Boise Blues Society (BBS) is a non-profit organization with a mission of promoting blues music through a wonderful program called Blues In the Schools (BITS).
Its part of a nationwide program involving dozens of blues societies and is especially important now because funding for music programs in public schools seem to be a priority target for budget cuts.
We’ve also presented BBS Student Scholarships to several outstanding young musicians in the Treasure Valley.
If you’re a member of BBS, thank you. If you’re not, please join us and help support our cause. . Contact BBS President Ken Harris at or 208-440-4590.

  • Joe Bonamassa - Supporting Music In Schools

-- Donate today to enter the Keeping The Blues Alive Sweepstakes for a chance to win a cruise and hang with Joe!

Joe Bonamassa comes to you live from Nerdville, Joe’s house in slightly overcast California, to speak to you about an important event. Joe has created a sweepstakes in which all the money raised – every single penny – will go to charity in support of music education.

Joe’s foundation, Keeping the Blues Alive, funds programs and scholarships for students and teachers who greatly need the resources to help them thrive as learners and educators. Without the donations from generous music lovers like you, the students that are reached by Keeping the Blues Alive would not have the classroom resources, including functional instruments, to enable them to flourish and achieve their amazing potential.
Prizes for the winner of the sweepstakes include a cabin aboard Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea III, a floating music festival sailing from Tampa, Florida to Costa Maya Mexico that will contain performances from Joe, Gregg Allman, Beth Hart and many artists on the forefront of today’s blues and roots music scene.

The goal of the sweepstakes is to raise $500,000 for music education – a lofty goal, but we think we can do it!
So many students love music but it’s your generous contributions that help them tap into their talents and realize their potential as music students and eventually as musicians. Thank you so much for your interest in Keeping the Blues Alive and in the future of music education and American music students.

NO DONATION OR PURCHASE NECESSARY. Legal residents of the 50 United States (D.C.) 18 years or older. Ends 12/15/16. To enter and for Official Rules, including odds, how to enter without making a donation, and prize descriptions, visit Void where prohibited.

Featuring: Paul Gilbert (Rock Guitar), Jason Vieaux (Classical Guitar), Martin Taylor (Fingerstyle Guitar), Andreas Oberg (Jazz & More Guitar), Bryan Sutton (Acoustic Guitar), Andy Hall (Dobro). Click on the link to find out more about the individual instructors.

ArtistWorks Guitar Campus with all these renowned musicians as well as teachers provide a comprehensive curriculum and resources that cover every aspect of music learning. First is the instruction. For the guitar schools with all of our six teachers, you will get access to hundreds of pre-recorded HD video lessons. These video lessons cover lessons from beginner, intermediate, to conservatory level playing. So, these topics will take you from learning how to hold your guitar to jamming out with the master musicians themselves.

Sounds awesome, right? It doesn't end there! You can learn all the essential lessons through the videos, then if you have any questions or if you want advice from the teachers, simply record a video of yourself playing and submit it through the school Video Exchange. Your teacher, the masters themselves, will receive it and get back to you with another video.

These video exchanges by other students in the school, like the ones you might submit to your teacher and their respond to it, will be posted. That way, you can learn from each other. It creates a guitar learning community - a global community!
