Alan Jackson’s Label Didnt Want You to Hear This Hit Song

    1:35

A #documentary spotlighting #AlanJackson career highlights includes interviews with the singer's sisters, and they've got stories to tell. Read more secrets revealed in the documentary here:

Jackson was a bonafide hitmaker by 1993, but #Chattahoochee was a dramatic pivot as far as his record label and management team were concerned. Think about it: how do you think a bunch of suits responded when their star artists suggests a music video where he waterskis in cowboy boots? “Nobody wanted to put that out but Alan, executive Gary Overton flatly states in the documentary. Of course they were all wrong and the song became one that defines his career, and arguably, the '90s. It also shows the attention to detail this singer paid to his music videos, an area where he was a pioneer.

Of course, true Alan Jackson fans know he's a man willing to fight for what he believes in. This new documentary is available digitally on iTunes and Amazon Prime and on DVD through the Eagle Rock website.

Hey guys, check out my reaction to a beautiful song by Keith Whitley and Earl Thomas Conley about growing up with a brother, though anyone with a sister could relate just as well. This is one of those songs that shows why country is what it is---deep, poignant, relatable, and occasionally otherworldly.

Earl Thomas Conleys 10 Best Songs

    1:06

Check out the full playlist →

These are the 10 best #EarlThomasConley songs. Known for hit songs including Holding Her and Loving You, What I'd Say and Right From the Start, Earl Thomas Conley died at 12:20AM Wednesday (April 10) in Nashville.

Conley had 18 No. 1 hits and started his commercial country music success in the late 1970s. The independently released Fire and Smoke was among his big early hits, but he truly began to hit his stride with songs from the ACM- nominated Don't Make It Easy for Me album, released in 1983. He was also a three-time ACM Male Vocalist of the Year nominee, but didn't win any ACMs or CMAs during his two decades in the spotlight.
