
giff gaff. dhaly dhaly dhwg dhwg.
    ef lledi bysc yng corwc.
    mal ban llad. llew llywywg.
pan elei dy dat ty e vynyd.
dydygai ef penn ywrch penn gwythwch pen hyd.
    penn grugyar vreith o venyd.
    penn pysc o rayadyr derwennyd.
or sawl yt gyrhaedei dy dat ty ae gicwein
    o wythwch a llewyn a llwyuein.
nyt anghei oll ny uei oradein.

It can be seen how similar the language is to Modern Welsh in which it might be loosely rendered:

    Pais Dinogad sydd fraith, fraith,
    O groen y bela y mae'i waith.
    `Chwí! Chwí!' Chwibanwaith.
Gwaeddwn ni, gwaeddant hwy - yr wyth gaeth.
Pan elai dy dad di i hela -
Gwaywffon ar ei ysgwydd, pastwn yn ei law -
    Galwai ar gw+n tra chyflym,
`Giff! Gaff! Dal, dal! Dwg, dwg!'
    Fe laddai bysgod o'i gwrwgl
    Fel y llada llew fân-filod!
Pan elai dy dad di i'r mynydd
Deuai ef ag un iwrch, un twrch coed, un hydd,
    Un rugiar fraith o fynydd,
    A physgodyn o readr Derwennydd.
Beth bynnag a gyrhaeddai dy dad â'i bicell -
Boed yn dwrch, yn gath goed, yn lwynog -
Ni ddihangai'r un oni bai'n nerthol ei adenydd.

If you do not yet read Welsh, you might prefer the following loose translation:

    Dinogad's shift is speckled, speckled,
It was made from the pelts of martens.
    `Wee! Wee!' Whistling.
We call, they call, the eight in chains.
When your father went out to hunt -
A spear on his shoulder, a club in his hand -
He called on his lively dogs,
`Giff! Gaff! Take, take! Fetch, fetch!'
He killed fish from his coracle
Like the lion killing small animals.
When your father went to the mountains
He would bring back a roebuck, a boar, a stag,
A speckled grouse from the mountain,
And a fish from the Derwennydd falls.
At whatever your father aimed his spear -
Be it a boar, a wild cat, or a fox -
None would escape but that had strong wings.

  • Beltaine: Welsh Song by Ceredwen

    6:18

Song of Ceredwen, tells about the celebration of summer festival, Beltaine (The Fire of Bel)

    Lyrics :

Llywthau yn tynnu am yr ywl
Yn barod i daweli ei Arglwydd Dduw
Aroglau yn casglu yn yr awyr
    Wrth gynnau coelcerthi Beltain

Dawnsio a siantio rownd y tan
    Canu, addoli ei Duw
    Er mwyn i'w ddyhuddo

Pwy a fydd yr un, rhaid cael dewis un
    Y person cysegredig

Y dorth yn mynd o law i law
Er mwyn cael dewis y person iawn
    Gwynebau yn dangos y straen
    Yn y wledd Beltain

    Translations :

the tribes gather for the festival
    Ready to appease their God
The air is full of aromas
Of the lightning of the Beltaine fires

Dancing and chanting round the fire
    Singing and worshipping their God
    So as to please him

    Who will be the one
    Someone must be chosen
    To be the sacred person

The bannock passed from hand to hand
    To find the chosen one
    Faces full of concern
    In the feast of Beltaine

    i Birkinhead, Bordo a Wiclo.

Toc daw'r stemar bach i'w towio,
golau coch ar waliau wrth fynd heibio.

    Llongau'n mynd a dod a llongau'n canlyn;
    heddiw, fory ac yfory wedyn.
Mynd a'u llwyth o lechi gleision
    dan eu hwyliau gwynion,

Toc daw'r stemar bach i'w towio,

Pam na chaf i fynd yn llongwr
ar holl longau yn llwytho yn yr harbwr?

Holaf ym mhob llong ar hyd yr harbwr,
'Oes 'na le i hogyn fynd yn llongwr?

O pam na chaf i fynd yn llongwr

Ie pam na chaf i fynd ar f'union,

    English Translation:
All the ships are loading at the harbour,
why can't I go sailing like the others?
    There are three-ships raising anchor
    and will sail tonight
    to Birkinhead, Bordeaux and Wicklow.

Soon comes the tug boat to tow them,
red lights on the walls as they pass by.

    Ships come and go and ships sailing out;
now, tomorrow and the days thereafter.
Taking loads of the blue slate
    under their white sails,
some to France and some to Ireland.

Soon comes the tug boat to tow them,
green lights on the walls as they pass by.

    Why can't I be a sailor
on the ships that load up in the harbour?

I ask at every ship down in the harbour
'Can they take a boy to be a sailor?
And to tie the ropes and knot them?
    And stand at the helm?
And to go out on a ship to scoon?'

    Oh why can't I be a sailor
on the ships that load up in the harbour?

Yeah why can't I go with the others,
sailing over seas, and back to C'narfon,
back to C'narfon, back to C'narfon,
    back to C'narfon...

    Galwad ddaeth i'm gwely clyd
a'r nos yn wlyb ac oer.
Gwelais hi yn dawnsio'n ffri ar belydrau'r lloer gan ddweud...

Tyrd ble mae'r awyr yn burach,

Yno mae heddwch, a hudol brydferthwch,
a chysur clyd i'r corff cyn mynd i'r llwch.

Cwmwl ddaeth yn llennu'r lloer a'i belydrau aur.
Ni welswn mwy y feunwen deg, na sibrwd mwyn ei gair.
Troes yn ol i drwmgwsg hir i wlad y tylwyth teg,

    English Translation Lyrics:
She came to me in a dream,
    did the pure angel.
She broke down the blissful doors of sleep
and recited to me her song.
A calling came to my cosy bed
and the night so dank and cold.
I saw her dancing freely on the moon beams whilst saying...

Come where the sky is purer,
    the land greener,
where the birds all sing in harmony.
There, there is peace and enchanting beauty,
and a comforting comfort to the body before going to the dust.

A cloud came and veiled the moon and it's golden rays.
I saw no more the fair angel, nor the gentle whipser of her words.
I turned back into a heavy slumber to the land of the fairies,
and forgot the sound of the song, and the sound was so melodious.

I forgot where the sky was purer,
    the land greener,
where the birds all sing in harmony.
There, there is peace and enchanting beauty,
and a comforting comfort to the body before going to the dust.

When a new dawn broke over land and the night withdrew away,
and I greeted the day's sun whilst the dark shadow recoiled,
I saw on the distant horizon the girl of my dreams so free.
She was Wales' new Angel come to claim the day, and on that day...

    The sky was purer,
    the land greener,
and the birds all sung in harmony.
There, there was peace, and enchanting beauty,
and a comforting comfort to the body before going to the dust,
and a comforting comfort to the body before going to the dust.

  • Morwyn y Blodau : Welsh Song by Ceredwen

    5:58

Beautiful song from Ceredwen's first album, O'r Mabinogi. It tells about a man named Lleu who was cursed by his mother, Arianrhod, so that he would never get a wife from human race. His uncle, Gwydion, fashioned a beautiful woman from wild flowers, together with Math the Magician, to become Lleu's wife, and called her Blodeuedd.

    Lyrics:
Hwythau a ddaethant at ei gilydd
Efo hud a lledrith i rhithio gwraig i Llew
Y blodau fe gasglwyd yn ei llwythi
    Blodau deri, banadl ac erwain

Ffurfiwyd drwy swyn forwyn deg a thlws
    Bedyddiwyd yn enw Blodeuwedd
Ei phrydferthwch yn cuddio 'i wir chymeriad
I'w achosi i fradyrchu ei gwr

    Chorus:
    Llew, paid bod yn ffôl
    I ymddiried yn dy wraig
    Cadw'r gyfrinach i dy hun
    Os wyt fyw yn llawn
    Llew, paid bod yn ffôl
    I ymddiried yn dy wraig
    Cadw'r gyfrinach i dy hun
    Os wyt fyw yn llawn

    Cynllunio a wnaeth Blodeuwedd
Am y ffordd a fi cael gwared a Llew
Ac hithau am fod mor dwyllodrus
Gan honni ei chariad yn gru

Blwddyn a fi heb ddim sôn am ei charwr
Yr amser yn awr yn iawn
Wedi aros yn hir am yr eiliad pwysig
Yr ergid a fydd i'w rhyddhau

    Translations:
    They came together with magic
And enchantment, to make a wife for Llew
    They collected handfuls of flowers
The flowers of meadowsweet, oak and broom

They created through magic the most beautiful maiden
    And baptized her Blodeuwedd
Her beauty hid her true character
For she was to betray her husband

    Chorus:
    Llew, don't be a fool
To put your trust in your wife
    Keep the secret to yourself
If you wish a long life
    Llew, don't be a fool
To put your trust in your wife
    Keep the secret to yourself
If you wish a long life

    Blodeuwedd plotted
For a way to be rid of Llew
    She was so deceitful
Pretending to love Llew so dear

A year went by without seeing her lover
The time at last was right
After waiting so long for this precious moment
For the blow that was to set her free

From the sixties came the cry to shake our little country.
Singing protest became the trend, a record of your anger.
But the object didn't understand any word of the song.

Oh why! Why do I insist on sharpening the dragon's talons?
Oh why! Why bother singing the Welsh song?
    In Welsh, yeah, Welsh...

Having destroyed loads of signs, Cymdeithas yr Iaith concert,
silly hairs and guitars, singing about vineyards and scars.
But what was the point in preaching to those who understand?

Oh why! Why do I insist on sharpening the dragon's talons?
Oh why! Why bother singing the Welsh song?
    In Welsh, yeah, Welsh...

But how do you convey the discontent of a nation?
How can you say your say when nobody understands?

  • Fernhill -- Helar Dryw

    4:51

A haunting rendition of the Welsh folk song Hela'r Dryw (Hunting the Wren), which is based on a tradition found throughout the British Isles. The band is Welsh folk band Fernhill, though the track does not feature on any of the band's albums; instead it was only released on a couple of compilations, and was credited to the individual performers rather than the band (Julie Murphy, Andy Cutting, Ceri Rhys Matthews and Jonathan Shorland). The compilation I found it on was The Fairy Dance: Myth and Magic in Celtic Songs and Tunes on Beautiful Jo Records.

Below are the lyrics and English translation. Each verse follows the same pattern, so only the 1st verse is written out in full.

I am intrigued by the term the Never Beyond, which I assume is an obscure reference to God? Some versions replace this with the slightly more mundane everyone.

    Welsh:
    1.
Ble rwyt ti'n mynd? meddai Rhisiart wrth Robin,
Ble rwyt ti'n mynd? meddai Dibyn wrth Dobyn,
Ble rwyt ti'n mynd? meddai John,
Ble rwyt ti'n mynd? meddai'r Nefar Biond

    2.
    Mynd tua'r coed, meddai ...

    3.
Be wnei di yno? meddai ...

    4.
    Hela'r dryw bach, meddai ...

    5. (repeat of 3)
Be wnei di yno? meddai ...

    6.
Lladd y dryw bach, meddai ...

    7.
    A'i hebrwng e gartref, meddai....

    8.
    Ceffyl a chert, meddai...

    9.
    Beth am ei fwyta? meddai....

    10.
    Cyllell a fforc, meddai...

    English translation:
    1.
Where are you going? said Richard to Robin
Where are you going? said Dibyn to Dobyn
Where are you going? said John
Where are you going? said the Never Beyond

    2.
Going to the woods, said ...

    3.
What will you do there? said ...

    4.
    Hunt the wren, said ...

    5. (repeat of 3)
What will you do there? said ...

    6.

    7.
    And carry him home, said...

    8.
    A horse and cart, said...

    9.
How shall we eat him? said ...

    10.
A knife and fork, said ...

    English Translation Lyrics:
So fine, so fine is this afternoon
An Indian summer afternoon, with no worries.
You're the one who makes the birds sing
I try to capture your magic in this song
With a piano and two guitars
    Drums and saxophones
But I've heard that the real soul of music
Is in the spaces between the notes
    And that all the feeling
Is in the silence between the sounds
So my love -- silence is the way.

The river laughs as it flows by,
Under the old stone bridge the moss glistens.
Do you hear the universe sighing?
There's no need to speak, no need to say anything.
    I've heard that real communication
Is in the pauses between lines
And that souls speak to each other
    In the spaces between words
    So therefore my love
    Silence is the way
And remember too -- the Tao is the way

So beautiful, so beautiful is the golden light
At the day's end, the colours of the soul
It's day's end and the moon is rising
And that's the end of another love song.
    It's OK, but nothing special
    So silence is the way,
    The Tao is the way.

There are things in this world that are sure to bring you down
But learning how to get up again is a part of your fate
And there are people in this world that are sure to make you feel small
    But don't worry too much

    Don't doubt

    To live for this moment

    And you feel cold
The voices in your mind start to make you feel your age

Instead of taking a step back
    Take a step forward
And don't bury your head in things that were before

    The hours are decreasing
    Give your best

    Beth sydd ein disgwyl?
    Dim ond nhw syn gwyboid
    Be wyddwn n?

    Yn ymlwybro dros ein byd
    Am byth bythoedd

    O, Gwylio Ser Y Nos
    Gwylio Ser Y Nos

    Gwylio Ser Y Nos
    Gwylio Ser Y Nos

    Gwylio ser y nos,
    gwrando ar ei sibrwd
    Sibrwd ymysg ei gilydd,
    Dirgelion y bywyd hwn...

    ENGLISH TRANSLATION LYRICS:
    Watching the stars of night,
    Listening to their whispers
    Whispers amongst each other
    The mysteries of this life

    Watching the stars of night,
Feeling the force of their distance
    Wandering through the cosmos
    Mysterious secrets in the sky

    Travelling over our world
    For eternity

    Legends through the heavens
    Silver signs of fate
    The fate of every entity
    That walked upon this Earth

    Pearls in the night
    Shining in the darkness
    There quietly watching
    Our feeble hopes

    Travelling through our world
    For eternity

Oh, watching the Stars of Night,
    Watching the Stars of Night,

    Watching the Stars of Night,
    Staring at the stillness
    Feeling their tenderness
    Across this creation

    Watching the Stars of Night
What is it that awaits us?
    Only they know.
    What do we know?

    Travelling through our world
    For eternity

Oh, watching the Stars of Night,
    Watching the Stars of Night,

    Watching the Stars of Night,
    Watching the Stars of Night

    Watching the stars of night,
    Listening to their whispers
    Whispers amongst each other
    The mysteries of this life

  • Ar Y Gweill: Fflat Huw Puw

    2:30

    Mae sŵn yn Mhortinllaen,
    swn hwylie'n codi:
    Blocie i gyd yn gwichian,
    Dafydd Jones yn gweiddi:
    Ni fedra'i aros gartre
    yn fy myw;
Rhaid i mi fynd yn llongwr iawn
    ar Fflat Huw Puw.
    Fflat Huw Puw
    yn hwylio heno,
    Swn codi angor;
    mi fyna'i fynd i forio:
    Mi wisga'i gap pig gloew
    tra bydda'i byw,
Os cai fynd yn llongwr iawn
    ar Fflat Huw Puw.

    Mi bryna'i yn y Werddon
    sane sidan,
    Sgidie bach i ddawnsio,
    a rheiny a bycle arian;
    Mi fyddai'n ŵr bonheddig
    tra bydda'i byw,
Os ca i fynd yn Gapten llong
    ar Fflat Huw Puw.
    Mi gadwai'r Fflat
    fel parlwr gore,
    Bydd sgwrio mawr a chrafu
    bob ben bore;
Mi fydd y pres yn sgleinio
    ar y llyw,
Pan fydda i yn Gapten llong
    ar Fflat Huw Puw.

There's a sound in Port Dinorwig,
the sound of sails being raised:
    All the blocks screeching,
    Dafydd Jones shouting:
    I cannot stay at home
    for the life of me;
I must go to be a sailor true
    on Huw Puw's Flat.
    Huw Puw's Flat
    is sailing tonight,
    The sound of the anchor being raised;
    I will go to sea!
I will wear a cap with a shiny peak
    as long as I live,
If I can go to be a sailor true
    on Huw Puw's Flat.

    In Ireland I will buy
    silk stockings,
    Little dancing shoes,
    and those with silver buckles;
    I would be a gentleman
    as long as I live
If I can go to be a ship's Captain
    on Huw Puw's Flat.
    I would keep the Flat
    like the best parlour,
There will be much scrubbing and scraping
    at the start of every morning;
    The brass will shine
    on the steering wheel
    When I become ship's Captain
    on Huw Puw's Flat.

  • Ar Log: Y Deryn Pur - The Gentle Dove

    4:25

This traditional Welsh tune is usually translated as “O Gentle Dove”, even if a more literal translation would probably be “The Pure Bird”.
Ar Log, one of the best Welsh Folk Groups recorded this very beautiful lovesong.
    Y Deryn Pur
    (The Gentle Dove)

Y deryn pur â'r adain las
    Bydd i mi'n was dibrydar
O! brysur brysia at y ferch
Lle rhois i'm serch yn gynnar
    Dos di ati, dywed wrthi
Mod i'n wylo'r dwr yn heli
Mod i'n irad am ei gwelad
Ac o'i chariad yn ffaelu â cherddad, O!
    Duw faddeuo'r hardd ei llun
    Am boeni dyn mor galad!

Pan o'wn yn hoenus iawn fy hwyl
    Ddiwrnod gwyl yn gwylio
    Canfyddwn fenyw lana' rioed
    Ar ysgafn droed yn rhodio.
Pan y'i gwelais syth mi sefais
    Yn fy nghalon mi feddyliais
    Wele ddynes lana'r deyrnas
    A'i gwên yn harddu'r oll o'i chwmpas
Ni fynnwn gredu un dyn byw
    Nad oedd hi ryw angyles!

    English

O gentle dove with wings so blue
    Fly quickly to my lady
And take to her a message true
    While in her garden shady
Go to her and say I love her
    And am trying to discover
How to meet her, fondly greet her
But if my love should fail to please her
May God forgive her beautiful face
I know that I must leave her.

With heart so gay one happy day
I walked with step so sprightly
The loveliest girl I'd ever seen
    Came tripping there so lightly
    On her beauty so amazing
I could only stand there gazing
Of the fairest, she the rarest
Her smile make all around her shining
She was an angel to my eyes
And for her love I'm pining.

Nawr ti'n dweud bo ti'n gadael
    i weld y byd, a gweld y cefnfor maith.
Wnai ddim crio na na, na byth difaru,
dim gofyn lle wyt ti chwaith.

Mae llygad yr haul ar Carolina,
mae'n disgleirio i lawr ar Tupelo.
    Na'i ofalu am y deryn a'r gwenyn i gyd
a wnaiff fy meddwl ddim crwydro nôl,
ddim crwydro yn ôl atat ti.

Ac os ddoi o hyd i ti ar ddiwrnod da,
yr awyr yn las, heb neb i gwyno'n gas
yn gadarn a chywir ar ochr y bryn
gydag afon yn ei lli a Luciano y ci.

Os dyna ti moy'n, pacia dy fag,
s'dim angen nodyn, cer at y drws,
'drycha' nôl am un tro arall, tro'r golau mas,
cym' un cam at y chwith ac un arall at y dde
    a cherdda i ffwrdd.

    ENGLISH TRANSLATION/VERSION:
Now you say that you're leaving
to see the world and swim the seven seas.
I won't cry, no, no, nor shed a tear,
    nor wish you were here.

The sun always shines on Carolina,
the sun always shines down on Tupelo.
I keep my eyes on the bird and the honey bee
and my mind won't go running back,
won't go running back to you.

And if I find you on a good day,
skies are blue, no-one to bother you,
steadfast and stern on the mountain side
with a river to run and a dog named Luciano.

And if that's what you want, pack up your bags,
don't write a note, walk to the door,
turn 'round one last time, turn off the lights,
take one step to left and another to the right
    and walk away.
